Abstract

We introduce a new family of distributions using truncated discrete Linnik distribution. This family is a rich family of distributions which includes many important families of distributions such as Marshall–Olkin family of distributions, family of distributions generated through truncated negative binomial distribution, family of distributions generated through truncated discrete Mittag–Leffler distribution etc. Some properties of the new family of distributions are derived. A particular case of the family, a five parameter generalization of Weibull distribution, namely discrete Linnik Weibull distribution is given special attention. This distribution is a generalization of many distributions, such as extended exponentiated Weibull, exponentiated Weibull, Weibull truncated negative binomial, generalized exponential truncated negative binomial, Marshall-Olkin extended Weibull, Marshall–Olkin generalized exponential, exponential truncated negative binomial, Marshall–Olkin exponential and generalized exponential. The shape properties, moments, median, distribution of order statistics, stochastic ordering and stress–strength properties of the new generalized Weibull distribution are derived. The unknown parameters of the distribution are estimated using maximum likelihood method. The discrete Linnik Weibull distribution is fitted to a survival time data set and it is shown that the distribution is more appropriate than other competitive models.  相似文献

We study a new family of distributions defined by the minimum of the Poisson random number of independent identically distributed random variables having a general exponentiated G distribution. Some mathematical properties of the new family including ordinary and incomplete moments, quantile and generating functions, mean deviations, order statistics and their moments, reliability, and Shannon entropy are derived. Maximum likelihood estimation of the model parameters is investigated. Two special models of the new family are discussed. We perform an application to a real data set to show the potentiality of the proposed family.  相似文献

Cordeiro and de Castro proposed a new family of generalized distributions based on the Kumaraswamy distribution (denoted as Kw-G). Nadarajah et al. showed that the density function of the new family of distributions can be expressed as a linear combination of the density of exponentiated family of distributions. They derived some properties of Kw-G distributions and discussed estimation of parameters using the maximum likelihood (ML) method. Cheng and Amin and Ranneby introduced a new method of estimating parameters based on Kullback–Leibler divergence (the maximum spacing (MSP) method). In this article, the estimates of parameters of Kw-G distributions are obtained using the MSP method. For some special Kw-G distributions, the new estimators are compared with ML estimators. It is shown by simulations and a real data application that MSP estimators have better properties than ML estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new family of transmuted distributions, the cubic rank transmutation map distribution. This new proposal increases the flexibility of the transmuted distributions enabling the modelling of more complex data such as ones possessing bimodal hazard rates. In order to illustrate the usefulness of the cubic rank transmutation map, we use two well-known lifetime distributions, namely the Weibull and log-logistic models. Several mathematical properties of these new distributions, namely the cubic rank transmuted Weibull distribution and the cubic rank transmuted log-logistic distribution, are derived. Then, the maximum likelihood estimation of the model parameters is described. A simulation study designed to assess the properties of this estimation procedure is then carried out. Finally, applications of the proposed models and their fit are illustrated with some datasets and the corresponding diagnostic analyses are also provided.  相似文献

A new family of skewed distributions is presented. Some properties and estimation procedures for Libby and Novick's generalized beta exponential distribution, a particular member of the family, are derived. Real applications using two original data sets are described to show superior performance versus at least six known models.  相似文献

A family of distributions generated by an operator acting on generalized normal density is introduced. This family contains as particular cases many known distributions, including the generalized normal, generalized t, and generalized gamma distributions. Several mathematical properties of the family (including expansions, characteristic function, moments, cumulants, and order statistics properties) are derived. Estimation procedures are derived too by the method of moments, method of maximum likelihood, and the method of empirical characteristic function. A real data application is presented. Finally, extensions to the multivariate case are outlined.  相似文献

In this article the probability generating functions of the extended Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern family for discrete distributions are derived. Using the probability generating function approach various properties are examined, the expressions for probabilities, moments, and the form of the conditional distributions are obtained. Bivariate version of the geometric and Poisson distributions are used as illustrative examples. Their covariance structure and estimation of parameters for a data set are briefly discussed. A new copula is also introduced.  相似文献

The univariate fatigue life distribution proposed by Birnbaum and Saunders [A new family of life distributions. J Appl Probab. 1969;6:319–327] has been used quite effectively to model times to failure for materials subject to fatigue and for modelling lifetime data and reliability problems. In this article, we introduce a Birnbaum–Saunders (BS) distribution in the multivariate setting. The new multivariate model arises in the context of conditionally specified distributions. The proposed multivariate model is an absolutely continuous distribution whose marginals are univariate BS distributions. General properties of the multivariate BS distribution are derived and the estimation of the unknown parameters by maximum likelihood is discussed. Further, the Fisher's information matrix is determined. Applications to real data of the proposed multivariate distribution are provided for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

The proportional odds model gives a method of generating new family of distributions by adding a parameter, called tilt parameter, to expand an existing family of distributions. The new family of distributions so obtained is known as Marshall–Olkin family of distributions or Marshall–Olkin extended distributions. In this paper, we consider Marshall–Olkin family of distributions in discrete case with fixed tilt parameter. We study different ageing properties, as well as different stochastic orderings of this family of distributions. All the results of this paper are supported by several examples.  相似文献

In this article we introduce a new generalization of skew-t distributions, which contains the standard skew-t distribution, as a special case. This new class of distributions is an adequate model for modeling some dataset rather than the standard skew-t distributions. This kind of distributions can be represented as a scale-shape mixture of the extended skew-normal distributions. The main properties of this family of distributions are studied and a recurrence relation for the cumulative distribution functions (cdf) of them is presented. We derive the distribution of the order statistics from the trivariate exchangeable t-distribution in terms of our distribution and then an exact expression for the cdf of order statistics is derived. Likelihood inference for this distribution is also examined. The method is illustrated with a numerical example via a simulation study.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new class of distributions by compounding the inverse Lindley distribution and power series distributions which is called compound inverse Lindley power series (CILPS) distributions. An important feature of this distribution is that the lifetime of the component associated with a particular risk is not observable, rather only the minimum lifetime value among all risks is observable. Further, these distributions exhibit an unimodal failure rate. Various properties of the distribution are derived. Besides, two special models of the new family are investigated. The model parameters of the two sub-models of the new family are obtained by the methods of maximum likelihood, least square, weighted least square and maximum product of spacing and compared them using the Monte Carlo simulation study. Besides, the log compound inverse Lindley regression model for censored data is proposed. Three real data sets are analyzed to illustrate the flexibility and importance of the proposed models.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Recently, Risti? and Nadarajah [A new lifetime distribution. J Stat Comput Simul. 2014;84:135–150] introduced the Poisson generated family of distributions and investigated the properties of a special case named the exponentiated-exponential Poisson distribution. In this paper, we study general mathematical properties of the Poisson-X family in the context of the T-X family of distributions pioneered by Alzaatreh et al. [A new method for generating families of continuous distributions. Metron. 2013;71:63–79], which include quantile, shapes of the density and hazard rate functions, asymptotics and Shannon entropy. We obtain a useful linear representation of the family density and explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments, mean deviations and generating function. One special lifetime model called the Poisson power-Cauchy is defined and some of its properties are investigated. This model can have flexible hazard rate shapes such as increasing, decreasing, bathtub and upside-down bathtub. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the model parameters. We illustrate the flexibility of the new distribution by means of three applications to real life data sets.  相似文献

In this article, the exponentiated Weibull distribution is extended by the Marshall-Olkin family. Our new four-parameter family has a hazard rate function with various desired shapes depending on the choice of its parameters and, thus, it is very flexible in data modeling. It also contains two mixed distributions with applications to series and parallel systems in reliability and also contains several previously known lifetime distributions. We shall study some basic distributional properties of the new distribution. Some closed forms are derived for its moment generating function and moments as well as moments of its order statistics. The model parameters are estimated by the maximum likelihood method. The stress–strength parameter and its estimation are also investigated. Finally, an application of the new model is illustrated using two real datasets.  相似文献

In the present paper we define and investigate a novel class of distributions on the simplex, termed normalized infinitely divisible distributions, which includes the Dirichlet distribution. Distributional properties and general moment formulae are derived. Particular attention is devoted to special cases of normalized infinitely divisible distributions which lead to explicit expressions. As a by-product new distributions over the unit interval and a generalization of the Bessel function distribution are obtained.  相似文献

This paper presents a new family of distributions for count data, the so called zero-modified power series (ZMPS), which is an extension of the power series (PS) distribution family, whose support starts at zero. This extension consists in modifying the probability of observing zero of each PS distribution, enabling the new zero-modified distribution to appropriately accommodate data which have any amount of zero observations (for instance, zero-inflated or zero-deflated data). The Hurdle distribution version of the ZMPS distribution is presented. PS distributions included in the proposed ZMPS family are the Poisson, Generalized Poisson, Geometric, Binomial, Negative Binomial and Generalized Negative Binomial distributions. The paper also describes the properties and particularities of the new distribution family for count data. The distribution parameters are estimated via maximum likelihood method and the use of the new family is illustrated in three real data sets. We emphasize that the new distribution family can accommodate sets of count data without any previous knowledge on the characteristic of zero-inflation or zero-deflation present in the data.  相似文献

A new family of copulas is introduced that provides flexible dependence structure while being tractable and simple to use for multivariate discrete data modeling. The construction exploits finite mixtures of uncorrelated normal distributions. Accordingly, the cumulative distribution function is simply the product of univariate normal distributions. At the same time, however, the mixing operation introduces association. The properties of the new family of copulas are examined and a concrete application is used to show its applicability.  相似文献

Abstract

Statistical distributions are very useful in describing and predicting real world phenomena. In many applied areas there is a clear need for the extended forms of the well-known distributions. Generally, the new distributions are more flexible to model real data that present a high degree of skewness and kurtosis. The choice of the best-suited statistical distribution for modeling data is very important.

In this article, we proposed an extended generalized Gompertz (EGGo) family of EGGo. Certain statistical properties of EGGo family including distribution shapes, hazard function, skewness, limit behavior, moments and order statistics are discussed. The flexibility of this family is assessed by its application to real data sets and comparison with other competing distributions. The maximum likelihood equations for estimating the parameters based on real data are given. The performances of the estimators such as maximum likelihood estimators, least squares estimators, weighted least squares estimators, Cramer-von-Mises estimators, Anderson-Darling estimators and right tailed Anderson-Darling estimators are discussed. The likelihood ratio test is derived to illustrate that the EGGo distribution is better than other nested models in fitting data set or not. We use R software for simulation in order to perform applications and test the validity of this model.  相似文献

A new five-parameter continuous distribution, the so-called McDonald Lomax distribution, that extends the Lomax distribution and some other distributions is proposed and studied. The model has as special sub-models new four- and three-parameter distributions. Various structural properties of the new distribution are derived, including expansions for the density function, explicit expressions for the moments, generating and quantile functions, mean deviations and Rényi entropy. The score function is derived and the estimation is performed by maximum likelihood. We also obtain the observed information matrix. An application illustrates the usefulness of the proposed model.  相似文献

Many if not most lifetime distributions are motivated only by mathematical interest. Here, a new three-parameter distribution motivated mainly by lifetime issues is introduced. Some properties of the new distribution including estimation procedures, univariate generalizations and bivariate generalizations are derived. A real data application is described to show its superior performance versus at least that of 15 of the known lifetime models.  相似文献

Abstract

The class of transmuted distributions has received a lot of attention in the recent statistical literature. In this paper, we propose a rich family of bivariate distribution whose conditionals are transmuted distributions. The new family of distributions depends on the two baseline distributions and three dependence parameters. Apart from the general properties, we also study the distribution of the concomitance of order statistics. We study specific bivariate models. Estimation methodologies are proposed. A simulation study is conducted. The usefulness of this family is established by fitting well analyzed real life time data.  相似文献
