Chirp signals are quite common in many natural and man-made systems such as audio signals, sonar, and radar. Estimation of the unknown parameters of a signal is a fundamental problem in statistical signal processing. Recently, Kundu and Nandi [Parameter estimation of chirp signals in presence of stationary noise. Stat Sin. 2008;75:187–201] studied the asymptotic properties of least squares estimators (LSEs) of the unknown parameters of a simple chirp signal model under the assumption of stationary noise. In this paper, we propose periodogram-type estimators called the approximate least squares estimators (ALSEs) to estimate the unknown parameters and study the asymptotic properties of these estimators under the same error assumptions. It is observed that the ALSEs are strongly consistent and asymptotically equivalent to the LSEs. Similar to the periodogram estimators, these estimators can also be used as initial guesses to find the LSEs of the unknown parameters. We perform some numerical simulations to see the performance of the proposed estimators and compare them with the LSEs and the estimators proposed by Lahiri et al. [Efficient algorithm for estimating the parameters of two dimensional chirp signal. Sankhya B. 2013;75(1):65–89]. We have analysed two real data sets for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In the paper, we consider a linear mixed model (LMM) for longitudinal data under linear restriction and find the estimators for the parameters of interest. The strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimators are obtained under some regularity conditions. Besides, we derive the strong consistent estimator of the fourth moment for the error which is useful for statistical inference for random effects and error variance. Simulations and an example are reported for illustration.  相似文献

The single index model is a useful regression model. In this paper, we propose a nonconcave penalized least squares method to estimate both the parameters and the link function of the single index model. Compared to other variable selection and estimation methods, the proposed method can estimate parameters and select variables simultaneously. When the dimension of parameters in the single index model is a fixed constant, under some regularity conditions, we demonstrate that the proposed estimators for parameters have the so-called oracle property, and furthermore we establish the asymptotic normality and develop a sandwich formula to estimate the standard deviations of the proposed estimators. Simulation studies and a real data analysis are presented to illustrate the proposed methods.  相似文献

This article investigates the asymptotic properties of quasi-maximum likelihood (QML) estimators for random-effects panel data transformation models where both the response and (some of) the covariates are subject to transformations for inducing normality, flexible functional form, homoskedasticity, and simple model structure. We develop a QML-type procedure for model estimation and inference. We prove the consistency and asymptotic normality of the QML estimators, and propose a simple bootstrap procedure that leads to a robust estimate of the variance-covariance (VC) matrix. Monte Carlo results reveal that the QML estimators perform well in finite samples, and that the gains by using the robust VC matrix estimate for inference can be enormous.  相似文献

It has been found that, for a variety of probability distributions, there is a surprising linear relation between mode, mean, and median. In this article, the relation between mode, mean, and median regression functions is assumed to follow a simple parametric model. We propose a semiparametric conditional mode (mode regression) estimation for an unknown (unimodal) conditional distribution function in the context of regression model, so that any m-step-ahead mean and median forecasts can then be substituted into the resultant model to deliver m-step-ahead mode prediction. In the semiparametric model, Least Squared Estimator (LSEs) for the model parameters and the simultaneous estimation of the unknown mean and median regression functions by the local linear kernel method are combined to infer about the parametric and nonparametric components of the proposed model. The asymptotic normality of these estimators is derived, and the asymptotic distribution of the parameter estimates is also given and is shown to follow usual parametric rates in spite of the presence of the nonparametric component in the model. These results are applied to obtain a data-based test for the dependence of mode regression over mean and median regression under a regression model.  相似文献

In this article, the partially linear covariate-adjusted regression models are considered, and the penalized least-squares procedure is proposed to simultaneously select variables and estimate the parametric components. The rate of convergence and the asymptotic normality of the resulting estimators are established under some regularization conditions. With the proper choices of the penalty functions and tuning parameters, it is shown that the proposed procedure can be as efficient as the oracle estimators. Some Monte Carlo simulation studies and a real data application are carried out to assess the finite sample performances for the proposed method.  相似文献

A nonconcave penalized estimation method is proposed for partially linear models with longitudinal data when the number of parameters diverges with the sample size. The proposed procedure can simultaneously estimate the parameters and select the important variables. Under some regularity conditions, the rate of convergence and asymptotic normality of the resulting estimators are established. In addition, an iterative algorithm is proposed to implement the proposed estimators. To improve efficiency for regression coefficients, the estimation of the covariance function is integrated in the iterative algorithm. Simulation studies are carried out to demonstrate that the proposed method performs well, and a real data example is analysed to illustrate the proposed procedure.  相似文献

We study the detailed structure (in a large sample) of the self-consistent estimators of the survival functions with doubly censored data. We also introduce the kernel-type density estimators based on the self-consistent estimators, and using our results on the structure of the self-consistent estimators, we establish the strong uniform consistency and the asymptotic normality of the kernel density estimators for doubly censored data. From these, the strong uniform consistency and the asymptotic normality of the failure rate estimators for doubly censored data are derived.  相似文献

This article proposes a variable selection procedure for partially linear models with right-censored data via penalized least squares. We apply the SCAD penalty to select significant variables and estimate unknown parameters simultaneously. The sampling properties for the proposed procedure are investigated. The rate of convergence and the asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators are established. Furthermore, the SCAD-penalized estimators of the nonzero coefficients are shown to have the asymptotic oracle property. In addition, an iterative algorithm is proposed to find the solution of the penalized least squares. Simulation studies are conducted to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

We consider three-dimensional sinusoidal frequency model in a random field. Three-dimensional frequency model has wide applications in statistical signal processing. In this article, we mainly consider the usual least squares estimators and the estimators that can be obtained by maximizing the periodogram function. We obtain consistency and asymptotic normality property of both the estimators. It is observed that they are asymptotically equivalent. Finally we generalize the results to the multidimensional case.  相似文献

For a single-index autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (ARCH-M) model, estimators of the parametric and non parametric components are proposed by the profile likelihood method. The research results had shown that all the estimators have consistency and the parametric estimators have asymptotic normality. We extend this line of research by deriving the asymptotic normality of the non parametric estimator. Based on the asymptotic properties, we propose Wald statistic and generalized likelihood ratio statistic to investigate the testing problems for ARCH effect and goodness of fit, respectively. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the finite-sample performance of the proposed estimation methodology and testing procedure.  相似文献

The paper studies a linear regression model with first order autoregressive (AR(1)) processes. The Huber–Dutter (HD) estimators of unknown parameters are given, and the asymptotic normality of the HD estimators is investigated. An example is presented to illustrate the proposed method.  相似文献

We investigate the estimators of parameters of interest for a single-index varying-coefficient model. To estimate the unknown parameter efficiently, we first estimate the nonparametric component using local linear smoothing, then construct an estimator of parametric component by using estimating equations. Our estimator for the parametric component is asymptotically efficient, and the estimator of nonparametric component has asymptotic normality and optimal uniform convergence rate. Our results provide ways to construct confidence regions for the involved unknown parameters. The finite-sample behavior of the new estimators is evaluated through simulation studies, and applications to two real data are illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the estimation of both the parameters and the nonparametric link function in partially linear single‐index models for longitudinal data that may be unbalanced. In particular, a new three‐stage approach is proposed to estimate the nonparametric link function using marginal kernel regression and the parametric components with generalized estimating equations. The resulting estimators properly account for the within‐subject correlation. We show that the parameter estimators are asymptotically semiparametrically efficient. We also show that the asymptotic variance of the link function estimator is minimized when the working error covariance matrices are correctly specified. The new estimators are more efficient than estimators in the existing literature. These asymptotic results are obtained without assuming normality. The finite‐sample performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation studies. In addition, two real‐data examples are analyzed to illustrate the methodology.  相似文献

This article studies the probabilistic structure and asymptotic inference of the first-order periodic generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (PGARCH(1, 1)) models in which the parameters in volatility process are allowed to switch between different regimes. First, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a PGARCH(1, 1) process to have a unique stationary solution (in periodic sense) and for the existence of moments of any order. Second, using the representation of squared PGARCH(1, 1) model as a PARMA(1, 1) model, we then consider Yule-Walker type estimators for the parameters in PGARCH(1, 1) model and derives their consistency and asymptotic normality. The estimator can be surprisingly efficient for quite small numbers of autocorrelations and, in some cases can be more efficient than the least squares estimate (LSE). We use a residual bootstrap to define bootstrap estimators for the Yule-Walker estimates and prove the consistency of this bootstrap method. A set of numerical experiments illustrates the practical relevance of our theoretical results.  相似文献

Robinson (1982a) presented a general approach to serial correlation in limited dependent variable models and proved the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the quasi-maximum likelihood estimator (QMLE) for the Tobit model with serial correlation, obtained under the assumption of independent errors. This paper proves the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the QMLE based on independent errors for the truncated regression model with serial correlation and gives consistent estimators for the limiting covariance matrix of the QMLE.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the Fisher information matrix of a rounded ranked set sampling (RSS) sample and show that the sample is always more informative than a rounded simple random sampling (SRS) sample of the same size. On the other hand, we propose a new method to approximate maximum likelihood estimates (MLE) of unknown parameters for this model and further establish the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators. Simulation experiments show that the approximated MLE based on rounded RSS is always more efficient than those based on rounded SRS.  相似文献

This paper deals with the estimation of the tail index of a heavy-tailed distribution in the presence of covariates. A class of estimators is proposed in this context and its asymptotic normality established under mild regularity conditions. These estimators are functions of a kernel conditional quantile estimator depending on some tuning parameters. The finite sample properties of our estimators are illustrated on a small simulation study.  相似文献
