ABSTRACT

In this study, a renewal-reward process with a discrete interference of chance is constructed and considered. Under weak conditions, the ergodicity of the process X(t) is proved and exact formulas for the ergodic distribution and its moments are found. Within some assumptions for the discrete interference of chance in general form, two-term asymptotic expansions for all moments of the ergodic distribution are obtained. Additionally, kurtosis coefficient, skewness coefficient, and coefficient of variation of the ergodic distribution are computed. As a special case, a semi-Markovian inventory model of type (s, S) is investigated.  相似文献

A semi-Markovian random walk process (X(t)) with a generalized beta distribution of chance is considered. The asymptotic expansions for the first four moments of the ergodic distribution of the process are obtained as E(ζn) → ∞ when the random variable ζn has a generalized beta distribution with parameters (s, S, α, β); , β > 1,?0? ? s < S < ∞. Finally, the accuracy of the asymptotic expansions is examined by using the Monte Carlo simulation method.  相似文献

We consider the specific transformation of a Wiener process {X(t), t ≥ 0} in the presence of an absorbing barrier a that results when this process is “time-locked” with respect to its first passage time T a through a criterion level a, and the evolution of X(t) is considered backwards (retrospectively) from T a . Formally, we study the random variables defined by Y(t) ≡ X(T a  ? t) and derive explicit results for their density and mean, and also for their asymptotic forms. We discuss how our results can aid interpretations of time series “response-locked” to their times of crossing a criterion level.  相似文献

Some asymptotic expansions not necessarily related to the central limit theorem are studied. We first observe that the smoothing inequality of Esseen implies the proximity, in the Kolmogorov distance sense, of the distributions of the random variables of two random sequences satisfying a sort of general asymptotic relation. We then present several instances of this observation. A first example, partially motivated by the the statistical theory of high precision measurements, is given by a uniform asymptotic approximation to (g(X + μ n )) n∈?, where g is some smooth function, X is a random variable and (μ n ) n∈? is a sequence going to infinity; a multivariate version is also stated and proved. We finally present a second class of examples given by a randomization of the interesting parameter in some classical asymptotic formulas; namely, a generic Laplace's type integral, randomized by the sequence (μ n X) n∈?, X being a Gamma distributed random variable.  相似文献

Let X 1,X 2,…,X n be independent exponential random variables such that X i has hazard rate λ for i = 1,…,p and X j has hazard rate λ* for j = p + 1,…,n, where 1 ≤ p < n. Denote by D i:n (λ, λ*) = X i:n  ? X i?1:n the ith spacing of the order statistics X 1:n  ≤ X 2:n  ≤ ··· ≤ X n:n , i = 1,…,n, where X 0:n ≡ 0. It is shown that the spacings (D 1,n ,D 2,n ,…,D n:n ) are MTP2, strengthening one result of Khaledi and Kochar (2000), and that (D 1:n 2, λ*),…,D n:n 2, λ*)) ≤ lr (D 1:n 1, λ*),…,D n:n 1, λ*)) for λ1 ≤ λ* ≤ λ2, where ≤ lr denotes the multivariate likelihood ratio order. A counterexample is also given to show that this comparison result is in general not true for λ* < λ1 < λ2.  相似文献

This article studies the asymptotic properties of the random weighted empirical distribution function of independent random variables. Suppose X1, X2, ???, Xn is a sequence of independent random variables, and this sequence is not required to be identically distributed. Denote the empirical distribution function of the sequence by Fn(x). Based on the random weighting method and Fn(x), the random weighted empirical distribution function Hn(x) is constructed and the asymptotic properties of Hn are discussed. Under weak conditions, the Glivenko–Cantelli theorem and the central limit theorem for the random weighted empirical distribution function are obtained. The obtained results have also been applied to study the distribution functions of random errors of multiple sensors.  相似文献

Assume that X 1, X 2,…, X n is a sequence of i.i.d. random variables with α-stable distribution (α ∈ (0,2], the stable exponent, is the unknown parameter). We construct minimum distance estimators for α by minimizing the Kolmogorov distance or the Cramér–von-Mises distance between the empirical distribution function G n , and a class of distributions defined based on the sum-preserving property of stable random variables. The minimum distance estimators can also be obtained by minimizing a U-statistic estimate of an empirical distribution function involving the stable exponent. They share the same invariance property with the maximum likelihood estimates. In this article, we prove the strong consistency of the minimum distance estimators. We prove the asymptotic normality of our estimators. Simulation study shows that the new estimators are competitive to the existing ones and perform very closely even to the maximum likelihood estimator.  相似文献

This article deals with the estimation of the stress-strength parameter R = P(Y < X) when X and Y are independent Lindley random variables with different shape parameters. The uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator has explicit expression, however, its exact or asymptotic distribution is very difficult to obtain. The maximum likelihood estimator of the unknown parameter can also be obtained in explicit form. We obtain the asymptotic distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator and it can be used to construct confidence interval of R. Different parametric bootstrap confidence intervals are also proposed. Bayes estimator and the associated credible interval based on independent gamma priors on the unknown parameters are obtained using Monte Carlo methods. Different methods are compared using simulations and one data analysis has been performed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Let {X j , j ≥ 1} be a strictly stationary negatively or positively associated sequence of real valued random variables with unknown distribution function F(x). On the basis of the random variables {X j , j ≥ 1}, we propose a smooth recursive kernel-type estimate of F(x), and study asymptotic bias, quadratic-mean consistency and asymptotic normality of the recursive kernel-type estimator under suitable conditions.  相似文献

Let X(1)X(2)≤···≤X(n) be the order statistics from independent and identically distributed random variables {Xi, 1≤in} with a common absolutely continuous distribution function. In this work, first a new characterization of distributions based on order statistics is presented. Next, we review some conditional expectation properties of order statistics, which can be used to establish some equivalent forms for conditional expectations for sum of random variables based on order statistics. Using these equivalent forms, some known results can be extended immediately.  相似文献

Recently, the concept of reversed mean residual life order based on the mean of the random variable X t  = (t ? X | X ≤ t), t > 0, called the reversed residual life, defined for the nonnegative random variable X, has been introduced in the literature. In this paper, a stochastic order based on the shifted version of the reversed mean residual life is proposed, based on the reversed mean residual life function for a random variable X with support (l X , ∞), where l X may be negative infinity, and its properties are studied. Closure under the Poisson shock model and properties for spare allocation are also discussed.  相似文献

Let X 1, X 2,…, X n be independent exponential random variables with X i having failure rate λ i for i = 1,…, n. Denote by D i:n  = X i:n  ? X i?1:n the ith spacing of the order statistics X 1:n  ≤ X 2:n  ≤ ··· ≤ X n:n , i = 1,…, n, where X 0:n ≡ 0. It is shown that if λ n+1 ≤ [≥] λ k for k = 1,…, n then D n:n  ≤ lr D n+1:n+1 and D 1:n  ≤ lr D 2:n+1 [D 2:n+1 ≤ lr D 2:n ], and that if λ i  + λ j  ≥ λ k for all distinct i,j, and k then D n?1:n  ≤ lr D n:n and D n:n+1 ≤ lr D n:n , where ≤ lr denotes the likelihood ratio order. We also prove that D 1:n  ≤ lr D 2:n for n ≥ 2 and D 2:3 ≤ lr D 3:3 for all λ i 's.  相似文献

LetX1,X2, ..., be real-valued random variables forming a strictly stationary sequence, and satisfying the basic requirement of being either pairwise positively quadrant dependent or pairwise negatively quadrant dependent. LetF^ be the marginal distribution function of theXips, which is estimated by the empirical distribution functionFn and also by a smooth kernel-type estimateFn, by means of the segmentX1, ...,Xn. These estimates are compared on the basis of their mean squared errors (MSE). The main results of this paper are the following. Under certain regularity conditions, the optimal bandwidth (in the MSE sense) is determined, and is found to be the same as that in the independent identically distributed case. It is also shown thatn MSE(Fn(t)) andnMSE (F^n(t)) tend to the same constant, asn→∞ so that one can not discriminate be tween the two estimates on the basis of the MSE. Next, ifi(n) = min {k∈{1, 2, ...}; MSE (Fk(t)) ≤ MSE (Fn(t))}, then it is proved thati(n)/n tends to 1, asn→∞. Thus, once again, one can not choose one estimate over the other in terms of their asymptotic relative efficiency. If, however, the squared bias ofF^n(t) tends to 0 sufficiently fast, or equivalently, the bandwidthhn satisfies the requirement thatnh3n→ 0, asn→∞, it is shown that, for a suitable choice of the kernel, (i(n) ?n)/(nhn) tends to a positive number, asn→∞ It follows that the deficiency ofFn(t) with respect toF^n(t),i(n) ?n, is substantial, and, actually, tends to ∞, asn→∞. In terms of deficiency, the smooth estimateF^n(t) is preferable to the empirical distribution functionFn(t)  相似文献

Abstract

We give a sufficient condition for the exponential decay of the tail of a discrete probability distribution π = (π n ) n≥0 in the sense that lim n→∞(1/n) log∑ i>n π i  = ?θ with 0 < θ < ∞. We focus on analytic properties of the probability generating function of a discrete probability distribution, especially, the radius of convergence and the number of poles on the circle of convergence. Furthermore, we give an example of an M/G/1 type Markov chain such that the tail of its stationary distribution does not decay exponentially.  相似文献

In this paper a generalization of the semi-Pareto autoregressive minification process of the first order is given. The necessary and sufficient condition for stationarity of the process is determined. It is shown that the process is ergodic and uniformly mixing. The joint survival function and the joint density function of the random variables X n+h and X n are determined. The extremes of the random variables X 1, X 2, ..., X n and the geometric extremes of random variables X 1, X 2, ..., X N are derived and their asymptotic distributions are discussed. The estimation of the parameters is discussed and some numerical results are given.  相似文献

The family consisting of the distributions of products of two independent beta variables is extended to include cases where some of the parameters are not positive but negative or complex. This “beta product” distribution is expressible as a Meijer G function. An example (from risk theory) where such a distribution arises is given: an infinite sum of products of independent random variables is shown to have a distribution that is the product convolution of a complex-parameter beta product and an independent exponential. The distribution of the infinite sum is a new explicit solution of the stochastic equation X = (in law) B(X + C). Characterizations of some G distributions are also proved.  相似文献

In this article, we study large deviations for non random difference ∑n1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑n2(t)j = 1X2j and random difference ∑N1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑N2(t)j = 1X2j, where {X1j, j ? 1} is a sequence of widely upper orthant dependent (WUOD) random variables with non identical distributions {F1j(x), j ? 1}, {X2j, j ? 1} is a sequence of independent identically distributed random variables, n1(t) and n2(t) are two positive integer-valued functions, and {Ni(t), t ? 0}2i = 1 with ENi(t) = λi(t) are two counting processes independent of {Xij, j ? 1}2i = 1. Under several assumptions, some results of precise large deviations for non random difference and random difference are derived, and some corresponding results are extended.  相似文献

A characterization of the distribution of the multivariate quadratic form given by X A X′, where X is a p × n normally distributed matrix and A is an n × n symmetric real matrix, is presented. We show that the distribution of the quadratic form is the same as the distribution of a weighted sum of non central Wishart distributed matrices. This is applied to derive the distribution of the sample covariance between the rows of X when the expectation is the same for every column and is estimated with the regular mean.  相似文献

Assume that there are two types of insurance contracts in an insurance company, and the ith related claims are denoted by {Xij, j ? 1}, i = 1, 2. In this article, the asymptotic behaviors of precise large deviations for non random difference ∑n1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑n2(t)j = 1X2j and random difference ∑N1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑N2(t)j = 1X2j are investigated, and under several assumptions, some corresponding asymptotic formulas are obtained.  相似文献
