A sequence of independent lifetimes X 1, X 2,…, X m , X m+1,… X n were observed from geometric population with parameter q 1 but later it was found that there was a change in the system at some point of time m and it is reflected in the sequence after X m by change in parameter q 2. The Bayes estimates of m, q 1, q 2, reliability R 1 (t) and R 2 (t) at time t are derived for symmetric and asymmetric loss functions under informative and non informative priors. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a sequential procedure which gives a fixed-width confidence interval for g(θ, φ) so that the coverage probability is approximately α (preas-signed). The L1 and L2-errors of the histogram estimate of a density f from a sample X1,X2,…,Xn using a cubic partition are shown to be asymptotically normal without any unnecessary conditions imposed on the density f. The asymptotic variances are shown to depend on f only through the corresponding norm of f. From this follows the asymptotic null distribution of a goodness-of-fit test based on the total variation distance, introduced by Györfi and van der Meulen (1991). This note uses the idea of partial inversion for obtaining characteristic functions of conditional distributions, which goes back at least to Bartlett (1938).  相似文献

For testing the hypothesis H 0: F = G, we introduce and study analogues of the celebrated Kolmogorov–Smirnov and one- and two-sided Cramér-von Mises statistics that are functionals of a suitably integrated two-sample empirical process. Furthermore, we characterize those distributions for which the new tests are locally Bahadur optimal within the setting of shift alternatives.  相似文献

Assume that X 1, X 2,…, X n is a sequence of i.i.d. random variables with α-stable distribution (α ∈ (0,2], the stable exponent, is the unknown parameter). We construct minimum distance estimators for α by minimizing the Kolmogorov distance or the Cramér–von-Mises distance between the empirical distribution function G n , and a class of distributions defined based on the sum-preserving property of stable random variables. The minimum distance estimators can also be obtained by minimizing a U-statistic estimate of an empirical distribution function involving the stable exponent. They share the same invariance property with the maximum likelihood estimates. In this article, we prove the strong consistency of the minimum distance estimators. We prove the asymptotic normality of our estimators. Simulation study shows that the new estimators are competitive to the existing ones and perform very closely even to the maximum likelihood estimator.  相似文献

This paper deals with the estimation of R=P[X<Y] when X and Y come from two independent generalized logistic distributions with different parameters. The maximum-likelihood estimator (MLE) and its asymptotic distribution are proposed. The asymptotic distribution is used to construct an asymptotic confidence interval of R. Assuming that the common scale parameter is known, the MLE, uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator, Bayes estimation and confidence interval of R are obtained. The MLE of R, asymptotic distribution of R in the general case, is also discussed. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to compare the different proposed methods. Analysis of a real data set has also been presented for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

The Heine process is introduced as a q-analog of the basic Poisson process. In this article, a semi-Markovian random walk with delay and a discrete interference of chance (X(t)) is considered. It is assumed that the random variables ζ n , n = 1, 2,…, which describe the discrete interference of chance form an ergodic Markov chain with ergodic distribution which is a gamma distribution with parameters (α, λ). Under this assumption, the asymptotic expansions for the first four moments of the ergodic distribution of the process X(t) are derived, as λ → 0. Moreover, by using the Riemann zeta-function, the coefficients of these asymptotic expansions are expressed by means of numerical characteristics of the summands, when the process considered is a semi-Markovian Gaussian random walk with small drift β.  相似文献

Surles and Padgett [Inference for reliability and stress–strength for a scaled Burr type X distribution. Lifetime Data Anal. 2001;7:187–200] introduced a two-parameter Burr-type X distribution, which can be described as a generalized Rayleigh distribution. In this paper, we consider the estimation of the stress–strength parameter R=P[Y<X], when X and Y are both three-parameter generalized Rayleigh distributions with the same scale and locations parameters but different shape parameters. It is assumed that they are independently distributed. It is observed that the maximum-likelihood estimators (MLEs) do not exist, and we propose a modified MLE of R. We obtain the asymptotic distribution of the modified MLE of R, and it can be used to construct the asymptotic confidence interval of R. We also propose the Bayes estimate of R and the construction of the associated credible interval based on importance sampling technique. Analysis of two real data sets, (i) simulated and (ii) real, have been performed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献
