In this article, we consider parameter estimation in the hazard rate with multiple change points in the presence of long-term survivors. We combine two methods: maximum likelihood based and martingale based, to estimate the change points in the hazard rate for right censored survival data that accounts for long-term survivors. A simulation study is carried out to compare the performance of estimators. The method is applied to analyze two real datasets.  相似文献

Random coefficient model (RCM) is a powerful statistical tool in analyzing correlated data collected from studies with different clusters or from longitudinal studies. In practice, there is a need for statistical methods that allow biomedical researchers to adjust for the measured and unmeasured covariates that might affect the regression model. This article studies two nonparametric methods dealing with auxiliary covariate data in linear random coefficient models. We demonstrate how to estimate the coefficients of the models and how to predict the random effects when the covariates are missing or mismeasured. We employ empirical estimator and kernel smoother to handle a discrete and continuous auxiliary, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed methods perform better than an alternative method that only uses data in the validation data set and ignores the random effects in the random coefficient model.  相似文献

A Bayesian approach is considered to detect the number of change points in simple linear regression models. A normal-gamma empirical prior for the regression parameters based on maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is employed in the analysis. Under mild conditions, consistency for the number of change points and boundedness between the estimated location and the true location of the change points are established. The Bayesian approach to the detection of the number of change points is suitable whether the switching simple regression is continuous or discontinuous. Some simulation results are given to confirm the accuracy of the proposed estimator.  相似文献

A wavelet method is proposed to detect jumps in a function which is observed with unit-root noise. We obtain critical values at any scale and prove the consistency of wavelet detection when the nonparametric function is smooth. It shows that the estimation of the number and locations of change points are consistent when there are change points in the nonparametric function. Simulation study supports our method.  相似文献

We consider the estimation of a change point or discontinuity in a regression function for random design model with long memory errors. We provide several change-point estimators and investigate the consistency of the estimators. Using the fractional ARIMA process as an example of long memory process, we report a small Monte Carlo experiment to compare the performance of the estimators in finite samples. Censored data arise naturally in a number of fields, particularly in problems of reliability and survival analysis. There are several types of censoring; in this article, we shall confine ourselves to the right randomly censoring type. Under the Bayesian framework, we study the estimation of parameters in a general framework based on the random censored observations under Linear-Exponential (LINEX) and squared error loss (SEL) functions. As a special case, Weibull model is discussed and the admissibility of estimators of parameters verified. Finally, a simulation study is conducted based on Monte Carlo (MC) method for comparing estimated risks of the estimators obtained.  相似文献

The article studies a time-varying coefficient time series model in which some of the covariates are measured with additive errors. In order to overcome the bias of estimator of the coefficient functions when measurement errors are ignored, we propose a modified least squares estimator based on wavelet procedures. The advantage of the wavelet method is to avoid the restrictive smoothness requirement for varying-coefficient functions of the traditional smoothing approaches, such as kernel and local polynomial methods. The asymptotic properties of the proposed wavelet estimators are established under the α-mixing conditions and without specifying the error distribution. These results can be used to make asymptotically valid statistical inference.  相似文献

The hazard function plays an important role in reliability or survival studies since it describes the instantaneous risk of failure of items at a time point, given that they have not failed before. In some real life applications, abrupt changes in the hazard function are observed due to overhauls, major operations or specific maintenance activities. In such situations it is of interest to detect the location where such a change occurs and estimate the size of the change. In this paper we consider the problem of estimating a single change point in a piecewise constant hazard function when the observed variables are subject to random censoring. We suggest an estimation procedure that is based on certain structural properties and on least squares ideas. A simulation study is carried out to compare the performance of this estimator with two estimators available in the literature: an estimator based on a functional of the Nelson-Aalen estimator and a maximum likelihood estimator. The proposed least squares estimator tums out to be less biased than the other two estimators, but has a larger variance. We illustrate the estimation method on some real data sets.  相似文献

In this paper, maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) for both step and linear drift changes in the regression parameters of multivariate linear profiles are developed. Performance of the proposed estimators is compared under linear drift changes in the regression parameters when a combined MEWMA and Chi-square control charts method signals an out-of-control condition. The effect of smoothing parameter of MEWMA control charts, missing data, and multiple drift changes on the performance of the both estimators is also evaluated. We consider a nonparametric autoregression model under conditional heteroscedasticity with the aim to test whether the innovation distribution changes in time. To this end, we develop an asymptotic expansion for the sequential empirical process of nonparametrically estimated innovations (residuals). We suggest a Kolmogorov–Smirnov statistic based on the difference of the estimated innovation distributions built from the first ?ns?and the last n ? ?ns? residuals, respectively (0 ≤ s ≤ 1). Weak convergence of the underlying stochastic process to a Gaussian process is proved under the null hypothesis of no change point. The result implies that the test is asymptotically distribution‐free. Consistency against fixed alternatives is shown. The small sample performance of the proposed test is investigated in a simulation study and the test is applied to a data example.  相似文献
