The first-order integer-valued autoregressive (INAR(1)) process with Poisson marginal distributions is considered. It is shown that the sample autocovariance function of the model is asymptotically normally distributed. We derive asymptotic distribution of Yule-Walker type estimators of parameters. It turns out that our Yule-Walker type estimators are better than the conditional least squares estimators proposed by Klimko and Nelson (1978) and Al-Osh and Alzaid (1987). also, we study the relationship between the model andM/M/∞ queueing system.  相似文献

Bivariate integer-valued time series occur in many areas, such as finance, epidemiology, business etc. In this article, we present bivariate autoregressive integer-valued time-series models, based on the signed thinning operator. Compared to classical bivariate INAR models, the new processes have the advantage to allow for negative values for both the time series and the autocorrelation functions. Strict stationarity and ergodicity of the processes are established. The moments and the autocovariance functions are determined. The conditional least squares estimator of the model parameters is considered and the asymptotic properties of the obtained estimators are derived. An analysis of a real dataset from finance and a simulation study are carried out to assess the performance of the model.  相似文献

The problem of nonparametric estimation of the spectral density function of a partially observed homogeneous random field is addressed. In particular, a class of estimators with favorable asymptotic performance (bias, variance, rate of convergence) is proposed. The proposed estimators are actually shown to be √N-consistent if the autocovariance function of the random field is supported on a compact set, and close to √N-consistent if the autocovariance function decays to zero sufficiently fast for increasing lags.  相似文献

A first-order random coefficient integer-valued autoregressive (RCINAR(1)) model is introduced. Ergodicity of the process is established. Moments and autocovariance functions are obtained. Conditional least squares and quasi-likelihood estimators of the model parameters are derived and their asymptotic properties are established. The performance of these estimators is compared with the maximum likelihood estimator via simulation.  相似文献

The modelling and analysis of count-data time series are areas of emerging interest with various applications in practice. We consider the particular case of the binomial AR(1) model, which is well suited for describing binomial counts with a first-order autoregressive serial dependence structure. We derive explicit expressions for the joint (central) moments and cumulants up to order 4. Then, we apply these results for expressing moments and asymptotic distribution of the squared difference estimator as an alternative to the sample autocovariance. We also analyse the asymptotic distribution of the conditional least-squares estimators of the parameters of the binomial AR(1) model. The finite-sample performance of these estimators is investigated in a simulation study, and we apply them to real data about computerized workstations.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a resampling method based on perturbing the estimating functions to compute the asymptotic variances of quantile regression estimators under missing at random condition. We prove that the conditional distributions of the resampling estimators are asymptotically equivalent to the distributions of quantile regression estimators. Our method can deal with complex situations, where the response and part of covariates are missing. Numerical results based on simulated and real data are provided under several designs.  相似文献

NONPARAMETRIC AUTOCOVARIANCE FUNCTION ESTIMATION   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Nonparametric estimators of autocovariance functions for non-stationary time series are developed. The estimators are based on straightforward nonparametric mean function estimation ideas and allow use of any linear smoother (e.g. smoothing spline, local polynomial). The paper studies the properties of the estimators, and illustrates their usefulness through application to some meteorological and seismic time series.  相似文献

The paper considers high‐frequency sampled multivariate continuous‐time autoregressive moving average (MCARMA) models and derives the asymptotic behaviour of the sample autocovariance function to a normal random matrix. Moreover, we obtain the asymptotic behaviour of the cross‐covariances between different components of the model. We will see that the limit distribution of the sample autocovariance function has a similar structure in the continuous‐time and in the discrete‐time model. As a special case, we consider a CARMA (one‐dimensional MCARMA) process. For a CARMA process, we prove Bartlett's formula for the sample autocorrelation function. Bartlett's formula has the same form in both models; only the sums in the discrete‐time model are exchanged by integrals in the continuous‐time model. Finally, we present limit results for multivariate MA processes as well, which are not known in this generality in the multivariate setting yet.  相似文献

Empirical likelihood for generalized linear models with missing responses   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The paper uses the empirical likelihood method to study the construction of confidence intervals and regions for regression coefficients and response mean in generalized linear models with missing response. By using the inverse selection probability weighted imputation technique, the proposed empirical likelihood ratios are asymptotically chi-squared. Our approach is to directly calibrate the empirical likelihood ratio, which is called as a bias-correction method. Also, a class of estimators for the parameters of interest is constructed, and the asymptotic distributions of the proposed estimators are obtained. A simulation study indicates that the proposed methods are comparable in terms of coverage probabilities and average lengths/areas of confidence intervals/regions. An example of a real data set is used for illustrating our methods.  相似文献

In Kernel density estimation, a criticism of bandwidth selection techniques which minimize squared error expressions is that they perform poorly when estimating tails of probability density functions. Techniques minimizing absolute error expressions are thought to result in more uniform performance and be potentially superior. An asympotic mean absolute error expression for nonparametric kernel density estimators from right-censored data is developed here. This expression is used to obtain local and global bandwidths that are optimal in the sense that they minimize asymptotic mean absolute error and integrated asymptotic mean absolute error, respectively. These estimators are illustrated fro eight data sets from known distributions. Computer simulation results are discussed, comparing the estimation methods with squared-error-based bandwidth selection for right-censored data.  相似文献

This paper compares the tail-heaviness of certain random quotients in terms of the asymptotic relative efficiences of the sample median to a large class of estimators containing the mean, trimmed mean and Huber's M-estimator. The random quotients are generalizations of the "Normalllndependent" distributions and include the Student's t, contaminated normal, double exponential and slash distributions.  相似文献

Asymptotic distributions of normal-theory-based ML/MI estimators are studied in a simple regression model under general distributions with MAR missing data. The asymptotic variance of the ML/MI estimator of residuals’ variance is explicitly derived, from which it follows that the kurtosis of the error distribution primarily affects the asymptotic variance. Results of numerical simulations conducted to study finite sample properties of the estimators, conformed largely to the asymptotic results, and they also indicated interesting findings particularly for small samples, which do not follow from the asymptotic property. It is concluded that the ML estimators perform best in the situation studied here.  相似文献

To make efficient inference for mean of a response variable when the data are missing at random and the dimension of covariate is not low, we construct three bias-corrected empirical likelihood (EL) methods in conjunction with dimension-reduced kernel estimation of propensity or/and conditional mean response function. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the maximum dimension-reduced EL estimators are established. We further study the asymptotic properties of the resulting dimension-reduced EL ratio functions and the corresponding EL confidence intervals for the response mean are constructed. The finite-sample performance of the proposed estimators is studied through simulation, and an application to HIV-CD4 data set is also presented.  相似文献

Bivariate extreme value theory was used to estimate a rare event (see de Haan and de Ronde [1998. Sea and wind: multivariate extremes at work. Extremes 1, 7–45]). This procedure involves estimating a tail dependence function. There are several estimators for the tail dependence function in the literature, but their limiting distributions depend on partial derivatives of the tail dependence function. In this paper smooth estimators are proposed for estimating partial derivatives of bivariate tail dependence functions and their asymptotic distributions are derived as well. A simulation study is conducted to compare different estimators of partial derivatives in terms of both mean squared errors and coverage accuracy of confidence intervals of the bivariate tail dependence function based on these different estimators of partial derivatives.  相似文献

Log-normal linear models are widely used in applications, and many times it is of interest to predict the response variable or to estimate the mean of the response variable at the original scale for a new set of covariate values. In this paper we consider the problem of efficient estimation of the conditional mean of the response variable at the original scale for log-normal linear models. Several existing estimators are reviewed first, including the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, the restricted ML (REML) estimator, the uniformly minimum variance unbiased (UMVU) estimator, and a bias-corrected REML estimator. We then propose two estimators that minimize the asymptotic mean squared error and the asymptotic bias, respectively. A parametric bootstrap procedure is also described to obtain confidence intervals for the proposed estimators. Both the new estimators and the bootstrap procedure are very easy to implement. Comparisons of the estimators using simulation studies suggest that our estimators perform better than the existing ones, and the bootstrap procedure yields confidence intervals with good coverage properties. A real application of estimating the mean sediment discharge is used to illustrate the methodology.  相似文献

The authors consider general estimators for the mean and variance parameters in the random effect model and in the transformation model for data with multiple levels of variation. They show that these estimators have different distributions under the two models unless all the variables have Gaussian distributions. They investigate the asymptotic properties of bootstrap procedures designed for the two models. They also report simulation results and illustrate the bootstraps using data on red spruce trees.  相似文献

Two distribution-free estimators are proposed to estimate the mean of a dependent variable after fitting a semiparametric two-part heteroscedastic regression model to a transformation of the dependent variable. We show that the proposed estimators are consistent and have asymptotic normal distributions. We also compare their finite-sample performance in a simulation study. Finally, we illustrate the proposed methods in a real-world example of predicting in-patient health care costs.  相似文献

Statistical inference based on ranked set sampling has primarily been motivated by nonparametric problems. However, the sampling procedure can provide an improved estimator of the population mean when the population is partially known. In this article, we consider estimation of the population mean and variance for the location-scale families of distributions. We derive and compare different unbiased estimators of these parameters based on rindependent replications of a ranked set sample of size n.Large sample properties, along with asymptotic relative efficiencies, help identify which estimators are best suited for different location-scale distributions.  相似文献

This paper explores the estimation of the area under the ROC curve when test scores are subject to errors. The naive approach that ignores measurement errors generally yields inconsistent estimates. Finding the asymptotic bias of the naive estimator, Coffin and Sukhatme (1995, 1997) proposed bias-corrected estimators for parametric and nonparametric cases. However, the asymptotic distributions of these estimators have not been developed because of their complexity. We propose several alternative approaches, including the SIMEX procedure of Cook and Stefanski (1994). We also provide the asymptotic distributions of the SIMEX estimators for use in statistical inference. Small simulation studies illustrate that the SIMEX estimators perform reasonably well when compared to the bias-corrected estimators.  相似文献

The asymptotic distributions of squared and absolute residual autocorrelations for GARCH model estimated by M-estimators are derived. Two diagnostic tests are developed which can be used to check the adequacy of GARCH model fitted by using M-estimators. Simulation results show that the empirical sizes of both tests are close to the nominal size in most of the cases. The power of test based on absolute residual autocorrelation is found better than test based on squared residual autocorrelations. Our results reveal that there are estimators that can fit GARCH-type models better than the commonly used quasi-maximum likelihood estimator under non normal errors. An application to real data set is also presented.  相似文献
