Abstract

The regression model with ordinal outcome has been widely used in a lot of fields because of its significant effect. Moreover, predictors measured with error and multicollinearity are long-standing problems and often occur in regression analysis. However there are not many studies on dealing with measurement error models with generally ordinal response, even fewer when they suffer from multicollinearity. The purpose of this article is to estimate parameters of ordinal probit models with measurement error and multicollinearity. First, we propose to use regression calibration and refined regression calibration to estimate parameters in ordinal probit models with measurement error. Second, we develop new methods to obtain estimators of parameters in the presence of multicollinearity and measurement error in ordinal probit model. Furthermore we also extend all the methods to quadratic ordinal probit models and talk about the situation in ordinal logistic models. These estimators are consistent and asymptotically normally distributed under general conditions. They are easy to compute, perform well and are robust against the normality assumption for the predictor variables in our simulation studies. The proposed methods are applied to some real datasets.  相似文献

This paper considers regression models for mixed binary and continuous outcomes, when the true predictor is measured with error and the binary responses are subject to classification errors. The focus of the paper is to study the effects of these errors on the estimates of the model parameters and also to propose a model that incorporates both these errors. The proposed model results in a substantial improvement in the estimates as shown by extensive simulation studies.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a bias corrected estimate of the regression coefficient for the generalized probit regression model when the covariates are subject to measurement error and the responses are subject to interval censoring. The main improvement of our method is that it reduces most of the bias that the naive estimates have. The great advantage of our method is that it is baseline and censoring distribution free, in a sense that the investigator does not need to calculate the baseline or the censoring distribution to obtain the estimator of the regression coefficient, an important property of Cox regression model. A sandwich estimator for the variance is also proposed. Our procedure can be generalized to general measurement error distribution as long as the first four moments of the measurement error are known. The results of extensive simulations show that our approach is very effective in eliminating the bias when the measurement error is not too large relative to the error term of the regression model.  相似文献

Measurement error is a commonly addressed problem in psychometrics and the behavioral sciences, particularly where gold standard data either does not exist or are too expensive. The Bayesian approach can be utilized to adjust for the bias that results from measurement error in tests. Bayesian methods offer other practical advantages for the analysis of epidemiological data including the possibility of incorporating relevant prior scientific information and the ability to make inferences that do not rely on large sample assumptions. In this paper we consider a logistic regression model where both the response and a binary covariate are subject to misclassification. We assume both a continuous measure and a binary diagnostic test are available for the response variable but no gold standard test is assumed available. We consider a fully Bayesian analysis that affords such adjustments, accounting for the sources of error and correcting estimates of the regression parameters. Based on the results from our example and simulations, the models that account for misclassification produce more statistically significant results, than the models that ignore misclassification. A real data example on math disorders is considered.  相似文献

This paper considers model averaging for the ordered probit and nested logit models, which are widely used in empirical research. Within the frameworks of these models, we examine a range of model averaging methods, including the jackknife method, which is proved to have an optimal asymptotic property in this paper. We conduct a large-scale simulation study to examine the behaviour of these model averaging estimators in finite samples, and draw comparisons with model selection estimators. Our results show that while neither averaging nor selection is a consistently better strategy, model selection results in the poorest estimates far more frequently than averaging, and more often than not, averaging yields superior estimates. Among the averaging methods considered, the one based on a smoothed version of the Bayesian Information criterion frequently produces the most accurate estimates. In three real data applications, we demonstrate the usefulness of model averaging in mitigating problems associated with the ‘replication crisis’ that commonly arises with model selection.  相似文献

This paper presents a Lagrange multiplier test of the normality assumption underlying the ordered probit model. The test is presented both for the standard ordered probit model and a version in which censoring is present in the dependent variable. The test is then compared to normality tests proposed here compares favorably to tests based on artificial regression techinques.  相似文献

Randomized response is an interview technique designed to eliminate response bias when sensitive questions are asked. In this paper, we present a logistic regression model on randomized response data when the covariates on some subjects are missing at random. In particular, we propose Horvitz and Thompson (1952)-type weighted estimators by using different estimates of the selection probabilities. We present large sample theory for the proposed estimators and show that they are more efficient than the estimator using the true selection probabilities. Simulation results support theoretical analysis. We also illustrate the approach using data from a survey of cable TV.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The measurement error model with replicated data on study as well as explanatory variables is considered. The measurement error variance associated with the explanatory variable is estimated using the complete data and the grouped data which is used for the construction of the consistent estimators of regression coefficient. These estimators are further used in constructing an almost unbiased estimator of regression coefficient. The large sample properties of these estimators are derived without assuming any distributional form of the measurement errors and the random error component under the setup of an ultrastructural model.  相似文献

We study the effect of additive and multiplicative Berkson measurement error in Cox proportional hazard model. By plotting the true and the observed survivor function and the true and the observed hazard function dependent on the exposure one can get ideas about the effect of this type of error on the estimation of the slope parameter corresponding to the variable measured with error. As an example, we analyze the measurement error in the situation of the German Uranium Miners Cohort Study both with graphical methods and with a simulation study. We do not see a substantial bias in the presence of small measurement error and in the rare disease case. Even the effect of a Berkson measurement error with high variance, which is not unrealistic in our example, is a negligible attenuation of the observed effect. However, this effect is more pronounced for multiplicative measurement error.  相似文献

Here we consider a multinomial probit regression model where the number of variables substantially exceeds the sample size and only a subset of the available variables is associated with the response. Thus selecting a small number of relevant variables for classification has received a great deal of attention. Generally when the number of variables is substantial, sparsity-enforcing priors for the regression coefficients are called for on grounds of predictive generalization and computational ease. In this paper, we propose a sparse Bayesian variable selection method in multinomial probit regression model for multi-class classification. The performance of our proposed method is demonstrated with one simulated data and three well-known gene expression profiling data: breast cancer data, leukemia data, and small round blue-cell tumors. The results show that compared with other methods, our method is able to select the relevant variables and can obtain competitive classification accuracy with a small subset of relevant genes.  相似文献

Compositional data are known as a sort of complex multidimensional data with the feature that reflect the relative information rather than absolute information. There are a variety of models for regression analysis with compositional variables. Similar to the traditional regression analysis, the heteroskedasticity still exists in these models. However, the existing heteroskedastic regression analysis methods cannot apply in these models with compositional error term. In this paper, we mainly study the heteroskedastic linear regression model with compositional response and covariates. The parameter estimator is obtained through weighted least squares method. For the hypothesis test of parameter, the test statistic is based on the original least squares estimator and corresponding heteroskedasticity-consistent covariance matrix estimator. When the proposed method is applied to both simulation and real example, we use the original least squares method as a comparison during the whole process. The results implicate the model's practicality and effectiveness in regression analysis with heteroskedasticity.  相似文献

A flexible Bayesian semiparametric accelerated failure time (AFT) model is proposed for analyzing arbitrarily censored survival data with covariates subject to measurement error. Specifically, the baseline error distribution in the AFT model is nonparametrically modeled as a Dirichlet process mixture of normals. Classical measurement error models are imposed for covariates subject to measurement error. An efficient and easy-to-implement Gibbs sampler, based on the stick-breaking formulation of the Dirichlet process combined with the techniques of retrospective and slice sampling, is developed for the posterior calculation. An extensive simulation study is conducted to illustrate the advantages of our approach.  相似文献

Measurement error and misclassification arise commonly in various data collection processes. It is well-known that ignoring these features in the data analysis usually leads to biased inference. With the generalized linear model setting, Yi et al. [Functional and structural methods with mixed measurement error and misclassification in covariates. J Am Stat Assoc. 2015;110:681–696] developed inference methods to adjust for the effects of measurement error in continuous covariates and misclassification in discrete covariates simultaneously for the scenario where validation data are available. The augmented simulation-extrapolation (SIMEX) approach they developed generalizes the usual SIMEX method which is only applicable to handle continuous error-prone covariates. To implement this method, we develop an R package, augSIMEX, for public use. Simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the use of the algorithm. This package is available at CRAN.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the ultrahigh-dimensional sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) for censored data and measurement error in covariates. We first propose the feature screening procedure based on censored data and the covariates subject to measurement error. With the suitable correction of mismeasurement, the error-contaminated variables detected by the proposed feature screening procedure are the same as the truly important variables. Based on the selected active variables, we develop the SDR method to estimate the central subspace and the structural dimension with both censored data and measurement error incorporated. The theoretical results of the proposed method are established. Simulation studies are reported to assess the performance of the proposed method. The proposed method is implemented to NKI breast cancer data.  相似文献

In this work, we generalize the controlled calibration model by assuming replication on both variables. Likelihood-based methodology is used to estimate the model parameters and the Fisher information matrix is used to construct confidence intervals for the unknown value of the regressor variable. Further, we study the local influence diagnostic method which is based on the conditional expectation of the complete-data log-likelihood function related to the EM algorithm. Some useful perturbation schemes are discussed. A simulation study is carried out to assess the effect of the measurement error on the estimation of the parameter of interest. This new approach is illustrated with a real data set.  相似文献

This paper studies the problem of mean response estimation where missingness occurs to the response but multiple-dimensional covariates are observable. Two main challenges occur in this situation: curse of dimensionality and model specification. The non parametric imputation method relieves model specification but suffers curse of dimensionality, while some model-based methods such as inverse probability weighting (IPW) and augmented inverse probability weighting (AIPW) methods are the opposite. We propose a unified non parametric method to overcome the two challenges with the aiding of sufficient dimension reduction. It imposes no parametric structure on propensity score or conditional mean response, and thus retains the non parametric flavor. Moreover, the estimator achieves the optimal efficiency that a double robust estimator can attain. Simulations were conducted and it demonstrates the excellent performances of our method in various situations.  相似文献

There has been extensive interest in discussing inference methods for survival data when some covariates are subject to measurement error. It is known that standard inferential procedures produce biased estimation if measurement error is not taken into account. With the Cox proportional hazards model a number of methods have been proposed to correct bias induced by measurement error, where the attention centers on utilizing the partial likelihood function. It is also of interest to understand the impact on estimation of the baseline hazard function in settings with mismeasured covariates. In this paper we employ a weakly parametric form for the baseline hazard function and propose simple unbiased estimating functions for estimation of parameters. The proposed method is easy to implement and it reveals the connection between the naive method ignoring measurement error and the corrected method with measurement error accounted for. Simulation studies are carried out to evaluate the performance of the estimators as well as the impact of ignoring measurement error in covariates. As an illustration we apply the proposed methods to analyze a data set arising from the Busselton Health Study [Knuiman, M.W., Cullent, K.J., Bulsara, M.K., Welborn, T.A., Hobbs, M.S.T., 1994. Mortality trends, 1965 to 1989, in Busselton, the site of repeated health surveys and interventions. Austral. J. Public Health 18, 129–135].  相似文献

Estimating the effect of medical treatments on subject responses is one of the crucial problems in medical research. Matched‐pairs designs are commonly implemented in the field of medical research to eliminate confounding and improve efficiency. In this article, new estimators of treatment effects for heterogeneous matched‐pairs data are proposed. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are derived. Simulation studies show that the proposed estimators have some advantages over the famous Heckman's estimator, the conditional maximum likelihood estimator, and the inverse probability weighted estimator. We apply the proposed methodology to a data set from a study of low‐birth‐weight infants.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the analysis of data obtained from a designed experiment where the experimental design cannot be implemented exactly as planned, because errors in the levels of the variables cannot be avoided or measured. When the primary interest of the investigator lies In obtaining a satisfactory response surface model for the investigated relationship, the precision of the model estimates is essential for successful model building and accurate prediction of the response. An iterative procedure is proposed which estimates the effect of the variable in errors and obtains efficient weighted least squares estimates of the parameters of Interest.  相似文献
