We show that these estimators, contrary to the case of short memory, are neither ?n{\sqrt{n}}-consistent nor asymptotically normal. The normalizations needed to obtain the limiting distributions depend on the long memory parameter d. A direct consequence is that if data are long memory then testing normality with the Jarque–Bera test by using the chi-squared critical values is not valid. Therefore, statistical inference based on skewness, kurtosis, and the Jarque–Bera normality test, needs a rescaling of the corresponding statistics and computing new critical values of their nonstandard limiting distributions.  相似文献

This work considers goodness-of-fit for the life test data with hybrid censoring. An alternative representation of the Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS) statistics is provided under Type-I censoring. The alternative representation leads us to approximate the limiting distributions of the KS statistic as a functional of the Brownian bridge for Type-II, Type-I hybrid, and Type-II hybrid censored data. The approximated distributions are used to obtain the critical values of the tests in this context. We found that the proposed KS test procedure for Type-II censoring has more power than the available one(s) in literature.  相似文献

This paper proposes novel tests for the absence of jumps in a univariate semimartingale and for the absence of common jumps in a bivariate semimartingale. Our methods rely on ratio statistics of power variations based on irregular observations, sampled at different frequencies. We develop central limit theorems for the statistics under the respective null hypotheses and apply bootstrap procedures to assess the limiting distributions. Furthermore, we define corrected statistics to improve the finite sample performance. Simulations show that the test based on our corrected statistic yields good results and even outperforms existing tests in the case of regular observations.  相似文献

We introduce estimation and test procedures through divergence minimization for models satisfying linear constraints with unknown parameter. These procedures extend the empirical likelihood (EL) method and share common features with generalized empirical likelihood approach. We treat the problems of existence and characterization of the divergence projections of probability distributions on sets of signed finite measures. We give a precise characterization of duality, for the proposed class of estimates and test statistics, which is used to derive their limiting distributions (including the EL estimate and the EL ratio statistic) both under the null hypotheses and under alternatives or misspecification. An approximation to the power function is deduced as well as the sample size which ensures a desired power for a given alternative.  相似文献

This article proposes consistent nonparametric methods for testing the null hypothesis of Lorenz dominance. The methods are based on a class of statistical functionals defined over the difference between the Lorenz curves for two samples of welfare-related variables. We present two specific test statistics belonging to the general class and derive their asymptotic properties. As the limiting distributions of the test statistics are nonstandard, we propose and justify bootstrap methods of inference. We provide methods appropriate for case where the two samples are independent as well as the case where the two samples represent different measures of welfare for one set of individuals. The small sample performance of the two tests is examined and compared in the context of a Monte Carlo study and an empirical analysis of income and consumption inequality.  相似文献

The use of generalized inverses in Wald's-type quadratic forms of test statistics having singular normal limiting distributions does not guarantee to obtain chi-square limiting distributions. In this article, the use of {2} -inverses for that problem is investigated. Alternatively, Imhof-based test statistics can also be defined, which converge in distribution to weighted sum of chi-square variables. The asymptotic distributions of these test statistics under the null and alternative hypotheses are discussed. Under fixed and local alternatives, the asymptotic powers are compared theoretically. Simulation studies are also performed to compare the exact powers of the test statistics in finite samples. A data analysis on the temperature and precipitation variability in the European Alps illustrates the proposed methods.  相似文献

The two-sample, distribution-free statistics of Smirnov (1939) are used to define a new statistic. While the Smirnov statistics are used as a general goodness-of-fit test, a distribution-free scale test based on this new statistic is developed. It is shown that this new test has higher power than the two-sided Smirnov statistic in detecting differences in scale for some symmetric distributions with equal means/medians. The critical values of the proposed test statistic and its limiting distribution are given  相似文献

We extend the Weibull power series (WPS) class of distributions to the new class of extended Weibull power series (EWPS) class of distributions. The EWPS distributions are related to series and parallel systems with a random number of components, whereas the WPS distributions [Morais AL, Barreto-Souza W. A compound class of Weibull and power series distributions. Computational Statistics and Data Analysis. 2011;55:1410–1425] are related to series systems only. Unlike the WPS distributions, for which the Weibull is a limiting special case, the Weibull law is a particular case of the EWPS distributions. We prove that the distributions in this class are identifiable under a simple assumption. We also prove stochastic and hazard rate order results and highlight that the shapes of the EWPS distributions are markedly more flexible than the shapes of the WPS distributions. We define a regression model for the EWPS response random variable to model a scale parameter and its quantiles. We present the maximum likelihood estimator and prove its consistency and asymptotic normal distribution. Although series and parallel systems motivated the construction of this class, the EWPS distributions are suitable for modelling a wide range of positive data sets. To illustrate potential uses of this model, we apply it to a real data set on the tensile strength of coconut fibres and present a simple device for diagnostic purposes.  相似文献

In this paper, tests for the skewness parameter of the two-piece double exponential distribution are derived when the location parameter is unknown. Classical tests like Neyman structure test and likelihood ratio test (LRT), that are generally used to test hypotheses in the presence of nuisance parameters, are not feasible for this distribution since the exact distributions of the test statistics become very complicated. As an alternative, we identify a set of statistics that are ancillary for the location parameter. When the scale parameter is known, Neyman–Pearson's lemma is used, and when the scale parameter is unknown, the LRT is applied to the joint density function of ancillary statistics, in order to obtain a test for the skewness parameter of the distribution. Test for symmetry of the distribution can be deduced as a special case. It is found that power of the proposed tests for symmetry is only marginally less than the power of corresponding classical optimum tests when the location parameter is known, especially for moderate and large sample sizes.  相似文献

We are concerned with three different types of multivariate chi-square distributions. Their members play important roles as limiting distributions of vectors of test statistics in several applications of multiple hypotheses testing. We explain these applications and consider the computation of multiplicity-adjusted p-values under the respective global hypothesis. By means of numerical examples, we demonstrate how much gain in level exhaustion or, equivalently, power can be achieved with corresponding multivariate multiple tests compared with approaches which are only based on univariate marginal distributions and do not take the dependence structure among the test statistics into account. As a further contribution of independent value, we provide an overview of essentially all analytic formulas for computing multivariate chi-square probabilities of the considered types which are available up to present. These formulas were scattered in the previous literature and are presented here in a unified manner.  相似文献

For the modeling of bounded counts, the binomial distribution is a common choice. In applications, however, one often observes an excessive number of zeros and extra-binomial variation, which cannot be explained by a binomial distribution. We propose statistics to evaluate the number of zeros and the dispersion with respect to a binomial model, which is based on the sample binomial index of dispersion and the sample binomial zero index. We apply this index to autocorrelated counts generated by a binomial autoregressive process of order one, which also includes the special case of independent and identically (i. i. d.) bounded counts. The limiting null distributions of the proposed test statistics are derived. A Monte-Carlo study evaluates their size and power under various alternatives. Finally, we present two real-data applications as well as the derivation of effective sample sizes to illustrate the proposed methodology.  相似文献

This paper studies regression models with a lagged dependent variable when both the dependent and independent variables are nonstationary, and the regression model is misspecified in some dimension. In particular, we discuss the limiting properties of leastsquares estimates of the parameters in such regression models, and the limiting distributions of their test statistics. We show that the estimate of the lagged dependent variable tends to unity asymptotically independent of its true value, while the estimates of the independent variables tend to zero. The limiting distributions of their test statistics are shown to diverge with sample size.  相似文献

In this article, we consider nonparametric test procedures based on a group of quantile test statistics. We consider the quadratic form for the two-sided test and the maximal and summing types of statistics for the one-sided alternatives. Then we derive the null limiting distributions of the proposed test statistics using the large sample approximation theory. Also, we consider applying the permutation principle to obtain the null distribution. In this vein, we may consider the supremum type, which should use the permutation principle for obtaining the null distribution. Then we illustrate our procedure with an example and compare the proposed tests with other existing tests including the individual quantile tests by obtaining empirical powers through simulation study. Also, we comment on the related discussions to this testing procedure as concluding remarks. Finally we prove the lemmas and theorems in the appendices.  相似文献

The aim of this article is twofold: on the one hand to introduce and study some of the statistical properties of an estimator for the Shannon entropy and on the other hand to develop a goodness-of-fit test for beta-generated distributions and the distribution of order statistics. Beta-generated distributions are a broad class of univariate distributions which has received great attention during the last 15 years, as it obeys nice properties and it extends the distribution of order statistics. The proposed estimator of Shannon entropy of beta-generated distributions is motivated by the respective Vasicek’s estimator, as the latter one is tailored to the class of the beta-generated distributions and the distribution of order statistics. The estimator of Shannon entropy is defined and its consistency is studied. It is, moreover, exploited to build a goodness-of-fit test for the beta-generated distribution and the distribution of order statistics. Simulations are performed to examine the small- and moderate-sample properties of the proposed estimator and to compare the power of the proposed test with the power of competitors under a variety of alternatives.  相似文献

In this article, we assume that the distribution of the error terms is skew t in two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Skew t distribution is very flexible for modeling the symmetric and the skew datasets, since it reduces to the well-known normal, skew normal, and Student's t distributions. We obtain the estimators of the model parameters by using the maximum likelihood (ML) and the modified maximum likelihood (MML) methodologies. We also propose new test statistics based on these estimators for testing the equality of the treatment and the block means and also the interaction effect. The efficiencies of the ML and the MML estimators and the power values of the test statistics based on them are compared with the corresponding normal theory results via Monte Carlo simulation study. Simulation results show that the proposed methodologies are more preferable. We also show that the test statistics based on the ML estimators are more powerful than the test statistics based on the MML estimators as expected. However, power values of the test statistics based on the MML estimators are very close to the corresponding test statistics based on the ML estimators. At the end of the study, a real life example is given to show the implementation of the proposed methodologies.  相似文献

This paper investigates the hypothesis test of the parametric component in partially linear errors-in-variables (EV) model with random censorship. We construct two test statistics based on the difference of the corrected residual sum of squares and empirical likelihood ratio under the null and alternative hypotheses. It is shown that the limiting distributions of the proposed test statistics are both weighted sum of independent standard chi-squared distribution with one degree of freedom under the null hypothesis. Based on the adjusted test statistics, we further develop two new types of test procedures. Finite sample performance of the proposed test procedures is evaluated by extensive simulation studies.  相似文献

We derive asymptotic expansions for the nonnull distribution functions of the likelihood ratio, Wald, score and gradient test statistics in the class of dispersion models, under a sequence of Pitman alternatives. The asymptotic distributions of these statistics are obtained for testing a subset of regression parameters and for testing the precision parameter. Based on these nonnull asymptotic expansions, the power of all four tests, which are equivalent to first order, are compared. Furthermore, in order to compare the finite-sample performance of these tests in this class of models, Monte Carlo simulations are presented. An empirical application to a real data set is considered for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Testing symmetry under a skew Laplace model   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We develop tests of hypothesis about symmetry based on samples from possibly asymmetric Laplace distributions and present exact and limiting distribution of the test statistics. We postulate that the test statistic derived under the Laplace model is a rational choice as a measure of skewness and can be used in testing symmetry for other, quite general classes of skew distributions. Our results are applied to foreign exchange rates for 15 currencies.  相似文献

In this study, we propose nonparametric tests using the several quantile statistics simultaneously for the right censored data. First of all, we consider statistics of the quadratic form with estimated covariance matrices. Then we derive the limiting distribution using the large sample approximation theory. Also we consider different forms of statistics such as the maximal and summing types with their limiting distributions. Then we illustrate our procedure with examples and compare performance among tests with empirical powers through a simulation study. Also we comment briefly on some interesting features including re-sampling methods as concluding remarks. Finally in Appendices, we provide proofs for the theoretic results needed for the derivation of the limiting distributions of the proposed test statistics.  相似文献
