Recursive estimation and recursive residuals are introduced for generalised linear models (GLIM). Their definitions parallel those of normal theory regression models and relate to one of the outlier model definitions of GLIM residuals. An example illustrates their use.  相似文献

In this paper, we study inference in a heteroscedastic measurement error model with known error variances. Instead of the normal distribution for the random components, we develop a model that assumes a skew-t distribution for the true covariate and a centred Student's t distribution for the error terms. The proposed model enables to accommodate skewness and heavy-tailedness in the data, while the degrees of freedom of the distributions can be different. Maximum likelihood estimates are computed via an EM-type algorithm. The behaviour of the estimators is also assessed in a simulation study. Finally, the approach is illustrated with a real data set from a methods comparison study in Analytical Chemistry.  相似文献

Linear models are considered in which measurement error is present in the dependent variable. Observed values are related to true values via nonlinear regression models with the parameters in the measurement error models being estimated with the use of independent, external data, collected using standards. Pseudo-maximum likelihood estimators and their asymptotic properties are developed under normality assumptions and the common approach of simply analyzing imputed values obtained from the nestimated calibration curves is assessed. A small simulation evaluates the procedures. An example is presented in which urinary neopterin (measured via radioimmunoassay) is nbeing compared between two groups of individuals.  相似文献

For a general univariate “errors-in-variables” model, the maximum likelihood estimate of the parameter vector (assuming normality of the errors), which has been described in the literature, can be expressed in an alternative form. In this form, the estimate is computationally simpler, and deeper investigation of its properties is facilitated. In particular, w demonstrate that, under conditions a good deal less restrictive than those which have been previously assumed, the estimate is weakly consistent.  相似文献

This paper considers the conditional approach to linear models in which the exact theoretical results are unavailable except in terms of multiple integrals. A class of multidimensional error distributions that emulate elongated error distributions is discussed. The appropriate conditional distributions are derived along with several properties of these distributions.  相似文献

This paper discusses a general strategy for reducing measurement-error-induced bias in statistical models. It is assumed that the measurement error is unbiased with a known variance although no other distributional assumptions on the measurement-error are employed,

Using a preliminary fit of the model to the observed data, a transformation of the variable measured with error is estimated. The transformation is constructed so that the estimates obtained by refitting the model to the ‘corrected’ data have smaller bias,

Whereas the general strategy can be applied in a number of settings, this paper focuses on the problem of covariate measurement error in generalized linear models, Two estimators are derived and their effectiveness at reducing bias is demonstrated in a Monte Carlo study.  相似文献

Variance estimation is a fundamental yet important problem in statistical modelling. In this paper, we propose jackknife empirical likelihood (JEL) methods for the error variance in a linear regression model. We prove that the JEL ratio converges to the standard chi-squared distribution. The asymptotic chi-squared properties for the adjusted JEL and extended JEL estimators are also established. Extensive simulation studies to compare the new JEL methods with the standard method in terms of coverage probability and interval length are conducted, and the simulation results show that our proposed JEL methods perform better than the standard method. We also illustrate the proposed methods using two real data sets.  相似文献

Algorithms for computing the maximum likelihood estimators and the estimated covariance matrix of the estimators of the factor model are derived. The algorithms are particularly suitable for large matrices and for samples that give zero estimates of some error variances. A method of constructing estimators for reduced models is presented. The algorithms can also be used for the multivariate errors-in-variables model with known error covariance matrix.  相似文献

This paper focuses on studying the accuracy of two well-known estimators in a simple errors-in-variables model, the ordinary least squares and the corrected least squares estimator. As a measure of accuracy of the estimators, the mean squared error is adopted. While Ketellapper (1983) addressed this issue for the case where the error of measurement in the independent variable is known, the present article is concerned with this comparison for the case where the ratio of the error variances is known. Comparison of the mean squared errors of the above estimators leads to a simple rule involving quantities estimable from the data, which can be used for deciding which of the two to be preferred on the basis of higher accuracy.  相似文献

In this paper the most commonly used diagnostic criteria for the identification of outliers or leverage points in the ordinary regression model are reviewed. Their use in the context of the errors-in-variables (e.v.) linear model is discussed and evidence is given that under the e.v. model assumptions the distinction between outliers and leverage points no longer exists.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we extend a variance shift model, previously considered in the linear mixed models, to the linear mixed measurement error models using the corrected likelihood of Nakamura (1990 Nakamura, T. (1990). Corrected score function for errors in variables models: methodology and application to generalized linear models. Biometrika 77:127137.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). This model assumes that a single outlier arises from an observation with inflated variance. We derive the score test and the analogue of the likelihood ratio test, to assess whether the ith observation has inflated variance. A parametric bootstrap procedure is implemented to obtain empirical distributions of the test statistics. Finally, results of a simulation study and an example of real data are presented to illustrate the performance of proposed tests.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop modified versions of the likelihood ratio test for multivariate heteroskedastic errors-in-variables regression models. The error terms are allowed to follow a multivariate distribution in the elliptical class of distributions, which has the normal distribution as a special case. We derive the Skovgaard-adjusted likelihood ratio statistics, which follow a chi-squared distribution with a high degree of accuracy. We conduct a simulation study and show that the proposed tests display superior finite sample behaviour as compared to the standard likelihood ratio test. We illustrate the usefulness of our results in applied settings using a data set from the WHO MONICA Project on cardiovascular disease.  相似文献

This paper provides Bartlett corrections to improve likelihood ratio tests for heteroskedastic normal linear models when the error covariance matrix is nonscaiar and depends on a set of unknown parameters. The Bartlett corrections are simple enough to be used algebraically to obtain several closed-form expressions in special cases. The corrections have also advantages for numerical purposes because they involve only simple operations on matrices and vectors.  相似文献

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we investigate estimations in varying-coefficient partially linear errors-in-variables models with covariates missing at random. However, the estimators are often biased due to the existence of measurement errors, the bias-corrected profile least-squares estimator and local liner estimators for unknown parametric and coefficient functions are obtained based on inverse probability weighted method. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators both for the parameter and nonparametric parts are established. Second, we study asymptotic distributions of an empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic and maximum empirical likelihood estimator for the unknown parameter. Based on this, more accurate confidence regions of the unknown parameter can be constructed. The methods are examined through simulation studies and illustrated by a real data analysis.  相似文献

There exists a recent study where dynamic mixed‐effects regression models for count data have been extended to a semi‐parametric context. However, when one deals with other discrete data such as binary responses, the results based on count data models are not directly applicable. In this paper, we therefore begin with existing binary dynamic mixed models and generalise them to the semi‐parametric context. For inference, we use a new semi‐parametric conditional quasi‐likelihood (SCQL) approach for the estimation of the non‐parametric function involved in the semi‐parametric model, and a semi‐parametric generalised quasi‐likelihood (SGQL) approach for the estimation of the main regression, dynamic dependence and random effects variance parameters. A semi‐parametric maximum likelihood (SML) approach is also used as a comparison to the SGQL approach. The properties of the estimators are examined both asymptotically and empirically. More specifically, the consistency of the estimators is established and finite sample performances of the estimators are examined through an intensive simulation study.  相似文献

An alternate representation of the densities of some test statistics for the structural coefficients of the multivariate linear functional relationship model is proposed in this article. These statistics are distributed as the ratio of a linear combination of chi-square variÂtes over the root of a product of chi-square variÂtes. A computable representation of their densities has already been derived by Provost (1984) with the help of the technique of the inverse Mellin transform. The connection of the alternate representation to the densities of products of independent beta type-2 and of independent F-random variables is also discussed.  相似文献

The author develops a robust quasi‐likelihood method, which appears to be useful for down‐weighting any influential data points when estimating the model parameters. He illustrates the computational issues of the method in an example. He uses simulations to study the behaviour of the robust estimates when data are contaminated with outliers, and he compares these estimates to those obtained by the ordinary quasi‐likelihood method.  相似文献

Starting from the criterion of minimum asymptotic mean-squared error, this note compares the least squares estimator with the consistent estimator [ybar]/[xbar] where [ybar]and [xbar] are the sample means of the dependent and the independent variable respectively.  相似文献

This paper considers constructing a new confidence interval for the slope parameter in the structural errors-in-variables model with known error variance associated with the regressors. Existing confidence intervals are so severely affected by Gleser–Hwang effect that they are subject to have poor empirical coverage probabilities and unsatisfactory lengths. Moreover, these problems get worse with decreasing reliability ratio which also result in more frequent absence of some existing intervals. To ease these issues, this paper presents a fiducial generalized confidence interval which maintains the correct asymptotic coverage. Simulation results show that this fiducial interval is slightly conservative while often having average length comparable or shorter than the other methods. Finally, we illustrate these confidence intervals with two real data examples, and in the second example some existing intervals do not exist.  相似文献
