This article proposes the maximum likelihood estimates based on bare bones particle swarm optimization (BBPSO) algorithm for estimating the parameters of Weibull distribution with censored data, which is widely used in lifetime data analysis. This approach can produce more accuracy of the parameter estimation for the Weibull distribution. Additionally, the confidence intervals for the estimators are obtained. The simulation results show that the BB PSO algorithm outperforms the Newton–Raphson method in most cases in terms of bias, root mean square of errors, and coverage rate. Two examples are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. The results show that the maximum likelihood estimates via BBPSO algorithm perform well for estimating the Weibull parameters with censored data.  相似文献

Efficient industrial experiments for reliability analysis of manufactured goods may consist in subjecting the units to higher stress levels than those of the usual working conditions. This results in the so called "accelerated life tests" where, for each pre-fixed stress level, the experiment ends after the failure of a certain pre-fixed proportion of units or a certain test time is reached. The aim of this paper is to determine estimates of the mean lifetime of the units under usual working conditions from censored failure data obtained under stress conditions. This problem is approached through generalized linear modelling and related inferential techniques, considering a Weibull failure distribution and a log-linear stress-response relationship. The general framework considered has as particular cases, the Inverse Power Law model, the Eyring model, the Arrhenius model and the generalized Eyring model. In order to illustrate the proposed methodology, a numerical example is provided.  相似文献

In this article, we present the performance of the maximum likelihood estimates of the Burr XII parameters for constant-stress partially accelerated life tests under multiple censored data. Two maximum likelihood estimation methods are considered. One method is based on observed-data likelihood function and the maximum likelihood estimates are obtained by using the quasi-Newton algorithm. The other method is based on complete-data likelihood function and the maximum likelihood estimates are derived by using the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm. The variance–covariance matrices are derived to construct the confidence intervals of the parameters. The performance of these two algorithms is compared with each other by a simulation study. The simulation results show that the maximum likelihood estimation via the EM algorithm outperforms the quasi-Newton algorithm in terms of the absolute relative bias, the bias, the root mean square error and the coverage rate. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the performance of the proposed methods.  相似文献

Exact confidence interval estimation for accelerated life regression models with censored smallest extreme value (or Weibull) data is often impractical. This paper evaluates the accuracy of approximate confidence intervals based on the asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimator, the asymptotic X2distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic, mean and variance correction to the likelihood ratio statistic, and the so-called Bartlett correction to the likelihood ratio statistic. The Monte Carlo evaluations under various degrees of time censoring show that uncorrected likelihood ratio intervals are very accurate in situations with heavy censoring. The benefits of mean and variance correction to the likelihood ratio statistic are only realized with light or no censoring. Bartlett correction tends to result in conservative intervals. Intervals based on the asymptotic normality of maximum likelihood estimators are anticonservative and should be used with much caution.  相似文献

Recently, progressively hybrid censoring schemes have become quite popular in life testing and reliability studies. In this article, the point and interval maximum-likelihood estimations of Weibull distribution parameters and the acceleration factor are considered. The estimation process is performed under Type-I progressively hybrid censored data for a step-stress partially accelerated test model. The biases and mean square errors of the maximum-likelihood estimators are computed to assess their performances in the presence of censoring developed in this article through a Monte Carlo simulation study.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate some inference and design problems related to multiple constant-stress accelerated life test with progressive type-I interval censoring. A Weibull lifetime distribution at each stress-level combination is considered. The scale parameter of Weibull distribution is assumed to be a log-linear function of stresses. We obtain the estimates of the unknown parameters through the method of maximum likelihood, and also derive the Fisher's information matrix. The optimal number of test units, number of inspections, and length of the inspection interval are determined under D-optimality, T-optimality, and E-optimality criteria with cost constraint. An algorithm based on nonlinear mixed-integer programming is proposed to the optimal solution. The sensitivity of the optimal solution to changes in the values of the different parameters is studied.  相似文献

The most natural parametric distribution to consider is the Weibull model because it allows for both the proportional hazard model and accelerated failure time model. In this paper, we propose a new bivariate Weibull regression model based on censored samples with common covariates. There are some interesting biometrical applications which motivate to study bivariate Weibull regression model in this particular situation. We obtain maximum likelihood estimators for the parameters in the model and test the significance of the regression parameters in the model. We present a simulation study based on 1000 samples and also obtain the power of the test statistics.  相似文献

Lifetimes of modern mechanic or electronic units usually exhibit bathtub-shaped failure rates. An appropriate probability distribution to model such data is the modified Weibull distribution proposed by Lai et al. [15]. This distribution has both the two-parameter Weibull and type-1 extreme value distribution as special cases. It is able to model lifetime data with monotonic and bathtub-shaped failure rates, and thus attracts some interest among researchers because of this property. In this paper, the procedure of obtaining the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters for progressively type-2 censored and complete samples are studied. Existence and uniqueness of the MLEs are proved.  相似文献

This article introduces a new generalization of the transmuted Weibull distribution introduced by Aryal and Tsokos in 2011. We refer to the new distribution as exponentiated transmuted Weibull geometric (ETWG) distribution. The new model contains 22 lifetime distributions as special cases such as the exponentiated Weibull geometric, complementary Weibull geometric, exponentiated transmuted Weibull, exponentiated Weibull, and Weibull distributions, among others. The properties of the new model are discussed and the maximum likelihood estimation is used to evaluate the parameters. Explicit expressions are derived for the moments and examine the order statistics. To examine the performance of our new model in fitting several data we use two real sets of data, censored and uncensored, and then compare the fitting of the new model with some nested and nonnested models, which provides the best fit to all of the data. A simulation has been performed to assess the behavior of the maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters under the finite samples. This model is capable of modeling various shapes of aging and failure criteria.  相似文献

In this paper, the maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayes, by using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), methods are considered to estimate the parameters of three-parameter modified Weibull distribution (MWD(β, τ, λ)) based on a right censored sample of generalized order statistics (gos). Simulation experiments are conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methods. Some comparisons are carried out between the ML and Bayes methods by computing the mean squared errors (MSEs), Akaike's information criteria (AIC) and Bayesian information criteria (BIC) of the estimates to illustrate the paper. Three real data sets from Weibull(α, β) distribution are introduced and analyzed using the MWD(β, τ, λ) and also using the Weibull(α, β) distribution. A comparison is carried out between the mentioned models based on the corresponding Kolmogorov–Smirnov (KS) test statistic, {AIC and BIC} to emphasize that the MWD(β, τ, λ) fits the data better than the other distribution. All parameters are estimated based on type-II censored sample, censored upper record values and progressively type-II censored sample which are generated from the real data sets.  相似文献

In partial step-stress accelerated life testing, models extrapolating data obtained under more severe conditions to infer the lifetime distribution under normal use conditions are needed. Bhattacharyya (Invited paper for 46th session of the ISI, 1987) proposed a tampered Brownian motion process model and later derived the probability distribution from a decay process perspective without linear assumption. In this paper, the model is described and the features of the failure time distribution are discussed. The maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters in the model and their asymptotic properties are presented. An application of models for step-stress accelerated life test to fields other than engineering is described and illustrated by applying the tampered Brownian motion process model to data taken from a clinical trial.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a statistical inference procedure for the step-stress accelerated life testing (SSALT) model with Weibull failure time distribution and interval censoring via the formulation of generalized linear model (GLM). The likelihood function of an interval censored SSALT is in general too complicated to obtain analytical results. However, by transforming the failure time to an exponential distribution and using a binomial random variable for failure counts occurred in inspection intervals, a GLM formulation with a complementary log-log link function can be constructed. The estimations of the regression coefficients used for the Weibull scale parameter are obtained through the iterative weighted least square (IWLS) method, and the shape parameter is updated by a direct maximum likelihood (ML) estimation. The confidence intervals for these parameters are estimated through bootstrapping. The application of the proposed GLM approach is demonstrated by an industrial example.  相似文献

In this paper, the estimation of parameters for a three-parameter Weibull distribution based on progressively Type-II right censored sample is studied. Different estimation procedures for complete sample are generalized to the case with progressively censored data. These methods include the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs), corrected MLEs, weighted MLEs, maximum product spacing estimators and least squares estimators. We also proposed the use of a censored estimation method with one-step bias-correction to obtain reliable initial estimates for iterative procedures. These methods are compared via a Monte Carlo simulation study in terms of their biases, root mean squared errors and their rates of obtaining reliable estimates. Recommendations are made from the simulation results and a numerical example is presented to illustrate all of the methods of inference developed here.  相似文献

Accelerated life testing of a product under more severe than normal conditions is commonly used to reduce test time and costs. Data collected at such accelerated conditions are used to obtain estimates of the parameters of a stress translation function. This function is then used to make inference about the product's life under normal operating conditions. We consider the problem of accelerated life tests when the product of interest is a p component series system. Each of the components is assumed to have an independent Weibull time to failure distribution with different shape parameters and different scale parameters which are increasing functions stress. A general model i s used for the scale parameter includes the standard engineering models as special This model also has an appealing biological interpretation  相似文献

Accelerated life testing is widely used in product life testing experiments since it provides significant reduction in time and cost of testing. In this paper, assuming that the lifetime of items under use condition follow the two-parameter Pareto distribution of the second kind, partially accelerated life tests based on progressively Type-II censored samples are considered. The likelihood equations of the model parameters and the acceleration factor are reduced to a single nonlinear equation to be solved numerically to obtain the maximum-likelihood estimates (MLEs). Based on normal approximation to the asymptotic distribution of MLEs, the approximate confidence intervals (ACIs) for the parameters are derived. Two bootstrap CIs are also proposed. The classical Bayes estimates cannot be obtained in explicit form, so we propose to apply Markov chain Monte Carlo method to tackle this problem, which allows us to construct the credible interval of the involved parameters. Analysis of a simulated data set has also been presented for illustrative purposes. Finally, a Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to investigate the precision of the Bayes estimates with MLEs and to compare the performance of different corresponding CIs considered.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new method of estimation for the parameters and quantiles of the three-parameter Weibull distribution based on Type-II right censored data. The method, based on a data transformation, overcomes the problem of unbounded likelihood. In the proposed method, under mild conditions, the estimates always exist uniquely, and the estimators are also consistent over the entire parameter space. Through Monte Carlo simulations, we further show that the proposed method of estimation performs well compared to some prominent methods in terms of bias and root mean squared error in small-sample situations. Finally, two real data sets are used to illustrate the proposed method of estimation.  相似文献

Various types of failure, censored and accelerated life tests, are commonly employed for life testing in some manufacturing industries and products that are highly reliable. In this article, we consider the tampered failure rate model as one of such types that relate the distribution under use condition to the distribution under accelerated condition. It is assumed that the lifetimes of products under use condition have generalized Pareto distribution as a lifetime model. Some estimation methods such as graphical, moments, probability weighted moments, and maximum likelihood estimation methods for the parameters are discussed based on progressively type-I censored data. The determination of optimal stress change time is discussed under two different criteria of optimality. Finally, a Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of the estimation methods and the optimality criteria.  相似文献

Based on progressive Type-I hybrid censored data, statistical analysis in constant-stress accelerated life test (CS-ALT) for generalized exponential (GE) distribution is discussed. The maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters and the reliability function are obtained with EM algorithm, as well as the observed Fisher information matrix, the asymptotic variance-covariance matrix of the MLEs, and the asymptotic unbiased estimate (AUE) of the scale parameter. Confidence intervals (CIs) for the parameters are derived using asymptotic normality of MLEs and percentile bootstrap (Boot-p) method. Finally, the point estimates and interval estimates of the parameters are compared separately through the Monte-Carlo method.  相似文献

On the basis of Awad sup-entropy, the efficiency function for type-I censored sample from the Weibull distribution is numerically introduced. The properties of the derived efficiency are discussed. Furthermore, for a given efficiency, the termination time of the experiment, and the maximum likelihood estimates for the Weibull parameters, are proposed. Simulation results are tabulated and discussed. Censored and complete samples are compared for a wide range of the efficiency. The comparisons show the quality of the developed algorithms and the effectiveness of using censoring in estimating with the Weibull distribution.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a constant stress accelerated life test terminated by a hybrid Type-I censoring at the first stress level. The model is based on a general log-location-scale lifetime distribution with mean life being a linear function of stress and with constant scale. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) and the approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLE) of the model parameters. Approximate confidence intervals, likelihood ratio tests and two bootstrap methods are used to construct confidence intervals for the unknown parameters of the Weibull and lognormal distributions using the MLEs. Finally, a simulation study and two illustrative examples are provided to demonstrate the performance of the developed inferential methods.  相似文献
