Exchange algorithms are popular for finding optimal or efficient designs for linear models, but there are few discussions of this type of algorithm for generalized linear models (GLMs) in literature. A new algorithm, generalized Coordinate Exchange Algorithm (gCEA), is developed in this article to construct efficient designs for GLMs. We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with other optimization algorithms, including point exchange algorithm, columnwise-pairwise algorithm, simulated annealing and generic algorithm, and demonstrate the superior performance of this new algorithm. 相似文献

Optimal Designs for Binary Logistic Regression with a Qualitative Classifier with Independent Levels
Dose response studies arise in many medical applications. Often, such studies are considered within the framework of binary-response experiments such as success-failure. In such cases, popular choices for modeling the probability of response are logistic or probit models. Design optimality has been well studied for the logistic model with a continuous covariate. A natural extension of the logistic model is to consider the presence of a qualitative classifier. In this work, we explore D-, A-, and E-optimal designs in a two-parameter, binary logistic regression model after introducing a binary, qualitative classifier with independent levels. 相似文献

Global sensitivity indices play important roles in global sensitivity analysis based on ANOVA high-dimensional model representation. However, few effective methods are available for the estimation of the indices when the objective function is a non-parametric model. In this paper, we explore the estimation of global sensitivity indices of non-parametric models. The main result (Theorem 2.1) shows that orthogonal arrays (OAs) are A-optimality designs for the estimation of ΘM, the definition of which can be seen in Section 1. Estimators of global sensitivity indices are proposed based on orthogonal arrays and proved to be accurate for small indices. The performance of the estimators is illustrated by a simulation study. 相似文献

In this article, we derive optimum designs for parameter estimation in a mixture experiment when the response function is linear in the mixing components with some synergistic effects. Minimum aberration designs are preferred in practice, especially when it is desired to carry out a multi-factor experiment using less number of runs. Several authors considered constructions of minimum aberration designs. Some used computer algorithms and some listed good designs from the exhausted search. We propose a simple method to obtain minimum aberration designs for experiments of size less than or equal to thirty-two. Here, we use an ordered sequence of columns from an orthogonal array to design experiments and blocked experiments. When the method is implemented in MS Excel, minimum aberration designs can be easily achieved. 相似文献

In a two-level factorial experiment, we consider orthogonal designs that allow joint estimation of the grand mean, all main effects, and certain classes of two-level interactions, assuming that the remaining effects are all negligible. Based on a judicious allocation of the factorial effects of interest to the columns of a Hadamard matrix, we propose some general classes of orthogonal and saturated designs which include some existing orthogonal main-effect plans of asymmetric factorials as special cases. 相似文献

There has been much recent interest in supersaturated designs and their application in factor screening experiments. Supersaturated designs have mainly been constructed by using the E ( s 2 )-optimality criterion originally proposed by Booth and Cox in 1962. For two-level factorials, we consider designs in N=2 (mod 4) runs as obtained by adding two runs, with a certain coincidence pattern, to an orthogonal array of strength two. These designs are known to be optimal main effect plans in a very broad sense in the absence of interactions. Among them, we explore the ones having minimum aberration, with a view to ensuring maximum model robustness even when interactions are possibly present. The objective of this article is to study the issue of employing the uniformity criterion measured by wrap-around L2-discrepancy to assess the optimal foldover plans. For mixed two- and three-level fractional factorials as the original designs, general foldover plan and combined design under a foldover plan are defined, and the equivalence between any foldover plan and its complementary foldover plan is investigated. A lower bound of wrap-around L2-discrepancy of combined designs under a general foldover plan is obtained, which can be used as a benchmark for searching optimal foldover plans. This article extends the resolution of time trend free designs for sequential 2n-p experiments from III into IV and minimizes the number of factor level changes between runs (i.e., cost) by constructing a catalog of (2k?2 ?1) minimum cost linear trend free resolution IV 2n?(n?k) designs (2k?2 ≤ n ≤ 2k?1?2) from the full 2k factorial experiment using the interactions-main effects assignment technique. Each systematic 2n?(n?k) design in the catalog is economic in minimum number of factor level changes and allows for the estimation of all n main effects unbiased by either the linear time trend (which may be present in the 2n?(n?k) sequentially generated responses) or the non negligible two-factor interactions. This article provides for each 2n?(n?k) design: (1) the defining relation or the alias structure; (2) the k independent generators for sequencing the 2n?(n?k) runs by the generalized foldover scheme; and (3) the minimum cost represented by the total number of factor level changes between the 2n?(n?k) runs. All k main effects of the 2k experiment are excluded from the selection assignment process due to their nonlinear time trend resistance as well as excluding a total of (2k?1 –k +1) interactions violating the resolution IV requirement. 相似文献

A random coefficient autoregressive process for count data based on a generalized thinning operator is presented. Existence and weak stationarity conditions for these models are established. For the particular case of the (generalized) binomial thinning, it is proved that the necessary and sufficient conditions for weak stationarity are the same as those for continuous-valued AR(1) processes. These kinds of processes are appropriate for modelling non-linear integer-valued time series. They allow for over-dispersion and are appropriate when including covariates. Distribution fitting is widely practiced in all branches of engineering and applied science, yet only a few studies have examined the relative capability of various parameter-rich families of distributions to represent a wide spectrum of diversely shaped distributions. In this article, two such families of distributions, Generalized Lambda Distribution (GLD) and Response Modeling Methodology (RMM), are compared. For a sample of some commonly used distributions, each family is fitted to each distribution, using two methods: fitting by minimization of the L 2 norm (minimizing density function distance) and nonlinear regression applied to a sample of exact quantile values (minimizing quantile function distance). The resultant goodness-of-fit is assessed by four criteria: the optimized value of the L 2 norm, and three additional criteria, relating to quantile function matching. Results show that RMM is uniformly better than GLD. An additional study includes Shore's quantile function (QF) and again RMM is the best performer, followed by Shore's QF and then GLD. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Because of its flexibility and usefulness, Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) has been widely used for clinical data analysis. In general, however, AIC is used without paying much attention to sample size. If sample sizes are not large enough, it is possible that the AIC approach does not lead us to the conclusions which we seek. This article focuses on the sample size determination for AIC approach to clinical data analysis. We consider a situation in which outcome variables are dichotomous and propose a method for sample size determination under this situation. The basic idea is also applicable to the situations in which outcome variables have more than two categories or outcome variables are continuous. Robustness against design breakdown following observation loss is investigated for Partially Balanced Incomplete Block Designs with two associate classes (PBIBD(2)s). New results are obtained which add to the body of knowledge on PBIBD(2)s. In particular, using an approach based on the E‐value of a design, all PBIBD(2)s with triangular and Latin square association schemes are established as having optimal block breakdown number. Furthermore, for group divisible designs not covered by existing results in the literature, a sufficient condition for optimal block breakdown number establishes that all members of some design sub‐classes have this property. 相似文献
