In this note, the asymptotic variance formulas are explicitly derived and compared between the parametric and semiparametric estimators of a regression parameter and survival probability under the additive hazards model. To obtain explicit formulas, it is assumed that the covariate term including a regression coefficient follows a gamma distribution and the baseline hazard function is constant. The results show that the semiparametric estimator of the regression coefficient parameter is fully efficient relative to the parametric counterpart when the survival time and a covariate are independent, as in the proportional hazards model. Relative to a more realistic case of the parametric additive hazards model with a Weibull baseline, the loss of efficiency of the semiparametric estimator of survival probability is moderate.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduced a Liu-type estimator for the vector of parameters β in a semiparametric regression model. We also obtained the semiparametric restricted Liu-type estimator for the parametric component in a semiparametric regression model. The ideas in the paper are illustrated in a real data example and in a Monte Carlo simulation study.  相似文献

A semiparametric estimator based on an unknown density isuniformly adaptive if the expected loss of the estimator converges to the asymptotic expected loss of the maximum liklihood estimator based on teh true density (MLE), and if convergence does not depend on either the parameter values or the form of the unknown density. Without uniform adaptivity, the asymptotic expected loss of the MLE need not approximate the expected loss of a semiparametric estimator for any finite sample I show that a two step semiparametric estimator is uniformly adaptive for the parameters of nonlinear regression models with autoregressive moving average errors.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce a ridge estimator for the vector of parameters β in a semiparametric model when additional linear restrictions on the parameter vector are assumed to hold. We also obtain the semiparametric restricted ridge estimator for the parametric component in the semiparametric regression model. The ideas in this article are illustrated with a data set consisting of housing prices and through a comparison of the performances of the proposed and related estimators via a Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

This paper presents the Bayesian analysis of a semiparametric regression model that consists of parametric and nonparametric components. The nonparametric component is represented with a Fourier series where the Fourier coefficients are assumed a priori to have zero means and to decay to 0 in probability at either algebraic or geometric rates. The rate of decay controls the smoothness of the response function. The posterior analysis automatically selects the amount of smoothing that is coherent with the model and data. Posterior probabilities of the parametric and semiparametric models provide a method for testing the parametric model against a non-specific alternative. The Bayes estimator's mean integrated squared error compares favourably with the theoretically optimal estimator for kernel regression.  相似文献

We obtain semiparametric efficiency bounds for estimation of a location parameter in a time series model where the innovations are stationary and ergodic conditionally symmetric martingale differences but otherwise possess general dependence and distributions of unknown form. We then describe an iterative estimator that achieves this bound when the conditional density functions of the sample are known. Finally, we develop a “semi-adaptive” estimator that achieves the bound when these densities are unknown by the investigator. This estimator employs nonparametric kernel estimates of the densities. Monte Carlo results are reported.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalized difference-based estimator is introduced for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model when the errors are correlated. A generalized difference-based Liu estimator is defined for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model. Under the linear nonstochastic constraint Rβ=r, the generalized restricted difference-based Liu estimator is given. The risk function for the β?GRD(η) associated with weighted balanced loss function is presented. The performance of the proposed estimators is evaluated by a simulated data set.  相似文献

Abstract. The partially linear in‐slide model (PLIM) is a useful tool to make econometric analyses and to normalize microarray data. In this article, by using series approximations and a least squares procedure, we propose a semiparametric least squares estimator (SLSE) for the parametric component and a series estimator for the non‐parametric component. Under weaker conditions than those imposed in the literature, we show that the SLSE is asymptotically normal and that the series estimator attains the optimal convergence rate of non‐parametric regression. We also investigate the estimating problem of the error variance. In addition, we propose a wild block bootstrap‐based test for the form of the non‐parametric component. Some simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed procedure. An example of application on a set of economical data is also illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss semiparametric additive isotonic regression models. We discuss the efficiency bound of the model and the least squares estimator under this model. We show that the ordinary least square estimator studied by Huang (2002) and Cheng (2009) for the semiparametric isotonic regression achieves the efficiency bound for the regular estimator when the true parameter belongs to the interior of the parameter space. We also show that the result by Cheng (2009) can be generalized to the case that the covariates are dependent on each other.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an empirical likelihood-based weighted estimator of regression parameter in quantile regression model with non ignorable missing covariates. The proposed estimator is computationally simple and achieves semiparametric efficiency if the probability of missingness on the fully observed variables is correctly specified. The efficiency gain of the proposed estimator over the complete-case-analysis estimator is quantified theoretically and illustrated via simulation and a real data application.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article considers estimation of the error variance in a semiparametric regression model. The estimator, based on the semiparametric residuals, is shown to be consistent (with certain rate) for the error variance.

The authors extend the block external bootstrap to partially linear regression models with strongly mixing, nonstationary error terms. In addition to providing an approximate distribution for the semiparametric least square estimator of the parametric component, they propose a consistent estimator of the co‐variance matrix of this estimator.  相似文献

In the context of ridge regression, the estimation of shrinkage parameter plays an important role in analyzing data. Many efforts have been put to develop the computation of risk function in different full-parametric ridge regression approaches using eigenvalues and then bringing an efficient estimator of shrinkage parameter based on them. In this respect, the estimation of shrinkage parameter is neglected for semiparametric regression model. Not restricted, but the main focus of this approach is to develop necessary tools for computing the risk function of regression coefficient based on the eigenvalues of design matrix in semiparametric regression. For this purpose the differencing methodology is applied. We also propose a new estimator for shrinkage parameter which is of harmonic type mean of ridge estimators. It is shown that this estimator performs better than all the existing ones for the regression coefficient. For our proposal, a Monte Carlo simulation study and a real dataset analysis related to housing attributes are conducted to illustrate the efficiency of shrinkage estimators based on the minimum risk and mean squared error criteria.  相似文献

In his discussion of Cox’s (1972) paper on proportional hazards regression, Breslow (1972) provided the maximum likelihood estimator for the cumulative baseline hazard function. This estimator is commonly used in practice. The estimator has also been highly valuable in the further development of Cox regression and semiparametric inference with censored data. The present paper describes the Breslow estimator and its tremendous impact on the theory and practice of survival analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce an alternative semiparametric estimator of the fractional differencing parameter in ARFIMA models which is robust against additive outliers. The proposed estimator is a variant of the GPH estimator [Geweke, J., Porter-Hudak, S., 1983. The estimation and application of long memory time series model. Journal of Time Series Analysis 4, 221–238]. In particular, we use the robust sample autocorrelations of Ma, Y. and Genton, M. [2000. Highly robust estimation of the autocovariance function. Journal of Time Series Analysis 21, 663–684] to obtain an estimator for the spectral density of the process. Numerical results show that the estimator we propose for the differencing parameter is robust when the data contain additive outliers.  相似文献

In this article, a semiparametric time‐varying nonlinear vector autoregressive (NVAR) model is proposed to model nonlinear vector time series data. We consider a combination of parametric and nonparametric estimation approaches to estimate the NVAR function for both independent and dependent errors. We use the multivariate Taylor series expansion of the link function up to the second order which has a parametric framework as a representation of the nonlinear vector regression function. After the unknown parameters are estimated by the maximum likelihood estimation procedure, the obtained NVAR function is adjusted by a nonparametric diagonal matrix, where the proposed adjusted matrix is estimated by the nonparametric kernel estimator. The asymptotic consistency properties of the proposed estimators are established. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed semiparametric method. A real data example on short‐run interest rates and long‐run interest rates of United States Treasury securities is analyzed to demonstrate the application of the proposed approach. Summary. Searching for an effective dimension reduction space is an important problem in regression, especially for high dimensional data. We propose an adaptive approach based on semiparametric models, which we call the (conditional) minimum average variance estimation (MAVE) method, within quite a general setting. The MAVE method has the following advantages. Most existing methods must undersmooth the nonparametric link function estimator to achieve a faster rate of consistency for the estimator of the parameters (than for that of the nonparametric function). In contrast, a faster consistency rate can be achieved by the MAVE method even without undersmoothing the nonparametric link function estimator. The MAVE method is applicable to a wide range of models, with fewer restrictions on the distribution of the covariates, to the extent that even time series can be included. Because of the faster rate of consistency for the parameter estimators, it is possible for us to estimate the dimension of the space consistently. The relationship of the MAVE method with other methods is also investigated. In particular, a simple outer product gradient estimator is proposed as an initial estimator. In addition to theoretical results, we demonstrate the efficacy of the MAVE method for high dimensional data sets through simulation. Two real data sets are analysed by using the MAVE approach.  相似文献
