In this article, we consider whether the empirical likelihood ratio (ELR) test is applicable to testing for serial correlation in the partially linear single-index models (PLSIM) with error-prone linear covariates. It is shown that under the null hypothesis the proposed ELR statistic follows asymptotically a χ2-distribution with the scale constant and the degrees of freedom. A comparison between the ELR and the normal approximation method is also considered. Both simulated and real data examples are used to illustrate our proposed methodology.  相似文献

In this article, we propose two test statistics for testing the underlying serial correlation in a partially linear single-index model Y = η(Z τα) + X τβ + ? when X is measured with additive error. The proposed test statistics are shown to have asymptotic normal or chi-squared distributions under the null hypothesis of no serial correlation. Monte Carlo experiments are also conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed test statistics. The simulation results confirm that these statistics perform satisfactorily in both estimated sizes and powers.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Partially varying coefficient single-index models (PVCSIM) are a class of semiparametric regression models. One important assumption is that the model error is independently and identically distributed, which may contradict with the reality in many applications. For example, in the economical and financial applications, the observations may be serially correlated over time. Based on the empirical likelihood technique, we propose a procedure for testing the serial correlation of random error in PVCSIM. Under some regular conditions, we show that the proposed empirical likelihood ratio statistic asymptotically follows a standard χ2 distribution. We also present some numerical studies to illustrate the performance of our proposed testing procedure.  相似文献

This paper investigates statistical inference for the single-index model when the number of predictors grows with sample size. Empirical likelihood method for constructing confidence region for the index vector, which does not require a multivariate non parametric smoothing, is employed. However, the classical empirical likelihood ratio for this model does not remain valid because plug-in estimation of an infinite-dimensional nuisance parameter causes a non negligible bias and the diverging number of parameters/predictors makes the limit not chi-squared any more. To solve these problems, we define an empirical likelihood ratio based on newly proposed weighted estimating equations and show that it is asymptotically normal. Also we find that different weights used in the weighted residuals require, for asymptotic normality, different diverging rate of the number of predictors. However, the rate n1/3, which is a possible fastest rate when there are no any other conditions assumed in the setting under study, is still attainable. A simulation study is carried out to assess the performance of our method.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the composite quantile regression (CQR) method to a single-index model. The unknown link function is estimated by local composite quantile regression and the parametric index is estimated through the linear composite quantile. It is shown that the proposed estimators are consistent and asymptotically normal. The simulation studies and real data applications are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed methods.  相似文献

Testing for the difference in the strength of bivariate association in two independent contingency tables is an important issue that finds applications in various disciplines. Currently, many of the commonly used tests are based on single-index measures of association. More specifically, one obtains single-index measurements of association from two tables and compares them based on asymptotic theory. Although they are usually easy to understand and use, often much of the information contained in the data is lost with single-index measures. Accordingly, they fail to fully capture the association in the data. To remedy this shortcoming, we introduce a new summary statistic measuring various types of association in a contingency table. Based on this new summary statistic, we propose a likelihood ratio test comparing the strength of association in two independent contingency tables. The proposed test examines the stochastic order between summary statistics. We derive its asymptotic null distribution and demonstrate that the least favorable distributions are chi-bar distributions. We numerically compare the power of the proposed test to that of the tests based on single-index measures. Finally, we provide two examples illustrating the new summary statistics and the related tests.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We consider semiparametric inference on the partially linearsingle-index model (PLSIM). The generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) test is proposed to examine whether or not a family of new semiparametric models fits adequately our given data in the PLSIM. A new GLR statistic is established to deal with the testing of the index parameter α0 in the PLSIM. The newly proposed statistic is shown to asymptotically follow a χ2-distribution with the scale constant and the degrees of freedom being independent of the nuisance parameters or function. Some finite sample simulations and a real example are used to illustrate our proposed methodology.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we consider the inverse probability weighted estimators for a single-index model with missing covariates when the selection probabilities are known or unknown. It is shown that the estimator for the index parameter by using estimated selection probabilities has a smaller asymptotic variance than that with true selection probabilities, thus is more efficient. Therefore, the important Horvitz-Thompson property is verified for the index parameter in single index model. However, this difference disappears for the estimators of the link function. Some numerical examples and a real data application are also conducted to illustrate the performances of the estimators.  相似文献

This article considers partially linear single-index models with errors in all variables. By using the Pseudo ? θ method (Liang, Härdle, and Carroll 1999), local linear regression and simulation-extrapolation (SIMEX) technique (Cook and Stefanski 1994), we propose an efficient methodology to estimate the current model. Under certain conditions the asymptotic properties of proposed estimators are obtained. Some simulation experiments and an application are conducted to illustrate our proposed method.  相似文献

We consider statistical inference for partially linear single-index models (PLSIM) when some linear covariates are not observed, but ancillary variables are available. Based on the profile least-squared estimators of the unknowns, we study the testing problems for parametric components in the proposed models. It is to see whether the generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) tests proposed by Fan et al. (2001) are applicable to testing for the parametric components. We show that under the null hypothesis the proposed GLR statistics follow asymptotically the χ2-distributions with the scale constants and the degrees of freedom being independent of the nuisance parameters or functions, which is called the Wilks phenomenon. Simulated experiments are conducted to illustrate our proposed methodology.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new full iteration estimation method for quantile regression (QR) of the single-index model (SIM). The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator are derived. Furthermore, we propose a variable selection procedure for the QR of SIM by combining the estimation method with the adaptive LASSO penalized method to get sparse estimation of the index parameter. The oracle properties of the variable selection method are established. Simulations with various non-normal errors are conducted to demonstrate the finite sample performance of the estimation method and the variable selection procedure. Furthermore, we illustrate the proposed method by analyzing a real data set.  相似文献

In this article, a new composite quantile regression estimation approach is proposed for estimating the parametric part of single-index model. We use local linear composite quantile regression (CQR) for estimating the nonparametric part of single-index model (SIM) when the error distribution is symmetrical. The weighted local linear CQR is proposed for estimating the nonparametric part of SIM when the error distribution is asymmetrical. Moreover, a new variable selection procedure is proposed for SIM. Under some regularity conditions, we establish the large sample properties of the proposed estimators. Simulation studies and a real data analysis are presented to illustrate the behavior of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

In partially linear single-index models, we obtain the semiparametrically efficient profile least-squares estimators of regression coefficients. We also employ the smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalty (SCAD) approach to simultaneously select variables and estimate regression coefficients. We show that the resulting SCAD estimators are consistent and possess the oracle property. Subsequently, we demonstrate that a proposed tuning parameter selector, BIC, identifies the true model consistently. Finally, we develop a linear hypothesis test for the parametric coefficients and a goodness-of-fit test for the nonparametric component, respectively. Monte Carlo studies are also presented.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The varying-coefficient single-index model (VCSIM) is a very general and flexible tool for exploring the relationship between a response variable and a set of predictors. Popular special cases include single-index models and varying-coefficient models. In order to estimate the index-coefficient and the non parametric varying-coefficients in the VCSIM, we propose a two-stage composite quantile regression estimation procedure, which integrates the local linear smoothing method and the information of quantile regressions at a number of conditional quantiles of the response variable. We establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators for the index-coefficient and varying-coefficients when the error is heterogeneous. When compared with the existing mean-regression-based estimation method, our simulation results indicate that our proposed method has comparable performance for normal error and is more robust for error with outliers or heavy tail. We illustrate our methodologies with a real example.  相似文献

We consider the problem of testing the equality of several multivariate normal mean vectors under heteroscedasticity. We first construct a fiducial confidence region (FCR) for the differences between normal mean vectors and we then propose a fiducial test for comparing mean vectors by inverting the FCR. We also propose a simple approximate test that is based on a modification of the χ2 approximation. This simple test avoids the complications of simulation-based inference methods. We show that the proposed fiducial test has correct type one error rate asymptotically. We compare the proposed fiducial and approximate tests with the parametric bootstrap test in terms of controlling the type one error rate via an extensive simulation study. Our simulation results show that the proposed fiducial and approximate tests control the type one error rate, while there are cases that the parametric bootstrap test is out of control. We also discuss the power performance of the tests. Finally, we illustrate with a real example how our proposed methods are applicable in analyzing repeated measure designs including a single grouping variable.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of variable selection for partially varying coefficient single-index model, and present a regularized variable selection procedure by combining basis function approximations with smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalty. The proposed procedure simultaneously selects significant variables in the single-index parametric components and the nonparametric coefficient function components. With appropriate selection of the tuning parameters, the consistency of the variable selection procedure and the oracle property of the estimators are established. Finite sample performance of the proposed method is illustrated by a simulation study and real data analysis.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with an estimation procedure of a class of single-index varying-coefficient models with right-censored data. An adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio for the index parameters, which are of primary interest, is proposed using a synthetic data approach. The adjusted empirical likelihood is shown to have a standard chi-squared limiting distribution. Furthermore, we increase the accuracy of the proposed confidence regions by using the constraint that the index is of norm 1. Simulation studies are carried out to highlight the performance of the proposed method compared with the traditional normal approximation method.  相似文献

Quantile regression introduced by Koenker and Bassett (1978) produces a comprehensive picture of a response variable on predictors. In this paper, we propose a general semi-parametric model of which part of predictors are presented with a single-index, to model the relationship of conditional quantiles of the response on predictors. Special cases are single-index models, partially linear single-index models and varying coefficient single-index models. We propose the qOPG, a quantile regression version of outer-product gradient estimation method (OPG, Xia et al., 2002) to estimate the single-index. Large-sample properties, simulation results and a real-data analysis are provided to examine the performance of the qOPG.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We consider the estimation of the conditional cumulative distribution function of a scalar response variable Y given a Hilbertian random variable X when the observations are linked via a single-index structure. We establish the pointwise and the uniform almost complete convergence (with the rate) of the kernel estimate of this model. As an application, we show how our result can be applied in the prediction problem via the conditional median estimate. Also, the choice of the functional index via the cross-validation procedure is also discussed but not attacked.  相似文献
