Pigeon & Raghavarao (1987) introduced control balanced residual treatment effects designs for the situation where one treatment is a control or standard and is to be compared with the v test treatments, and they have also given methods of construction of control balanced residual treatment effects designs and have investigated their efficiencies. Consider an incomplete block experiment in which observations are taken from t treatments using an incomplete block design with b blocks of size k < t. Suppose the interest is in estimating the differences of effects of successive treatments. This may occur, for example, if the treatments are different dosages or concentrations of a compound. This article presents A-optimal and MV-optimal incomplete block designs for estimating the the differences of successive treatment effects. Neighbor designs are useful to remove the neighbor effects. In this article, an algorithm is developed and is coded in Visual C + +to generate the initial block for possible first, second,…, and all order neighbor designs. Polygonal designs are useful in survey sampling in terms of balanced sampling plans excluding contiguous units (BSECs) and balanced sampling plans excluding adjacent units (BSAs). In this article, the method of cyclic shifts has been used for the construction of cyclic polygonal designs (in terms of BSAs) with block size k = 3 and λ = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 for joint distance α = 2 and 51 new designs for treatments v ≤ 100 are given.  相似文献

This paper presents an algorithm for the construction of optimal or near optimal change-over designs for arbitrary numbers of treatments, periods and units. Previous research on optimality has been either theoretical or has resulted in limited tabulations of small optimal designs. The algorithm consists of a number of steps:first find an optimal direct treatment effects design, ignoring residual effects, and then optimise this class of designs with respect to residual effects. Poor designs are avoided by judicious application of the (M, S)-optimality criterion, and modifications of it, to appropriate matrices. The performance of the algorithm is illustrated by examples.  相似文献

The problem considered is that of finding D-optimal design for the estimation of covariate parameters and the treatment and block contrasts in a block design set up in the presence of non stochastic controllable covariates, when N = 2(mod 4), N being the total number of observations. It is clear that when N ≠ 0 (mod 4), it is not possible to find designs attaining minimum variance for the estimated covariate parameters. Conditions for D-optimum designs for the estimation of covariate parameters were established when each of the covariates belongs to the interval [?1, 1]. Some constructions of D-optimal design have been provided for symmetric balanced incomplete block design (SBIBD) with parameters b = v, r = k = v ? 1, λ =v ? 2 when k = 2 (mod 4) and b is an odd integer.  相似文献

Orthogonal arrays are used as screening designs to identify active main effects, after which the properties of the subdesign for estimating these effects and possibly their interactions become important. Such a subdesign is known as a “projection design”. In this article, we have identified all the geometric non isomorphic projection designs of an OA(27,13,3,2), an OA(18,7,3,2) and an OA(36,13,3,2) into k = 3,4, and 5 factors when they are used for screening out active quantitative experimental factors, with regard to the prior selection of the middle level of factors. We use the popular D-efficiency criterion to evaluate the ability of each design found in estimating the parameters of a second order model.  相似文献

Recently, the concept of reversed mean residual life order based on the mean of the random variable X t  = (t ? X | X ≤ t), t > 0, called the reversed residual life, defined for the nonnegative random variable X, has been introduced in the literature. In this paper, a stochastic order based on the shifted version of the reversed mean residual life is proposed, based on the reversed mean residual life function for a random variable X with support (l X , ∞), where l X may be negative infinity, and its properties are studied. Closure under the Poisson shock model and properties for spare allocation are also discussed.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the problem of constructing A-optimal design for polynomial regression with analytic weight function on the interval [m ? a, m + a], m, a > 0. It is shown that the structure of the optimal design depends on a and weight function only, as a close to 0. Moreover, if the weight function is an analytic function a, then a scaled version of optimal support points, and weights are analytic functions of a at a = 0. We make use of a Taylor expansion to provide a recursive procedure for calculating the A-optimal designs. Examples are presented to illustrate the procedures for computing the optimal designs.  相似文献

This article proposes an algorithm to construct efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs with m factors and n runs. The algorithm generates efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs very fast. Using the proposed algorithm many balanced multi-level supersaturated designs are constructed and cataloged. A list of many optimal and near optimal, multi-level supersaturated designs is also provided for m ≤ 60 and number of levels (q) ≤10. The algorithm can be used to generate two-level k-circulant supersaturated designs also and some large optimal two-level supersaturated designs are presented. An upper bound to the number of factors in a balanced multi-level supersaturated design such that no two columns are fully aliased is also provided.  相似文献

A conference matrix is a square matrix C with zeros on the diagonal and ±1s off the diagonal, such that C T C = CC T  = (n ? 1)I, where I is the identity matrix. Conference matrices are an important class of combinatorial designs due to their many applications in several fields of science, including statistical-experimental designs, telecommunications, elliptic geometry, and more. In this article, conference matrices and their full foldover design are combined together to obtain an alternative method for screening active factors in complicated problems. This method provides a model-independent estimate of the set of active factors and also gives a linearity test for the underlying model.  相似文献

In practical situations involving mixtures formed from several ingredients, interest is sometimes centered on the response in an ellipsoidal neighborhood around a standard formulation. We show that standard, orthogonally blocked, response surface designs, defined on a q ? 1 dimensional unit sphere, may be transformed into similarly orthogonally blocked q-ingredient mixture designs defined within an ellipsoid centered at the standard formulation. The method is illustrated using several examples of mixture experiments with three, four, and five ingredients, arranged in two, three, or four orthogonal blocks, obtained by projecting standard central composite designs and Box–Behnken designs into the ellipsoidal mixture region. Rotations of the resulting designs within the ellipsoidal regions are also considered.  相似文献

Repeated measurement designs are widely used in medicine, pharmacology, animal sciences and psychology. These designs balance out the residual effects. The situations where balanced repeated measurements designs require a large number of the subjects, partially-balanced repeated measurements designs should be used. In this paper some infinite series are developed which provide circular partially-balanced repeated measurement designs for p (periods) even. Recursive formulae for constructing block designs with dependent errors . Biometrika 79 : 426430 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) have been modified and used for searching efficient block designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons when observations are dependent. The lower bounds to the A- and D-efficiencies of the designs in a given class of the designs have been obtained for correlated observation structure and the procedure of computing lower bounds to A- and D-efficiencies has been incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm has been translated into a computer program using Microsoft Visual C++. Using this program, a search for efficient designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons has been made for v ≤ 10, b ≤ 33, k ≤ 10 such that bk ≤ 100 and v > k. The block designs considered are usual block designs (rectangular block designs) and circular block designs. Nearest neighbor (NN), autoregressive of order 1 (AR(1)) correlation structures are studied. The ranges of correlation coefficients for different correlation structures investigated are |ρ|≤0.50 for NN correlation structure in rectangular blocks, |ρ|≤0.45 for NN correlation structure in circular blocks, and |ρ|≤0.95 for AR(1) correlation structure. For these ranges, the matrix of correlation coefficients among observations within a block is positive definite. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for a given value of correlation have been investigated against other values of correlation coefficients. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for independent observations have also been studied for experimental situations with dependent observations.  相似文献

In this article, some results are derived on stochastic comparisons of the residual and past lifetimes of an (n ? k + 1)-out-of-n system with dependent components. These findings generalize some recent results obtained on systems with independent components and provide some interesting results for a system with dependent components following an Archimedean copula. Crossover designs, or repeated measurements designs, are used for experiments in which t treatments are applied to each of n experimental units successively over p time periods. Such experiments are widely used in areas such as clinical trials, experimental psychology and agricultural field trials. In addition to the direct effect on the response of the treatment in the period of application, there is also the possible presence of a residual, or carry-over, effect of a treatment from one or more previous periods. We use a model in which the residual effect from a treatment depends upon the treatment applied in the succeeding period; that is, a model which includes interactions between the treatment direct and residual effects. We assume that residual effects do not persist further than one succeeding period.A particular class of strongly balanced repeated measurements designs with n=t2 units and which are uniform on the periods is examined. A lower bound for the A-efficiency of the designs for estimating the direct effects is derived and it is shown that such designs are highly efficient for any number of periods p=2,…,2t.  相似文献

Suppose we have {(x i , y i )} i = 1, 2,…, n, a sequence of independent observations. We wish to find approximate 1 ? α simultaneous confidence bands for the regression curve. Many previous confidence bands in the literature have practical difficulties. In this article, the local linear smoother is used to estimate the regression curve. The bias of the estimator is considered. Different methods of constructing confidence bands are discussed. Finally, a possible method incorporating logistic regression in an innovative way is proposed to construct the bands for random designs. Simulations are used to study the performance or properties of the methods. The procedure for constructing confidence bands is entirely data-driven. The advantage of the proposed method is that it is simple to use and can be applied to random designs. It can be considered as a practically useful and efficient method.  相似文献
