In Survival Analysis and related fields of research right-censored and left-truncated data often appear. Usually, it is assumed that the right-censoring variable is independent of the lifetime of ultimate interest. However, in particular applications dependent censoring may be present; this is the case, for example, when there exist several competing risks acting on the same individual. In this paper we propose a copula-graphic estimator for such a situation. The estimator is based on a known Archimedean copula function which properly represents the dependence structure between the lifetime and the censoring time. Therefore, the current work extends the copula-graphic estimator in de Uña-Álvarez and Veraverbeke [Generalized copula-graphic estimator. Test. 2013;22:343–360] in the presence of left-truncation. An asymptotic representation of the estimator is derived. The performance of the estimator is investigated in an intensive Monte Carlo simulation study. An application to unemployment duration is included for illustration purposes.  相似文献

Quantile regression methods have been used to estimate upper and lower quantile reference curves as the function of several covariates. In this article, it is demonstrated that the estimating equation of Zhou [A weighted quantile regression for randomly truncated data, Comput. Stat. Data Anal. 55 (2011), pp. 554–566.] can be extended to analyse left-truncated and right-censored data. We evaluate the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators through simulation studies. The proposed estimator β?(q) is applied to the Veteran's Administration lung cancer data reported by Prentice [Exponential survival with censoring and explanatory variables, Biometrika 60 (1973), pp. 279–288].  相似文献

Consider the problem of testing the composite null hypothesis that a random sample X1,…,Xn is from a parent which is a member of a particular continuous parametric family of distributions against an alternative that it is from a separate family of distributions. It is shown here that in many cases a uniformly most powerful similar (UMPS) test exists for this problem, and, moreover, that this test is equivalent to a uniformly most powerful invariant (UMPI) test. It is also seen in the method of proof used that the UMPS test statistic Is a function of the statistics U1,…,Un?k obtained by the conditional probability integral transformations (CPIT), and thus that no Information Is lost by these transformations, It is also shown that these optimal tests have power that is a nonotone function of the null hypothesis class of distributions, so that, for example, if one additional parameter for the distribution is assumed known, then the power of the test can not lecrease. It Is shown that the statistics U1, …, Un?k are independent of the complete sufficient statistic, and that these statistics have important invariance properties. Two examples at given. The UMPS tests for testing the two-parameter uniform family against the two-parameter exponential family, and for testing one truncation parameter distribution against another one are derived.  相似文献

Inferences for survival curves based on right censored continuous or grouped data are studied. Testing homogeneity with an ordered restricted alternative and testing the order restriction as the null hypothesis are considered. Under a proportional hazards model, the ordering on the survival curves corresponds to an ordering on the regression coefficients. Approximate likelihood methods are obtained by applying order restricted procedures to the estimates of the regression coefficients. Ordered analogues to the log rank test which are based on the score statistics are considered also. Chi-bar-squared distributions, which have been studied extensively, are shown to provide reasonable approximations to the null distributions of these tests statistics. Using Monte Carlo techniques, the powers of these two types of tests are compared with those that are available in the literature.  相似文献

We consider different censoring models for a two-sample and find the joint distribution of the rank vector and number of uncensored observations under each censoring model when the distributions of life times and/or distributions of censoring of censoring variables satisfy the condition for the Lehmann type of alternatives.  相似文献

For a multivariate linear model, Wilk's likelihood ratio test (LRT) constitutes one of the cornerstone tools. However, the computation of its quantiles under the null or the alternative hypothesis requires complex analytic approximations, and more importantly, these distributional approximations are feasible only for moderate dimension of the dependent variable, say p≤20. On the other hand, assuming that the data dimension p as well as the number q of regression variables are fixed while the sample size n grows, several asymptotic approximations are proposed in the literature for Wilk's Λ including the widely used chi-square approximation. In this paper, we consider necessary modifications to Wilk's test in a high-dimensional context, specifically assuming a high data dimension p and a large sample size n. Based on recent random matrix theory, the correction we propose to Wilk's test is asymptotically Gaussian under the null hypothesis and simulations demonstrate that the corrected LRT has very satisfactory size and power, surely in the large p and large n context, but also for moderately large data dimensions such as p=30 or p=50. As a byproduct, we give a reason explaining why the standard chi-square approximation fails for high-dimensional data. We also introduce a new procedure for the classical multiple sample significance test in multivariate analysis of variance which is valid for high-dimensional data.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new test for the dilation order based on cumulative residual Tsallis entropy of order α. The effect of the values of parameter α on the power of the test statistics is numerically investigated. The asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is given. The performance of the test statistic is evaluated using a simulation study. Finally, some numerical examples illustrating the theory are also given.  相似文献

Linear rank procedures are developed for testing independence with right-censored matched pairs. It is assumed that censoring Is Independent of the random variables under study. The test statistics are derived as score statistics (Hajek and Sidak, 1967) based on the probability of the generalised rank vectors (Prentice, 1978). Applications to survival data analysis are also discussed.  相似文献

This paper considers two-sample nonparametric comparison of survival function when data are subject to left truncation and interval censoring. We propose a class of rank-based tests, which are generalization of weighted log-rank tests for right-censored data. Simulation studies indicate that the proposed tests are appropriate for practical use.  相似文献

In this article, we demonstrate that the approach of Gandy and Jensen (2005 Gandy, A., Jensen, U. (2005). On goodness-of-fit tests for Aalen's additive risk model. Scan. J. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed tests. The proposed tests are illustrated using heart transplant data.  相似文献

It is often desirable to test non-nested hypotheses. Cox (1961, 1962) proposed forming a log-likelihood ratio from their maxima and then comparing this value to its expected value under the null hypothesis. Pitfalls exists when we apply Cox's test to the special case of testing normality versus lognormality. Pesaran (1981) and Kotz (1973) pointed out the slow convergence rate of the Cox's test. In this paper, this fact has been reemphasized; moreover, we propose an alternative likelihood ratio test which remedies problems arising from negative estimates of the asymptotic variance of Cox's test statistic and is uniformly more powerful than most commonly used tests.  相似文献

Mean survival time is often of inherent interest in medical and epidemiologic studies. In the presence of censoring and when covariate effects are of interest, Cox regression is the strong default, but mostly due to convenience and familiarity. When survival times are uncensored, covariate effects can be estimated as differences in mean survival through linear regression. Tobit regression can validly be performed through maximum likelihood when the censoring times are fixed (ie, known for each subject, even in cases where the outcome is observed). However, Tobit regression is generally inapplicable when the response is subject to random right censoring. We propose Tobit regression methods based on weighted maximum likelihood which are applicable to survival times subject to both fixed and random censoring times. Under the proposed approach, known right censoring is handled naturally through the Tobit model, with inverse probability of censoring weighting used to overcome random censoring. Essentially, the re‐weighting data are intended to represent those that would have been observed in the absence of random censoring. We develop methods for estimating the Tobit regression parameter, then the population mean survival time. A closed form large‐sample variance estimator is proposed for the regression parameter estimator, with a semiparametric bootstrap standard error estimator derived for the population mean. The proposed methods are easily implementable using standard software. Finite‐sample properties are assessed through simulation. The methods are applied to a large cohort of patients wait‐listed for kidney transplantation.  相似文献

For type I censoring, in addition to the failure times, the number failures is also observed as part of the data. Using this feature of type I singly right-censored data a simple estimator is obtained for the scale parameter of the two parameter Weibull distribution. The exact mean and variance of the estimator are derived and computed for finite sample sizes. Its limiting properties such as asymptotic normality and asymptotic relative efficiency are obtained. The estimator has high efficiency for moderate and heavy censoring. Its use is illustrated by means of an example.  相似文献

In many treatment-versus-control experiments, the observed random variables can be written as the product of a Bernoulli and a continuous random variable. The treatment can affect the distribution of the observations in two ways.

1. the probability that the observation is 0 could be altered.

2. the distribution of the nonzero observations could be changed.

We may also want to measure the combined effect of the treatment.

3. the expected value of control and treated units may differ.

A method is presented for testing for the presence of the combined effect when the general form of the distribution function of the continuous observations is known. For the case when this distribution function is from the family of gamma distributions, a previously proposed test criterion for the combined effect has poor power properties. In this paper, we discuss a test criterion that has improved power properties.  相似文献

Testing of hypotheses under balanced ANOVA models is fairly simple and generally based on the usual ANOVA sums of squares. Difficulties may arise in special cases when these sums of squares do not form a complete sufficient statistic. There is a huge literature on this subject which was recently surveyed in Seifert's contribution to the book of Mumak (1904). But there are only a few results about unbalanced models. In such models the consideration of likelihood ratios leads to more complex sums of squares known from MINQUE theory.

Uniform optimality of testsusually reduces to local optimality. Here we prespnt a small review of methods proposed for testing of hypotheses in unbalanced models. where MINQUEI playb a major role. We discuss the use of iterated MINQUE for the construction of asymptotically optimal tests described in Humak (1984) and approximate tests based on locally uncorrelated linear combinations of MINQUE estimators by Seifert (1985), We show that the latter tests coincide with robust locally optimal invariant tests proposeci by Kariya and Sinha and Das and Sinha, if the number of variance components is two. Explicit expressions for corresponding tests are given for the unbalanced two-way cross classification random model, which covers some other models as special cases. A simulation study under lines the relevance of MINQUE for testing of hypotheses problems.  相似文献

This resean h extends the mixture of exponential family developed by Dean (1992) to accommodate oveidispeision in data with censoring. Score statistics testing the (Existence of overdispersion based on the proposed model are obtained Simulations show that the test statistics have suffcient power in detecting the existence of overdispersion when sample size are sufficiently large and the degree of censoring is mild (i. e, 40%) The test statistics are applied to real data sets and are able to detect overdispersion in those data sets.  相似文献

Determination of an adequate sample size is critical to the design of research ventures. For clustered right-censored data, Manatunga and Chen [Sample size estimation for survival outcomes in cluster-randomized studies with small cluster sizes. Biometrics. 2000;56(2):616–621] proposed a sample size calculation based on considering the bivariate marginal distribution as Clayton copula model. In addition to the Clayton copula, other important family of copulas, such as Gumbel and Frank copulas are also well established in multivariate survival analysis. However, sample size calculation based on these assumptions has not been fully investigated yet. To broaden the scope of Manatunga and Chen [Sample size estimation for survival outcomes in cluster-randomized studies with small cluster sizes. Biometrics. 2000;56(2):616–621]'s research and achieve a more flexible sample size calculation for clustered right-censored data, we extended the work by assuming the marginal distribution as bivariate Gumbel and Frank copulas. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method and investigate the impacts of the accrual times, follow-up times and the within-clustered correlation effect of the study. The proposed method is applied to two real-world studies, and the R code is made available to users.  相似文献

A common procedure for testing a regression model against separate alternatives is to check the statistical significance of predictions from the latter appended as artificial regressors in the model under test. This paper derives the previously-unknown exact small-sample power function of such a procedure. It is then demonstrated that the procedure is biased in small samples.  相似文献

Techniques for testing hypotheses about parameters in the regression models under the situation of grouped data are provided. A test statistic similar to conventional F statistic is considered. A simulation study performed for a few cases shows that the proposed statistic has an approximate F distribution and is useful in applications.  相似文献
