In this approach, some generalized ridge estimators are defined based on shrinkage foundation. Completely under the suspicion that some sub-space restrictions may occur, we present the estimators of the regression coefficients combining the idea of preliminary test estimator and Stein-rule estimator with the ridge regression methodology for normal models. Their exact risk expressions in addition to biases are derived and the regions of optimality of the estimators are exactly determined along with some numerical analysis. In this regard, the ridge parameter is determined in different disciplines.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of estimation of the regression coefficients in a multiple regression model is considered under the multicollinearity situation when there are series of stochastic linear restrictions available on the regression parameter vector. We have considered the preliminary test ridge regression estimators (PTRREs) based on the Wald, likelihood ratio, and lagrangian multiplier tests. Tables for the maximum and minimum guaranteed efficiency of the PTRREs are obtained, which allow us to determine the optimum choice of the level of significance corresponding to the optimum estimator. Some numerical results support the findings.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce two almost unbiased estimators for the vector of unknown parameters in a linear regression model when additional linear restrictions on the parameter vector are assumed to hold. Superiority of the two estimators under the mean squared error matrix (MSEM) is discussed. Furthermore, a numerical example and simulation study are given to illustrate some of the theoretical results.  相似文献

In 2005 Lipovetsky and Conklin proposed an estimator, the two parameter ridge estimator (TRE), as an alternative to the ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE) and the ordinary ridge estimator (RE) in the presence of multicollinearity, and in 2006 Lipovetsky improved the two parameter model. In this paper, we introduce two new estimators, one of which is the modified two parameter ridge estimator (MTRE) defined by following Swindel's paper of 1976. The other one is the restricted two parameter ridge estimator (RTRE) which is derived by setting additional linear restrictions on the parameter vectors. This estimator is a generalization of the restricted least squares estimator (RLSE) and includes the restricted ridge estimator (RRE) proposed by Groß in 2003. A numerical example is provided and a simulation study is conducted for the comparisons of the RTRE with the OLSE, RLSE, RE, RRE and TRE.  相似文献

In this article, a generalized restricted difference-based ridge estimator is defined for the vector parameter in a partial linear model when the errors are dependent. It is suspected that some additional linear constraints may hold on to the whole parameter space. The estimator is a generalization of the well-known restricted least-squares estimator and is confined to the (affine) subspace which is generated by the restrictions. The risk functions of the proposed estimators are derived under balanced loss function. Finally, the performance of the new estimators is evaluated by a simulated data set.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce two new classes of estimators called the stochastic restricted almost unbiased ridge-type principal component estimator (SRAURPCE) and the stochastic restricted almost unbiased Liu-type principal component estimator (SRAURPCE) to overcome the well-known multicollinearity problem in linear regression model. For the two cases when the restrictions are true and not true, necessary and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the proposed estimators are derived and compared, respectively. Furthermore, a Monte Carlo simulation study and a numerical example are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

The existence of values of the ridge parameter such that ridge regression is preferable to OLS by the Pitman nearness criterion under both the quadratic and the Fisher's loss is shown. Preference regions of the two estimators under the above loss functions are found. An upper bound for the value of the Pitman's measure of closeness, independent of a deterministic or stochastic choice of the ridge parameter, is given.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the problem of multicollinearity in the linear part of a seemingly unrelated semiparametric (SUS) model. It is also suspected that some additional non stochastic linear constraints hold on the whole parameter space. In the sequel, we propose semiparametric ridge and non ridge type estimators combining the restricted least squares methods in the model under study. For practical aspects, it is assumed that the covariance matrix of error terms is unknown and thus feasible estimators are proposed and their asymptotic distributional properties are derived. Also, necessary and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the ridge-type estimator over the non ridge type estimator for selecting the ridge parameter K are derived. Lastly, a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to estimate the parametric and nonparametric parts. In this regard, kernel smoothing and cross validation methods for estimating the nonparametric function are used.  相似文献

The ranked set samples and median ranked set samples in particular have been used extensively in the literature due to many reasons. In some situations, the experimenter may not be able to quantify or measure the response variable due to the high cost of data collection, however it may be easier to rank the subject of interest. The purpose of this article is to study the asymptotic distribution of the parameter estimators of the simple linear regression model. We show that these estimators using median ranked set sampling scheme converge in distribution to the normal distribution under weak conditions. Moreover, we derive large sample confidence intervals for the regression parameters as well as a large sample prediction interval for new observation. Also, we study the properties of these estimators for small sample setup and conduct a simulation study to investigate the behavior of the distributions of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

Several biased estimators have been proposed as alternatives to the least squares estimator when multicollinearity is present in the multiple linear regression model. The ridge estimator and the principal components estimator are two techniques that have been proposed for such problems. In this paper the class of fractional principal component estimators is developed for the multiple linear regression model. This class contains many of the biased estimators commonly used to combat multicollinearity. In the fractional principal components framework, two new estimation techniques are introduced. The theoretical performances of the new estimators are evaluated and their small sample properties are compared via simulation with the ridge, generalized ridge and principal components estimators  相似文献

This article primarily aims to put forward the linearized restricted ridge regression (LRRR) estimator in linear regression models. Two types of LRRR estimators are investigated under the PRESS criterion and the optimal LRRR estimators and the optimal restricted generalized ridge regression estimator are obtained. We apply the results to the Hald data and finally make a simulation study by using the method of McDonald and Galarneau.  相似文献

In this paper the stochastic properties of two estimators of linear models, mixed and minimax, based on different types of prior information, are compared using quadratic risk as the criterion for superiority. A necessary and sufficient condition for the minimax estimator to be superior to the comparable mixed estimator is derived as well as a simpler necessary but not sufficient condition.  相似文献

In this article, we aim to study the linearized ridge regression (LRR) estimator in a linear regression model motivated by the work of Liu (1993). The LRR estimator and the two types of generalized Liu estimators are investigated under the PRESS criterion. The method of obtaining the optimal generalized ridge regression (GRR) estimator is derived from the optimal LRR estimator. We apply the Hald data as a numerical example and then make a simulation study to show the main results. It is concluded that the idea of transforming the GRR estimator as a complicated function of the biasing parameters to a linearized version should be paid more attention in the future.  相似文献

In this study, the performance of the estimators proposed in the presence of multicollinearity in the linear regression model with heteroscedastic or correlated or both error terms is investigated under the matrix mean square error criterion. Structures of the autocorrelated error terms are given and a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to examine the relative efficiency of the estimators against each other.  相似文献

As known, the ordinary least-squares estimator (OLSE) is unbiased and also, has the minimum variance among all the linear unbiased estimators. However, under multicollinearity the estimator is generally unstable and poor in the sense that variance of the regression coefficients may be inflated and absolute values of the estimates may be too large. There are several classes of biased estimators in statistical literature to decrease the effect of multicollinearity in the design matrix. Here, based on the Cholesky decomposition, we propose such an estimator which makes the data to be slightly distorted. The exact risk expressions as well as the biases are derived for the proposed estimator. Also, some results demonstrating superiority of the suggested estimator over OLSE are obtained. Finally, a Monté-Carlo simulation study and a real data application related to acetylene data are presented to support our theoretical discussions.  相似文献

A new modified Jackknifed estimator for the Poisson regression model   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Poisson regression is very popular in applied researches when analyzing the count data. However, multicollinearity problem arises for the Poisson regression model when the independent variables are highly intercorrelated. Shrinkage estimator is a commonly applied solution to the general problem caused by multicollinearity. Recently, the ridge regression (RR) estimators and some methods for estimating the ridge parameter k in the Poisson regression have been proposed. It has been found that some estimators are better than the commonly used maximum-likelihood (ML) estimator and some other RR estimators. In this study, the modified Jackknifed Poisson ridge regression (MJPR) estimator is proposed to remedy the multicollinearity. A simulation study and a real data example are provided to evaluate the performance of estimators. Both mean-squared error and the percentage relative error are considered as the performance criteria. The simulation study and the real data example results show that the proposed MJPR method outperforms the Poisson ridge regression, Jackknifed Poisson ridge regression and the ML in all of the different situations evaluated in this paper.  相似文献

The raised estimators are used to reduce collinearity in linear regression models by raising a column in the experimental data matrix which may be nearly linear with the other columns. The raising procedure has two components, namely stretching and rotating, which we can analyze separately. We give the relationship between the raised estimators and the classical ridge estimators. Using a case study, we show how to determine the perturbation parameter for the raised estimators by controlling the amount of precision to be retained in the original data.  相似文献

The admissibility of linear estimators in a linear model with stochastic regression coefficient is investigated under a balanced loss function. The sufficient and necessary conditions for linear estimators to be admissible in classes of homogeneous and non-homogeneous linear estimators are obtained, respectively.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the multiple regression model in the presence of multicollinearity and study the performance of the preliminary test estimator (PTE) both analytically and computationally, when it is a priori suspected that some constraints may hold on the vector parameter space. The performance of the PTE is further analyzed by comparing the risk of some well-known estimators of the ridge parameter through an extensive Monte Carlo simulation study under some bounded and or asymmetric loss functions. An application of the Cobb–Douglas production function is included and from these results as well as the simulation studies, it is clear that the bounded linear exponential loss function outperforms the other loss functions across all the proposed ridge parameters by comparing the risk values.  相似文献

Ordinary least-square (OLS) estimators for a linear model are very sensitive to unusual values in the design space or outliers among y values. Even one single atypical value may have a large effect on the parameter estimates. This article aims to review and describe some available and popular robust techniques, including some recent developed ones, and compare them in terms of breakdown point and efficiency. In addition, we also use a simulation study and a real data application to compare the performance of existing robust methods under different scenarios.  相似文献
