By running the life tests at higher stress levels than normal operating conditions, accelerated life testing quickly yields information on the lifetime distribution of a test unit. The lifetime at the design stress is then estimated through extrapolation using a regression model. In constant-stress testing, a unit is tested at a fixed stress level until failure or the termination time point of the test, while step-stress testing allows the experimenter to gradually increase the stress levels at some pre-fixed time points during the test. In this article, the optimal k-level constant-stress and step-stress accelerated life tests are compared for the exponential failure data under Type-I censoring. The objective is to quantify the advantage of using the step-stress testing relative to the constant-stress one. A log-linear relationship between the mean lifetime parameter and stress level is assumed and the cumulative exposure model holds for the effect of changing stress in step-stress testing. The optimal design point is then determined under C-optimality, D-optimality, and A-optimality criteria. The efficiency of step-stress testing compared to constant-stress testing is discussed in terms of the ratio of optimal objective functions based on the information matrix.  相似文献

In this article, we focus on the general k-step step-stress accelerated life tests with Type-I censoring for two-parameter Weibull distributions based on the tampered failure rate (TFR) model. We get the optimum design for the tests under the criterion of the minimization of the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimate of the pth percentile of the lifetime under the normal operating conditions. Optimum test plans for the simple step-stress accelerated life tests under Type-I censoring are developed for the Weibull distribution and the exponential distribution in particular. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the proposed design and a sensitivity analysis is conducted to investigate the robustness of the design.  相似文献

Estimation of the parameters of an exponential distribution based on record data has been treated by Samaniego and Whitaker [On estimating population characteristics from record-breaking observations, I. Parametric results, Naval Res. Logist. Q. 33 (1986), pp. 531–543] and Doostparast [A note on estimation based on record data, Metrika 69 (2009), pp. 69–80]. Recently, Doostparast and Balakrishnan [Optimal record-based statistical procedures for the two-parameter exponential distribution, J. Statist. Comput. Simul. 81(12) (2011), pp. 2003–2019] obtained optimal confidence intervals as well as uniformly most powerful tests for one- and two-sided hypotheses concerning location and scale parameters based on record data from a two-parameter exponential model. In this paper, we derive optimal statistical procedures including point and interval estimation as well as most powerful tests based on record data from a two-parameter Pareto model. For illustrative purpose, a data set on annual wages of a sample of production-line workers in a large industrial firm is analysed using the proposed procedures.  相似文献

This paper deals with a new censoring scheme, called ‘Block Censoring’ which reduces considerably the total time on test in the life testing experiments with respect to the common used experimental tests such as rightly censored data. This new scheme is analysed when the lifetimes of products follow the two-parameter exponential distribution. Specially, it is proved that the respective spacings are independently distributed exponential. The problem of estimating parameters is investigated in details.A Monte Carlo simulation is conducted for obtaining the optimal block censoring scheme in the sense of the shortest expected test time. Finally, a real data set on times to breakdown of an insulating fluid between electrodes from Nelson [Applied life data analysis. New York: Wiley; 1982. p.105] is analysed.  相似文献

Birnbaum–Saunders fatigue life distribution is an important failure model in the probability physical methods. It is more suitable for describing the life rules of fatigue failure products than common life distributions such as Weibull distribution and lognormal distribution. Besides, it is mainly applied to analytical research about fatigue failure and degradation failure of electronic product performance. The characteristic properties such as numerical characteristics and image features of density function and failure rate function are studied for generalized BS fatigue life distribution GBS(α, β, m) in this paper. Then the point estimates and approximate interval estimates of parameters are proposed for generalized BS fatigue life distribution GBS(α, β, m), and the precision of estimates are investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, when the scale parameter satisfies inverse power law model, the failure distribution model is given for the products of two-parameter BS fatigue life distribution BS(α, β) under progressive stress accelerated life test according to the time conversion idea of famous Nelson assumption, and then the points estimates of parameters are given.  相似文献

A generalized version of inverted exponential distribution (IED) is introduced in this paper. This lifetime distribution is capable of modelling various shapes of failure rates, and hence various shapes of ageing criteria. The model can be considered as another useful two-parameter generalization of the IED. Statistical and reliability properties of the generalized inverted exponential distribution are derived. Maximum likelihood estimation and least square estimation are used to evaluate the parameters and the reliability of the distribution. Properties of the estimates are also studied.  相似文献

Estimation of the lifetime distribution of industrial components and systems yields very important information for manufacturers and consumers. However, obtaining reliability data is time consuming and costly. In this context, degradation tests are a useful alternative approach to lifetime and accelerated life tests in reliability studies. The approximate method is one of the most used techniques for degradation data analysis. It is very simple to understand and easy to implement numerically in any statistical software package. This paper uses time series techniques in order to propose a modified approximate method (MAM). The MAM improves the standard one in two aspects: (1) it uses previous observations in the degradation path as a Markov process for future prediction and (2) it is not necessary to specify a parametric form for the degradation path. Characteristics of interest such as mean or median time to failure and percentiles, among others, are obtained by using the modified method. A simulation study is performed in order to show the improved properties of the modified method over the standard one. Both methods are also used to estimate the failure time distribution of the fatigue-crack-growth data set.  相似文献

Engineering degradation tests allow industry to assess the potential life span of long-life products that do not fail readily under accelerated conditions in life tests. A general statistical model is presented here for performance degradation of an item of equipment. The degradation process in the model is taken to be a Wiener diffusion process with a time scale transformation. The model incorporates Arrhenius extrapolation for high stress testing. The lifetime of an item is defined as the time until performance deteriorates to a specified failure threshold. The model can be used to predict the lifetime of an item or the extent of degradation of an item at a specified future time. Inference methods for the model parameters, based on accelerated degradation test data, are presented. The model and inference methods are illustrated with a case application involving self-regulating heating cables. The paper also discusses a number of practical issues encountered in applications. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This article discusses a life test under progressive type-I group-censoring. We use maximum likelihood method to obtain the point and interval estimators of the parameter of lifetime distribution. In order to obtain a precise estimate of mean life, one needs to design an optimal life test. Thus, this article proposes an approach to determine the number of test units, number of inspections, and length of inspection interval of a life test under a pre-determined budget of experiment such that the asymptotic variance of estimator of mean life is minimum. The method will be applied to two numerical examples and the sensitivity analysis will be investigated.  相似文献

In the life test, predicting higher failure times than the largest failure time of the observed is an important issue. Although the Rayleigh distribution is a suitable model for analyzing the lifetime of components that age rapidly over time because its failure rate function is an increasing linear function of time, the inference for a two-parameter Rayleigh distribution based on upper record values has not been addressed from the Bayesian perspective. This paper provides Bayesian analysis methods by proposing a noninformative prior distribution to analyze survival data, using a two-parameter Rayleigh distribution based on record values. In addition, we provide a pivotal quantity and an algorithm based on the pivotal quantity to predict the behavior of future survival records. We show that the proposed method is superior to the frequentist counterpart in terms of the mean-squared error and bias through Monte carlo simulations. For illustrative purposes, survival data on lung cancer patients are analyzed, and it is proved that the proposed model can be a good alternative when prior information is not given.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to introduce an efficient Bayesian sampling procedure for exponential distribution with type-I censoring. An online inspection method is suggested to reach a Bayes decision prior the termination time of life test. Bayesian sampling plans (BSPs) with quadratic loss function are established to illustrate the use of the proposed method. Some BSPs are tabulated, and the performance of the proposed BSPs is compared with two existing competitive methods. Numerical results indicate that a significant reduction in the experimental time over the conventional BSP can be achieved when the online inspection method is applied.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the situation under a life test, in which the failure time of the test units are not related deterministically to an observable stochastic time varying covariate. In such a case, the joint distribution of failure time and a marker value would be useful for modeling the step stress life test. The problem of accelerating such an experiment is considered as the main aim of this article. We present a step stress accelerated model based on a bivariate Wiener process with one component as the latent (unobservable) degradation process, which determines the failure times and the other as a marker process, the degradation values of which are recorded at times of failure. Parametric inference based on the proposed model is discussed and the optimization procedure for obtaining the optimal time for changing the stress level is presented. The optimization criterion is to minimize the approximate variance of the maximum likelihood estimator of a percentile of the products’ lifetime distribution.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to address the optimal design of the step-stress accelerated degradation test (SSADT) issue when the degradation process of a product follows the inverse Gaussian (IG) process. For this design problem, an important task is to construct a link model to connect the degradation magnitudes at different stress levels. In this paper, a proportional degradation rate model is proposed to link the degradation paths of the SSADT with stress levels, in which the average degradation rate is proportional to an exponential function of the stress level. Two optimization problems about the asymptotic variances of the lifetime characteristics' estimators are investigated. The optimal settings including sample size, measurement frequency and the number of measurements for each stress level are determined by minimizing the two objective functions within a given budget constraint. As an example, the sliding metal wear data are used to illustrate the proposed model.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the potential usefulness of the three-parameter transmuted generalized exponential distribution for analyzing lifetime data. We compare it with various generalizations of the two-parameter exponential distribution using maximum likelihood estimation. Some mathematical properties of the new extended model including expressions for the quantile and moments are investigated. We propose a location-scale regression model, based on the log-transmuted generalized exponential distribution. Two applications with real data are given to illustrate the proposed family of lifetime distributions.  相似文献

In this paper, a group acceptance sampling plan for a truncated life test is proposed when a multiple number of items as a group can be tested simultaneously in a tester, assuming that the lifetime of a product follows the Weibull distribution with a known shape parameter. The design parameters such as the number of groups and the acceptance number will be determined by satisfying the producer's and the consumer's risks at the specified quality levels, while the termination time and the number of testers are specified. The results are explained with tables and examples.  相似文献

Various types of failure, censored and accelerated life tests, are commonly employed for life testing in some manufacturing industries and products that are highly reliable. In this article, we consider the tampered failure rate model as one of such types that relate the distribution under use condition to the distribution under accelerated condition. It is assumed that the lifetimes of products under use condition have generalized Pareto distribution as a lifetime model. Some estimation methods such as graphical, moments, probability weighted moments, and maximum likelihood estimation methods for the parameters are discussed based on progressively type-I censored data. The determination of optimal stress change time is discussed under two different criteria of optimality. Finally, a Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of the estimation methods and the optimality criteria.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the determination of Bayesian life test acceptance sampling plans for finite lots when the underlying lifetime distribution is the two parameter exponential. It is assumed that the prior distribution is the natural conjugate prior, that the costs associated with the actions accept and reject are known functions of the lifetimes of the items, and that the cost of testing a sample is proportional to the duration of the test. Type 2 censored sampling is considered where a sample of size n is observed only until the rth failure occurs and the decision of whether to accept or reject the remainder of the lot is made on the basis of the r observed lifetimes. Obtaining the optimal sample size and the optimal censoring number are difficult problems when the location parameter of the distribution is restricted to be non-negative. The case when the positivity restriction on the location parameter is removed has been investigated. An example is provided for illustration.  相似文献

Recently generalized exponential distribution has been discussed by many authors. In this article, we study the optimal constant-stress accelerated life tests with complete sample for the generalized exponential distribution. The problem of choosing the optimal proportions of test units allocated to each stress level is addressed by using V-optimality as well as D-optimality criteria. Some interesting conclusions are obtained. Finally, real data example and numerical examples have been analyzed to illustrate the proposed procedures.  相似文献

This paper considers a life test under progressive type I group censoring with a Weibull failure time distribution. The maximum likelihood method is used to derive the estimators of the parameters of the failure time distribution. In practice, several variables, such as the number of test units, the number of inspections, and the length of inspection interval are related to the precision of estimation and the cost of experiment. An inappropriate setting of these decision variables not only wastes the resources of the experiment but also reduces the precision of estimation. One problem arising from designing a life test is the restricted budget of experiment. Therefore, under the constraint that the total cost of experiment does not exceed a pre-determined budget, this paper provides an algorithm to solve the optimal decision variables by considering three different criteria. An example is discussed to illustrate the proposed method. The sensitivity analysis is also studied.  相似文献
