In this article, we present a corrected version of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of the scale parameter with progressively Type-I censored data from a two-parameter exponential distribution. Furthermore, we propose a bias correction of both the location and scale MLE. The properties of the estimates are analyzed by a simulation study which also illustrates the effect of the correction. Moreover, the presented estimators are applied to two data sets. Finally, it is shown that the correction of the scale estimator is also necessary for other distributions with a finite left endpoint of support (e.g., three-parameter Weibull distributions).  相似文献

The new class of weighted exponential (WE) distributions obtained by Gupta and Kundu (2009) by implementing Azzalini's method to the exponential distribution. In this study, we generalize the WE distribution to a new class of generalized weighted exponential (GWE) distribution. Several statistical and reliability properties of this new class of distribution are obtained. Estimation and inference procedure for distribution parameters are investigated. Finally, we show that the proposed model can provide better fit than the recent class of weighted exponential by using two real data examples.  相似文献

We consider confidence intervals for the stress–strength reliability Pr(X< Y) in the two-parameter exponential distribution. We have derived the Bayesian highest posterior density interval using non-informative prior distributions. We have compared its performance with the intervals based on the generalized pivot variable intervals in terms of their coverage probabilities and expected lengths. Our simulation study shows that the Bayesian interval performs better according to the criteria used, especially when the sample sizes are very small. An example is given.  相似文献

Recently generalized exponential distribution has been discussed by many authors. In this article, we study the optimal constant-stress accelerated life tests with complete sample for the generalized exponential distribution. The problem of choosing the optimal proportions of test units allocated to each stress level is addressed by using V-optimality as well as D-optimality criteria. Some interesting conclusions are obtained. Finally, real data example and numerical examples have been analyzed to illustrate the proposed procedures.  相似文献

In this article we present a simple bootstrap method for time series. The proposed method is model-free, and hence it enables us to avoid certain situations where the bootstrap samples may contain impossible values due to resampling from the residuals. The method is easy to implement and can be applied to stationary and nonstationary time series. The simulation results and the application to real time series data show that the method works very well.  相似文献

Based on progressive Type-I hybrid censored data, statistical analysis in constant-stress accelerated life test (CS-ALT) for generalized exponential (GE) distribution is discussed. The maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters and the reliability function are obtained with EM algorithm, as well as the observed Fisher information matrix, the asymptotic variance-covariance matrix of the MLEs, and the asymptotic unbiased estimate (AUE) of the scale parameter. Confidence intervals (CIs) for the parameters are derived using asymptotic normality of MLEs and percentile bootstrap (Boot-p) method. Finally, the point estimates and interval estimates of the parameters are compared separately through the Monte-Carlo method.  相似文献

Based on progressively Type-II censored samples, this article deals with inference for the stress-strength reliability R = P(Y < X) when X and Y are two independent two-parameter bathtub-shape lifetime distributions with different scale parameters, but having the same shape parameter. Different methods for estimating the reliability are applied. The maximum likelihood estimate of R is derived. Also, its asymptotic distribution is used to construct an asymptotic confidence interval for R. Assuming that the shape parameter is known, the maximum likelihood estimator of R is obtained. Based on the exact distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of R an exact confidence interval of that has been obtained. The uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator are calculated for R. Bayes estimate of R and the associated credible interval are also got under the assumption of independent gamma priors. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to compare the performances of the proposed estimators. One data analysis has been performed for illustrative purpose. Finally, we will generalize this distribution to the proportional hazard family with two parameters and derive various estimators in this family.  相似文献

In this article, we deal with the problem of testing a point null hypothesis for the mean of a multivariate power exponential distribution. We study the conditions under which Bayesian and frequentist approaches can match. In this comparison it is observed that the tails of the model are the key to explain the reconciliability or irreconciliability between the two approaches.  相似文献

We study the joint distribution of X and N, where N has a geometric distribution and X is the maximum of N i.i.d. exponential variables, independent of N. We present basic properties of these mixed bivariate distributions and discuss parameter estimation for this model. An example from finance, where N represents the number of consecutive positive daily log-returns of currency exchange rates, illustrates stochastic modeling potential of these laws.  相似文献

Prediction limits for the observation from the exponential distribution are considered. Introducing a risk function to compare prediction limits, the limit which minimizes it among the class of α-invariant prediction limits is obtained.  相似文献

Most of the available literature on accelerated life testing deals with tests that use only one accelerating variable and no other explanatory variables. Frequently, however, there is a need to use more than one accelerating or other experimental variables. Examples include a test of capacitors at higher than usual levels of temperature and voltage, and a test of circuit boards at higher than usual levels of temperature, humidity, and voltage. M-step, step-stress models are extended to include k stress variables. Optimum M-step, step-stress designs with k stress variables are found. The polynomial model is considered as a special case, and a lack of fit test is discussed. Also a goodness-of-fit test is proposed and the appropriateness of using its asymptotic chi-square distribution for small samples is shown.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of constant partially accelerated life tests when the lifetime follows the generalized exponential distribution is considered. Based on progressive type-II censoring scheme, the maximum likelihood and Bayes methods of estimation are used for estimating the distribution parameters and acceleration factor. A Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of the obtained estimates.  相似文献

Marshall and Olkin [1967. A multivariate exponential distribution. J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 62, 30–44], introduced a bivariate distribution with exponential marginals, which generalizes the simple case of a bivariate random variable with independent exponential components. The distribution is popular under the name ‘Marshall–Olkin distribution’, and has been extended to the multivariate case. L2-type statistics are constructed for testing the composite null hypothesis of the Marshall–Olkin distribution with unspecified parameters. The test statistics utilize the empirical Laplace transform with consistently estimated parameters. Asymptotic properties pertaining to the null distribution of the test statistic and the consistency of the test are investigated. Theoretical results are accompanied by a simulation study, and real-data applications.  相似文献

In this paper, we have considered the problem of finding the distribution of a linear combination of the minimum and the maximum for a general bivariate distribution. The general results are used to obtain the required distribution in the case of bivariate normal, bivariate exponential of Arnold and Strauss, absolutely continuous bivariate exponential distribution of Block and Basu, bivariate exponential distribution of Raftery, Freund's bivariate exponential distribution and Gumbel's bivariate exponential distribution. The distributions of the minimum and maximum are obtained as special cases.  相似文献

In this article, we present the parameter inference in step-stress accelerated life tests under the tampered failure rate model with geometric distribution. We deal with Type-II censoring scheme involved in experimental data, and provide the maximum likelihood estimate and confidence interval of the parameters of interest. With the help of the Monte-Carlo simulation technique, a comparison of precision of the confidence limits is demonstrated for our method, the Bootstrap method, and the large-sample based procedure. The application of two industrial real datasets shows the proposed method efficiency and feasibility.  相似文献

For reliability-critical and expensive products, it is necessary to estimate their residual lives based on available information, such as the degradation data, so that proper maintenance actions can be arranged to reduce or even avoid the occurrence of failures. In this work, by assuming that the product-to-product variability of the degradation is characterized by a skew-normal distribution, a generalized Wiener process-based degradation model is developed. Following that, the issue of residual life (RL) estimation of the target product is addressed in detail. The proposed degradation model provides greater flexibility to capture a variety of degradation processes, since several commonly used Wiener process-based degradation models can be seen as special cases. Through the EM algorism, the population-based degradation information is used to estimate the parameters of the model. Whenever new degradation measurement information of the target product becomes available, the degradation model is first updated based on the Bayesian method. In this way, the RL of the target product can be estimated in an adaptive manner. Finally, the developed methodology is demonstrated by a simulation study.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to study a statistical model obtained by the mixture of the Riesz probability distribution on symmetric matrices with respect to a multivariate Poisson distribution. We show that this distribution is related to the modified Bessel function of the first kind. We then determine the domain of the means and the variance function of the generated natural exponential family.  相似文献

Under Stein's loss, a class of improved estimators for the scale parameter of a mixture of exponential distribution with unknown location is constructed. The method is analogous to Maruyama's (1998 Maruyama , Y. ( 1998 ). Minimax estimators of a normal variance . Metrika 48 : 209214 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) construction for the variance of a normal distribution and also an extension of the result produced in Petropoulos and Kourouklis (2002 Petropoulos , C. , Kourouklis , S. ( 2002 ). A class of improved estimators for the scale parameter of an exponential distribution with unknown location . Commun. Statist. Theor. Meth. 31 : 325335 .[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Also, robustness properties are considered.  相似文献

The aim of this article is twofold: on the one hand to introduce and study some of the statistical properties of an estimator for the Shannon entropy and on the other hand to develop a goodness-of-fit test for beta-generated distributions and the distribution of order statistics. Beta-generated distributions are a broad class of univariate distributions which has received great attention during the last 15 years, as it obeys nice properties and it extends the distribution of order statistics. The proposed estimator of Shannon entropy of beta-generated distributions is motivated by the respective Vasicek’s estimator, as the latter one is tailored to the class of the beta-generated distributions and the distribution of order statistics. The estimator of Shannon entropy is defined and its consistency is studied. It is, moreover, exploited to build a goodness-of-fit test for the beta-generated distribution and the distribution of order statistics. Simulations are performed to examine the small- and moderate-sample properties of the proposed estimator and to compare the power of the proposed test with the power of competitors under a variety of alternatives.  相似文献

This paper is about the analysis of paired survival data using the exponential bivariate model of Sarkar for the underlying survival times, (X,Y), subject to censoring. Under this parametric model we test parameters in the presence of covariates. We consider first, tests of hypotheses of independence and equality of survival marginals, and second, test of hypotheses of covariate effects and survival superiority of one marginal over the other are considered. For this last question we applied a statistical test based on the Union-intersection principle.  相似文献
