This article considers the problem of estimating the population mean using information on two auxiliary variables in the presence of non response under two-phase sampling. Some improved ratio-in-regression type estimators have been proposed in four different situations of non response along with their properties under large sample approximation. Efficiency comparisons of the proposed estimators with the usual unbiased estimator by Hansen and Hurwitz (1946), conventional ratio and regression estimators using single auxiliary variable and Singh and Kumar (2010b) estimators using two auxiliary variables have been made. Finally, these theoretical findings are illustrated by a numerical example. 相似文献

The present article is an attempt to study the effect of non response at both occasions in search of good rotation patterns over two occasions. Ratio-type estimators were proposed for estimating the population mean at current occasion in presence of non response at both the occasions in two-occasion successive (rotation) sampling. Detail behaviors of proposed estimators were studied. Proposed estimators were compared with the estimator using no information from previous (first) occasion. In this note, we consider the problem of estimation of coefficient of dispersion of a study variable by making use of known value of the coefficient of dispersion of an auxiliary variable. We propose ratio and regression-type estimators. We derive expressions of bias and variance of the proposed estimators to the first order of approximation. The relative efficiencies of the ratio and regression-type estimators with respect to the naïve estimator are investigated through a simulation study. 相似文献

In the present article, we have proposed some classes of estimators based on transformed auxiliary variable. The biases and mean squared errors (MSEs) of the proposed estimators have been obtained. The proposed estimators have been compared with simple mean estimator when there is no matching and the optimum estimator, which is a combination of the means of the matched and unmatched portion of the sample at the second occasion. Optimum replacement policy and the efficiency of the proposed estimators have been discussed. Theoretical results are well supported with an empirical study. 相似文献

This article addresses the problem of estimating of finite population variance using auxiliary information in simple random sampling. A ratio-cum-difference type class of estimators for population variance has been suggested with its properties under large sample approximation. It has been shown that the suggested class of estimators is more efficient than usual unbiased, difference, Das and Tripathi (1978), Isaki (1983), Singh et al. In recent years, zero-inflated count data models, such as zero-inflated Poisson (ZIP) models, are widely used as the count data with extra zeros are very common in many practical problems. In order to model the correlated count data which are either clustered or repeated and to assess the effects of continuous covariates or of time scales in a flexible way, a class of semiparametric mixed-effects models for zero-inflated count data is considered. In this article, we propose a fully Bayesian inference for such models based on a data augmentation scheme that reflects both random effects of covariates and mixture of zero-inflated distribution. A computational efficient MCMC method which combines the Gibbs sampler and M-H algorithm is implemented to obtain the estimate of the model parameters. Finally, a simulation study and a real example are used to illustrate the proposed methodologies. 相似文献

Khoshnevisan et al. [2007. A general family of estimators for estimating population mean using known value of some population parameter(s). Far East Journal of Theoretical Statistics 22, 181–191] have introduced a family of estimators using auxiliary information in simple random sampling. They have showed that these estimators are more efficient than the classical ratio estimator and that the minimum value of the mean square error (MSE) of this family is equal to the value of MSE of regression estimator. In this article, we adapt the estimators in this family to the stratified random sampling and motivated by the estimator in Searls [1964. Utilization of known coefficient of kurtosis in the estimation procedure of variance. Journal of the American Statistical Association 59, 1225–1226], we also propose a new family of estimators for the stratified random sampling. The expressions of bias and MSE of the adapted and proposed families are derived in a general form. Besides, considering the minimum cases of these MSE equations, the efficient conditions between the adapted and proposed families are obtained. The use of surrogate end points has become increasingly common in medical and biological research. This is primarily because, in many studies, the primary end point of interest is too expensive or too difficult to obtain. There is now a large volume of statistical methods for analysing studies with surrogate end point data. However, to our knowledge, there has not been a comprehensive review of these methods to date. This paper reviews some existing methods and summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of each method. In this article, we propose a class of estimators for the population variance of a quantity of interest. The estimators in the class use auxiliary information to improve efficiency, and we suppose that measurement errors are present both in the study and auxiliary variate. We take into account such problem using a regression approach. We show that the class proposed is quite flexible and general, allowing to consider many kinds of information as auxiliary one. This paper suggests an efficient class of ratio and product estimators for estimating the population mean in stratified random sampling using auxiliary information. It is interesting to mention that, in addition to many, Koyuncu and Kadilar (2009), Kadilar and Cingi (2003, 2005), and Singh and Vishwakarma (2007) estimators are identified as members of the proposed class of estimators. The expressions of bias and mean square error (MSE) of the proposed estimators are derived under large sample approximation in general form. Asymptotically optimum estimator (AOE) in the class is identified alongwith its MSE formula. It has been shown that the proposed class of estimators is more efficient than combined regression estimator and Koyuncu and Kadilar (2009) estimator.
