Consider the multiple hypotheses testing problem controlling the generalized familywise error rate k-FWER, the probability of at least k false rejections. We propose a plug-in procedure based on the estimation of the number of true null hypotheses. Under the independence assumption of the p-values corresponding to the true null hypotheses, we first introduce the least favorable configuration (LFC) of k-FWER for Bonferroni-type plug-in procedure, then we construct a plug-in k-FWER-controlled procedure based on LFC. For dependent p-values, we establish the asymptotic k-FWER control under some mild conditions. Simulation studies suggest great improvement over generalized Bonferroni test and generalized Holm test.  相似文献

This article considers multiple hypotheses testing with the generalized familywise error rate k-FWER control, which is the probability of at least k false rejections. We first assume the p-values corresponding to the true null hypotheses are independent, and propose adaptive generalized Bonferroni procedure with k-FWER control based on the estimation of the number of true null hypotheses. Then, we assume the p-values are dependent, satisfying block dependence, and propose adaptive procedure with k-FWER control. Extensive simulations compare the performance of the adaptive procedures with different estimators.  相似文献

In this article, we study inferences for reliability functions of the system having two components connected in series. Suppose that the lifetime of one component has a lognormal distribution. Lognormal, exponential, and weibull distributions are considered for the lifetime of the other component. Using the generalized inference approach, we obtain confidence intervals of our interested parameters with good coverage. Some frequentist properties in small-sample cases and large-sample cases are proved.  相似文献

This article presents a new procedure for testing homogeneity of scale parameters from k independent inverse Gaussian populations. Based on the idea of generalized likelihood ratio method, a new generalized p-value is derived. Some simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed method and existing methods. Numerical results show that the proposed test has good size and power performance.  相似文献

In this paper we give an asymptotic formula of order n ?1/2, where n is the sample size, for the skewness of the distribution of the maximum likelihood estimates of the linear parameters in generalized linear models. The formula is given in matrix notation and is very suitable for computer implementation. Several special cases are discussed. We also give asymptotic formulae for the skewness of the distribution of the maximum likelihood estimates of the dispersion and precision parameters.  相似文献

Abstract

This article presents a general method of inference of the parameters of a continuous distribution with two unknown parameters. Except in a few distributions such as the normal distribution, the classical approach fails in this context to provide accurate inferences with small samples. Therefore, by taking the generalized approach to inference (cf. Weerahandi, 1995 Weerahandi, S. (1995). Exact Statistical Methods for Data Analysis. New York: Springer Verlag. [Google Scholar]), in this article we present a general method of inference to tackle practically useful two-parameter distributions such as the gamma distribution as well as distributions of theoretical interest such as the two-parameter uniform distribution. The proposed methods are exact in the sense that they are based on exact probability statements and exact expected values. The advantage of taking the generalized approach over the classical approximate inferences is shown via simulation studies.

This article has the potential to motivate much needed further research in non normal regressions, multiparameter problems, and multivariate problems for which basically there are only large sample inferences available. The approach that we take should pave the way for researchers to solve a variety of non normal problems, including ANOVA and MANOVA problems, where even the Bayesian approach fails. In the context of testing of hypotheses, the proposed method provides a superior alternative to the classical generalized likelihood ratio method.  相似文献

We introduce a family of Rényi statistics of orders r?∈?R for testing composite hypotheses in general exponential models, as alternatives to the previously considered generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) statistic and generalized Wald statistic. If appropriately normalized exponential models converge in a specific sense when the sample size (observation window) tends to infinity, and if the hypothesis is regular, then these statistics are shown to be χ2-distributed under the hypothesis. The corresponding Rényi tests are shown to be consistent. The exact sizes and powers of asymptotically α-size Rényi, GLR and generalized Wald tests are evaluated for a concrete hypothesis about a bivariate Lévy process and moderate observation windows. In this concrete situation the exact sizes of the Rényi test of the order r?=?2 practically coincide with those of the GLR and generalized Wald tests but the exact powers of the Rényi test are on average somewhat better.  相似文献

In order to avoid wrong conclusions in any further analysis, it is of importance to conduct a formal comparison for characteristic quantities of the distributions. These characteristic quantities we are familiar with include mean, quantity and reliability function, and so on. In this paper, we consider two tests aiming at the comparisons for function of parameters in Pareto distribution based on record values. They are generalized p-value-based test and parametric bootstrap-based test, respectively. The resulting procedures are easy to compute and are applicable to small samples. A simulation study is conducted to investigate and compare the performance of the proposed tests. A phenomenon we note is that generalized p-value-based test almost uniformly outperforms the parametric bootstrap-based test.  相似文献

In this article, L-moments, LQ-moments and TL-moments of the generalized Pareto and generalized extreme-value distributions are derived up to the fourth order. The first three L-, LQ- and TL-moments are used to obtain estimators of their parameters. Performing a simulation study, high-quantile estimates based on L-, LQ-, and TL-moments are compared to the maximum likelihood estimate with respect to their sample mean squared error. This consists of identifying an optimal combination of parameters α and p both considered in the range [0, 0.5] for estimating quantiles by LQ-moments. The results show L-moment and maximum likelihood methods outperform other methods.  相似文献

Tsallis entropy is a generalized form of entropy and tends to be Shannon entropy when q → 1. Using Tsallis entropy, an alternative estimation methodology (generalized maximum Tsallis entropy) is introduced and used to estimate the parameters in a linear regression model when the basic data are ill-conditioned. We describe the generalized maximum Tsallis entropy and for q = 2 we call that GMET2 estimator. We apply the GMET2 estimator for estimating the linear regression model Y = Xβ + e where the design matrix X is subject to severe multicollinearity. We compared the GMET2, generalized maximum entropy (GME), ordinary least-square (OLS), and inequality restricted least-square (IRLS) estimators on the analyzed dataset on Portland cement.  相似文献

In this article, the problem of testing the equality of coefficients of variation in a multivariate normal population is considered, and an asymptotic approach and a generalized p-value approach based on the concepts of generalized test variable are proposed. Monte Carlo simulation studies show that the proposed generalized p-value test has good empirical sizes, and it is better than the asymptotic approach. In addition, the problem of hypothesis testing and confidence interval for the common coefficient variation of a multivariate normal population are considered, and a generalized p-value and a generalized confidence interval are proposed. Using Monte Carlo simulation, we find that the coverage probabilities and expected lengths of this generalized confidence interval are satisfactory, and the empirical sizes of the generalized p-value are close to nominal level. We illustrate our approaches using a real data.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article, we derive the probability density function (pdf) of the product of two independent generalized trapezoidal random variables having different supports, in closed form, by considering all possible cases. We also show that the results for the product of two triangular and uniform random variables follow as special cases of our main result. As an illustration, we obtain pdf of product for a suitably constrained set of parameters and plot some graphs using MATLAB, which express variation in pdf with change in different parameters of the generalized trapezoidal distribution.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a generalized linear model and estimate the unknown parameters using robust M-estimator. Under suitable conditions and by the strong law of large numbers and central limits theorem, the proposed M-estimators are proved to be consistent and asymptotically normal. We also evaluate the finite sample performance of our estimator through a Monte Carlo study.  相似文献

We consider the one-way ANOVA problem of testing the equality of several normal means when the variances are not assumed to be equal. This is a generalization of the Behrens-Fisher problem, but even in this special case there is no exact test and the actual size of any test depends on the values of the nuisance parameters. Therefore, controlling the actual size of the test is of main concern. In this article, we first consider a test using the concept of generalized p-value. Extensive simulation studies show that the actual size of this test does not exceed the nominal level, for practically all values of the nuisance parameters, but the test is not too conservative either, in the sense that the actual size of the test can be very close to the nominal level for some values of the nuisance parameters. We then use this test to propose a simple F-test, which has similar properties but avoids the computations associated with generalized p-values. Because of its simplicity, both conceptually as well as computationally, this F-test may be more useful in practice, since one-way ANOVA is widely used by practitioners who may not be familiar with the generalized p-value and its computational aspects.  相似文献

We give recurrence relations for single and product moments of generalized order statistics under the concept of Kamps from Pareto, generalized Pareto and Burr distributions. The results include as particular cases the above relations for moments of k–th record values.  相似文献

In testing statistical hypotheses, as in other statistical problems, we may be confronted with fuzzy concepts.

In this article, we first redefine some concepts in testing of fuzzy hypotheses and then introduce a generalized version of Neyman-Pearson lemma for testing fuzzy hypotheses using r-levels. Finally, two numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the proposed approach.  相似文献

By approximating the nonparametric component using a regression spline in generalized partial linear models (GPLM), robust generalized estimating equations (GEE), involving bounded score function and leverage-based weighting function, can be used to estimate the regression parameters in GPLM robustly for longitudinal data or clustered data. In this paper, score test statistics are proposed for testing the regression parameters with robustness, and their asymptotic distributions under the null hypothesis and a class of local alternative hypotheses are studied. The proposed score tests reply on the estimation of a smaller model without the testing parameters involved, and perform well in the simulation studies and real data analysis conducted in this paper.  相似文献

In the present article we study several characteristics of the families of generalized beta- and gamma- generated distributions introduced by Alexander et al. (2011) and Zografos and Balakrishnan (2009), respectively. Simple formulas are established for calculating the failure rate of the members of the aforementioned families by exploiting the failure rate of the parent distribution. In addition, the aging properties of the generalized beta- and gamma-generated distributions are explored in terms of the corresponding aging behavior of the parent family.  相似文献

A family of distributions generated by an operator acting on generalized normal density is introduced. This family contains as particular cases many known distributions, including the generalized normal, generalized t, and generalized gamma distributions. Several mathematical properties of the family (including expansions, characteristic function, moments, cumulants, and order statistics properties) are derived. Estimation procedures are derived too by the method of moments, method of maximum likelihood, and the method of empirical characteristic function. A real data application is presented. Finally, extensions to the multivariate case are outlined.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an info-metric framework for testing hypotheses about structural instability in nonlinear, dynamic models estimated from the information in population moment conditions. Our methods are designed to distinguish between three states of the world: (i) the model is structurally stable in the sense that the population moment condition holds at the same parameter value throughout the sample; (ii) the model parameters change at some point in the sample but otherwise the model is correctly specified; and (iii) the model exhibits more general forms of instability than a single shift in the parameters. An advantage of the info-metric approach is that the null hypotheses concerned are formulated in terms of distances between various choices of probability measures constrained to satisfy (i) and (ii), and the empirical measure of the sample. Under the alternative hypotheses considered, the model is assumed to exhibit structural instability at a single point in the sample, referred to as the break point; our analysis allows for the break point to be either fixed a priori or treated as occuring at some unknown point within a certain fraction of the sample. We propose various test statistics that can be thought of as sample analogs of the distances described above, and derive their limiting distributions under the appropriate null hypothesis. The limiting distributions of our statistics are nonstandard but coincide with various distributions that arise in the literature on structural instability testing within the Generalized Method of Moments framework. A small simulation study illustrates the finite sample performance of our test statistics.  相似文献
