ABSTRACT

In this article, we consider the construction of minimum aberration 2n ? k: 2p designs with respect to some existing combined wordlength patterns, where a 2n ? k: 2p design is a blocked two-level design with n treatment factors, 2p blocks, and N = 2q runs with q = n ? k. Two methods are proposed for two situations: n ? 2q ? p ? 1 and n > N/2. These methods enable us to obtain some new minimum aberration 2n ? k: 2p designs from existing minimum aberration unblocked and blocked designs. Examples are included to illustrate the theory.  相似文献

A lower bound for the Es2 value of an arbitrary supersaturated design is derived. A general method for constructing supersaturated designs is proposed and shown to produce designs with n runs and m = k(n — 1) factors that achieve the lower bound for Es2 and are thus optimal with respect to the Es2 criterion. Within the class of designs given by the construction method, further discrimination can be made by minimizing the pairwise correlations and using the generalized D and A criteria proposed by Wu (1993). Efficient designs of 12, 16, 20 and 24 runs are constructed by following this approach.  相似文献

This article proposes an algorithm to construct efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs with m factors and n runs. The algorithm generates efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs very fast. Using the proposed algorithm many balanced multi-level supersaturated designs are constructed and cataloged. A list of many optimal and near optimal, multi-level supersaturated designs is also provided for m ≤ 60 and number of levels (q) ≤10. The algorithm can be used to generate two-level k-circulant supersaturated designs also and some large optimal two-level supersaturated designs are presented. An upper bound to the number of factors in a balanced multi-level supersaturated design such that no two columns are fully aliased is also provided.  相似文献

It is shown that members of a class of two-level nonorthogonal resolution IV designs with n factors are strongly resolvable search designs when k, the maximum number of two-factor interactions thought possible, equals one; weakly resolvable when k = 2 except when the number of factors is 6; and may not be weakly resolvable when k≥ 3.  相似文献

Generalized Bhaskar Rao designs with non-zero elements from an abelian group G are constructed. In particular this paper shows that the necessary conditions are sufficient for the existence of generalized Bhaskar Rao designs with k=3 for the following groups: ?G? is odd, G=Zr2, and G=Zr2×H where 3? ?H? and r?1. It also constructs generalized Bhaskar Rao designs with υ=k, which is equivalent to υ rows of a generalized Hadamard matrix of order n where υ?n.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper the problem of finding exactly optimal sampling designs for estimating the weighted integral of a stochastic process with a product covariance structure (R(s,t)=u(s)v(t), s<t) is discussed. The sampling designs for certain standard processes belonging to the product class are calculated. An asymptotic solution to the design problem also follows as a consequence.  相似文献

Designs for quadratic and cubic regression are considered when the possible choices of the controlable variable are points x=( x1,x2,…,xq) in the q-dimensional. Full of radius R, Bq(R) ={x:Σ4ix2i?R2}. The designs that are optimum among rotatable designs with respect to the D-, A-, and E-optimality criteria are compared in their performance relative to these and other criteria, including extrapolation. Additionally, the performance of a design optimum for one value of R, when it is implemented for a different value of R, is investigated. Some of the results are developed algebraically; others, numerically. For example, in quadratic regression the A-optimum design appears to be fairly robust in its efficiency, under variation of criterion.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The early stages of many real-life experiments involve a large number of factors among which only a few factors are active. Unfortunately, the optimal full-dimensional designs of those early stages may have bad low-dimensional projections and the experimenters do not know which factors turn out to be important before conducting the experiment. Therefore, designs with good projections are desirable for factor screening. In this regard, significant questions are arising such as whether the optimal full-dimensional designs have good projections onto low dimensions? How experimenters can measure the goodness of a full-dimensional design by focusing on all of its projections?, and are there linkages between the optimality of a full-dimensional design and the optimality of its projections? Through theoretical justifications, this paper tries to provide answers to these interesting questions by investigating the construction of optimal (average) projection designs for screening either nominal or quantitative factors. The main results show that: based on the aberration and orthogonality criteria the full-dimensional design is optimal if and only if it is optimal projection design; the full-dimensional design is optimal via the aberration and orthogonality if and only if it is uniform projection design; there is no guarantee that a uniform full-dimensional design is optimal projection design via any criterion; the projection design is optimal via the aberration, orthogonality and uniformity criteria if it is optimal via any criterion of them; and the saturated orthogonal designs have the same average projection performance.  相似文献

The problem considered is that of finding D-optimal design for the estimation of covariate parameters and the treatment and block contrasts in a block design set up in the presence of non stochastic controllable covariates, when N = 2(mod 4), N being the total number of observations. It is clear that when N ≠ 0 (mod 4), it is not possible to find designs attaining minimum variance for the estimated covariate parameters. Conditions for D-optimum designs for the estimation of covariate parameters were established when each of the covariates belongs to the interval [?1, 1]. Some constructions of D-optimal design have been provided for symmetric balanced incomplete block design (SBIBD) with parameters b = v, r = k = v ? 1, λ =v ? 2 when k = 2 (mod 4) and b is an odd integer.  相似文献

In this article, the exchange and interchange algorithm of Zergaw (1989 Zergaw , G. ( 1989 ). A sequential method of constructing optimal block designs . Austral. J. Recursive formulae for constructing block designs with dependent errors . Biometrika 79 : 426430 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) have been modified and used for searching efficient block designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons when observations are dependent. The lower bounds to the A- and D-efficiencies of the designs in a given class of the designs have been obtained for correlated observation structure and the procedure of computing lower bounds to A- and D-efficiencies has been incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm has been translated into a computer program using Microsoft Visual C++. Using this program, a search for efficient designs for making all possible pairwise treatment comparisons has been made for v ≤ 10, b ≤ 33, k ≤ 10 such that bk ≤ 100 and v > k. The block designs considered are usual block designs (rectangular block designs) and circular block designs. Nearest neighbor (NN), autoregressive of order 1 (AR(1)) correlation structures are studied. The ranges of correlation coefficients for different correlation structures investigated are |ρ|≤0.50 for NN correlation structure in rectangular blocks, |ρ|≤0.45 for NN correlation structure in circular blocks, and |ρ|≤0.95 for AR(1) correlation structure. For these ranges, the matrix of correlation coefficients among observations within a block is positive definite. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for a given value of correlation have been investigated against other values of correlation coefficients. Robustness aspects of designs that are efficient for independent observations have also been studied for experimental situations with dependent observations.  相似文献

Designs for estimating axial slopes of a response surface are considered. A design is said to be A- (D-) rotatable if the trace (determinant) of variance–covariance matrix of the estimated slopes at a point in the factor space is a function of the distance of the point from the center of the design. It is shown that for any order d and any dimension k, a design which is rotatable in the Box and Hunter (1957 Box , G. E. P. , Hunter , J. S. ( 1957 ). Block designs are widely used in experimental situations where the experimental units are heterogeneous. The blocked general minimum lower order confounding (B-GMC) criterion is suitable for selecting optimal block designs when the experimenters have some prior information on the importance of ordering of the treatment factors. This paper constructs B-GMC 2n ? m: 2r designs with 5 × 2l/16 + 1 ? n ? (N ? 2l) < 2l ? 1 for l(r + 1 ? l ? n ? m ? 1), where 2n ? m: 2r denotes a two-level regular block design with N = 2n ? m runs, n treatment factors, and 2r blocks. With suitable choice of the blocking factors, each B-GMC block design has a common specific structure. Some examples illustrate the simple and effective construction method.  相似文献

Mixed-level designs, especially two- and four-level designs, are very useful in practice. In the last two decades, there are quite a few literatures investigating the selection of this kind of optimal designs. Recently, the general minimum lower-order confounding (GMC) criterion (Zhang et al., 2008 Zhang, R.C., Li, P.F., Zhao, S.L., Ai, M.Y. (2008). A general minimum lower order confounding criterion for two-level regular design. Stat. Sin. 18:16891705.[Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) gave a new approach for choosing optimal factorials. It is proved that the GMC designs are more powerful than other criteria in the widely practical situations. In this paper, we extend the GMC theory to the mixed-level designs. Under the theory we establish a new criterion for choosing optimal regular two- and four-level designs. Further, a construction method is proposed to obtain all the 2n41 GMC designs with N/4 + 1 ? n + 2 ? 5N/16, where N is the number of runs and n is the number of two-level factors.  相似文献

two‐stage studies may be chosen optimally by minimising a single characteristic like the maximum sample size. However, given that an investigator will initially select a null treatment e?ect and the clinically relevant di?erence, it is better to choose a design that also considers the expected sample size for each of these values. The maximum sample size and the two expected sample sizes are here combined to produce an expected loss function to ?nd designs that are admissible. Given the prior odds of success and the importance of the total sample size, minimising the expected loss gives the optimal design for this situation. A novel triangular graph to represent the admissible designs helps guide the decision‐making process. The H 0‐optimal, H 1‐optimal, H 0‐minimax and H 1‐minimax designs are all particular cases of admissible designs. The commonly used H 0‐optimal design is rarely good when allowing stopping for e?cacy. Additionally, the δ‐minimax design, which minimises the maximum expected sample size, is sometimes admissible under the loss function. We study the problem of approximating a stochastic process Y = {Y(t: tT} with known and continuous covariance function R on the basis of finitely many observations Y(t 1,), …, Y(t n ). Dependent on the knowledge about the mean function, we use different approximations ? and measure their performance by the corresponding maximum mean squared error sub t∈T E(Y(t) ? ?(t))2. For a compact T ? ? p we prove sufficient conditions for the existence of optimal designs. For the class of covariance functions on T 2 = [0, 1]2 which satisfy generalized Sacks/Ylvisaker regularity conditions of order zero or are of product type, we construct sequences of designs for which the proposed approximations perform asymptotically optimal.  相似文献

A general approach for comparing designs of paired comparison experiments on the basis of the asymptotic relative efficiencies, in the Bahadur sense, of their respective likelihood ratio tests is discussed and extended to factorials. Explicit results for comparing five designs of 2q factorial paired comparison experiments are obtained. These results indicate that some of the designs which require comparison of fewer distinct pairs of treatments than does the completely balanced design are, generally, more efficient for detecting main effects and/or certain interactions. The developments of this paper generalize the work of Littell and Boyett (1977) for comparing two designs of R x C factorial paired comparison experiments.  相似文献

Missing observations can occur even in a well-planned experiment. The effect of missing observations can be much more serious when the design is saturated or near saturated. The levels of factor settings that make a design more robust to missing observations are of great importance in the sense that the loss for missing observations becomes minimum. In this study, new augmented pairs minimax loss designs are constructed, which are more robust to one missing design point than the augmented pairs designs presented by Morris (2000 Morris , M. D. A generalized neighbor design relaxes the equality condition on the number of times two treatments as neighbors in the design. In this article, we have considered the construction of some classes of generalized neighbor designs with block size k=3 by using the method of cyclic shifts. The distinguishing feature of this construction method is that the properties of a design can easily be obtained from the sets of shifts instead of constructing the actual blocks of the design. A catalog of generalized neighbor designs with block size k=3 is compiled for v∈{5,6,…,18} treatments and for different replications. We provide the reader with a simpler method of construction, and in general the catalog that gives an open choice to the experimenter for selecting any class of neighbor designs.  相似文献
