A sequentialized version of the x2; goodness of fit test, called repeated x,2; test, is introduced. The form of the asymptotic distribution of the repeated x2 test statistic is given under the null hypothesis as well as under local alternatives. For various numbers of cells Monte Carlo results are given for critical values, power and distribution of stopping time. Finally, the perfor-mance of the repeated and the fixed sample x2 test are compared.  相似文献

Any experiment in which one or more of the experimental units is used more than once is called a repeated measurements experiment. The associated design of a repeated measurements experiment is referred to as a repeated measurements design. This review covers some known results on repeated measurements designs. Emphasis is placed on the impact of optimal design theory. Some construction methods for these designs are presented. Hedayat and Afsarinejad (1975) has an extensive bibliography of earlier literature. A bibliography of these designs published after 1974 is provided at the end of this paper.  相似文献

This paper deals with a longitudinal semi‐parametric regression model in a generalised linear model setup for repeated count data collected from a large number of independent individuals. To accommodate the longitudinal correlations, we consider a dynamic model for repeated counts which has decaying auto‐correlations as the time lag increases between the repeated responses. The semi‐parametric regression function involved in the model contains a specified regression function in some suitable time‐dependent covariates and a non‐parametric function in some other time‐dependent covariates. As far as the inference is concerned, because the non‐parametric function is of secondary interest, we estimate this function consistently using the independence assumption‐based well‐known quasi‐likelihood approach. Next, the proposed longitudinal correlation structure and the estimate of the non‐parametric function are used to develop a semi‐parametric generalised quasi‐likelihood approach for consistent and efficient estimation of the regression effects in the parametric regression function. The finite sample performance of the proposed estimation approach is examined through an intensive simulation study based on both large and small samples. Both balanced and unbalanced cluster sizes are incorporated in the simulation study. The asymptotic performances of the estimators are given. The estimation methodology is illustrated by reanalysing the well‐known health care utilisation data consisting of counts of yearly visits to a physician by 180 individuals for four years and several important primary and secondary covariates.  相似文献

Summary This paper is concerned with the designs in which each experimental unit is assigned more than once to a treatment, either different or identical. An easy method of constructing balanced minimal repeated measurements designs with unequal period sizes is presented whenever the number of periods is less than the number of treatments. Strongly balanced minimal repeated measurements designs with unequal period sizes are also constructed whenever the number of periods is less than the number of treatments.  相似文献

In the usual repeated measurements designs (RMDs), the subjects are all observed for the same number of periods and the optimum RMDs require specified numbers of subjects, usually depending on the number of treatments to be used. In practice, it is sometimes not feasible to meet these requirements. To overcome this problem, alternative designs are suggested where any number of available subjects may be used and they may be observed for different periods. These designs are based on suitable serially balanced sequences which are shown to be optimal. Moreover, besides the usual direct and residual effects, the model considered has an extra term due to the interaction effect between them. The recommended designs are universally optimal in a very general class.  相似文献

Jennlson and Turnbull (1984,1989) proposed procedures for repeated confidence intervals for parameters of interest In a clinical trial monitored with group sequential methods. These methods are extended for use with stochastic curtailment procedures for two samples in the estimation of differences of means, differences of proportions, odds ratios, and hazard ratios. Methods are described for constructing 1) confidence intervals for these estimates at repeated times In the course of a trial, and 2) prediction intervals for predicted estimates at the end of a trial. Mixed effect models, which contain both fixed effects and random effects, are frequently used in dealing with correlated data arising from repeated measurements (made on the same statistical units). In mixed effect models, the distributions of the random effects need to be specified and they are often assumed to be normal. The analysis of correlated data from repeated measurements can also be done with GEE by assuming any type of correlation as initial input. Both mixed effect models and GEE are approaches requiring distribution specifications (likelihood, score function). In this article, we consider a distribution-free least square approach under a general setting with missing value allowed. This approach does not require the specifications of the distributions and initial correlation input. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimation are discussed.  相似文献

For a specified decision rule, a general class of likelihood ratio based repeated significance tests is considered. An invariance principle for the likelihood ratio statistics is established and incorporated in the study of the asymptotic theory of the proposed tests. For comparing these tests with the conventional likelihood ratio tests, based solely on the target sample size, some Bahadur efficiency results are presented. Because of their simplicity, Wald statistics are typically used in complex experimental designs. Likelihood ratio statistics in factorial designs are more flexible than Wald statistics in the sense of adapting to non-saturated designs by fitting only as many parameters as the model calls for. This leads to a significant gain in power. Here we propose likelihood ratio type statistics for testing hypotheses in repeated measures designs with heterogeneous covariance matrices, and derive their asymptotic distribution in one general theorem that does not require normality or even continuity of the responses. Simulation studies demonstrate their advantages over the Wald statistics.  相似文献

Several results relating to the optimal prediction of regression coefficients and random variables under a general linear model with stochastic coefficients are presented. These results are then applied to the analysis of repeated sample surveys over time. Abstract

In categorical repeated audit controls, fallible auditors classify sample elements in order to estimate the population fraction of elements in certain categories. To take possible misclassifications into account, subsequent checks are performed with a decreasing number of observations. In this paper a model is presented for a general repeated audit control system, where k subsequent auditors classify elements into r categories. Two different subsampling procedures will be discussed, named “stratified” and “random” sampling. Although these two sampling methods lead to different probability distributions, it is shown that the likelihood inferences are identical. The MLE are derived and the situations with undefined MLE are examined in detail; it is shown that an unbiased MLE can be obtained by stratified sampling. Three different methods for constructing confidence upper limits are discussed; the Bayesian upper limit seems to be the most satisfactory. Our theoretical results are applied to two cases with r = 2 and k = 2 or 3, respectively.  相似文献

Based on two-sample rank order statistics, a repeated significance testing procedure for a multi-sample location problem is considered. The asymptotic distribution theory of the proposed tests is given under the null hypothesis as well as under local alternatives. A Bahadur efficiency result of the repeated significance test relative to the terminal test based solely on the target sample size is presented. In the adaptation of the proposed tests to multiple comparisons, an asymptotically equivalent test statistic in terms of the rank estimators of the location parameters is derived from which the Scheffé method of multiple comparisons can be obtained in a convinient way.  相似文献

Various models have previously been proposed for data comprising m repeated measurements on each of N subjects. Log likelihood ratio tests may be used to help choose between possible models, but these tests are based on distributions which in theory apply only asymptotically. With small N , the log likelihood ratio approximation is unreliable, tending to reject the simpler of two models more often than it should. This is shown by reference to three datasets and analogous simulated data. For two of the three datasets, subjects fall into two groups. Log likelihood ratio tests confirm that for each of these two datasets group means over time differ. Tests suggest that group covariance structures also differ.  相似文献

Nonlinear regression models arise when definite information is available about the form of the relationship between the response and predictor variables. Such information might involve direct knowledge of the actual form of the true model or might be represented by a set of differential equations that the model must satisfy. We develop M-procedures for estimating parameters and testing hypotheses of interest about these parameters in nonlinear regression models for repeated measurement data. Under regularity conditions, the asymptotic properties of the M-procedures are presented, including the uniform linearity, normality and consistency. The computation of the M-estimators of the model parameters is performed with iterative procedures, similar to Newton–Raphson and Fisher's scoring methods. The methodology is illustrated by using a multivariate logistic regression model with real data, along with a simulation study.  相似文献

The distributional properties of the estimates are studied using simulation and these are found to closely follow normal distribution. The repeated median being robust against outliers with asymptotically 50% breakdown value and having small standard deviation is found to be useful as a basis for monitoring process averages. The control charts using repeated median estimates have been recommended for general use.  相似文献

Analysis of repeated measures data using a mixed model includes specifying a form for the covariance matrix of the within-subject observations. This reduction in the number of estimated parameters from the unspecified structure may improve the efficiency of inferences made. An implementation of this technique has been incorporated in the MIXED procedure of the SAS® statistical package, and includes a wide range of options for the structure of the covariance matrix. It is demonstrated that draftman's display plots and/or plots in a coordinate system with parallel axes can aid in visualizing the dispersion structure.  相似文献

This article proposes a marginalized model for repeated or otherwise hierarchical, overdispersed time-to-event outcomes, adapting the so-called combined model for time-to-event outcomes of Molenberghs et al. (in press Molenberghs, G., Verbeke, G., Efendi, A., Braekers, R., Demétrio, C. G.B. (in press). A combined gamma frailty and normal random-effects model for repeated, overdispersed time-to-event data. In press. [Google Scholar]), who combined gamma and normal random effects. The two sets of random effects are used to accommodate simultaneously correlation between repeated measures and overdispersion. The proposed version allows for a direct marginal interpretation of all model parameters. The outcomes are allowed to be censored. Two estimation methods are proposed: full likelihood and pairwise likelihood. The proposed model is applied to data from a so-called comet assay and to data from recurrent asthma attacks in children. Both estimation methods perform very well. From simulation results, it follows that the marginalized combined model behaves similarly to the ordinary combined model in terms of point estimation and precision. It is also observed that the pairwise likelihood required more computation time on the one hand but is less sensitive to starting values and stabler in terms of bias with increasing sample size and censoring percentage than full likelihood, on the other, leaving room for both in practice.  相似文献
