In this article, multivariate extensions of the combination-based test statistics for the comparison of several treatments in the multivariate Randomized Complete Block designs are introduced in case of categorical response variables. Several tests for the multivariate Randomized Complete Block designs, including MANOVA procedure, are compared with the method proposed via a Monte Carlo simulation study. The method has also been applied to a real case study in the field of sensorial testing studies. Results suggest that in each experimental situation where normality of the supposed underlying continuous model is hard to justify and especially when errors have heavy-tailed distributions, the proposed nonparametric procedure can be considered as a valid solution.  相似文献

This article considers nonparametric comparison of survival functions, one of the most commonly required task in survival studies. For this, several test procedures have been proposed for interval-censored failure time data in which distributions of censoring intervals are identical among different treatment groups. Sometimes the distributions may depend on treatments and thus not be the same. A class of test statistics is proposed for situations where the distributions may be different for subjects in different treatment groups. The asymptotic normality of the test statistics is established and the test procedure is evaluated by simulations, which suggest that it works well for practical situations. An illustrative example is provided.  相似文献

The Wilcoxon rank-sum test and its variants are historically well-known to be very powerful nonparametric decision rules for testing no location difference between two groups given paired data versus a shift alternative. In this title, we propose a new alternative empirical likelihood (EL) ratio approach for testing the equality of marginal distributions given that sampling is from a continuous bivariate population. We show that in various shift alternative scenarios the proposed exact test is superior to the classic nonparametric procedures, which may break down completely or are frequently inferior to the density-based EL ratio test. This is particularly true in the cases where there is a nonconstant shift under the alternative or the data distributions are skewed. An extensive Monte Carlo study shows that the proposed test has excellent operating characteristics. We apply the density-based EL ratio test to analyze real data from two medical studies.  相似文献

We propose a flexible nonparametric estimation of a variance function from a one-dimensional process where the process errors are nonstationary and correlated. Due to nonstationarity a local variogram is defined, and its asymptotic properties are derived. We include a bandwidth selection method for smoothing taking into account the correlations in the errors. We compare the proposed difference-based nonparametric approach with Anderes and Stein(2011)’s local-likelihood approach. Our method has a smaller integrated MSE, easily fixes the boundary bias, and requires far less computing time than the likelihood-based method.  相似文献

This paper proposes nonparametric estimation methods for functional linear semiparametric quantile regression, where the conditional quantile of the scalar responses is modelled by both scalar and functional covariates and an additional unknown nonparametric function term. The slope function is estimated using the functional principal component basis and the nonparametric function is approximated by a piecewise polynomial function. The asymptotic distribution of the estimators of slope parameters is derived and the global convergence rate of the quantile estimator of unknown slope function is established under suitable norm. The asymptotic distribution of the estimator of the unknown nonparametric function is also established. Simulation studies are conducted to investigate the finite-sample performance of the proposed estimators. The proposed methodology is demonstrated by analysing a real data from ADHD-200 sample.  相似文献

In this article, a semiparametric time‐varying nonlinear vector autoregressive (NVAR) model is proposed to model nonlinear vector time series data. We consider a combination of parametric and nonparametric estimation approaches to estimate the NVAR function for both independent and dependent errors. We use the multivariate Taylor series expansion of the link function up to the second order which has a parametric framework as a representation of the nonlinear vector regression function. After the unknown parameters are estimated by the maximum likelihood estimation procedure, the obtained NVAR function is adjusted by a nonparametric diagonal matrix, where the proposed adjusted matrix is estimated by the nonparametric kernel estimator. The asymptotic consistency properties of the proposed estimators are established. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed semiparametric method. A real data example on short‐run interest rates and long‐run interest rates of United States Treasury securities is analyzed to demonstrate the application of the proposed approach. When using nonparametric methods to analyze factorial designs with repeated measures, the ANOVA-type rank test has gained popularity due to its robustness and appropriate type I error control. This article proposes power and sample size calculation formulas under two scenarios where the nonparametric regression coefficients are known or they are unknown but a pilot study is available. When a pilot study is available, the formulas do not need any assumption on the underlying population distributions. Simulation results confirm the accuracy of the proposed methods. An STZ rat excisional wound study is used to demonstrate the application of the methods.  相似文献

The proper combination of parametric and nonparametric regression procedures can improve upon the shortcomings of each when used individually. Considered is the situation where the researcher has an idea of which parametric model should explain the behavior of the data, but this model is not adequate throughout the entire range of the data. An extension of partial linear regression and two other methods of model-robust regression are developed and compared in this context. The model-robust procedures each involve the proportional mixing of a parametric fit to the data and a nonparametric fit to either the data or residuals. The emphasis of this work is on fitting in the small-sample situation, where nonparametric regression alone has well-known inadequacies. Performance is based on bias and variance considerations, and theoretical mean squared error formulas are developed for each procedure. An example is given that uses generated data from an underlying model with defined misspecification to provide graphical comparisons of the fits and to show the theoretical benefits of the model-robust procedures. Simulation results are presented which establish the accuracy of the theoretical formulas and illustrate the potential benefits of the model-robust procedures. Simulations are also used to illustrate the advantageous properties of a data-driven selector developed in this work for choosing the smoothing and mixing parameters. It is seen that the model-robust procedures (the final proposed method, in particular) give much improved fits over the individual parametric and nonparametric fits.  相似文献

This article is concerned with data sharpening (DS) technique in nonparametric regression under the setting where the multivariate predictor is embedded in an unknown low-dimensional manifold. Theoretical asymptotic bias is derived, which reveals that the proposed DS estimator has a reduced bias compared to the usual local linear estimator. The asymptotic normality of the DS estimator is also developed. It can be confirmed from simulation and applications to real data that the bias reduction for the DS estimator supported on unknown manifold is evident.  相似文献

We consider nonparametric logistic regression and propose a generalized likelihood test for detecting a threshold effect that indicates a relationship between some risk factor and a defined outcome above the threshold but none below it. One important field of application is occupational medicine and in particular, epidemiological studies. In epidemiological studies, segmented fully parametric logistic regression models are often threshold models, where it is assumed that the exposure has no influence on a response up to a possible unknown threshold, and has an effect beyond that threshold. Finding efficient methods for detection and estimation of a threshold is a very important task in these studies. This article proposes such methods in a context of nonparametric logistic regression. We use a local version of unknown likelihood functions and show that under rather common assumptions the asymptotic power of our test is one. We present a guaranteed non asymptotic upper bound for the significance level of the proposed test. If applying the test yields the acceptance of the conclusion that there was a change point (and hence a threshold limit value), we suggest using the local maximum likelihood estimator of the change point and consider the asymptotic properties of this estimator.  相似文献

Two-component mixture cure rate model is popular in cure rate data analysis with the proportional hazards and accelerated failure time (AFT) models being the major competitors for modelling the latency component. [Wang, L., Du, P., and Liang, H. (2012), ‘Two-Component Mixture Cure Rate Model with Spline Estimated Nonparametric Components’, Biometrics, 68, 726–735] first proposed a nonparametric mixture cure rate model where the latency component assumes proportional hazards with nonparametric covariate effects in the relative risk. Here we consider a mixture cure rate model where the latency component assumes AFTs with nonparametric covariate effects in the acceleration factor. Besides the more direct physical interpretation than the proportional hazards, our model has an additional scalar parameter which adds more complication to the computational algorithm as well as the asymptotic theory. We develop a penalised EM algorithm for estimation together with confidence intervals derived from the Louis formula. Asymptotic convergence rates of the parameter estimates are established. Simulations and the application to a melanoma study shows the advantages of our new method.  相似文献

Forecasting in economic data analysis is dominated by linear prediction methods where the predicted values are calculated from a fitted linear regression model. With multiple predictor variables, multivariate nonparametric models were proposed in the literature. However, empirical studies indicate the prediction performance of multi-dimensional nonparametric models may be unsatisfactory. We propose a new semiparametric model average prediction (SMAP) approach to analyse panel data and investigate its prediction performance with numerical examples. Estimation of individual covariate effect only requires univariate smoothing and thus may be more stable than previous multivariate smoothing approaches. The estimation of optimal weight parameters incorporates the longitudinal correlation and the asymptotic properties of the estimated results are carefully studied in this paper.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the estimation of partially linear additive quantile regression models where the conditional quantile function comprises a linear parametric component and a nonparametric additive component. We propose a two-step estimation approach: in the first step, we approximate the conditional quantile function using a series estimation method. In the second step, the nonparametric additive component is recovered using either a local polynomial estimator or a weighted Nadaraya–Watson estimator. Both consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators are established. Particularly, we show that the first-stage estimator for the finite-dimensional parameters attains the semiparametric efficiency bound under homoskedasticity, and that the second-stage estimators for the nonparametric additive component have an oracle efficiency property. Monte Carlo experiments are conducted to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators. An application to a real data set is also illustrated.  相似文献

We model the Alzheimer's disease-related phenotype response variables observed on irregular time points in longitudinal Genome-Wide Association Studies as sparse functional data and propose nonparametric test procedures to detect functional genotype effects while controlling the confounding effects of environmental covariates. Our new functional analysis of covariance tests are based on a seemingly unrelated kernel smoother, which takes into account the within-subject temporal correlations, and thus enjoy improved power over existing functional tests. We show that the proposed test combined with a uniformly consistent nonparametric covariance function estimator enjoys the Wilks phenomenon and is minimax most powerful. Data used in the preparation of this article were obtained from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, where an application of the proposed test lead to the discovery of new genes that may be related to Alzheimer's disease.  相似文献

Empirical likelihood-based inference for the nonparametric components in additive partially linear models is investigated. An empirical likelihood approach to construct the confidence intervals of the nonparametric components is proposed when the linear covariate is measured with and without errors. We show that the proposed empirical log-likelihood ratio is asymptotically standard chi-squared without requiring the undersmoothing of the nonparametric components. Then, it can be directly used to construct the confidence intervals for the nonparametric functions. A simulation study indicates that, compared with a normal approximation-based approach, the proposed method works better in terms of coverage probabilities and widths of the pointwise confidence intervals.  相似文献

In this paper, a hypothesis test for heteroscedasticity is proposed in a nonparametric regression model. The test statistic, which uses the residuals from a nonparametric fit of the mean function, is based on an adaptation of the well-known Levene's test. Using the recent theory for analysis of variance when the number of factor levels goes to infinity, the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic is established under the null hypothesis of homocedasticity and under local alternatives. Simulations suggest that the proposed test performs well in several situations, especially when the variance is a nonlinear function of the predictor.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the commonality of nonparametric component functions among different quantile levels in additive regression models. We propose two fused adaptive group Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator penalties to shrink the difference of functions between neighbouring quantile levels. The proposed methodology is able to simultaneously estimate the nonparametric functions and identify the quantile regions where functions are unvarying, and thus is expected to perform better than standard additive quantile regression when there exists a region of quantile levels on which the functions are unvarying. Under some regularity conditions, the proposed penalised estimators can theoretically achieve the optimal rate of convergence and identify the true varying/unvarying regions consistently. Simulation studies and a real data application show that the proposed methods yield good numerical results.  相似文献

We propose a new estimation method to estimate the nonparametric functions in additive models, where the response is subject to fixed censoring. Under some regularity conditions, we show that the proposed estimator is uniformly consistent with certain convergence rates. The simulation study shows that the proposed estimator performs well in finite sample sizes. We also analyze a dataset from an HIV study for an illustration.  相似文献

Semiparametric Analysis of Truncated Data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Randomly truncated data are frequently encountered in many studies where truncation arises as a result of the sampling design. In the literature, nonparametric and semiparametric methods have been proposed to estimate parameters in one-sample models. This paper considers a semiparametric model and develops an efficient method for the estimation of unknown parameters. The model assumes that K populations have a common probability distribution but the populations are observed subject to different truncation mechanisms. Semiparametric likelihood estimation is studied and the corresponding inferences are derived for both parametric and nonparametric components in the model. The method can also be applied to two-sample problems to test the difference of lifetime distributions. Simulation results and a real data analysis are presented to illustrate the methods.  相似文献

Nonparametric estimates of the conditional distribution of a response variable given a covariate are important for data exploration purposes. In this article, we propose a nonparametric estimator of the conditional distribution function in the case where the response variable is subject to interval censoring and double truncation. Using the approach of Dehghan and Duchesne (2011), the proposed method consists in adding weights that depend on the covariate value in the self-consistency equation of Turnbull (1976), which results in a nonparametric estimator. We demonstrate by simulation that the estimator, bootstrap variance estimation and bandwidth selection all perform well in finite samples.  相似文献
