This article deals with the study of some properties of a mixture periodically correlated autoregressive (MPAR S ) time series model, which extends the mixture time invariant parameter autoregressive (MAR) model, that has recently received a considerable interest from many economic time series analysts, to mixture periodic parameter autoregressive model. The aim behind this extension is to make the model able to capture, in addition to all features captured by the classical MAR model, the periodicity feature exhibited by the autocovariance structure of many encountered financial and environmental time series with eventual multimodal distributions. Our main contribution here is obtaining of the second moment periodically stationary condition for a MPAR S (K; 2,…, 2) model, furthermore the closed-form of the second moment is obtained.  相似文献

This article deals with the study of some properties of a mixture periodically correlated n-variate vector autoregressive (MPVAR) time series model, which extends the mixture time invariant parameter n-vector autoregressive (MVAR) model that has been recently studied by Fong et al. (2007 Fong, P.W., Li, W.K., Yau, C.W., Wong, C.S. (2007). On a mixture vector autoregressive model. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 35:135150.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Our main contributions here are, on the one side, the obtaining of the second moment periodically stationary condition for a n-variate MPVARS(n; K; 2, …, 2) model; furthermore, the closed-form of the second moment is obtained and, on the other side, the estimation, via the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm, of the coefficient matrices and the error variance matrix.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the adaptive estimation problem of a Periodic Self-Exciting Threshold Autoregressive (PSETAR) model. The adapted sufficient conditions of Swensen (1985 Swensen, A. R. 1985. The asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio for autoregressive time series with a regression trend. Journal of Multivariate Analysis, 16: 5470. [Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) to our model, are verified and then explored to establish the Local Asymptotic Normality (LAN), the Local Asymptotic Quadratic (LAQ) and the Local Asymptotic properties satisfied by its central sequence. Using these results, we construct adaptive estimators for the parameter model where the innovation density is unspecified but symmetric, while satisfying only some general conditions. The performances of these adaptive estimations are shown via simulation studies and an application on the modeling of the Fraser River data.  相似文献

A periodically stationary time series has seasonal variances. A local linear trend estimation is proposed to accommodate unequal variances. A comparison of this proposed estimator with the estimator commonly used for a stationary time series is provided. The optimal bandwidth selection for this new trend estimator is discussed.  相似文献

This article studies the problem of model identification and estimation for stable autoregressive process observed in a symmetric stable noise environment. A new tool called partial auto-covariation function is introduced to identify the stable autoregressive signals. The signal and noise parameters are estimated using a modified version of Generalized Yule Walker type method and the method of moments. The proposed methods are illustrated through data simulated from autoregressive signals with symmetric stable innovations. The new technique is applied to analyze the time series of sea surface temperature anomaly and compared with its Gaussian counterpart.  相似文献

This article is devoted to the study of the periodicity testing problem in a self-exciting threshold autoregressive (SETAR) model. The local asymptotic normality (LAN) property is shown via the adapted sufficient conditions due to Swensen (1985 Swensen , A. R. ( 1985 ). The asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio for autoregressive time series with a regression trend . Journal of Multivariate Analysis 16 : 5470 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Moreover, the LAN of the central sequence is established. First, we consider the case where the innovation density is specified and we obtain a parametric local asymptotic test. Second, we construct an adaptive test in the case where this density is unspecified but symmetric. The performances of these established tests are shown via simulation studies.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article is devoted to study the problem of estimation in the periodic restricted exponential autoregressive EXPAR(1) models. The estimation procedure that is used is the least-square method. Simulation studies are carried out in order to check the asymptotic properties. An application to monthly flow data for the Fraser River in British Columbia is included.  相似文献

This article deals with the adaptive estimation of a periodic autoregressive model, with unspecified innovation density satisfying only some general technical assumptions. We first establish, while verifying the adapted sufficient conditions of Swensen (1985 Swensen , A. R. ( 1985 ). The asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio for autoregressive time series with a regression trend . Journal of Multivariate Analysis 16 : 5470 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) to our model, the Local Asymptotic Normality (LAN), the Local Asymptotic Quadratic (LAQ), and the Local Asymptotic properties satisfied by its central sequence. Secondly, the Locally Asymptotically Minimax (LAM) estimators are constructed. Using these results, we construct the adaptive estimators of the unknown autoregressive parameters. The performances of the established estimators are shown, via simulation studies.  相似文献

This article studies the probabilistic structure and asymptotic inference of the first-order periodic generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (PGARCH(1, 1)) models in which the parameters in volatility process are allowed to switch between different regimes. First, we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for a PGARCH(1, 1) process to have a unique stationary solution (in periodic sense) and for the existence of moments of any order. Second, using the representation of squared PGARCH(1, 1) model as a PARMA(1, 1) model, we then consider Yule-Walker type estimators for the parameters in PGARCH(1, 1) model and derives their consistency and asymptotic normality. The estimator can be surprisingly efficient for quite small numbers of autocorrelations and, in some cases can be more efficient than the least squares estimate (LSE). We use a residual bootstrap to define bootstrap estimators for the Yule-Walker estimates and prove the consistency of this bootstrap method. A set of numerical experiments illustrates the practical relevance of our theoretical results.  相似文献

Estimation of a cross-sectional spatial model containing both a spatial lag of the dependent variable and spatially autoregressive disturbances are considered. [Kelejian and Prucha (1998)]described a generalized two-stage least squares procedure for estimating such a spatial model. Their estimator is, however, not asymptotically optimal. We propose best spatial 2SLS estimators that are asymptotically optimal instrumental variable (IV) estimators. An associated goodness-of-fit (or over identification) test is available. We suggest computationally simple and tractable numerical procedures for constructing the optimal instruments.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A quantile autoregresive model is a useful extension of classical autoregresive models as it can capture the influences of conditioning variables on the location, scale, and shape of the response distribution. However, at the extreme tails, standard quantile autoregression estimator is often unstable due to data sparsity. In this article, assuming quantile autoregresive models, we develop a new estimator for extreme conditional quantiles of time series data based on extreme value theory. We build the connection between the second-order conditions for the autoregression coefficients and for the conditional quantile functions, and establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator. The finite sample performance of the proposed method is illustrated through a simulation study and the analysis of U.S. retail gasoline price.  相似文献

Linear-representation Based Estimation of Stochastic Volatility Models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Abstract.  A new way of estimating stochastic volatility models is developed. The method is based on the existence of autoregressive moving average (ARMA) representations for powers of the log-squared observations. These representations allow to build a criterion obtained by weighting the sums of squared innovations corresponding to the different ARMA models. The estimator obtained by minimizing the criterion with respect to the parameters of interest is shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. Monte-Carlo experiments illustrate the finite sample properties of the estimator. The method has potential applications to other non-linear time-series models.  相似文献

In this paper, the asymptotic behavior of the conditional least squares estimators of the autoregressive parameters, of the mean of the innovations, and of the stability parameter for unstable integer‐valued autoregressive processes of order 2 is described. The limit distributions and the scaling factors are different according to the following three cases: (i) decomposable, (ii) indecomposable but not positively regular, and (iii) positively regular models.  相似文献

A common practice in time series analysis is to fit a centered model to the mean-corrected data set. For stationary autoregressive moving-average (ARMA) processes, as far as the parameter estimation is concerned, fitting an ARMA model without intercepts to the mean-corrected series is asymptotically equivalent to fitting an ARMA model with intercepts to the observed series. We show that, related to the parameter least squares estimation of periodic ARMA models, the second approach can be arbitrarily more efficient than the mean-corrected counterpart. This property is illustrated by means of a periodic first-order autoregressive model. The asymptotic variance of the estimators for both approaches is derived. Moreover, empirical experiments based on simulations investigate the finite sample properties of the estimators.  相似文献

This article develops three recursive on-line algorithms, based on a two-stage least squares scheme for estimating generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroskedastic (GARCH) models. The first one, denoted by 2S-RLS, is an adaptation of the recursive least squares method for estimating autoregressive conditionally heteroskedastic (ARCH) models. The second and the third ones (denoted, respectively, by 2S-PLR and 2S-RML) are adapted versions of the pseudolinear regression (PLR) and the recursive maximum likelihood (RML) methods to the GARCH case. We show that the proposed algorithms give consistent estimators and that the 2S-RLS and the 2S-RML estimators are asymptotically Gaussian. These methods seem very adequate for modeling the sequential feature of financial time series, which are observed on a high-frequency basis. The performance of these algorithms is shown via a simulation study.  相似文献

Bilinear models in which the expectation of a two-way array is the sum of products of parameters are widely used in spectroscopy. In this paper we present an algorithm called combined-vector successive overrelaxation (COV-SOR) for bilinear models, and compare it with methods like alternating least squares, singular value decomposition, and the Marquardt procedure. Comparisons are done for missing data also.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the application of the empirical likelihood method to the generalized random coefficient autoregressive (GRCA) model. When the order of the model is 1, we derive an empirical likelihood ratio test statistic to test the stationary-ergodicity. Some simulation studies are also conducted to investigate the finite sample performances of the proposed test.  相似文献

This article introduces a new specification for the heterogenous autoregressive (HAR) model for the realized volatility of S&P 500 index returns. In this modeling framework, the coefficients of the HAR are allowed to be time-varying with unspecified functional forms. The local linear method with the cross-validation (CV) bandwidth selection is applied to estimate the time-varying coefficient HAR (TVC-HAR) model, and a bootstrap method is used to construct the point-wise confidence bands for the coefficient functions. Furthermore, the asymptotic distribution of the proposed local linear estimators of the TVC-HAR model is established under some mild conditions. The results of the simulation study show that the local linear estimator with CV bandwidth selection has favorable finite sample properties. The outcomes of the conditional predictive ability test indicate that the proposed nonparametric TVC-HAR model outperforms the parametric HAR and its extension to HAR with jumps and/or GARCH in terms of multi-step out-of-sample forecasting, in particular in the post-2003 crisis and 2007 global financial crisis (GFC) periods, during which financial market volatilities were unduly high.  相似文献

This note is concerned with the limiting properties of the least squares estimation for the random coefficient autoregressive model. In contrast with existing results, ours is applicable to a wide range of models under more general assumptions.  相似文献
