A proposed method based on frailty models is used to identify longitudinal biomarkers or surrogates for a multivariate survival. This method is an extention of earlier models by Wulfsohn and Tsiatis (1997) and Song et al. (2002). In this article, similar to Henderson et al. (2002), a joint likelihood function combines the likelihood functions of the longitudinal biomarkers and the multivariate survival times. We use simulations to explore how the number of individuals, the number of time points per individual and the functional form of the random effects from the longitudianl biomarkers influence the power to detect the association of a longitudinal biomarker and the multivariate survival time. Extending the bifurcating autoregressive (BAR) process (cf. Cowan and Staudte, 1986) to multi-casting (multi-splitting) data, Hwang and Choi (2009) introduced multi-casting autoregression (MCAR, for short) defined on multi-casting tree structured data. This article is concerned with the case when the MCAR model is partially specified only through conditional mean and variance without directly imposing autoregressive (AR) structure. The resulting class of models will be referred to as P-MCAR (partially specified MCAR). The P-MCAR considerably enlarges the class of multi-casting models including (as special cases) MCAR, random coefficient MCAR, conditionally heteroscedastic multi-casting models and binomial-thinning processes. Moment structures for this broad P-MCAR class are investigated. Least squares (LS) estimation method is discussed and asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) of the generalized-LS over ordinary-LS is obtained in a closed form. In this article, we consider a new insurance risk model based on the entrance process proposed in Li et al. (2005), and investigate the finite time ruin probabilities of this model. It is showed that an exponential upper bound for the finite time ruin probability exists, when the distributions of the claim size are light tailed. Furthermore, when the distributions of the claim size are heavy tailed, an asymptotic formula for the finite time ruin probability is obtained. 相似文献

Li et al. (2005) proposed a risk model based on the entrance process and studied the asymptotic behavior of the surplus when time goes to infinity. This article considers the ruin problem in that model. Some simple characteristics (stochastic intensity, compensator, mean process, etc.) of the risk process and other related processes are also considered. We reinvestigate the empirical problem of lag length selection in unit root tests when using the augmented Dickey–Fuller test based on GLS-detrending. We extend the Ng and Perron (1995) work on this issue by applying the finite sample critical values calculated using the formulae proposed by Cheung and Lai (1995). Unlike Ng and Perron (2001) we find through simulation studies that the method of selecting lag length using the sequential t-test in the ADF regression of GLS-detrended series performs the best in most cases. 相似文献

In this article, we establish several recurrence relations for the single and product moments of progressively Type-II right censored order statistics from a log-logistic distribution. The use of these relations in a systematic recursive manner would enable the computation of all the means, variances and covariances of progressively Type-II right censored order statistics from the log-logistic distribution for all sample sizes n, effective sample sizes m, and all progressive censoring schemes (R 1,…, R m ). The results established here generalize the corresponding results for the usual order statistics due to Balakrishnan and Malik (1987) and Balakrishnan et al. (1987). The moments so determined are then utilized to derive best linear unbiased estimators for the scale- and location-scale log-logistic distributions. A comparison of these estimates with the maximum likelihood estimates is made through Monte Carlo simulation. The best linear unbiased predictors of progressively censored failure times is then discussed briefly. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate all the methods of inference developed here. 相似文献

Multivariate skew-normal (SN) distributions (Azzalini and Dalla Valle, 1996) enjoy some of the useful properties of normal distributions, have nonlinear heteroscedastic predictors but lack the closure property of normal distributions (the sum of independent SN random variables is not SN). Recently, there has been a proliferation of classes of SN distributions with certain closure properties, one of the most promising being the closed skew-normal (CSN) distributions of González-Farías et al. (2004). We study the construction of stationary SN ARMA models for colored SN noise and show that their finite-dimensional distributions are skew-normal, seldom strictly stationary and their covariance functions differ from their normal ARMA counterparts in that they do not converge to zero for large lags. The situation is better for ARMA models driven by CSN noise, but at the additional cost of considerable computational complexity and a less explicit skewness parameter. In view of these results, the widespread use of such classes of SN distributions in the framework of ARMA models seem doubtful. 相似文献

We consider the issue of assessing influence of observations in the class of Birnbaum–Saunders nonlinear regression models, which is useful in lifetime data analysis. Our results generalize those in Galea et al. [8] which are confined to Birnbaum–Saunders linear regression models. Some influence methods, such as the local influence, total local influence of an individual and generalized leverage are discussed. Additionally, the normal curvatures for studying local influence are derived under some perturbation schemes. We also give an application to a real fatigue data set. 相似文献

This article presents results concerning the performance of both single equation and system panel cointegration tests and estimators. The study considers the tests developed in Pedroni (1999, 2004), Westerlund (2005), Larsson et al. (2001), and Breitung (2005) and the estimators developed in Phillips and Moon (1999), Pedroni (2000), Kao and Chiang (2000), Mark and Sul (2003), Pedroni (2001), and Breitung (2005). We study the impact of stable autoregressive roots approaching the unit circle, of I(2) components, of short-run cross-sectional correlation and of cross-unit cointegration on the performance of the tests and estimators. The data are simulated from three-dimensional individual specific VAR systems with cointegrating ranks varying from zero to two for fourteen different panel dimensions. We suggest a method for constructing a multidimensional distribution of correlated categorical data with fixed marginal distributions and specified degrees of association based on the log-linear models. A convex combination approach by Lee (1997) is applied to get a joint distribution with fixed Pearson chi-square coefficient. By using the suggested method, we can generate three-dimensional distributions which have a fixed association among three variables. Therefore, the suggested method could be extended to higher dimensions. 相似文献

In this article, we obtained a dependence measure for generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) family in view of Kochar and Gupta (1987) and then compared this measure with Spearman's rho and Kendall's tau in FGM family. Moreover, we evaluated the empirical power of the class of distribution-free tests proposed by Kochar and Gupta (1987, 1990) based on exact distribution of a U-statistics. This is derived via a simulation study for sample of sizes n = 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, and 20. Also, we compared our simulation results with those achieved by Amini et al. Generalized Autoregressive (GAR) processes have been considered to model some features in time series. The Whittle's estimates have been investigated for the GAR(1) process by a simulation study by Shitan and Peiris (2008). This article derives approximate theoretical expressions for the enteries of the asymptotic variance-covariance matrix for those estimates of GAR(1) parameters. We extend the approach of Walker (2003); (2004) to the case of misspecified models. A sufficient condition for establishing rates of convergence is given based on a key identity involving martingales, which does not require construction of tests. We also show roughly that the result obtained by using tests can also be obtained by our approach, which demonstrates the potential wider applicability of this method. 相似文献

Double censoring arises when T represents an outcome variable that can only be accurately measured within a certain range, [L, U], where L and U are the left- and right-censoring variables, respectively. When L is always observed, we consider the empirical likelihood inference for linear transformation models, based on the martingale-type estimating equation proposed by Chen et al. (2002). It is demonstrated that both the approach of Lu and Liang (2006) and that of Yu et al. (2011) can be extended to doubly censored data. We develop a series of Bayesian statistical models for estimating survival of a neotropic didelphid marsupial, the Brazilian gracile mouse opossum (Gracilinanus microtarsus). These models are based on the Cormack–Jolly–Seber model (Cormack, 1964; Jolly 1965; Seber 1965) with both survival and recapture rates expressed as a function of covariates using a logit link. The proposed models allow taking into account heterogeneity in capture probability caused by the existence of different groups of individuals in the population. The models were applied to two cohorts (Cohort, 2000, 2001) with the first one including 14 and the second one 15 sampling occasions. The best models for each of the cohorts indicate that G. microtarsus is best described as partially semelparous, a condition in which mortality after the first mating is high but graded over time, with a fraction of males surviving for a second breeding season (Boonstra, 2005). 相似文献

The Significance Analysis of Microarrays (SAM; Tusher et al., 2001) method is widely used in analyzing gene expression data while controlling the FDR by using resampling-based procedure in the microarray setting. One of the main components of the SAM procedure is the adjustment of the test statistic. The introduction of the fudge factor to the test statistic aims at deflating the large value of test statistics due to the small standard error of gene-expression. Lin et al. (2008) pointed out that the fudge factor does not effectively improve the power and the control of the FDR as compared to the SAM procedure without the fudge factor in the presence of small variance genes. Motivated by the simulation results presented in Lin et al. (2008), in this article, we extend our study to compare several methods for choosing the fudge factor in the modified t-type test statistics and use simulation studies to investigate the power and the control of the FDR of the considered methods. 相似文献

Gadre and Rattihalli [5] have introduced the Modified Group Runs (MGR) control chart to identify the increases in fraction non-conforming and to detect shifts in the process mean. The MGR chart reduces the out-of-control average time-to-signal (ATS), as compared with most of the well-known control charts. In this article, we develop the Side Sensitive Modified Group Runs (SSMGR) chart to detect shifts in the process mean. With the help of numerical examples, it is illustrated that the SSMGR chart performs better than the Shewhart's X¯ chart, the synthetic chart [12], the Group Runs chart [4], the Side Sensitive Group Runs chart [6], as well as the MGR chart [5]. In some situations it is also superior to the Cumulative Sum chart p9] and the exponentially weighed moving average chart [10]. A number of strong laws of large numbers for sequences of pairwise negative quadrant dependent (NQD) random variables have been established by using the generalized three series theorem. In this article, we obtain a strong law of large numbers by using the truncation technique and method of subsequences instead of the generalized three series theorem. Our result generalizes and improves on the corresponding one in Li and Yang (2008). We also obtain a complete convergence result for an array of rowwise pairwise NQD random variables. 相似文献

Population and sample versions of Kendall and Spearman measures of association suitable for multivariate ordinal data are defined. The latter generalize the indices of dependence of Ruymgaart and van Zuijlen (1978), Joe (1990), and Schmid and Schmidt (2007) by allowing atoms in the underlying distribution. The representation of the proposed empirical measures as U-statistics enables to establish their asymptotic normality under general distributions.
