The study proposes a weighted bootstrap control chart based on the strata and determines suitable weights for each stratum by measuring the relative error of estimated Type I risks (Err). In addition to validating the detection effectiveness of the proposed control chart, this study also compares several types of control charts for detecting the Type I, Type II risks, and median run lengths. The proposed control chart shows superior detection effectiveness in six skewed distributions compared to other types of control charts.  相似文献

In practice, different practitioners will use different Phase I samples to estimate the process parameters, which will lead to different Phase II control chart's performance. Researches refer to this variability as between-practitioners-variability of control charts. Since between-practitioners-variability is important in the design of the CUSUM median chart with estimated process parameters, the standard deviation of average run length (SDARL) will be used to study its properties. It is shown that the CUSUM median chart requires a larger amount of Phase I samples to sufficiently reduce the variation in the in-control ARL of the CUSUM median chart. Considering the limitation of the amount of the Phase I samples, a bootstrap approach is also used here to adjust the control limits of the CUSUM median chart. Comparisons are made for the CUSUM and Shewhart median charts with estimated parameters when using the adjusted- and unadjusted control limits and some conclusions are made.  相似文献

Statistical process control tools have been used routinely to improve process capabilities through reliable on-line monitoring and diagnostic processes. In the present paper, we propose a novel multivariate control chart that integrates a support vector machine (SVM) algorithm, a bootstrap method, and a control chart technique to improve multivariate process monitoring. The proposed chart uses as the monitoring statistic the predicted probability of class (PoC) values from an SVM algorithm. The control limits of SVM-PoC charts are obtained by a bootstrap approach. A simulation study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed SVM–PoC chart and to compare it with other data mining-based control charts and Hotelling's T 2 control charts under various scenarios. The results showed that the proposed SVM–PoC charts outperformed other multivariate control charts in nonnormal situations. Further, we developed an exponential weighed moving average version of the SVM–PoC charts for increasing sensitivity to small shifts.  相似文献

In this paper we consider and propose some confidence intervals for estimating the mean or difference of means of skewed populations. We extend the median t interval to the two sample problem. Further, we suggest using the bootstrap to find the critical points for use in the calculation of median t intervals. A simulation study has been made to compare the performance of the intervals and a real life example has been considered to illustrate the application of the methods.  相似文献

Control charts have been used effectively for years to monitor processes and detect abnormal behaviors. However, most control charts require a specific distribution to establish their control limits. The bootstrap method is a nonparametric technique that does not rely on the assumption of a parametric distribution of the observed data. Although the bootstrap technique has been used to develop univariate control charts to monitor a single process, no effort has been made to integrate the effectiveness of the bootstrap technique with multivariate control charts. In the present study, we propose a bootstrap-based multivariate T 2 control chart that can efficiently monitor a process when the distribution of observed data is nonnormal or unknown. A simulation study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed control chart and compare it with a traditional Hotelling's T 2 control chart and the kernel density estimation (KDE)-based T 2 control chart. The results showed that the proposed chart performed better than the traditional T 2 control chart and performed comparably with the KDE-based T 2 control chart. Furthermore, we present a case study to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed control chart to real situations.  相似文献

We consider asymmetric change detection by generalizing the one-sided MEWMA control chart. In particular, we revise and extend the one-sided MEWMA algorithm to cope with mixed alternatives where some coordinates are allowed to increase and others may change in any direction. The motivating application is related to massive brake-disk production for the automotive industry. We consider monitoring of seven geometrical and dimensional parameters and show how the proposed method discriminates between geometrical deformation and dimensional shifts. As often happens in complex industrial processes, these data are nonlinear serially correlated. Therefore, we compute the thresholds of the one-sided MEWMA control charts using the semi-parametric stationary block bootstrap.  相似文献

The conventional Shewhart-type control chart is developed essentially on the central limit theorem. Thus, the Shewhart-type control chart performs particularly well when the observed process data come from a near-normal distribution. On the other hand, when the underlying distribution is unknown or non-normal, the sampling distribution of a parameter estimator may not be available theoretically. In this case, the Shewhart-type charts are not available. Thus, in this paper, we propose a parametric bootstrap control chart for monitoring percentiles when process measurements have an inverse Gaussian distribution. Through extensive Monte Carlo simulations, we investigate the behaviour and performance of the proposed bootstrap percentile charts. The average run lengths of the proposed percentage charts are investigated.  相似文献

In certain statistical process control applications, performance of a product or process can be monitored effectively using a linear profile or a linear relationship between a response variable and one or more explanatory variables. In this article, we design a nonparametric bootstrap control chart for monitoring simple linear profiles based on T 2 statistic. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method in phase II. The average and standard deviation of the run length under different shifts in the intercept, slope, and standard deviation are considered as the performance measures. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed bootstrap control chart improves as the size of the available data increases.  相似文献

In this paper we outline and illustrate an easy-to-use inference procedure for directly calculating the approximate bootstrap percentile-type p-value for the one-sample median test, i.e. we calculate the bootstrap p -value without resampling, by using a fractional order statistics based approach. The method parallels earlier work on fractionalorder-statistics-based non-parametric bootstrap percentile-type confidence intervals for quantiles. Monte Carlo simulation studies are performed, which illustrate that the fractional-order-statistics-based approach to the one-sample median test has accurate type I error control for small samples over a wide range of distributions; is easy to calculate; and is preferable to the sign test in terms of type I error control and power. Furthermore, the fractional-order-statistics-based median test is easily generalized to testing that any quantile has some hypothesized value; for example, tests for the upper or lower quartile may be performed using the same framework.  相似文献

We propose to use AR-Sieve Bootstrap in the construction of a control chart of an autocorrelated process influenced by multiple exogenous inputs. The control charts are compared with Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) control chart through a simulation study. AR-Sieve bootstrap control limits are narrower than EWMA control limits. While the proposed method yields a higher rate of false alarms, it is quick in detecting even minimal structural changes.  相似文献

We investigate several nonparametric methods; the bootstrap, the jackknife, the delta method, and other related techniques. The first and simplest goal is the assignment of nonparametric standard errors to a real-valued statistic. More ambitiously, we consider setting nonparametric confidence intervals for a real-valued parameter. Building on the well understood case of confidence intervals for the median, some hopeful evidence is presented that such a theory may be possible.  相似文献

We propose a new nonparametric multivariate control chart that integrates a novelty score. The proposed control chart uses as its monitoring statistic a hybrid novelty score, calculated based on the distance to local observations as well as on the distance to the convex hull constructed by its neighbors. The control limits of the proposed control chart were established based on a bootstrap method. A rigorous simulation study was conducted to examine the properties of the proposed control chart under various scenarios and compare it with existing multivariate control charts in terms of average run length (ARL) performance. The simulation results showed that the proposed control chart outperformed both the parametric and nonparametric Hotelling's T 2 control charts, especially in nonnormal situations. Moreover, experimental results with real semiconductor data demonstrated the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed control chart. To increase the capability to detect small mean shift, we propose an exponentially weighted hybrid novelty score control chart. Simulation results indicated that exponentially weighted hybrid score charts outperformed the hybrid novelty score based control charts.  相似文献

In this article we consider a control chart based on the sample variances of two quality characteristics. The points plotted on the chart correspond to the maximum value of these two statistics. The main reason to consider the proposed chart instead of the generalized variance | S | chart is its better diagnostic feature, that is, with the new chart it is easier to relate an out-of-control signal to the variables whose parameters have moved away from their in-control values. We study the control chart efficiency considering different shifts in the covariance matrix. In this way, we obtain the average run length (ARL) that measures the effectiveness of a control chart in detecting process shifts. The proposed chart always detects process disturbances faster than the generalized variance | S | chart. The same is observed when the size of the samples is variable, except in a few cases in which the size of the samples switches between small size and very large size.  相似文献

The exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) chart is often designed assuming the process parameters are known. In practice, the parameters are rarely known and need to be estimated from Phase I samples. Different Phase I samples are used when practitioners construct their own control chart's limits, which leads to the “Phase I between-practitioners” variability in the in-control average run length (ARL) of control charts. The standard deviation of the ARL (SDARL) is a good alternative to quantify this variability in control charts. Based on the SDARL metric, the performance of the EWMA median chart with estimated parameters is investigated in this paper. Some recommendations are given based on the SDARL metric. The results show that the EWMA median chart requires a much larger amount of Phase I data in order to reduce the variation in the in-control ARL up to a reasonable level. Due to the limitation of the amount of the Phase I data, the suggested EWMA median chart is designed with the bootstrap method which provides a good balance between the in-control and out-of-control ARL values.  相似文献

Resampling methods for survey sampling have been broadly classified into three categories: the jackknife, the bootstrap, and balanced repeated replication (BRR) in the literature. In this paper, we consider the balanced bootstrap. Two classes of balanced bootstrap designs are constructed. The balanced bootstrap method based on the first class of designs includes BRR as a special case. The second class of designs generalize those given by Nigam and Rao (1996).  相似文献

Parallel bootstrap is an extremely useful statistical method with good performance. In the present study, we introduce a working correlation matrix on the method, which is called parallel bootstrap matrix. We consider some properties of it and the optimal size of the subsample in smooth function models. We also present some performance results of parallel bootstrap estimators, the subsample length selection on the finance time series data.  相似文献

Statistical design is applied to a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart. The chart parameters are control limit H and smoothing constant r. The choices of the parameters depend on the number of variables p and the size of the process mean shift δ. The MEWMA statistic is modeled as a Markov chain and the Markov chain approach is used to determine the properties of the chart. Although average run length has become a traditional measure of the performance of control schemes, some authors have suggested other measures, such as median and other percentiles of the run length distribution to explain run length properties of a control scheme. This will allow a thorough study of the performance of the control scheme. Consequently, conclusions based on these measures would provide a better and comprehensive understanding of a scheme. In this article, we present the performance of the MEWMA control chart as measured by the average run length and median run length. Graphs are given so that the chart parameters of an optimal MEWMA chart can be determined easily.  相似文献

In modern quality control, it is becoming common to simultaneously monitor several quality characteristics of a process with rapid evolving data-acquisition technology. When the multivariate process distribution is unknown and only a set of in-control data is available, the bootstrap technique can be used to adjust the constant limit of the multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM) control chart. To further improve the performance of the control chart, we extend the constant control limit to a sequence of dynamic control limits which are determined by the conditional distribution of the charting statistics given the sprint length. Simulation results show that the novel control chart with dynamic control limits offers a better ARL performance, compared with the traditional MCUSUM control chart. Despite it, the proposed control chart is considerably computer-intensive. This leads to the development of a more flexible control chart which uses a continuous function of the sprint length as the control limit sequences. More importantly, the control chart is easy to implement and can reduce the computational time significantly. A white wine data illustrates that the novel control chart performs quite well in applications.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we consider the problem of constructing non parametric confidence intervals for the mean of a positively skewed distribution. We suggest calibrated, smoothed bootstrap upper and lower percentile confidence intervals. For the theoretical properties, we show that the proposed one-sided confidence intervals have coverage probability α + O(n? 3/2). This is an improvement upon the traditional bootstrap confidence intervals in terms of coverage probability. A version smoothed approach is also considered for constructing a two-sided confidence interval and its theoretical properties are also studied. A simulation study is performed to illustrate the performance of our confidence interval methods. We then apply the methods to a real data set.  相似文献

In this article, we study the capability of the standard control chart for individual observations with fixed control limits to identify special causes reflected as isolated extreme points in the presence of autocorrelation. We consider both the application of standard Shewhart limits and moving-range limits and derive the risks of false positive and false negative when the control chart observations follow a general ARMA(p,q) process.  相似文献
