We derive explicit algebraic expressions for both of the single and product moments of order statistics from Topp–Leone distribution. We also give an identity about single moments of order statistics. These expressions will be useful for computational purposes.  相似文献

In this article, we proposed a new three-parameter probability distribution, called Topp–Leone normal, for modelling increasing failure rate data. The distribution is obtained by using Topp–Leone-X family of distributions with normal as a baseline model. The basic properties including moments, quantile function, stochastic ordering and order statistics are derived here. The estimation of unknown parameters is approached by the method of maximum likelihood, least squares, weighted least squares and maximum product spacings. An extensive simulation study is carried out to compare the long-run performance of the estimators. Applicability of the distribution is illustrated by means of three real data analyses over existing distributions.  相似文献

Abstract

The shape parameter of Topp–Leone distribution is estimated in this article from the Bayesian viewpoint under the assumption of known scale parameter. Bayes and empirical Bayes estimates of the unknown parameter are proposed under non informative and suitable conjugate priors. These estimates are derived under the assumption of squared and linear-exponential error loss functions. The risk functions of the proposed estimates are derived in analytical forms. It is shown that the proposed estimates are minimax and admissible. The consistency of the proposed estimates under the squared error loss function is also proved. Numerical examples are provided.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the problem of estimation of the stress–strength parameter δ?=?P(Y?<?X) based on progressively first-failure-censored samples, when X and Y both follow two-parameter generalized inverted exponential distribution with different and unknown shape and scale parameters. The maximum likelihood estimator of δ and its asymptotic confidence interval based on observed Fisher information are constructed. Two parametric bootstrap boot-p and boot-t confidence intervals are proposed. We also apply Markov Chain Monte Carlo techniques to carry out Bayes estimation procedures. Bayes estimate under squared error loss function and the HPD credible interval of δ are obtained using informative and non-informative priors. A Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out for comparing the proposed methods of estimation. Finally, the methods developed are illustrated with a couple of real data examples.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of continuous distributions named the Topp–Leone odd log-logistic family, which extends the one-parameter distribution pioneered by Topp and Leone [A family of J-shaped frequency functions. J Amer Statist Assoc. 1955;50:209–219]. We study some of its mathematical properties and describe two special cases. Further, we propose a regression model based on the new Topp–Leone odd log-logistic Weibull distribution. The usefulness and flexibility of the proposed family are illustrated by means of three real data sets.  相似文献

We introduce a new family of distributions based on a one-parameter distribution exhibiting bathtub-shaped hazard rates. We study the mathematical properties of the family and estimate its parameters by the method of maximum likelihood. Finally, the usefulness of the family is illustrated using a real dataset.  相似文献

Let X and Y have two-parameter Burr XII distributions. The maximum-likelihood estimator of δ=P(X<Y) is studied under the progressively first failure-censored samples. Three confidence intervals of δ are constructed by using an asymptotic distribution of the maximum-likelihood estimator of δ and two bootstrapping procedures, respectively. Some computational results from intensive simulations are presented. An illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.  相似文献

We introduce an absolutely continuous bivariate generalization of the Topp–Leone distribution, which is a special member of the proportional reversed hazard family using a one-parameter bivariate exchangeable distribution. We show that a copula approach could also be used in defining the bivariate Topp–Leone distribution. The marginal distributions of the new bivariate distribution have also Topp–Leone distributions. We study its distributional and dependence properties. We estimate the parameters by maximum-likelihood procedure, perform a simulation study on the estimators, and apply them to a real data set. Furthermore, we give a way of generating bivariate distributions using the proposed distribution.  相似文献

In this article, we obtain the UMVUE of the reliability function ξ=P(Y>X) and the UMVUE of ξ k =[P(Y>X)] k in the two-parameter exponential distributions with known scale parameters. We also derive the distribution of the UMVUE of ξ and further considering the tests of hypotheses regarding the reliability function ξ.  相似文献

This article considers the estimation of R = P(Y < X) when X and Y are distributed as two independent three-parameter generalized exponential (GE) random variables with different shape parameters but having the same location and scale parameters. A modified maximum likelihood method and a Bayesian technique are used to estimate R on the basis of independent complete samples. The Bayes estimator cannot be obtained in explicit form, and therefore it has been determined using an importance sampling procedure. An analysis of a real life data set is presented for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of unbiased estimation of P[X > Y] = θ for two independent exponentially distributed random variables X and Y. We present (unique) unbiased estimator of θ based on a single pair of order statistics obtained from two independent random samples from the two populations. We also indicate how this estimator can be utilized to obtain unbiased estimators of θ when only a few selected order statistics are available from the two random samples as well as when the samples are selected by an alternative procedure known as ranked set sampling. It is proved that for ranked set samples of size two, the proposed estimator is uniformly better than the conventional non-parametric unbiased estimator and further, a modified ranked set sampling procedure provides an unbiased estimator even better than the proposed estimator.  相似文献

Based on a multiply type-II censored sample, the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and Bayes estimator for the scale parameter and the reliability function of the Rayleigh distribution are derived. However, since the MLE does not exist an explicit form, an approximate MLE which is the maximizer of an approximate likelihood function will be given. The comparisons among estimators are investigated through Monte Carlo simulations. An illustrative example with the real data concerning the 23 ball bearing in the life test is presented.  相似文献

This article deals with the Bayesian and non Bayesian estimation of multicomponent stress–strength reliability by assuming the Kumaraswamy distribution. Both stress and strength are assumed to have a Kumaraswamy distribution with common and known shape parameter. The reliability of such a system is obtained by the methods of maximum likelihood and Bayesian approach and the results are compared using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique for both small and large samples. Finally, two data sets are analyzed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this paper, maximum likelihood and Bayesian approaches have been used to obtain the estimation of \(P(X<Y)\) based on a set of upper record values from Kumaraswamy distribution. The existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimates of the Kumaraswamy distribution parameters are obtained. Confidence intervals, exact and approximate, as well as Bayesian credible intervals are constructed. Bayes estimators have been developed under symmetric (squared error) and asymmetric (LINEX) loss functions using the conjugate and non informative prior distributions. The approximation forms of Lindley (Trabajos de Estadistica 3:281–288, 1980) and Tierney and Kadane (J Am Stat Assoc 81:82–86, 1986) are used for the Bayesian cases. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to compare the different proposed methods.  相似文献

Let X and Y follow independent Burr type XII distributions, which share a common inner shape parameter. The maximum likelihood estimator of the parameter δ = P(X < Y) is studied based on record samples. The existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimator of δ based on record samples are established. When the inner shape parameter is known, an exact confidence interval of δ is derived; otherwise, the Fisher information matrix and two bootstrap methods are used to obtain three approximate confidence intervals of δ. The performances of the proposed methods are evaluated via Monte Carlo simulation. Two examples are provided for illustration.  相似文献

The main purpose of this article is to estimate the underlying covariate distribution with a biased capture–recapture sample. Two procedures are proposed, and the derived estimates are found to be consistent and asymptotically normal. The proposed methods are compared and are shown to perform well in most circumstances via simulation study, and are applied to a real example.  相似文献

This article deals with the estimation of R = P{X < Y}, where X and Y are independent random variables from geometric and exponential distribution, respectively. For complete samples, the MLE of R, its asymptotic distribution, and confidence interval based on it are obtained. The procedure for deriving bootstrap-p confidence interval is presented. The UMVUE of R and UMVUE of its variance are derived. The Bayes estimator of R is investigated and its Lindley's approximation is obtained. A simulation study is performed in order to compare these estimators. Finally, all point estimators for right censored sample from the exponential distribution, are obtained.  相似文献

Abstract

A Marshall–Olkin variant of the Provost type gamma–Weibull probability distribution is being introduced in this paper. Some of its statistical functions and numerical characteristics among others characteristics function, moment generalizing function, central moments of real order are derived in the computational series expansion form and various illustrative special cases are discussed. This density function is utilized to model two real data sets. The new distribution provides a better fit than related distributions as measured by the Anderson–Darling and Cramér–von Mises statistics. The proposed distribution could find applications for instance in the physical and biological sciences, hydrology, medicine, meteorology, engineering, etc.  相似文献

A new lifetime distribution is introduced based on compounding Pareto and Poisson–Lindley distributions. Several statistical properties of the distribution are established, including behavior of the probability density function and the failure rate function, heavy- and long-right tailedness, moments, the Laplace transform, quantiles, order statistics, moments of residual lifetime, conditional moments, conditional moment generating function, stress–strength parameter, Rényi entropy and Song's measure. We get maximum-likelihood estimators of the distribution parameters and investigate the asymptotic distribution of the estimators via Fisher's information matrix. Applications of the distribution using three real data sets are presented and it is shown that the distribution fits better than other related distributions in practical uses.  相似文献
