A variable sampling interval (VSI) feature is introduced to the multivariate synthetic generalized sample variance |S| control chart. This multivariate synthetic control chart is a combination of the |S| sub-chart and the conforming run length sub-chart. The VSI feature enhances the performance of the multivariate synthetic control chart. The comparative results show that the VSI multivariate synthetic control chart performs better than other types of multivariate control charts for detecting shifts in the covariance matrix of a multivariate normally distributed process. An example is given to illustrate the operation of the VSI multivariate synthetic chart.  相似文献

This article proposes a multivariate control chart, the syn-|S| chart, which comprises a standard |S| subchart and a multivariate synthetic sample generalized variance |S| (synthetic |S|) subchart, for detecting shifts in the covariance matrix of a multivariate normally distributed process. A procedure for the optimal design of the syn-|S| chart by minimizing the average extra quadratic loss is provided. The syn-|S| chart has better overall performance compared to the synthetic |S| chart and the standard |S| chart, based on the zero-state and steady-state modes. An example is given to illustrate the operation of the synthetic |S| chart.  相似文献

The synthetic np chart is a combination of the np sub-chart and the conforming run length sub-chart. A procedure for the optimal design of the synthetic np chart is provided by minimizing the out-of-control median run length (MRL). The comparative results show that the synthetic np chart performs better than the corresponding standard np chart for detecting process shifts in the fraction non conforming, in terms of the MRL. An example is given to illustrate the operation of the synthetic np chart.  相似文献

This study presents a control chart for monitoring shifts in the covariance matrix of a multivariate normally distributed process. This chart combines the double sampling, variable sample size and variable sampling interval features, and is called the DSVSSI |S| chart. A Markov chain approach is developed to design the DSVSSI |S| chart, by minimizing the average time to signal (ATS), for a specified shift size in the covariance matrix. The DSVSSI |S| chart has a better ATS performance compared to other existing charts. An example is given to illustrate the operation of the DSVSSI |S| chart.  相似文献

The existing synthetic exponential control charts are based on the assumption of known in-control parameter. However, the in-control parameter has to be estimated from a Phase I dataset. In this article, we use the exact probability distribution, especially the percentiles, mean, and standard deviation of the conditional average run length (ARL) to evaluate the effect of parameter estimation on the performance of the Phase II synthetic exponential charts. This approach accounts for the variability in the conditional ARL values of the synthetic chart obtained by different practitioners. Since parameter estimation results in more false alarms than expected, we develop an exact method to design the adjusted synthetic charts with desired conditional in-control performance. Results of known and unknown in-control parameter cases show that the control limit of the conforming run length sub-chart of the synthetic chart should be as small as possible.  相似文献

A multivariate synthetic exponentially weighted moving average (MSEWMA) control chart is presented in this study. The MSEWMA control chart consists of a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart and a conforming run length control chart. The average run length of the MSEWMA control chart is obtained using a Markov chain approach. From the numerical comparisons, it is shown that the MSEWMA control chart is more efficient than the multivariate synthetic T 2 control chart and the MEWMA control chart for detecting shifts in the process mean vector.  相似文献

In this article, a multivariate synthetic control chart is developed for monitoring the mean vector of a normally distributed process. The proposed chart is a combination of the Hotelling's T 2 chart and Conforming Run Length chart. The operation, design, and performance of the chart are described. Average run length comparisons between some other existing control charts and the synthetic T 2 chart are presented. They indicate that the synthetic T 2 chart outperforms Hotelling's T 2 chart and T 2 chart with supplementary runs rules.  相似文献

This article proposes a multivariate synthetic control chart for skewed populations based on the weighted standard deviation method. The proposed chart incorporates the weighted standard deviation method into the standard multivariate synthetic control chart. The standard multivariate synthetic chart consists of the Hotelling's T 2 chart and the conforming run length chart. The weighted standard deviation method adjusts the variance–covariance matrix of the quality characteristics and approximates the probability density function using several multivariate normal distributions. The proposed chart reduces to the standard multivariate synthetic chart when the underlying distribution is symmetric. In general, the simulation results show that the proposed chart performs better than the existing multivariate charts for skewed populations and the standard T 2 chart, in terms of false alarm rates as well as moderate and large mean shift detection rates based on the various degrees of skewnesses.  相似文献

The coefficient of variation (CV) control chart has recently been introduced in the literature. Here, the salient features of this chart and the conforming run length chart are integrated to produce a synthetic coefficient of variation (SynCV) chart. The run length profile of the SynCV chart is numerically compared with the originally proposed chart and the upward EWMA-γ2 chart. The SynCV chart outperforms the original CV chart, while the EWMA-γ2 outperforms the SynCV chart for small increases in the CV. However, for large increases in the CV, the SynCV chart outperforms the EWMA-γ2 chart.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Quality control charts have been widely recognized as a potentially powerful statistical process monitoring tool in statistical process control because of their superior ability in detecting shifts in the process parameters. Recently, auxiliary-information-based control charts have been proposed and shown to have excellent speed in detecting process shifts than those based without it. In this paper, we design a new synthetic control chart that is based on a statistic that utilizes information from both the study and auxiliary variables. The proposed synthetic chart encompasses the classical synthetic chart. The construction, optimal design, run length profiles, and the performance evaluation of the new chart are discussed in detail. It turns out that the proposed synthetic chart performs uniformly better than the classical synthetic chart when detecting different kinds of shifts in the process mean under both zero-state and steady-state run length performances. Moreover, with reasonable assumptions, the proposed chart also surpasses the exponentially weighted moving average control chart. An application with a simulated data set is also presented to explain the implementation of the proposed control chart.  相似文献

This paper proposes useful exact bounds for the parameters of the double sampling S2 chart with known process variance and it also investigates the properties of the double sampling S2 chart with estimated process variance, in terms of the average run length, the standard deviation of the run length and the average sample size, providing a numerical comparison with the known process variance case. It also provides guidelines to systematically design the double sampling S2 chart both with known and estimated process variance and proposes two optimal design procedures with estimated process variance, for (a) minimizing the out-of-control average run length and (b) minimizing the out-of-control average sample size.  相似文献

Statistical design is applied to a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart. The chart parameters are control limit H and smoothing constant r. The choices of the parameters depend on the number of variables p and the size of the process mean shift δ. The MEWMA statistic is modeled as a Markov chain and the Markov chain approach is used to determine the properties of the chart. Although average run length has become a traditional measure of the performance of control schemes, some authors have suggested other measures, such as median and other percentiles of the run length distribution to explain run length properties of a control scheme. This will allow a thorough study of the performance of the control scheme. Consequently, conclusions based on these measures would provide a better and comprehensive understanding of a scheme. In this article, we present the performance of the MEWMA control chart as measured by the average run length and median run length. Graphs are given so that the chart parameters of an optimal MEWMA chart can be determined easily.  相似文献

A new S2 control chart is presented for monitoring the process variance by utilizing a repetitive sampling scheme. The double control limits called inner and outer control limits are proposed, whose coefficients are determined by considering the average run length (ARL) and the average sample number when the process is in control. The proposed control chart is compared with the existing Shewhart S2 control chart in terms of the ARLs. The result shows that the proposed control chart is more efficient than the existing control chart in detecting the process shift.  相似文献

In this article we consider a control chart based on the sample variances of two quality characteristics. The points plotted on the chart correspond to the maximum value of these two statistics. The main reason to consider the proposed chart instead of the generalized variance | S | chart is its better diagnostic feature, that is, with the new chart it is easier to relate an out-of-control signal to the variables whose parameters have moved away from their in-control values. We study the control chart efficiency considering different shifts in the covariance matrix. In this way, we obtain the average run length (ARL) that measures the effectiveness of a control chart in detecting process shifts. The proposed chart always detects process disturbances faster than the generalized variance | S | chart. The same is observed when the size of the samples is variable, except in a few cases in which the size of the samples switches between small size and very large size.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article develops an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart using an auxiliary variable and repetitive sampling for efficient detection of small to moderate shifts in location. A EWMA statistic of a product estimator of the average (which utilities the information of auxiliary variables as well as repetitive sampling) is plotted on the proposed chart. The control chart coefficients of the proposed EWMA chart are determined for two strategic limits known as outer and inner control limits for the target in-control average run length. The performance of the proposed EWMA chart is studied using average run length when a shift occurs in the process average. The efficiency of the developed chart is compared with the competitive existing control charts. The results of the study revealed that proposed EWMA chart is more efficient than others to detect small changes in process mean.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, a new non parametric control chart based on the modified or controlled exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) statistic is developed to monitor the process deviation from the target value. The proposed control chart is evaluated for different values of design parameters using the average run length as a performance criterion under various sample sizes. The proposed chart is compared with the existing non parametric EWMA sign control chart. It is observed that the proposed chart is better than the existing EWMA sign control chart in terms of run length characteristics. An empirical example is provided for the practical implementation of the proposed chart.  相似文献

A synthetic mean square error (MSE) control chart is presented in this study for monitoring the changes in the mean and standard deviation of a normally distributed process. The synthetic MSE control chart is a combination of the standard MSE control chart and the conforming run length (CRL) control chart. From the numerical comparisons, the synthetic MSE control chart is always more efficient than the standard MSE control chart in detecting shifts in the process mean and standard deviation. The synthetic MSE chart also performs better than the exponentially weighted moving average-semicircle (EWMA-SC) chart, except for some cases where the process mean shifts are small.  相似文献

A multivariate extension of the adaptive exponentially weighted moving average (AEWMA) control chart is proposed. The new multivariate scheme can detect small and large shifts in the process mean vector effectively. The proposed scheme can be viewed as a smooth combination of a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) chart and a Shewhart χ2-chart. The optimal design of the proposed chart is given according to a pre-specified in-control average run length and two shift sizes; a small and large shift each measured in terms of the non centrality parameter. The signal resistance of the newly proposed multivariate chart is also given. Comparisons among the new chart, the MEWMA chart, and the combined Shewhart-MEWMA (S-MEWMA) chart in terms of the standard and worst-case average run length profiles are presented. In addition, the three charts are compared with respect to their worst-case signal resistance values. The proposed chart gives somewhat better worst-case ARL and signal resistance values than the competing charts. It also gives better standard ARL performance especially for moderate and large shifts. The effectiveness of our proposed chart is illustrated through an example with simulated data set.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Runs rules are usually used with Shewhart-type charts to enhance the charts' sensitivities toward small and moderate shifts. Abbas et al. in 2011 took it a step further by proposing two runs rules schemes, applied to the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) chart and evaluated their average run length (ARL) performances using simulation. They showed that the proposed schemes are superior to the classical EWMA chart and other schemes being investigated. Besides pointing out some erroneous ARL and standard deviation of the run length (SDRL) computations in Abbas et al., this paper presents a Markov chain approach for computing the ARL, percentiles of the run length (RL) distribution and SDRL, for the two runs rules schemes of Abbas et al. Using Markov chain, we also propose two combined runs rules EWMA schemes to quicken the two schemes of Abbas et al. in responding to large shifts. The runs rules (basic and combined rules) EWMA schemes will be compared with some existing control charting methods, where the former charts are shown to prevail.  相似文献
