Let μ be a positive measure concentrated on R+ generating a natural exponential family (NEF) F with quadratic variance function VF(m), m being the mean parameter of F. It is shown that v(dx) = (γ+x)μ(γ ≥ 0) (γ ≥ 0) generates a NEF G whose variance function is of the form l(m)Δ+cΔ(m), where l(m) is an affine function of m, Δ(m) is a polynomial in m (the mean of G) of degree 2, and c is a constant. The family G turns out to be a finite mixture of F and its length-biased family. We also examine the cases when F has cubic variance function and show that for suitable choices of γ the family G has variance function of the form P(m) + Q(m)m where P, Q are polynomials in m of degree m2 while Δ is an affine function of m. Finally we extend the idea to two dimensions by considering a bivariate Poisson and bivariate gamma mixture distribution.  相似文献

The process capability index C pk is widely used when measuring the capability of a manufacturing process. A process is defined to be capable if the capability index exceeds a stated threshold value, e.g. C pk >4/3. This inequality can be expressed graphically using a process capability plot, which is a plot in the plane defined by the process mean and the process standard deviation, showing the region for a capable process. In the process capability plot, a safety region can be plotted to obtain a simple graphical decision rule to assess process capability at a given significance level. We consider safety regions to be used for the index C pk . Under the assumption of normality, we derive elliptical safety regions so that, using a random sample, conclusions about the process capability can be drawn at a given significance level. This simple graphical tool is helpful when trying to understand whether it is the variability, the deviation from target, or both that need to be reduced to improve the capability. Furthermore, using safety regions, several characteristics with different specification limits and different sample sizes can be monitored in the same plot. The proposed graphical decision rule is also investigated with respect to power.  相似文献

In this article a natural extension of the beta-binomial distribution is developed. Forced binary choice situations are modeled such that each individual has a probability p of knowing the correct answer. (This probability is distributed f(p) across the population.) Hence each individual will guess at the correct answer with probability 1 – p. The observable random variable R, the total number of correct answers (both by knowing and guessing) out of k trials has a rather complicated distribution. However, when f(p) is distributed beta with parameters m and n, the distribution P(r; k, m, n) can be expressed in terms of the well-known Gaussian hypergeometric function. This distribution has implications for true-false tests, taste tests, and virtually every other forced binary choice situation.  相似文献

A Galton-Watson process in varying environments (Zn), with essentially constant offspring means, i.e. E(Zn)/mn→α∈(0, ∞), and exactly two rates of growth is constructed. The underlying sample space Ω can be decomposed into parts A and B such that (Zn)n grows like 2non A and like mnon B (m > 4).  相似文献

This article deals with alternative process capability indices (PCIs) to traditional basic PCIs C p , C pk , and C pm based on different fraction conforming type of probabilities. In view of various problems of constructing capability indices for univariate as well as multivariate set up, these alternative PCIs are very useful as compared to C p , C pk , and C pm . Computing aspects of proposed PCIs are discussed for normal and non normal processes when process tolerance is symmetric as well as asymmetric. Generalization of these PCIs for multivariate set up is also discussed. Some simulation study results and real life problems are given for applications of proposed PCIs.  相似文献

Consider an ergodic Markov chain X(t) in continuous time with an infinitesimal matrix Q = (qij) defined on a finite state space {0, 1,…, N}. In this note, we prove that if X(t) is skip-free positive (negative, respectively), i.e., qij, = 0 for j > i+ 1 (i > j+ 1), then the transition probability pij(t) = Pr[X(t)=j | X(0) =i] can be represented as a linear combination of p0N(t) (p(m)(N0)(t)), 0 ≤ m ≤N, where f(m)(t) denotes the mth derivative of a function f(t) with f(0)(t) =f(t). If X(t) is a birth-death process, then pij(t) is represented as a linear combination of p0N(m)(t), 0 ≤mN - |i-j|.  相似文献

In this paper, variables repetitive group sampling plans are developed based on the process capability index C pk when the quality characteristic follows a normal distribution with unknown mean and variance. The sampling plan parameters such as the sample size and the acceptance constant are determined to minimize the average sample number. Symmetric and asymmetric cases, in percent defectives due to two specification limits, are dealt with for specified combinations of acceptable quality level and limiting quality level. Tables are provided and examples are given to use proposed plans in practice.  相似文献

Suppose that we have a nonparametric regression model Y = m(X) + ε with XRp, where X is a random design variable and is observed completely, and Y is the response variable and some Y-values are missing at random. Based on the “complete” data sets for Y after nonaprametric regression imputation and inverse probability weighted imputation, two estimators of the regression function m(x0) for fixed x0Rp are proposed. Asymptotic normality of two estimators is established, which is used to construct normal approximation-based confidence intervals for m(x0). We also construct an empirical likelihood (EL) statistic for m(x0) with limiting distribution of χ21, which is used to construct an EL confidence interval for m(x0).  相似文献

In this paper we consider the inferential aspect of the nonparametric estimation of a conditional function , where X t,m represents the vector containing the m conditioning lagged values of the series. Here is an arbitrary measurable function. The local polynomial estimator of order p is used for the estimation of the function g, and of its partial derivatives up to a total order p. We consider α-mixing processes, and we propose the use of a particular resampling method, the local polynomial bootstrap, for the approximation of the sampling distribution of the estimator. After analyzing the consistency of the proposed method, we present a simulation study which gives evidence of its finite sample behaviour.  相似文献

Let Xi, 1 ≤ in, be independent identically distributed random variables with a common distribution function F, and let G be a smooth distribution function. We derive the limit distribution of α(Fn, G) - α(F, G)}, where Fn is the empirical distribution function based on X1,…,Xn and α is a Kolmogorov-Lévy-type metric between distribution functions. For α ≤ 0 and two distribution functions F and G the metric pα is given by pα(F, G) = inf {? ≤ 0: G(x - α?) - ? F(x)G(x + α?) + ? for all x ?}.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Considerable effort has been spent on the development of confidence intervals for process capability indices (PCIs) based on the sampling distribution of the PCI or the transferred PCI. However, there is still no definitive way to construct a closed interval for a PCI. The aim of this study is to develop closed intervals for the PCIs Cpu, Cpl, and Spk based on Boole's inequality and de Morgan's laws. The relationships between different sample sizes, the significance levels, and the confidence intervals of the PCIs Cpu, Cpl, and Spk are investigated. Then, a testing model for interval estimation for the PCIs Cpu, Cpl, and Spk is built as a powerful tool for measuring the quality performance of a product. Finally, an applied example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method and the testing model.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new mixed chain sampling plan based on the process capability index Cpk, where the quality characteristic of interest having double specification limits and follows the normal distribution with unknown mean and variance. In the proposed mixed plan, the chain sampling inspection plan is used for the inspection of attribute quality characteristics. The advantages of this proposed mixed sampling plan are also discussed. Tables are constructed to determine the optimal parameters for practical applications by formulating the problem as a non linear programming in which the objective function to be minimized is the average sample number and the constraints are related to lot acceptance probabilities at acceptable quality level and limiting quality level under the operating characteristic curve. The practical application of the proposed mixed sampling plan is explained with an illustrative example. Comparison of the proposed sampling plan is also made with other existing sampling plans.  相似文献

Abstract

We introduce here the truncated version of the unified skew-normal (SUN) distributions. By considering a special truncations for both univariate and multivariate cases, we derive the joint distribution of consecutive order statistics X(r, ..., r + k) = (X(r), ..., X(r + K))T from an exchangeable n-dimensional normal random vector X. Further we show that the conditional distributions of X(r + j, ..., r + k) given X(r, ..., r + j ? 1), X(r, ..., r + k) given (X(r) > t)?and X(r, ..., r + k) given (X(r + k) < t) are special types of singular SUN distributions. We use these results to determine some measures in the reliability theory such as the mean past life (MPL) function and mean residual life (MRL) function.  相似文献

When the distribution of one of the characteristics of a process is non normal, methods based on empirical percentiles suggest the use of several process capability indices (PCIs) which are similar to the usual C p , C pk , C pm , and C pmk indices. However most of these PCIs apply only to the case of symmetrical tolerances. To take into account the asymmetry of the tolerances as well as the asymmetry of the process distribution, new PCIs which improve the previous ones are proposed. In the end and in order to validate the method proposed here, we apply it to a real production case.  相似文献

A discrete distribution associated with a pure birth process starting with no individuals, with birth rates λ n =λ forn=0, 2, …,m−1 and λ n forn≥m is considered in this paper. The probability mass function is expressed in terms of an integral that is very convenient for computing probabilities, moments, generating functions and others. Using this representation, the mean and the k-th factorial moments of the distribution are obtained. Some nice characterizations of this distribution are also given.  相似文献

A two-point estimator is proposed for the proportion of studies with positive trends among a collection of studies, some of which may demonstrate negative trends. The proposed estimator is the y-intercept of the secant line joining the points (a, F?(a)) and (b, F?(b)), where F?(p) is the empirical distribution function of p-values from one-tailed tests for positive trend derived from the individual studies. Although this estimator is negatively biased for any choice of the points 0 ≤ a < b ≤ 1, the bias is less than that of the previously proposed one-point estimator defined by setting b = 1. The bias of the two-point estimator is smallest when a and b approach the inflection point of the true distribution function, E [F?(p)]. The utility of the two-point estimator is demonstrated by using it to estimate the number of male-mouse liver carcinogens among carcinogenicity studies conducted by the National Toxicology Program.  相似文献

An ARMA(p, q) process observed with an ARMA(c, d) error has an ARMA (p + c, k) representation with k = max(c + q, p + d) whose parameters satisfy some nonlinear constraints. Identification of the model is discussed. We develop Newton-Raphson estimators for the ARMA(p + c, k) process which take advantage of the information contained in the nonlinear restrictions. Explicit expressions for the derivatives of the restrictions are derived.  相似文献

Suppose S is a positive definite m x m random matrix and S> Ω denotes the event that S—Ω is positive definite, Ω being a constant positive definite matrix. Under very mild regularity conditions, we show that the constraint Pr(S12 | S2) = Pr(S1) implies that S has a Wishart distribution on m+ 1 degrees of freedom.  相似文献

Sequential estimation of parameters In a continuous time Markov branching process with Immigration with split rate λ1 Immigration rate λ2, offspring distribution {p1j≥O) and Immigration distribution {p2j≥l} is considered. A sequential version of the Cramér-Rao type information inequality is derived which gives a lower bound on the variances of unbiased estimators for any function of these parameters. Attaining the lower bounds depends on whether the sampling plan or stopping rule S, the estimator f, and the parametric function g = E(f) are efficient. All efficient triples (S,f,g) are characterized; It Is shown that for i = 1,2, only linear combinations of λipij j's or their ratios are efficiently estimable. Applications to a Yule process, a linear birth and death process with immigration and an M/M/∞ queue are also considered  相似文献

Following the paper by Genton and Loperfido [Generalized skew-elliptical distributions and their quadratic forms, Ann. Inst. Statist. Math. 57 (2005), pp. 389–401], we say that Z has a generalized skew-normal distribution, if its probability density function (p.d.f.) is given by f(z)=2φ p (z; ξ, Ω)π (z?ξ), z∈? p , where φ p (·; ξ, Ω) is the p-dimensional normal p.d.f. with location vector ξ and scale matrix Ω, ξ∈? p , Ω>0, and π is a skewing function from ? p to ?, that is 0≤π (z)≤1 and π (?z)=1?π (z), ? z∈? p . First the distribution of linear transformations of Z are studied, and some moments of Z and its quadratic forms are derived. Next we obtain the joint moment-generating functions (m.g.f.’s) of linear and quadratic forms of Z and then investigate conditions for their independence. Finally explicit forms for the above distributions, m.g.f.’s and moments are derived when π (z)=κ (αz), where α∈? p and κ is the normal, Laplace, logistic or uniform distribution function.  相似文献
