Chinese women celebrated their first International Women's Day in 1924. The celebration was held at the No.1 Public Park in Guangzhou City, initiated by the Central Women's Department of the Kuomintang government. During the celebration, Madame He Xiangning, who was in charge of publicity affairs, chaired a meeting that was attended by more than 1,000 people from women's federations and more than 20 public women's schools of higher education or professional training, including a women drivers' continuation school.  相似文献

Women's development is a process. It is also a process to await the Fourth World Conference on Women to be held in Beijing in 1995, a process to further mobilize women from various countries to gain equality between the sexes and to take a part in social development. The second international seminar on women's studies was held from November 23 to 26, 1993, at Beijing University in preparation for this day. Some 100 women researchers from Australia, Bangladesh', Canada, the United States, England, Malaysia and Japan, as well as Hong Kong and China participated in the event. A few years ago, a popular TV program Animal World produced by China Central Television (CCTV), was well received by men and women, old and young, and people from all circles. Sun Qiuping, a reporter from CCTV, led her colleagues to film the section about wild animals in China.For six years, Sun and her colleagues sought those nearly extinct wild animals in the virgin forests and barren hills. They experienced many hardships, and even the trial of death.In 1992, Sun won first prize in the First National TV Program Contest for her first TV program Oasis in the Mist about the tropical rain forest and its wild life. She also won awards for photography and music. Sun edited the TV program Mongoose and won a first prize for programs on special topics. Because of her accomplishments, she has been awarded the prize of the CCTV director's special fund, and was named a national "March 8 Pacesetter' by the All-China Women's Federation.  相似文献

On March 8, 1995, Wu Qi and Pu Yuyan headed out from Guangzhou with a plan to travel all across China. During the 1,277 days from March 8, 1995 to August 8, 1998, they left their footprints in the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of the mainland as well as Hong Kong and Macao, with Taiwan the only exclusion From Mohe, Heilongjiang in the far north to Sanya, Hainan in the far south. From Fuyuan, Heilongjiang in the east to Xinjiang's Tuergate Port in the extreme west. The whole route was approximately 150,000 km (including 4,732 km on foot and 8,410 by bike). SHEN Kexin is one of the 102 women who won the Women's Illiteracy Elimination Award (WIEA) in 1995. Through her unremitting efforts, 326 illiterate women learned to read and write and 44 girls went back to school. The award winners came from different ethnic groups and different walks of life. Most of the 1.253 million Hani people live in mountainous areas between the Honghe and Lancang rivers in the south of Yunnan Province. The Hani language, with a Latin alphabet similar to the Yi language, was formulated in 1957. Both the Hani and Yi nationalities evolved from the ancient Qiang people. The tribe, called Heyi 300 B.C., is said to be the ancestors of the Hani. The tribe moved south to Mount Ailao and Mount Wuliang, the present home of the Hani. The social development of the Hani was unbalanced at the founding of New China in 1949. The area inhabited by the Hani nationality belonged to the feudal society, with some areas still at the end of the primitive society. The Hani people tend to live in the mountainous areas at between 1000- 2500 meters above sea level. The Hani, who have engaged in agriculture for generations, have mastered method for reclaiming the terraced fields, which was included in the "Agriculture Encyclopedia" by Xu Guangqi, a scientist in the Ming Dynasty.
