In this paper, we consider a model checking problem for general linear models with randomly missing covariates. Two types of score type tests with inverse probability weight, which is estimated by parameter and nonparameter methods respectively, are proposed to this goodness of fit problem. The asymptotic properties of the test statistics are developed under the null and local alternative hypothesis. Simulation study is carried out to present the performance of the sizes and powers of the tests. We illustrate the proposed method with a data set on monozygotic twins.  相似文献

This study contributes to this line of research by determining whether purchasing power parity (PPP) holds true in BRICS countries (i.e., Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). We test the hypothesis of PPP in real exchange rate using a more powerful quantile unit-root test with stationary covariates. Our empirical findings indicate a support of PPP for all BRICS countries under study. Our study has important policy implications for the government of the BRICS countries conducting exchange rate policy through PPP.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain several influence measures for the multivariate linear general model through the approach proposed by Muñoz-Pichardo et al. (1995), which is based on the concept of conditional bias. An interesting charasteristic of this approach is that it does not require any distributional hypothesis. Appling the obtained results to the multivariate regression model, we obtain some measures proposed by other authors. Nevertheless, on the results obtained in this paper, we emphasize two aspects. First, they provide a theoretical foundation for measures proposed by other authors for the mul¬tivariate regression model. Second, they can be applied to any linear model that can be formulated as a particular case of the multivariate linear general model. In particular, we carry out an application to the multivariate analysis of covariance.  相似文献

Motivated by a heart disease data, we propose a new partially linear error-in-variable models with error-prone covariates, in which mismeasured covariate appears in the noparametric part and the covariates in the parametric part are not observed, but ancillary variables are available. In this case, we first calibrate the linear covariates, and then use the least-square method and the local linear method to estimate parametric and nonparametric components. Also, under certain conditions the asymptotic distributions of proposed estimates are obtained. Simulated and real examples are conducted to illustrate our proposed methodology.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we consider the inverse probability weighted estimators for a single-index model with missing covariates when the selection probabilities are known or unknown. It is shown that the estimator for the index parameter by using estimated selection probabilities has a smaller asymptotic variance than that with true selection probabilities, thus is more efficient. Therefore, the important Horvitz-Thompson property is verified for the index parameter in single index model. However, this difference disappears for the estimators of the link function. Some numerical examples and a real data application are also conducted to illustrate the performances of the estimators.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss bias-corrected estimators for the regression and the dispersion parameters in an extended class of dispersion models (Jørgensen, 1997b). This class extends the regular dispersion models by letting the dispersion parameter vary throughout the observations, and contains the dispersion models as particular case. General formulae for the O(n−1) bias are obtained explicitly in dispersion models with dispersion covariates, which generalize previous results obtained by Botter and Cordeiro (1998), Cordeiro and McCullagh (1991), Cordeiro and Vasconcellos (1999), and Paula (1992). The practical use of the formulae is that we can derive closed-form expressions for the O(n−1) biases of the maximum likelihood estimators of the regression and dispersion parameters when the information matrix has a closed-form. Various expressions for the O(n−1) biases are given for special models. The formulae have advantages for numerical purposes because they require only a supplementary weighted linear regression. We also compare these bias-corrected estimators with two different estimators which are also bias-free to order O(n−1) that are based on bootstrap methods. An alternate representation of the densities of some test statistics for the structural coefficients of the multivariate linear functional relationship model is proposed in this article. These statistics are distributed as the ratio of a linear combination of chi-square variÂtes over the root of a product of chi-square variÂtes. A computable representation of their densities has already been derived by Provost (1984) with the help of the technique of the inverse Mellin transform. The connection of the alternate representation to the densities of products of independent beta type-2 and of independent F-random variables is also discussed.  相似文献

We consider statistical inference for partially linear single-index models (PLSIM) when some linear covariates are not observed, but ancillary variables are available. Based on the profile least-squared estimators of the unknowns, we study the testing problems for parametric components in the proposed models. It is to see whether the generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) tests proposed by Fan et al. (2001) are applicable to testing for the parametric components. We show that under the null hypothesis the proposed GLR statistics follow asymptotically the χ2-distributions with the scale constants and the degrees of freedom being independent of the nuisance parameters or functions, which is called the Wilks phenomenon. Simulated experiments are conducted to illustrate our proposed methodology.  相似文献

Within the context of the multiviriate general linear model, and using a Bayesian formulation and Kullback-Leibler divergences this paper provides a framework and the resultant methods for the problem of detecting and characterizing influential subsets of observations when the goal is to estimate parameters. It is further indicated how these influence measures inherently depend upon one's exact estimative intent. The relationship to previous work on observations influential in estimation is discussed. The estimative influence measures obtained here are also compared with predictive influence functions previously obtained. Several examples are presented illustrating the methodology.  相似文献

The EM algorithm is often used for finding the maximum likelihood estimates in generalized linear models with incomplete data. In this article, the author presents a robust method in the framework of the maximum likelihood estimation for fitting generalized linear models when nonignorable covariates are missing. His robust approach is useful for downweighting any influential observations when estimating the model parameters. To avoid computational problems involving irreducibly high‐dimensional integrals, he adopts a Metropolis‐Hastings algorithm based on a Markov chain sampling method. He carries out simulations to investigate the behaviour of the robust estimates in the presence of outliers and missing covariates; furthermore, he compares these estimates to the classical maximum likelihood estimates. Finally, he illustrates his approach using data on the occurrence of delirium in patients operated on for abdominal aortic aneurysm.  相似文献

Linear mixed models are widely used when multiple correlated measurements are made on each unit of interest. In many applications, the units may form several distinct clusters, and such heterogeneity can be more appropriately modelled by a finite mixture linear mixed model. The classical estimation approach, in which both the random effects and the error parts are assumed to follow normal distribution, is sensitive to outliers, and failure to accommodate outliers may greatly jeopardize the model estimation and inference. We propose a new mixture linear mixed model using multivariate t distribution. For each mixture component, we assume the response and the random effects jointly follow a multivariate t distribution, to conveniently robustify the estimation procedure. An efficient expectation conditional maximization algorithm is developed for conducting maximum likelihood estimation. The degrees of freedom parameters of the t distributions are chosen data adaptively, for achieving flexible trade-off between estimation robustness and efficiency. Simulation studies and an application on analysing lung growth longitudinal data showcase the efficacy of the proposed approach.  相似文献

Longitudinal studies occcur frequently in many different disciplines. To fully utilize the potential value of the information contained in a longitudinal data, various multivariate linear models have been proposed. The methodology and analysis are somewhat unique in their own ways and their relationships are not well understood and presented. This article describes a general multivaritate linear model for longitudinal data and attempts to provide a constructive formulation of the components in the mean response profile. The objective is to point out the extension and connections of some well-known models that have been obscured by different areas of application. More imporiantly, the model is expressed in a unified regression form from the subject matter considerations. Such an approach is simpler and more intuitive than other ways to modeling and parameter estimation. As a cmsequeace the analyses of the general class cf models for longitudional data can be casily implemented with standard software.  相似文献

Nonparametric regression methods have been widely studied in functional regression analysis in the context of functional covariates and univariate response, but it is not the case for functional covariates with multivariate response. In this paper, we present two new solutions for the latter problem: the first is to directly extend the nonparametric method for univariate response to multivariate response, and in the second, the correlation among different responses is incorporated into the model. The asymptotic properties of the estimators are studied, and the effectiveness of the proposed methods is demonstrated through several simulation studies and a real data example.  相似文献

In this article, small area estimation under a multivariate linear model for repeated measures data is considered. The proposed model aims to get a model which borrows strength both across small areas and over time. The model accounts for repeated surveys, grouped response units, and random effects variations. Estimation of model parameters is discussed within a likelihood based approach. Prediction of random effects, small area means across time points, and per group units are derived. A parametric bootstrap method is proposed for estimating the mean squared error of the predicted small area means. Results are supported by a simulation study.  相似文献

This paper introduces a multivariate long-memory model with structural breaks. In the proposed framework, the time series exhibits possibly fractional orders of integration which are allowed to be different in each subsample. The break date is endogenously determined using a procedure that minimizes the residual sum of squares (RSS). Monte Carlo experiments show that this method for detecting breaks performs well in large samples. As an illustration, we estimate a trivariate VAR including prices, employment and GDP in both the US and Mexico. For the subsample preceding the break, our findings are similar to those of earlier studies based on a standard VAR approach in both the countries, such that the variables exhibit integer degrees of integration. On the contrary, the series is found to be fractionally integrated after the break, with the fractional differencing parameters being higher than one in the case of Mexico.  相似文献

The asymptotic properties of the estimator are obtained, showing different convergence rates for the integrated covariates and stationary covariates. The nonparametric estimator of the functional coefficient with integrated covariates has a faster convergence rate than the estimator with stationary covariates, and its asymptotic distribution is mixed normal. Moreover, the adaptive estimation is more efficient than the least square estimation for non normal errors. A simulation study is conducted to illustrate our theoretical results.  相似文献

We Consider the generalized multivariate linear model and assume the covariance matrix of the p x 1 vector of responses on a given individual can be represented in the general linear structure form described by Anderson (1973). The effects of the use of estimates of the parameters of the covariance matrix on the generalized least squares estimator of the regression coefficients and on the prediction of a portion of a future vector, when only the first portion of the vector has been observed, are investigated. Approximations are derived for the covariance matrix of the generalized least squares estimator and for the mean square error matrix of the usual predictor, for the practical case where estimated parameters are used.  相似文献
