A Soldier on the Roof of the World

IT was during the Cultural Revolution, in, the year that I turned 16, that I put on an army uniform, got on a train, and left Beijing for Urumqi in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. After six days of driving on the vast Gobi Desert, I reached Kashi of southern Xinjiang. After another six days' severe jolting, I arrived at the hig'nest land in China. I was one of the five first women soldiers

Shanghai Strengthens Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency上海首度专门立法预防未成年人犯罪During the 39th Session of the Standing Committee of the 15th Municipal People's Congress(held on February 18),Shanghai adopted the Regulations on the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency in Shanghai.The regulations took effect on March I.The regulations,the first of their kind in Shanghai,were formulated based on recent years.

Chen Lu Rewrites the History of Figure Skating

ON March 11, 1995, 18-year-old Chinese athlete Chen Lu took first place in the women's singles of the World Figure Skating Championship held in Birmingham, Britain. For the first time, the name of a Chinese was recorded on the list of single skating champions.

The director general of UNESCO, Mr. Mayor made a special trip from its general headquarters in Paris to the Great Hall of People in Beijing on March 28, 1993, and issued a certificate putting Wulingyuan in the Book of the Natural

Guizhou Promulgates Anti-Domestic Violence Regulations.To protect residents'(especially women and children's)legal rights and interests,Southwest China's Guizhou Province adopted the Anti-domestic Violence Regulations of Guizhou Province during the I3th Session of the Standing Committee of the 13th Provincial People's Congress,which was held on November 28,2019.The regulations,the first of the kind in a province in western China,took effect on March 1,2020.
