高第出生在一个手工艺人世家--上代和上上代都是铜匠,追溯更古远的祖先,甚至还可以找到铁匠、木匠,遗传基因让高第天生具有良好的空间解构能力与雕塑感觉,我甚至相信高第作为雕塑家是先于他作为建筑师而存在的,因为那些铁片、马赛克、毛石、镜面、碎瓦残陶乃至完整的瓦罐、瓷盘在高第看来都是可雕可塑的,而且他对这些建筑材料施加的技艺并不逊色于那些伟大雕塑家对石头材料施加的技艺.我还相信高第同样是一个出色的音乐家--因为我听到那一块块砖瓦是凝固的音乐,那波浪形的建筑曲线是流动的音乐,那绚烂的颜色是绽放的音乐,一切都是美的旋律.

The architect's gaze: The maintenance of collective professional vision in the work of the architect

Knowledge is something which is essentially embodied and present in the collective practices of seeing, in the professional vision of specific communities of knowledge workers. Architects represent a form of professional and knowledge-intensive work that includes both abstract categories such as style and design (‘form’) and material categories (‘matter’). Thus, professional vision is midway between, but also capable of integrating and co-aligning, abstract/intangible and concrete/material knowledge. Exploring how architects draw on vision and know-how in their day-to-day work, as well as in their engagement with a variety of media at a major Swedish firm of architects, the study suggests that the professional vision of the practicing architect is never fully integrated or coherent but must be subject to constant modifications and joint adjustments.

Chapter 8: AIDS Service Organziations:

AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) adopted a mission that included advocacy for public policy and private service agency response to the AIDS epidemic, prevention education efforts and provision of personal social services to people with AIDS (PWAs). This mission was shaped by stigmatization and marginalization of PWAs, the inadequate response of governments and health and social service agencies, the developing relationship between ASOs and diverse populations, especially communities of color, and by developments in medical research and treatments for HIV disease. ASOs thus emerged as new contexts of helping and as such had to create organizational structures appropriate for the problems faced, arrange for constructive relationships between helpers and those receiving services, and establish and maintain constructive relationships between the ASO and the larger community. Future challenges facing these new contexts of helping are discussed.
