Summary.  The literature on multivariate linear regression includes multivariate normal models, models that are used in survival analysis and a variety of models that are used in other areas such as econometrics. The paper considers the class of location–scale models, which includes a large proportion of the preceding models. It is shown that, for complete data, the maximum likelihood estimators for regression coefficients in a linear location–scale framework are consistent even when the joint distribution is misspecified. In addition, gains in efficiency arising from the use of a bivariate model, as opposed to separate univariate models, are studied. A major area of application for multivariate regression models is to clustered, 'parallel' lifetime data, so we also study the case of censored responses. Estimators of regression coefficients are no longer consistent under model misspecification, but we give simulation results that show that the bias is small in many practical situations. Gains in efficiency from bivariate models are also examined in the censored data setting. The methodology in the paper is illustrated by using lifetime data from the Diabetic Retinopathy Study.  相似文献

Models for analysing incomplete durations obtained from cross-sectional surveys are presented. The aim of the paper is to develop a framework for analysing the incomplete duration of episodes in progress at the time of the survey by formulating generalized linear models and fitting and assessing them by using standard statistical packages. The maximum quasi-likelihood method is used for model fitting. The choice of the distribution and the diagnostic procedures are discussed. Simulated data from two distributions (the Weibull and log-logistic distributions) are used to evaluate the methodology developed and to assess model misspecifications. A data set on the current use of the contraceptive pill from a cross-sectional survey in Egypt is analysed.  相似文献

The cumulative incidence function is of great importance in the analysis of survival data when competing risks are present. Parametric modeling of such functions, which are by nature improper, suggests the use of improper distributions. One frequently used improper distribution is that of Gompertz, which captures only monotone hazard shapes. In some applications, however, subdistribution hazard estimates have been observed with unimodal shapes. An extension to the Gompertz distribution is presented which can capture unimodal as well as monotone hazard shapes. Important properties of the proposed distribution are discussed, and the proposed distribution is used to analyze survival data from a breast cancer clinical trial.  相似文献

Event history models typically assume that the entire population is at risk of experiencing the event of interest throughout the observation period. However, there will often be individuals, referred to as long-term survivors, who may be considered a priori to have a zero hazard throughout the study period. In this paper, a discrete-time mixture model is proposed in which the probability of long-term survivorship and the timing of event occurrence are modelled jointly. Another feature of event history data that often needs to be considered is that they may come from a population with a hierarchical structure. For example, individuals may be nested within geographical regions and individuals in the same region may have similar risks of experiencing the event of interest due to unobserved regional characteristics. Thus, the discrete-time mixture model is extended to allow for clustering in the likelihood and timing of an event within regions. The model is further extended to allow for unobserved individual heterogeneity in the hazard of event occurrence. The proposed model is applied in an analysis of contraceptive sterilization in Bangladesh. The results show that a woman's religion and education level affect her probability of choosing sterilization, but not when she gets sterilized. There is also evidence of community-level variation in sterilization timing, but not in the probability of sterilization.  相似文献

This paper examines strategies for simulating exactly from large Gaussian linear models conditional on some Gaussian observations. Local computation strategies based on the conditional independence structure of the model are developed in order to reduce costs associated with storage and computation. Application of these algorithms to simulation from nested hierarchical linear models is considered, and the construction of efficient MCMC schemes for Bayesian inference in high-dimensional linear models is outlined.  相似文献
