Ifirst met Shi Xiaobo in his studio in Yanjiao. It was still a roughcast house .of three rooms without any decorationand looked a little shabby. There were his recent landscape creations on all the walls, including Bai Haba, which is near his hometown： Tuyugou＇s old villages on the southern slope of the Flaming Mountain. The tableau was profound, ancient and simple, with a sense of silence. It reflected his special emotion to his hometown. Tile beam of sunshine in the painting looked all the same, day after day, for thousands of years, shining till the end of the time on the same scenery with various people passing by. It made me to feel a kind of faint helplessness.
