In this article, the generalized linear model for longitudinal data is studied. A generalized empirical likelihood method is proposed by combining generalized estimating equations and quadratic inference functions based on the working correlation matrix. It is proved that the proposed generalized empirical likelihood ratios are asymptotically chi-squared under some suitable conditions, and hence it can be used to construct the confidence regions of the parameters. In addition, the maximum empirical likelihood estimates of parameters are obtained, and their asymptotic normalities are proved. Some simulations are undertaken to compare the generalized empirical likelihood and normal approximation-based method in terms of coverage accuracies and average areas/lengths of confidence regions/intervals. An example of a real data is used for illustrating our methods.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a semivarying coefficient model with application to longitudinal data. In order to accommodate the within-group correlation, we apply the block empirical likelihood procedure to semivarying coefficient longitudinal data model, and prove a nonparametric version of Wilks' theorem which can be used to construct the block empirical likelihood confidence region with asymptotically correct coverage probability for the parametric component. In comparison with normal approximations, the proposed method does not require a consistent estimator for the asymptotic covariance matrix, making it easier to conduct inference for the model's parametric component. Simulations demonstrate how the proposed method works.  相似文献

In this paper, empirical likelihood inference for longitudinal data within the framework of partial linear regression models are investigated. The proposed procedures take into consideration the correlation within groups without involving direct estimation of nuisance parameters in the correlation matrix. The empirical likelihood method is used to estimate the regression coefficients and the baseline function, and to construct confidence intervals. A nonparametric version of Wilk's theorem for the limiting distribution of the empirical likelihood ratio is derived. Compared with methods based on normal approximations, the empirical likelihood does not require consistent estimators for the asymptotic variance and bias. The finite sample behaviour of the proposed method is evaluated with simulation and illustrated with an AIDS clinical trial data set.  相似文献

We propose a weighted empirical likelihood approach to inference with multiple samples, including stratified sampling, the estimation of a common mean using several independent and non-homogeneous samples and inference on a particular population using other related samples. The weighting scheme and the basic result are motivated and established under stratified sampling. We show that the proposed method can ideally be applied to the common mean problem and problems with related samples. The proposed weighted approach not only provides a unified framework for inference with multiple samples, including two-sample problems, but also facilitates asymptotic derivations and computational methods. A bootstrap procedure is also proposed in conjunction with the weighted approach to provide better coverage probabilities for the weighted empirical likelihood ratio confidence intervals. Simulation studies show that the weighted empirical likelihood confidence intervals perform better than existing ones.  相似文献

We develop two empirical likelihood-based inference procedures for longitudinal data under the framework of quantile regression. The proposed methods avoid estimating the unknown error density function and the intra-subject correlation involved in the asymptotic covariance matrix of the quantile estimators. By appropriately smoothing the quantile score function, the empirical likelihood approach is shown to have a higher-order accuracy through the Bartlett correction. The proposed methods exhibit finite-sample advantages over the normal approximation-based and bootstrap methods in a simulation study and the analysis of a longitudinal ophthalmology data set.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate empirical likelihood (EL) inferences via weighted composite quantile regression for non linear models. Under regularity conditions, we establish that the proposed empirical log-likelihood ratio is asymptotically chi-squared, and then the confidence intervals for the regression coefficients are constructed. The proposed method avoids estimating the unknown error density function involved in the asymptotic covariance matrix of the estimators. Simulations suggest that the proposed EL procedure is more efficient and robust, and a real data analysis is used to illustrate the performance.  相似文献

This paper presents the empirical likelihood inferences for a class of varying-coefficient models with error-prone covariates. We focus on the case that the covariance matrix of the measurement errors is unknown and neither repeated measurements nor validation data are available. We propose an instrumental variable-based empirical likelihood inference method and show that the proposed empirical log-likelihood ratio is asymptotically chi-squared. Then, the confidence intervals for the varying-coefficient functions are constructed. Some simulation studies and a real data application are used to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed empirical likelihood procedure.  相似文献

In this article, we consider statistical inference for longitudinal partial linear models when the response variable is sometimes missing with missingness probability depending on the covariate that is measured with error. A generalized empirical likelihood (GEL) method is proposed by combining correction attenuation and quadratic inference functions. The method that takes into consideration the correlation within groups is used to estimate the regression coefficients. Furthermore, residual-adjusted empirical likelihood (EL) is employed for estimating the baseline function so that undersmoothing is avoided. The empirical log-likelihood ratios are proven to be asymptotically Chi-squared, and the corresponding confidence regions for the parameters of interest are then constructed. Compared with methods based on NAs, the GEL does not require consistent estimators for the asymptotic variance and bias. The numerical study is conducted to compare the performance of the EL and the normal approximation-based method, and a real example is analysed.  相似文献

The author proposes to use weighted likelihood to approximate Bayesian inference when no external or prior information is available. He proposes a weighted likelihood estimator that minimizes the empirical Bayes risk under relative entropy loss. He discusses connections among the weighted likelihood, empirical Bayes and James‐Stein estimators. Both simulated and real data sets are used for illustration purposes.  相似文献

We investigate empirical likelihood for the additive hazards model with current status data. An empirical log-likelihood ratio for a vector or subvector of regression parameters is defined and its limiting distribution is shown to be a standard chi-squared distribution. The proposed inference procedure enables us to make empirical likelihood-based inference for the regression parameters. Finite sample performance of the proposed method is assessed in simulation studies to compare with that of a normal approximation method, it shows that the empirical likelihood method provides more accurate inference than the normal approximation method. A real data example is used for illustration.  相似文献

This paper develops a novel weighted composite quantile regression (CQR) method for estimation of a linear model when some covariates are missing at random and the probability for missingness mechanism can be modelled parametrically. By incorporating the unbiased estimating equations of incomplete data into empirical likelihood (EL), we obtain the EL-based weights, and then re-adjust the inverse probability weighted CQR for estimating the vector of regression coefficients. Theoretical results show that the proposed method can achieve semiparametric efficiency if the selection probability function is correctly specified, therefore the EL weighted CQR is more efficient than the inverse probability weighted CQR. Besides, our algorithm is computationally simple and easy to implement. Simulation studies are conducted to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed procedures. Finally, we apply the new method to analyse the US news College data.  相似文献

In the longitudinal studies, the mixture generalized estimation equation (mix-GEE) was proposed to improve the efficiency of the fixed-effects estimator for addressing the working correlation structure misspecification. When the subject-specific effect is one of interests, mixed-effects models were widely used to analyze longitudinal data. However, most of the existing approaches assume a normal distribution for the random effects, and this could affect the efficiency of the fixed-effects estimator. In this article, a conditional mixture generalized estimating equation (cmix-GEE) approach based on the advantage of mix-GEE and conditional quadratic inference function (CQIF) method is developed. The advantage of our new approach is that it does not require the normality assumption for random effects and can accommodate the serial correlation between observations within the same cluster. The feature of our proposed approach is that the estimators of the regression parameters are more efficient than CQIF even if the working correlation structure is not correctly specified. In addition, according to the estimates of some mixture proportions, the true working correlation matrix can be identified. We establish the asymptotic results for the fixed-effects parameter estimators. Simulation studies were conducted to evaluate our proposed method.  相似文献

The weighted likelihood is a generalization of the likelihood designed to borrow strength from similar populations while making minimal assumptions. If the weights are properly chosen, the maximum weighted likelihood estimate may perform better than the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE). In a previous article, the minimum averaged mean squared error (MAMSE) weights are proposed and simulations show that they allow to outperform the MLE in many cases. In this paper, we study the asymptotic properties of the MAMSE weights. In particular, we prove that the MAMSE-weighted mixture of empirical distribution functions converges uniformly to the target distribution and that the maximum weighted likelihood estimate is strongly consistent. A short simulation illustrates the use of bootstrap in this context.  相似文献

Efficient statistical inference on nonignorable missing data is a challenging problem. This paper proposes a new estimation procedure based on composite quantile regression (CQR) for linear regression models with nonignorable missing data, that is applicable even with high-dimensional covariates. A parametric model is assumed for modelling response probability, which is estimated by the empirical likelihood approach. Local identifiability of the proposed strategy is guaranteed on the basis of an instrumental variable approach. A set of data-based adaptive weights constructed via an empirical likelihood method is used to weight CQR functions. The proposed method is resistant to heavy-tailed errors or outliers in the response. An adaptive penalisation method for variable selection is proposed to achieve sparsity with high-dimensional covariates. Limiting distributions of the proposed estimators are derived. Simulation studies are conducted to investigate the finite sample performance of the proposed methodologies. An application to the ACTG 175 data is analysed.  相似文献

In this article, we apply the empirical likelihood method to make inference on the bivariate survival function of paired failure times by estimating the survival function of censored time with the Kaplan–Meier estimator. Adjusted empirical likelihood (AEL) confidence intervals for the bivariate survival function are developed. We conduct a simulation study to compare the proposed AEL method with other methods. The simulation study shows the proposed AEL method has better performance than other existing methods. We illustrate the proposed method by analyzing the skin graft data.  相似文献

This article is concerned with statistical inference of the partial linear isotonic regression model missing response and measurement errors in covariates. We proposed an empirical likelihood ratio test statistics and show that it has a limiting weighted chi-square distribution. An adjusted empirical likelihood ratio statistic, which is shown to have a limiting standard central chi-square distribution, is then proposed further. A maximum empirical likelihood estimator is also developed. A simulation study is conducted to examine the finite-sample property of proposed procedure.  相似文献

A Bayesian elastic net approach is presented for variable selection and coefficient estimation in linear regression models. A simple Gibbs sampling algorithm was developed for posterior inference using a location-scale mixture representation of the Bayesian elastic net prior for the regression coefficients. The penalty parameters are chosen through an empirical method that maximizes the data marginal likelihood. Both simulated and real data examples show that the proposed method performs well in comparison to the other approaches.  相似文献

In this paper, empirical likelihood inference in mixture of semiparametric varying-coefficient models for longitudinal data with non-ignorable dropout is investigated. We estimate the non-parametric function based on the estimating equations and the local linear profile-kernel method. An empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for parametric components is proposed to construct confidence regions and is shown to be an asymptotically chi-squared distribution. The non-parametric version of Wilk's theorem is also derived. A simulation study is undertaken to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

We implement profile empirical likelihood-based inference for censored median regression models. Inference for any specified subvector is carried out by profiling out the nuisance parameters from the “plug-in” empirical likelihood ratio function proposed by Qin and Tsao. To obtain the critical value of the profile empirical likelihood ratio statistic, we first investigate its asymptotic distribution. The limiting distribution is a sum of weighted chi square distributions. Unlike for the full empirical likelihood, however, the derived asymptotic distribution has intractable covariance structure. Therefore, we employ the bootstrap to obtain the critical value, and compare the resulting confidence intervals with the ones obtained through Basawa and Koul’s minimum dispersion statistic. Furthermore, we obtain confidence intervals for the age and treatment effects in a lung cancer data set.  相似文献

The kth ( 1<k 2) power expectile regression (ER) can balance robustness and effectiveness between the ordinary quantile regression and ER simultaneously. Motivated by a longitudinal ACTG 193A data with nonignorable dropouts, we propose a two-stage estimation procedure and statistical inference methods based on the kth power ER and empirical likelihood to accommodate both the within-subject correlations and nonignorable dropouts. Firstly, we construct the bias-corrected generalized estimating equations by combining the kth power ER and inverse probability weighting approaches. Subsequently, the generalized method of moments is utilized to estimate the parameters in the nonignorable dropout propensity based on sufficient instrumental estimating equations. Secondly, in order to incorporate the within-subject correlations under an informative working correlation structure, we borrow the idea of quadratic inference function to obtain the improved empirical likelihood procedures. The asymptotic properties of the corresponding estimators and their confidence regions are derived. The finite-sample performance of the proposed estimators is studied through simulation and an application to the ACTG 193A data is also presented.  相似文献
