In this study, the empirical likelihood method is applied to the partially linear varying-coefficient model in which some covariates are measured with additive errors and the response variable is sometimes missing. Based on the correction-for-attenuation technique, we define an empirical likelihood-based statistic for the parametric component and show that its limiting distribution is chi-square distribution. The confidence regions of the parameters are constructed accordingly. Furthermore, a simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

This paper considers statistical inference for the partially linear additive models, which are useful extensions of additive models and partially linear models. We focus on the case where some covariates are measured with additive errors, and the response variable is sometimes missing. We propose a profile least-squares estimator for the parametric component and show that the resulting estimator is asymptotically normal. To construct a confidence region for the parametric component, we also propose an empirical-likelihood-based statistic, which is shown to have a chi-squared distribution asymptotically. Furthermore, a simulation study is conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed methods.  相似文献

Abstract. In this paper, two non‐parametric estimators are proposed for estimating the components of an additive quantile regression model. The first estimator is a computationally convenient approach which can be viewed as a more viable alternative to existing kernel‐based approaches. The second estimator involves sequential fitting by univariate local polynomial quantile regressions for each additive component with the other additive components replaced by the corresponding estimates from the first estimator. The purpose of the extra local averaging is to reduce the variance of the first estimator. We show that the second estimator achieves oracle efficiency in the sense that each estimated additive component has the same variance as in the case when all other additive components were known. Asymptotic properties are derived for both estimators under dependent processes that are strictly stationary and absolutely regular. We also provide a demonstrative empirical application of additive quantile models to ambulance travel times.  相似文献

In this article, empirical likelihood inferences for the varying coefficient partially nonlinear models are investigated. An empirical log-likelihood ratio function for the unknown parameter vector in the nonlinear function part and a residual-adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio function for the nonparametric component are proposed. The corresponding Wilks phenomena are proved and the confidence regions for parametric component and nonparametric component are constructed. Simulation studies indicate that, in terms of coverage probabilities and average areas of the confidence regions, the empirical likelihood method performs better than the normal approximation-based method. Furthermore, a real data set application is also provided to illustrate the proposed empirical likelihood estimation technique.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a semivarying coefficient model with application to longitudinal data. In order to accommodate the within-group correlation, we apply the block empirical likelihood procedure to semivarying coefficient longitudinal data model, and prove a nonparametric version of Wilks' theorem which can be used to construct the block empirical likelihood confidence region with asymptotically correct coverage probability for the parametric component. In comparison with normal approximations, the proposed method does not require a consistent estimator for the asymptotic covariance matrix, making it easier to conduct inference for the model's parametric component. Simulations demonstrate how the proposed method works.  相似文献

Partially linear additive model is useful in statistical modelling as a multivariate nonparametric fitting technique. This paper considers statistical inference for the semiparametric model in the presence of multicollinearity. Based on the profile least-squares (PL) approach and Liu estimation method, we propose a PL Liu estimator for the parametric component. When some additional linear restrictions on the parametric component are available, the corresponding restricted Liu estimator for the parametric component is constructed. The properties of the proposed estimators are derived. Some simulations are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed procedures and the results are satisfactory. Finally, a real data example is analysed.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the estimation of partially linear additive quantile regression models where the conditional quantile function comprises a linear parametric component and a nonparametric additive component. We propose a two-step estimation approach: in the first step, we approximate the conditional quantile function using a series estimation method. In the second step, the nonparametric additive component is recovered using either a local polynomial estimator or a weighted Nadaraya–Watson estimator. Both consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators are established. Particularly, we show that the first-stage estimator for the finite-dimensional parameters attains the semiparametric efficiency bound under homoskedasticity, and that the second-stage estimators for the nonparametric additive component have an oracle efficiency property. Monte Carlo experiments are conducted to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed estimators. An application to a real data set is also illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper, semiparametric modelling for longitudinal data with an unstructured error process is considered. We propose a partially linear additive regression model for longitudinal data in which within-subject variances and covariances of the error process are described by unknown univariate and bivariate functions, respectively. We provide an estimating approach in which polynomial splines are used to approximate the additive nonparametric components and the within-subject variance and covariance functions are estimated nonparametrically. Both the asymptotic normality of the resulting parametric component estimators and optimal convergence rate of the resulting nonparametric component estimators are established. In addition, we develop a variable selection procedure to identify significant parametric and nonparametric components simultaneously. We show that the proposed SCAD penalty-based estimators of non-zero components have an oracle property. Some simulation studies are conducted to examine the finite-sample performance of the proposed estimation and variable selection procedures. A real data set is also analysed to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method.  相似文献

M-estimation is a widely used method for robust statistical inference. In this article, using a B-spline series approximation with a double smoothly clipped absolute deviation penalization, we solve the problem of simultaneous variable selection and parametric component identification in a non parametric additive model. The theoretical properties of the double non concave penalized M-estimation are established. The proposed approach is resistant to heavy-tailed errors or outliers in the responses. Simulation studies for finite-sample cases are conducted and a real dataset is also analyzed for illustration of this new approach.  相似文献

This article considers statistical inference for partially linear varying-coefficient models when the responses are missing at random. We propose a profile least-squares estimator for the parametric component with complete-case data and show that the resulting estimator is asymptotically normal. To avoid to estimate the asymptotic covariance in establishing confidence region of the parametric component with the normal-approximation method, we define an empirical likelihood based statistic and show that its limiting distribution is chi-squared distribution. Then, the confidence regions of the parametric component with asymptotically correct coverage probabilities can be constructed by the result. To check the validity of the linear constraints on the parametric component, we construct a modified generalized likelihood ratio test statistic and demonstrate that it follows asymptotically chi-squared distribution under the null hypothesis. Then, we extend the generalized likelihood ratio technique to the context of missing data. Finally, some simulations are conducted to illustrate the proposed methods.  相似文献

Abstract. Similar to variable selection in the linear model, selecting significant components in the additive model is of great interest. However, such components are unknown, unobservable functions of independent variables. Some approximation is needed. We suggest a combination of penalized regression spline approximation and group variable selection, called the group‐bridge‐type spline method (GBSM), to handle this component selection problem with a diverging number of correlated variables in each group. The proposed method can select significant components and estimate non‐parametric additive function components simultaneously. To make the GBSM stable in computation and adaptive to the level of smoothness of the component functions, weighted power spline bases and projected weighted power spline bases are proposed. Their performance is examined by simulation studies. The proposed method is extended to a partial linear regression model analysis with real data, and gives reliable results.  相似文献

Sizer Map is proposed as a graphical tool for assistance in nonparametric additive regression testing problems. Four problems have been analyzed by using SiZer Map: testing for additivity, testing the components significance, testing parametric models for the components and testing for interactions. The simplicity and flexibility of SiZer Map for our purposes are highlighted from the performed empirical study with several real datasets. With these data, we compare the conclusions derived from SiZer analysis with the global results derived from standard tests, previously proposed in the literature.  相似文献

As a compromise between parametric regression and nonparametric regression, partially linear models are frequently used in statistical modelling. This article considers statistical inference for this semiparametric model when the linear covariate is measured with additive error and some additional linear restrictions on the parametric component are assumed to hold. We propose a restricted corrected profile least-squares estimator for the parametric component, and study the asymptotic normality of the estimator. To test hypothesis on the parametric component, we construct a Wald test statistic and obtain its limiting distribution. Some simulation studies are conducted to illustrate our approaches.  相似文献

Abstract

Semi-functional linear regression models are important in practice. In this paper, their estimation is discussed when function-valued and real-valued random variables are all measured with additive error. By means of functional principal component analysis and kernel smoothing techniques, the estimators of the slope function and the non parametric component are obtained. To account for errors in variables, deconvolution is involved in the construction of a new class of kernel estimators. The convergence rates of the estimators of the unknown slope function and non parametric component are established under suitable norm and conditions. Simulation studies are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of our method.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider partially linear additive models with an unknown link function, which include single‐index models and additive models as special cases. We use polynomial spline method for estimating the unknown link function as well as the component functions in the additive part. We establish that convergence rates for all nonparametric functions are the same as in one‐dimensional nonparametric regression. For a faster rate of the parametric part, we need to define appropriate ‘projection’ that is more complicated than that defined previously for partially linear additive models. Compared to previous approaches, a distinct advantage of our estimation approach in implementation is that estimation directly reduces estimation in the single‐index model and can thus deal with much larger dimensional problems than previous approaches for additive models with unknown link functions. Simulations and a real dataset are used to illustrate the proposed model.  相似文献

Empirical likelihood inferences for the parameter component in an additive partially linear errors-in-variables model with longitudinal data are investigated in this article. A corrected-attenuation block empirical likelihood procedure is used to estimate the regression coefficients, a corrected-attenuation block empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic is suggested and its asymptotic distribution is obtained. Compared with the method based on normal approximations, our proposed method does not require any consistent estimator for the asymptotic variance and bias. Simulation studies indicate that our proposed method performs better than the method based on normal approximations in terms of relatively higher coverage probabilities and smaller confidence regions. Furthermore, an example of an air pollution and health data set is used to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the statistical inference for the varying-coefficient partially nonlinear model with additive measurement errors in the nonparametric part. The local bias-corrected profile nonlinear least-squares estimation procedure for parameter in nonlinear function and nonparametric function is proposed. Then, the asymptotic normality properties of the resulting estimators are established. With the empirical likelihood method, a local bias-corrected empirical log-likelihood ratio statistic for the unknown parameter, and a corrected and residual adjusted empirical log-likelihood ratio for the nonparametric component are constructed. It is shown that the resulting statistics are asymptotically chi-square distribution under some suitable conditions. Some simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods. The results indicate that the empirical likelihood method is superior to the profile nonlinear least-squares method in terms of the confidence regions of parameter and point-wise confidence intervals of nonparametric function.  相似文献

Generalized partially linear varying-coefficient models (GPLVCM) are frequently used in statistical modeling. However, the statistical inference of the GPLVCM, such as confidence region/interval construction, has not been very well developed. In this article, empirical likelihood-based inference for the parametric components in the GPLVCM is investigated. Based on the local linear estimators of the GPLVCM, an estimated empirical likelihood-based statistic is proposed. We show that the resulting statistic is asymptotically non-standard chi-squared. By the proposed empirical likelihood method, the confidence regions for the parametric components are constructed. In addition, when some components of the parameter are of particular interest, the construction of their confidence intervals is also considered. A simulation study is undertaken to compare the empirical likelihood and the other existing methods in terms of coverage accuracies and average lengths. The proposed method is applied to a real example.  相似文献

As a useful extension of partially linear models and varying coefficient models, the partially linear varying coefficient model is useful in statistical modelling. This paper considers statistical inference for the semiparametric model when the covariates in the linear part are measured with additive error and some additional linear restrictions on the parametric component are available. We propose a restricted modified profile least-squares estimator for the parametric component, and prove the asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. To test hypotheses on the parametric component, we propose a test statistic based on the difference between the corrected residual sums of squares under the null and alterative hypotheses, and show that its limiting distribution is a weighted sum of independent chi-square distributions. We also develop an adjusted test statistic, which has an asymptotically standard chi-squared distribution. Some simulation studies are conducted to illustrate our approaches.
