Multiple Window Discrete Scan Statistics   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this article, multiple scan statistics of variable window sizes are derived for independent and identically distributed 0-1 Bernoulli trials. Both one and two dimensional, as well as, conditional and unconditional cases are treated. The advantage in using multiple scan statistics, as opposed to single fixed window scan statistics, is that they are more sensitive in detecting a change in the underlying distribution of the observed data. We show how to derive simple approximations for the significance level of these testing procedures and present numerical results to evaluate their performance.  相似文献

In the context of time-sequential studies, progressively censored tests for a simple regression model based on weighted empirical distributions are considered for ungrouped as well as grouped data situations. Early decision rules based on such tests are formulated. The asymptotic theory of the proposed tests rests on a construction of suitable empirical processes and their convergence (in distribution) to appropriate Gaussian functions. Critical values of the proposed test statistics are obtained by simulation, For a hypothetical example (of practical interest), a comparative study is made for the empirical powers and stopping times for some rival tests.  相似文献

Outlier detection is a major topic in robust statistics due to the high practical significance of anomalous observations. Many existing methods, however, either are parametric or cease to perform well when the data are far from linearly structured. In this paper, we propose a quantity, Delaunay outlyingness, that is a nonparametric outlyingness score applicable to data with complicated structure. The approach is based on a well‐known triangulation of the sample, which seems to reflect the sparsity of the pointset to different directions in a useful way. We derive results on the asymptotic behavior of Delaunay outlyingness in case of a sufficiently simple set of observations. Simulations and an application to empirical data are also discussed.  相似文献

The author introduces new statistics suited for testing uniformity of circular distributions and powerful against multimodal alternatives. One of them has a simple expression in terms of the geometric mean of the sample of chord lengths. The others belong to a family indexed by a continuous parameter. The asymptotic distributions under the null hypothesis are derived. We compare the power of the new tests against Stephens's alternatives with those of Ajne, Watson, and Hermans‐Rasson's tests. Some of the new tests are the most powerful when the alternative has three or four modes. A heuristic justification of this feature is given. An application to the analysis of archaeological data is provided. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 38:80–96; 2010 © 2010 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

This paper deals with a class of nonparametric two-sample tests for ordered alternatives. The test statistics proposed are based on the number of observations from one sample that precede or exceed a threshold specified by the other sample, and they are extensions of ?idák's test. We derive their exact null distributions and also discuss a large-sample approximation. We then study their power properties exactly against the Lehmann alternative and make some comparative comments. Finally, we present an example to illustrate the proposed tests.  相似文献

We consider simple approximations of variances and covariances for order statistics from the standard extreme value distribution. Exact values and simulation results of the variances and covariances for certain sample sizes are used to determine the validity of the suggested approximations.  相似文献

In this article, two different types of precedence tests, each with two different test statistics, based on ranked set samples for testing the equality of two distributions are discussed. The exact null distributions of proposed test statistics are derived, critical values are tabulated for both set size and number of cycles up to 8, and the exact power functions of these two types of precedence tests under the Lehmann alternative are derived. Then, the power values of these two test procedures and their competitors based on simple random samples and based on ranked set samples are compared under the Lehmann alternative exactly and also under a location-shift alternative by means of Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, the impact of imperfect ranking is discussed and some concluding remarks are presented.  相似文献

We introduce a uniform generalized order statistic process. It is a simple Markov process whose initial segment can be identified with a set of uniform generalized order statistics. A standard marginal transformation leads to a generalized order statistic process related to non-uniform generalized order statistics. It is then demonstrated that the nth variable in such a process has the same distribution as an nth Pfeifer record value. This process representation of Pfeifer records facilitates discussion of the possible limit laws for Pfeifer records and, in some cases, of sums thereof. Because of the close relationship between Pfeifer records and generalized order statistics, the results shed some light on the problem of determining the nature of the possible limiting distributions of the largest generalized order statistic.  相似文献

We consider here a class of test statistics based on exceeding observations and develop exceedance-type tests for the two-sample hypothesis testing problem. The exact distribution of the statistics are derived under the null hypothesis as well as under the Lehmann alternative, and then a comparative power study is carried out.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the generalized exponential distribution (GED) with shape parameter α. We establish several recurrence relations satisfied by the single and the product moments for order statistics from the GED. The relationships can be written in terms of polygamma and hypergeometric functions and used in a simple recursive manner in order to compute the single and the product moments of all order statistics for all sample sizes.  相似文献

This paper proposes novel tests for the absence of jumps in a univariate semimartingale and for the absence of common jumps in a bivariate semimartingale. Our methods rely on ratio statistics of power variations based on irregular observations, sampled at different frequencies. We develop central limit theorems for the statistics under the respective null hypotheses and apply bootstrap procedures to assess the limiting distributions. Furthermore, we define corrected statistics to improve the finite sample performance. Simulations show that the test based on our corrected statistic yields good results and even outperforms existing tests in the case of regular observations.  相似文献

McKeague and Sasieni [A partly parametric additive risk model. Biometrika 81 (1994) 501] propose a restriction of Aalen’s additive risk model by the additional hypothesis that some of the covariates have time-independent influence on the intensity of the observed counting process. We introduce goodness-of-fit tests for this semiparametric Aalen model. The asymptotic distribution properties of the test statistics are derived by means of martingale techniques. The tests can be adjusted to detect particular alternatives. As one of the most important alternatives we consider Cox’s proportional hazards model. We present simulation studies and an application to a real data set.  相似文献

We introduce a family of Rényi statistics of orders r?∈?R for testing composite hypotheses in general exponential models, as alternatives to the previously considered generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) statistic and generalized Wald statistic. If appropriately normalized exponential models converge in a specific sense when the sample size (observation window) tends to infinity, and if the hypothesis is regular, then these statistics are shown to be χ2-distributed under the hypothesis. The corresponding Rényi tests are shown to be consistent. The exact sizes and powers of asymptotically α-size Rényi, GLR and generalized Wald tests are evaluated for a concrete hypothesis about a bivariate Lévy process and moderate observation windows. In this concrete situation the exact sizes of the Rényi test of the order r?=?2 practically coincide with those of the GLR and generalized Wald tests but the exact powers of the Rényi test are on average somewhat better.  相似文献

We propose nonparametric homogeneity tests for related samples against much wider than location (or scale) class of alternatives including possible crossings of marginal cumulative distribution functions. The tests can be used in the case of complete and censored samples. Asymptotic distribution of the test statistics is investigated.  相似文献

On Goodness-of-Fit Tests for Aalen's Additive Risk Model   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Abstract.  In this paper we propose goodness-of-fit tests for Aalen's additive risk model. They are based on test statistics the asymptotic distributions of which are determined under both the null and alternative hypotheses. The results are derived using martingale techniques for counting processes. An important feature of these tests is that they can be adjusted to particular alternatives. One of the alternatives we consider is Cox's multiplicative risk model. It is perhaps remarkable that such a test needs no estimate of the baseline hazard in the Cox model. We present simulation studies which give an impression of the performance of the proposed tests. In addition, the tests are applied to real data sets.  相似文献

We consider a model when a process involving the production of elements is under inspection. The elements have possible failures due to competing risks. We assume the availability of a data set of failure times, D1, obtained when the process is under control. Our main goal is to test if the failure rates in D1 are equal to or less than the failure rates in another data set D2, against "undesirable" neighbouring alternatives. A class of tests based on a two-dimensional vector statistic is obtained. Linear test statistics with weight functions giving optimal local asymptotic power are derived. Martingale techniques are used. An example illustrates the derivation of reasonable tests  相似文献

For location–scale families, we consider a random distance between the sample order statistics and the quasi sample order statistics derived from the null distribution as a measure of discrepancy. The conditional qth quantile and expectation of the random discrepancy on the given sample are chosen as test statistics. Simulation results of powers against various alternatives are illustrated under the normal and exponential hypotheses for moderate sample size. The proposed tests, especially the qth quantile tests with a small or large q, are shown to be more powerful than other prominent goodness-of-fit tests in most cases.  相似文献

We present simple matrix formulae for corrected score statistics in symmetric nonlinear regression models. The corrected score statistics follow more closely a χ 2 distribution than the classical score statistic. Our simulation results indicate that the corrected score tests display smaller size distortions than the original score test. We also compare the sizes and the powers of the corrected score tests with bootstrap-based score tests.  相似文献

It is well known that, when sample observations are independent, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve corresponds to the Wilcoxon statistics if the area is calculated by the trapezoidal rule. Correlated ROC curves arise often in medical research and have been studied by various parametric methods. On the basis of the Mann–Whitney U-statistics for clustered data proposed by Rosner and Grove, we construct an average ROC curve and derive nonparametric methods to estimate the area under the average curve for correlated ROC curves obtained from multiple readers. For the more complicated case where, in addition to multiple readers examining results on the same set of individuals, two or more diagnostic tests are involved, we derive analytic methods to compare the areas under correlated average ROC curves for these diagnostic tests. We demonstrate our methods in an example and compare our results with those obtained by other methods. The nonparametric average ROC curve and the analytic methods that we propose are easy to explain and simple to implement.  相似文献
