We investigate the asymptotic behaviour of binned kernel density estimators for dependent and locally non-stationary random fields converging to stationary random fields. We focus on the study of the bias and the asymptotic normality of the estimators. A simulation experiment conducted shows that both the kernel density estimator and the binned kernel density estimator have the same behavior and both estimate accurately the true density when the number of fields increases. We apply our results to the 2002 incidence rates of tuberculosis in the departments of France.  相似文献

We consider the nonparametric estimation of the regression functions for dependent data. Suppose that the covariates are observed with additive errors in the data and we employ nonparametric deconvolution kernel techniques to estimate the regression functions in this paper. We investigate how the strength of time dependence affects the asymptotic properties of the local constant and linear estimators. We treat both short-range dependent and long-range dependent linear processes in a unified way and demonstrate that the long-range dependence (LRD) of the covariates affects the asymptotic properties of the nonparametric estimators as well as the LRD of regression errors does.  相似文献

In this paper we study the estimation of the spatial long memory parameter for stationary long range dependent random fields using wavelet methods. We first show the relation between the wavelet coefficients of the random fields and its long memory parameter. Based on this relation, we construct a log-regression wavelet estimator of the long memory parameter. Under some mild regularity assumptions, the asymptotic properties of the estimators are investigated. Finally, a small simulation study illustrates the method.  相似文献

Abstract.  For stationary vector-valued random fields on     the asymptotic covariance matrix for estimators of the mean vector can be given by integrated covariance functions. To construct asymptotic confidence intervals and significance tests for the mean vector, non-parametric estimators of these integrated covariance functions are required. Integrability conditions are derived under which the estimators of the covariance matrix are mean-square consistent. For random fields induced by stationary Boolean models with convex grains, these conditions are expressed by sufficient assumptions on the grain distribution. Performance issues are discussed by means of numerical examples for Gaussian random fields and the intrinsic volume densities of planar Boolean models with uniformly bounded grains.  相似文献

In the application of the linear regression model there continues to be wide-spread use of the Least Squares Estimator (LSE) due to its theoretical optimality. For example, it is well known that the LSE is the best unbiased estimator under normality while it remains best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) when the normality assumption is dropped. In this paper we extend an approach given in Knautz (1993) that allows improvement of the LSE in the context of nonnormal and nonsymmetric error distributions. It will be shown that there exist linear plus quadratic (LPQ) estimators, consisting of linear and quadratic terms in the dependent variable, which dominate the LS estimator, depending on second, third and fourth moments of the error distribution. A simulation study illustrates that this remains true if the moments have to be estimated from the data. Computation of confidence intervals using bootstrap methods reveal significant improvement compared with inference based on the LS especially for nonsymmetric distributions of the error term.  相似文献

A computational problem in many fields is to estimate simultaneously multiple integrals and expectations, assuming that the data are generated by some Monte Carlo algorithm. Consider two scenarios in which draws are simulated from multiple distributions but the normalizing constants of those distributions may be known or unknown. For each scenario, existing estimators can be classified as using individual samples separately or using all the samples jointly. The latter pooled‐sample estimators are statistically more efficient but computationally more costly to evaluate than the separate‐sample estimators. We develop a cluster‐sample approach to obtain computationally effective estimators, after draws are generated for each scenario. We divide all the samples into mutually exclusive clusters and combine samples from each cluster separately. Furthermore, we exploit a relationship between estimators based on samples from different clusters to achieve variance reduction. The resulting estimators, compared with the pooled‐sample estimators, typically yield similar statistical efficiency but have reduced computational cost. We illustrate the value of the new approach by two examples for an Ising model and a censored Gaussian random field. This paper presents the results on consistency and asymptotic normality of a class of minimum contrast estimators for random processes with short- or long-range dependence based on the second- and third-order cumulant spectra. Asymptotic properties of sample spectral functionals of second and third orders, which are of independent interest in view of their possible use for nonparametric estimation of processes with short- or long-range dependence, are also provided.  相似文献

In the present paper we mean by weak and fuzzy prior knowledge that we can specify some function of a certain quadratic form of the unknown parameters of the setup, which function is derived from common prior information concerning the unknown response surface. A test for choosing between a linear admissible estimator and the least squares estimator (LSE) is developed. A characterization of linear admissible estimators useful for comparing estimators is presented and necessary and sufficient conditions for superiority of a linear admissible estimator over the LS estimetor is derived for the test. The test is based on the MSE matrix superiority, but also new resl?!ts concerning covariance matrix comparisons of linear estimators are derived. In this paper, we consider a semiparametric regression model under long-range dependent errors. By approximating the nonparametric component by a finite series sum, we construct consistent estimators for both parametric and nonparametric components. Meanwhile, convergence rates for the consistent estimators are also investigated. Additionally, an optimal truncation parameter selection procedure is proposed.  相似文献

Abstract

Several approximations of copulas have been proposed in the literature. By using empirical versions of checker-type copulas approximations, we propose non parametric estimators of the copula. Under some conditions, the proposed estimators are copulas and their main advantage is that they can be sampled from easily. One possible application is the estimation of quantiles of sums of dependent random variables from a small sample of the multivariate law and a full knowledge of the marginal laws. We show that estimations may be improved by including in an easy way in the approximated copula some additional information on the law of a sub-vector for example. Our approach is illustrated by numerical examples.  相似文献

A frequency domain bootstrap (FDB) is a common technique to apply Efron’s independent and identically distributed resampling technique (Efron, 1979) to periodogram ordinates – especially normalized periodogram ordinates – by using spectral density estimates. The FDB method is applicable to several classes of statistics, such as estimators of the normalized spectral mean, the autocorrelation (but not autocovariance), the normalized spectral density function, and Whittle parameters. While this FDB method has been extensively studied with respect to short-range dependent time processes, there is a dearth of research on its use with long-range dependent time processes. Therefore, we propose an FDB methodology for ratio statistics under long-range dependence, using semi- and nonparametric spectral density estimates as a normalizing factor. It is shown that the FDB approximation allows for valid distribution estimation for a broad class of stationary, long-range (or short-range) dependent linear processes, without any stringent assumptions on the distribution of the underlying process. The results of a large simulation study show that the FDB approximation using a semi- or nonparametric spectral density estimator is often robust for various values of a long-memory parameter reflecting magnitude of dependence. We apply the proposed procedure to two data examples.  相似文献

In this note we consider certain measure of location-based estimators (MLBEs) for the slope parameter in a linear regression model with a single stochastic regressor. The median-unbiased MLBEs are interesting as they can be robust to heavy-tailed samples and, hence, preferable to the ordinary least squares estimator (LSE). Two different cases are considered as we investigate the statistical properties of the MLBEs. In the first case, the regressor and error is assumed to follow a symmetric stable distribution. In the second, other types of regressions, with potentially contaminated errors, are considered. For both cases the consistency and exact finite-sample distributions of the MLBEs are established. Some results for the corresponding limiting distributions are also provided. In addition, we illustrate how our results can be extended to include certain heteroskedastic and multiple regressions. Finite-sample properties of the MLBEs in comparison to the LSE are investigated in a simulation study.  相似文献

Discrete lifetime data are very common in engineering and medical researches. In many cases the lifetime is censored at a random or predetermined time and we do not know the complete survival time. There are many situations that the lifetime variable could be dependent on the time of censoring. In this paper we propose the dependent right censoring scheme in discrete setup when the lifetime and censoring variables have a bivariate geometric distribution. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters with their risks in closed forms. The Bayes estimators as well as the constrained Bayes estimates of the unknown parameters under the squared error loss function are also obtained. We considered an extension to the case where covariates are present along with the data. Finally we provided a simulation study and an illustrative example with a real data.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and study a general class of Gaussian semiparametric estimators (GSE) of the fractional differencing parameter in the context of long-range dependent multivariate time series. We establish large sample properties of the estimator without assuming Gaussianity. The class of models considered here satisfies simple conditions on the spectral density function, restricted to a small neighbourhood of the zero frequency and includes important class of vector autoregressive fractionally integrated moving average processes. We also present a simulation study to assess the finite sample properties of the proposed estimator based on a smoothed version of the GSE which supports its competitiveness.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of empirical processes when parameters are estimated, assuming that the underlying sequence of random variables is long-range dependent. We show completely different phenomena compared to i.i.d. situation, as well as compared to ordinary empirical processes of long-range dependent sequences. Applications include Kolmogorov–Smirnov and Cramer–Smirnov–von Mises goodness-of-fit statistics.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the right random censoring scheme in a discrete setup when the lifetime and censoring variables are independent and have geometric distributions with means 1/θ1 and 1/θ2, respectively. We first obtain the Maximum Likelihood and Method of Moment estimators of the unknown parameters. We also find the Bayes and Posterior Regret Gamma Minimax estimators of the parameters for the two cases when the prior distributions are dependent and independent, assuming a squared error loss function. We then discuss the Proportional Hazard model, and obtain Maximum Likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters and derive the Bayes estimators assuming squared error loss using Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.  相似文献

We establish the existence of multivariate stationary processes with arbitrary marginal copula distributions and long-range dependence. The effect of long-range dependence on extreme value copula estimation is illustrated in the case of known marginals, by deriving functional limit theorems for a standard non parametric estimator of the Pickands dependence function and related parametric projection estimators. The asymptotic properties turn out to be very different from the case of iid or short-range dependent observations. Simulated and real data examples illustrate the results.  相似文献
