In this paper, by considering a (3n+1) -dimensional random vector (X0, XT, YT, ZT)T having a multivariate elliptical distribution, we derive the exact joint distribution of (X0, aTX(n), bTY[n], cTZ[n])T, where a, b, c∈?n, X(n)=(X(1), …, X(n))T, X(1)<···<X(n), is the vector of order statistics arising from X, and Y[n]=(Y[1], …, Y[n])T and Z[n]=(Z[1], …, Z[n])T denote the vectors of concomitants corresponding to X(n) ((Y[r], Z[r])T, for r=1, …, n, is the vector of bivariate concomitants corresponding to X(r)). We then present an alternate approach for the derivation of the exact joint distribution of (X0, X(r), Y[r], Z[r])T, for r=1, …, n. We show that these joint distributions can be expressed as mixtures of four-variate unified skew-elliptical distributions and these mixture forms facilitate the prediction of X(r), say, based on the concomitants Y[r] and Z[r]. Finally, we illustrate the usefulness of our results by a real data.  相似文献

Suppose that ξ and η be two random vectors and that (ξτ, ητ have an elliptically contoured distribution or a multivariate normal distribution. In this article, we obtain some necessary and sufficient (N.S.) conditions such that the ratio of two quadratic forms, say ξτ Aξ and ητ Bη(for some symmetric nonnegative matrices A and B), has an F-distribution. As applications, we extend the classical F-test to some dependent two group samples. Two cases are considered: elliptically contoured and normal distributions.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a (k + 1)n-dimensional elliptically contoured random vector (XT1, X2T, …, XTk, ZT)T = (X11, …, X1n, …, Xk1, …, Xkn, Z1, …, Zn)T and derive the distribution of concomitant of multivariate order statistics arising from X1, X2, …, Xk. Specially, we derive a mixture representation for concomitant of bivariate order statistics. The joint distribution of the concomitant of bivariate order statistics is also obtained. In this paper, we establish an explicit form of matrix decompositions for the queue length distributions of the MAP/G/1 queues under multiple and single vacations with N-policy. In the context of the general linear model Y=Xβ+ε, the matrix Pz =Z(ZTZ)?1 ZT , where Z=(X: Y), plays an important role in determining least squares results. In this article we propose two graphical displays for the off-diagonal as well as the diagonal elements of PZ . The two graphs are based on simple ideas and are useful in the detection of potentially influential subsets of observations in regression. Since PZ is invariant with respect to permutations of the columns of Z, an added advantage of these graphs is that they can be used to detect outliers in multivariate data where the rows of Z are usually regarded as a random sample from a multivariate population. We also suggest two calibration points, one for the diagonal elements of PZ and the other for the off-diagonal elements. The advantage of these calibration points is that they take into consideration the variability of the off-diagonal as well as the diagonal elements of PZ . This article considers spatial data z( s 1), z( s 2),…, z( s n ) collected at n locations, with the objective of predicting z( s 0) at another location. The usual method of analysis for this problem is kriging, but here we introduce a new signal-plus-noise model whose essential feature is the identification of hot spots. The signal decays in relation to distance from hot spots. We show that hot spots can be located with high accuracy and that the decay parameter can be estimated accurately. This new model compares well to kriging in simulations.  相似文献

This paper considers statistical inference for partially linear models Y = X ? β +ν(Z) +? when the linear covariate X is missing with missing probability π depending upon (Y, Z). We propose empirical likelihood‐based statistics to construct confidence regions for β and ν(z). The resulting empirical likelihood ratio statistics are shown to be asymptotically chi‐squared‐distributed. The finite‐sample performance of the proposed statistics is assessed by simulation experiments. The proposed methods are applied to a dataset from an AIDS clinical trial.  相似文献

In this work, we investigate a new class of skew-symmetric distributions, which includes the distributions with the probability density function (pdf) given by g α(x)=2f(x) Gx), introduced by Azzalini [A class of distributions which includes the normal ones, Scand. J. Statist. 12 (1985), pp. 171–178]. We call this new class as the symmetric-skew-symmetric family and it has the pdf proportional to f(x) G βx), where G β(x) is the cumulative distribution function of g β(x). Biased sampling from an underlying distribution with p.d.f. f(t), t>0, implies that observations follow the weighted distribution with p.d.f. f w (t)=w(t)f(t)/E[w(T)] for a known weight function w. In particular, the function w(t)=t α has important applications, including length-biased sampling (α=1) and area-biased sampling (α=2). We first consider here the maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters of a distribution f(t) under biased sampling from a censored population in a proportional hazards frailty model where a baseline distribution (e.g. Weibull) is mixed with a continuous frailty distribution (e.g. Gamma). A right-censored observation contributes a term proportional to w(t)S(t) to the likelihood; this is not the same as S w (t), so the problem of fitting the model does not simply reduce to fitting the weighted distribution. We present results on the distribution of frailty in the weighted distribution and develop an EM algorithm for estimating the parameters of the model in the important Weibull–Gamma case. We also give results for the case where f(t) is a finite mixture distribution. Results are presented for uncensored data and for Type I right censoring. Simulation results are presented, and the methods are illustrated on a set of lifetime data.  相似文献

For a finite population and the resulting linear model Y=+e, the problem of the optimal invariant quadratic predictors including optimal invariant quadratic unbiased predictor and optimal invariant quadratic (potentially) biased predictor for the population quadratic quantities, f(H)=Y′HY , is of interest and has been previously considered in the literature for the case of HX=0. However, the special case does not contain all of situations at all. So, predicting f(H) in general situations may be of particular interest. In this paper, we make an effort to investigate how to offer a good predictor for f(H), not restricted yet to the mentioned case. Permutation matrix techniques play an important role in handling the process. The expected predictors are finally derived. In addition, we mention that the resulting predictors can be viewed as acceptable in all situations.  相似文献

Since its introduction, the pointwise asymptotic properties of the kernel estimator f?n of a probability density function f on ?d, as well as the asymptotic behaviour of its integrated errors, have been studied in great detail. Its weak convergence in functional spaces, however, is a more difficult problem. In this paper, we show that if fn(x)=(f?n(x)) and (rn) is any nonrandom sequence of positive real numbers such that rn/√n→0 then if rn(f?n?fn) converges to a Borel measurable weak limit in a weighted Lp space on ?d, with 1≤p<∞, the limit must be 0.
