Right‐censored and length‐biased failure time data arise in many fields including cross‐sectional prevalent cohort studies, and their analysis has recently attracted a great deal of attention. It is well‐known that for regression analysis of failure time data, two commonly used approaches are hazard‐based and quantile‐based procedures, and most of the existing methods are the hazard‐based ones. In this paper, we consider quantile regression analysis of right‐censored and length‐biased data and present a semiparametric varying‐coefficient partially linear model. For estimation of regression parameters, a three‐stage procedure that makes use of the inverse probability weighted technique is developed, and the asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are established. In addition, the approach allows the dependence of the censoring variable on covariates, while most of the existing methods assume the independence between censoring variables and covariates. A simulation study is conducted and suggests that the proposed approach works well in practical situations. Also, an illustrative example is provided.  相似文献

The bivariate quantile residual life function can play an important role in statistical reliability and survival analysis. In many situations assuming a decreasing form for it is recommended. Here, we propose a new non-parametric estimator of this measure under such restriction. It has been shown that the new estimator is consistent and, with proper normalization, weakly converges to a bivariate Gaussian process. A simulation study shows that the proposed estimator is an alternative to the unrestricted estimator when the bivariate quantile residual life is decreasing. Finally, the new estimators are applied to two real data sets.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a power-transformed linear quantile regression model for the residual lifetime of competing risks data. The proposed model can describe the association between any quantile of a time-to-event distribution among survivors beyond a specific time point and the covariates. Under covariate-dependent censoring, we develop an estimation procedure with two steps, including an unbiased monotone estimating equation for regression parameters and cumulative sum processes for the Box–Cox transformation parameter. The asymptotic properties of the estimators are also derived. We employ an efficient bootstrap method for the estimation of the variance–covariance matrix. The finite-sample performance of the proposed approaches are evaluated through simulation studies and a real example.  相似文献

When describing a failure time distribution, the mean residual life is sometimes preferred to the survival or hazard rate. Regression analysis making use of the mean residual life function has recently drawn a great deal of attention. In this paper, a class of mean residual life regression models are proposed for censored data, and estimation procedures and a goodness-of-fit test are developed. Both asymptotic and finite sample properties of the proposed estimators are established, and the proposed methods are applied to a cancer data set from a clinic trial.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a class of distributions with the inverse linear mean residual quantile function. The distributional properties of the family of distributions are studied. We then discuss the reliability characteristics of the family of distributions. Some characterizations of the class of distributions are also discussed. The parameters of the class of distributions are estimated using the method of L-moments. The proposed class of distributions is applied to a real data set.  相似文献

This paper investigates the quantile residual life regression based on semi-competing risk data. Because the terminal event time dependently censors the non-terminal event time, the inference on the non-terminal event time is not available without extra assumption. Therefore, we assume that the non-terminal event time and the terminal event time follow an Archimedean copula. Then, we apply the inverse probability weight technique to construct an estimating equation of quantile residual life regression coefficients. But, the estimating equation may not be continuous in coefficients. Thus, we apply the generalized solution approach to overcome this problem. Since the variance estimation of the proposed estimator is difficult to obtain, we use the bootstrap resampling method to estimate it. From simulations, it shows the performance of the proposed method is well. Finally, we analyze the Bone Marrow Transplant data for illustrations.  相似文献

Since the pioneering work by Koenker and Bassett [27], quantile regression models and its applications have become increasingly popular and important for research in many areas. In this paper, a random effects ordinal quantile regression model is proposed for analysis of longitudinal data with ordinal outcome of interest. An efficient Gibbs sampling algorithm was derived for fitting the model to the data based on a location-scale mixture representation of the skewed double-exponential distribution. The proposed approach is illustrated using simulated data and a real data example. This is the first work to discuss quantile regression for analysis of longitudinal data with ordinal outcome.  相似文献

The Cox‐Aalen model, obtained by replacing the baseline hazard function in the well‐known Cox model with a covariate‐dependent Aalen model, allows for both fixed and dynamic covariate effects. In this paper, we examine maximum likelihood estimation for a Cox‐Aalen model based on interval‐censored failure times with fixed covariates. The resulting estimator globally converges to the truth slower than the parametric rate, but its finite‐dimensional component is asymptotically efficient. Numerical studies show that estimation via a constrained Newton method performs well in terms of both finite sample properties and processing time for moderate‐to‐large samples with few covariates. We conclude with an application of the proposed methods to assess risk factors for disease progression in psoriatic arthritis.  相似文献

Length‐biased and right‐censored failure time data arise from many fields, and their analysis has recently attracted a great deal of attention. Two examples of the areas that often produce such data are epidemiological studies and cancer screening trials. In this paper, we discuss regression analysis of such data in the presence of missing covariates, for which no established inference procedure seems to exist. For the problem, we consider the data arising from the proportional hazards model and propose two inverse probability weighted estimation procedures. The asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are established, and the extensive simulation study conducted for the evaluation of the proposed methods suggests that they work well for practical situations.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a quantile approach to the multi-index semiparametric model for an ordinal response variable. Permitting non-parametric transformation of the response, the proposed method achieves a root-n rate of convergence and has attractive robustness properties. Further, the proposed model allows additional indices to model the remaining correlations between covariates and the residuals from the single-index, considerably reducing the error variance and thus leading to more efficient prediction intervals (PIs). The utility of the model is demonstrated by estimating PIs for functional status of the elderly based on data from the second longitudinal study of aging. It is shown that the proposed multi-index model provides significantly narrower PIs than competing models. Our approach can be applied to other areas in which the distribution of future observations must be predicted from ordinal response data.  相似文献

The lOOα -percentile (0 < α < 1) residual life function at time x is defined to be the lOOα -percentile of the remaining life given survival up to time x. Joe and Proschan (1982b) develop tests for testing the alternatives representing decreasing 100α-percentile residual life (DPRL-α ) and the property ‘new better than used with respect to the lOOα -percentile’ (NBUP-α ). In this paper, tests are developed for DPRL[α, l) and NBUP[α, l) alternatives, where DPRL[α, l) is the class of life distributions which are DPRL-β distributions for all a ≤ β < 1 if 0 ≤ α < 1 and for all 0 < β < 1 if α = 0, and NBUP[α, l) is similarly defined. When α = 0, the DPRL[α, l) class of life distributions corresponds to the increasing failure rate class and the NBUP[α, l) class of life distributions corresponds to the new better than used class, and the test statistics are respectively asymptotically equivalent to the Hollander and Proschan (1975) test statistics for decreasing mean residual life and new better than used in expectation alternatives.  相似文献

This paper discusses multivariate interval‐censored failure time data observed when several correlated survival times of interest exist and only interval censoring is available for each survival time. Such data occur in many fields, for instance, studies of the development of physical symptoms or diseases in several organ systems. A marginal inference approach was used to create a linear transformation model and applied to bivariate interval‐censored data arising from a diabetic retinopathy study and an AIDS study. The results of simulation studies that were conducted to evaluate the performance of the presented approach suggest that it performs well. Length‐biased sampling data are often encountered in the studies of economics, industrial reliability, epidemiology, genetics and cancer screening. The complication of this type of data is due to the fact that the observed lifetimes suffer from left truncation and right censoring, where the left truncation variable has a uniform distribution. In the Cox proportional hazards model, Huang & Qin (Journal of the American Statistical Association, 107, 2012, p. 107) proposed a composite partial likelihood method which not only has the simplicity of the popular partial likelihood estimator, but also can be easily performed by the standard statistical software. The accelerated failure time model has become a useful alternative to the Cox proportional hazards model. In this paper, by using the composite partial likelihood technique, we study this model with length‐biased sampling data. The proposed method has a very simple form and is robust when the assumption that the censoring time is independent of the covariate is violated. To ease the difficulty of calculations when solving the non‐smooth estimating equation, we use a kernel smoothed estimation method (Heller; Journal of the American Statistical Association, 102, 2007, p. 552). Large sample results and a re‐sampling method for the variance estimation are discussed. Some simulation studies are conducted to compare the performance of the proposed method with other existing methods. A real data set is used for illustration.  相似文献

The semi‐Markov process often provides a better framework than the classical Markov process for the analysis of events with multiple states. The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we show that in the presence of right censoring, when the right end‐point of the support of the censoring time is strictly less than the right end‐point of the support of the semi‐Markov kernel, the transition probability of the semi‐Markov process is nonidentifiable, and the estimators proposed in the literature are inconsistent in general. We derive the set of all attainable values for the transition probability based on the censored data, and we propose a nonparametric inference procedure for the transition probability using this set. Second, the conventional approach to constructing confidence bands is not applicable for the semi‐Markov kernel and the sojourn time distribution. We propose new perturbation resampling methods to construct these confidence bands. Different weights and transformations are explored in the construction. We use simulation to examine our proposals and illustrate them with hospitalization data from a recent cancer survivor study. The authors consider the estimation of regression parameters in the context of a class of generalized proportional hazards models, termed linear transformation models, in the presence of interval‐censored data. They present an estimating equation approach whose good performance is demonstrated through simulations and which they illustrate in a few concrete cases.  相似文献

In this paper, we focus on the variable selection for the semiparametric regression model with longitudinal data when some covariates are measured with errors. A new bias-corrected variable selection procedure is proposed based on the combination of the quadratic inference functions and shrinkage estimations. With appropriate selection of the tuning parameters, we establish the consistency and asymptotic normality of the resulting estimators. Extensive Monte Carlo simulation studies are conducted to examine the finite sample performance of the proposed variable selection procedure. We further illustrate the proposed procedure with an application.  相似文献
