ABSTRACT

On the basis of Csiszar's φ-divergence discrimination information, we propose a measure of discrepancy between equilibriums associated with two distributions. Proving that a distribution can be characterized by associated equilibrium distribution, a Renyi distance of the equilibrium distributions is constructed that made us to propose an EDF-based goodness-of-fit test for exponential distribution. For comparing the performance of the proposed test, some well-known EDF-based tests and some entropy-based tests are considered. Based on the simulation results, the proposed test has better powers than those of competing entropy-based tests for the alternatives with decreasing hazard rate function. The use of the proposed test is evaluated in an illustrative example.  相似文献

Two different distributions may have equal cumulative residual entropy (CRE), thus a distribution cannot be determined by its CRE. In this article, we explore properties of the CRE and study conditions under which the CRE of the first-order statistics can uniquely determines the parent distribution. Weibull family is characterized through ratio of the CRE of the first-order statistics to its expectation. We have also some bounds for the CRE of residual lifetime of a series system.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce a measure of discrepancy between two life-time distributions based on cumulative residual entropy. The dynamic form of this measure is considered and some of its properties are obtained. The relations between dynamic form and some well-known concepts in reliability such as mean residual life-time, hazard rate order, and new better (worse) than used are studied.  相似文献

This article presents a new goodness-of-fit (GOF) test statistic for multiply Type II censored Exponential data. The new test also applies to ordinary Type II censored samples and complete samples, since those cases are special cases of multiply Type II censoring. This test statistic is based on a ratio of linear functions of order statistics. Empirical power studies confirm that this ratio test compares favorably to currently available GOF tests for ordinary Type II censored data. Three data analysis examples are provided that demonstrate the usefulness of this new test statistic.  相似文献

Recently, Zografos and Nadarajah (2005 Zografos, K., Nadarajah, S. (2005). Survival exponential entropies. IEEE Trans. Inform. Theor. 51:12391246.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) proposed two measures of uncertainty based on the survival function, called the survival exponential entropy and the generalized survival exponential entropy. In this article, we explore properties of the generalized survival entropy and the dynamic version of it. We study conditions under which the generalized survival entropy of first order statistic can uniquely determines the parent distribution. The exponential, Pareto, and finite range distributions, which are commonly used in reliability, have been characterized using this generalized measure. Another measure of entropy is also introduced in analogy with cumulative entropy which has been proposed by Di Crescenzo and Longobardi (2009) and some properties of it are given.  相似文献

In this investigation a test of goodness of fit for exponentiality is proposed. This procedure applies equally whether the scale and/or the location parameters of the distribution are known or not. The limiting null and non-null distributions of the test statistic are normal under minimal conditions. Monte Carlo critical values for small sample sizes are given and the power of the test is calculated for various alternatives showing that it compares favourably relatively to other more complicated published procedures.  相似文献

The likelihood equations based on a progressively Type II censored sample from a Type I generalized logistic distribution do not provide explicit solutions for the location and scale parameters. We present a simple method of deriving explicit estimators by approximating the likelihood equations appropriately. We examine numerically the bias and variance of these estimators and show that these estimators are as efficient as the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs). The probability coverages of the pivotal quantities (for location and scale parameters) based on asymptotic normality are shown to be unsatisfactory, especially when the effective sample size is small. Therefore we suggest using unconditional simulated percentage points of these pivotal quantities for the construction of confidence intervals. A wide range of sample sizes and progressive censoring schemes have been considered in this study. Finally, we present a numerical example to illustrate the methods of inference developed here.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the entropy estimator introduced by Alizadeh Noughabi and Arghami (2010) and derive the nonparametric distribution function corresponding to our estimator as a piece-wise uniform distribution. We use the results to introduce goodness-of-fit tests for the normal and the exponential distributions. The critical values and powers for some alternatives are obtained by simulation. The powers of the proposed tests under various alternatives are compared with the competitors.  相似文献

In this article, we obtain the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) and approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLEs) of the parameters, from a two-parameter log-normal distribution based on the adaptive Type-II progressive hybrid censoring scheme, which was introduced by Ng et al. (2009 Ng , H. K. T. , Kundu , D. , Chan , P. S. ( 2009 ). Statistical analysis of exponential lifetimes under an adaptive Type-II progressively censoring scheme . Naval Research Logistics 56 : 687698 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) for life testing or reliability experiment. In order to compare the results, we calculate corresponding estimators of the Type-II progressive hybrid censoring scheme. In particular, we provide computational formulas of the expected total test time and the expected number of failures for each scheme. We also compute the observed Fisher information matrix and use them to obtain the asymptotic confidence intervals. A simulation study carries out to evaluate the bias and mean square error of the MLEs and AMLEs from the two above-mentioned schemes. Finally, we present a numerical example to illustrate the methods of inference discussed here.  相似文献

In this article, we present a corrected version of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of the scale parameter with progressively Type-I censored data from a two-parameter exponential distribution. Furthermore, we propose a bias correction of both the location and scale MLE. The properties of the estimates are analyzed by a simulation study which also illustrates the effect of the correction. Moreover, the presented estimators are applied to two data sets. Finally, it is shown that the correction of the scale estimator is also necessary for other distributions with a finite left endpoint of support (e.g., three-parameter Weibull distributions).  相似文献

A uniqueness theorem for a recently introduced special Hankel transform of probability distributions on the non negative half-line motivates a K-S type test statistic based on empirical Hankel transforms for testing the hypothesis of exponentiality. This article deals with the asymptotic behavior of the new test.  相似文献

The residual entropy function is a relevant dynamic measure of uncertainty in reliability and survival studies. Recently, Rao et al. [2004. Cumulative residual entropy: a new measure of information. IEEE Transactions on Information Theory 50, 1220–1228] and Asadi and Zohrevand [2007. On the dynamic cumulative residual entropy. Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference 137, 1931–1941] define the cumulative residual entropy and the dynamic cumulative residual entropy, respectively, as some new measures of uncertainty. They study some properties and applications of these measures showing how the cumulative residual entropy and the dynamic cumulative residual entropy are connected with the mean residual life function. In this paper, we obtain some new results on these functions. We also define and study the dynamic cumulative past entropy function. Some results are given connecting these measures of a lifetime distribution and that of the associated weighted distribution.  相似文献

Entropy-based goodness-of-fit test statistics can be established by estimating the entropy difference or Kullback–Leibler information, and several entropy-based test statistics based on various entropy estimators have been proposed. In this article, we first give comments on some problems resulting from not satisfying the moment constraints. We then study the choice of the entropy estimator by noting the reason why a test based on a better entropy estimator does not necessarily provide better powers.  相似文献

In industrial life test and survival analysis, the percentile estimation is always a practical issue with lower confidence bound required for maintenance purpose. Sampling distributions for the maximum likelihood estimators of percentiles are usually unknown. Bootstrap procedures are common ways to estimate the unknown sampling distributions. Five parametric bootstrap procedures are proposed to estimate the confidence lower bounds on maximum likelihood estimators for the generalized exponential (GE) distribution percentiles under progressive type-I interval censoring. An intensive simulation is conducted to evaluate the performances of proposed procedures. Finally, an example of 112 patients with plasma cell myeloma is given for illustration.  相似文献

Based on progressively Type-I interval censored sample, the problem of estimating unknown parameters of a two parameter generalized half-normal(GHN) distribution is considered. Different methods of estimation are discussed. They include the maximum likelihood estimation, midpoint approximation method, approximate maximum likelihood estimation, method of moments, and estimation based on probability plot. Several Bayesian estimates with respect to different symmetric and asymmetric loss functions such as squared error, LINEX, and general entropy is calculated. The Lindley’s approximation method is applied to determine Bayesian estimates. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to compare the performances of the different methods. Finally, analysis is also carried out for a real dataset.  相似文献

The Kulback-Leibler information has been considered for establishing goodness-of-fit test statistics, which have been shown to perform very well (Arizono & Ohta, 1989; Ebrahimi et al., 1992, etc). In this paper, we propose censored Kullback-Leibler information to generalize the discussion of the Kullback-Leibler information to the censored case. Then we establish a goodness-of-fit test statistic based on the censored Kullback-Leibler information with the type 2 censored data, and compare the test statistics with some existing test statistics for the exponential and normal distributions.  相似文献

In this article, we use a new cdf estimator to obtain a nanparametric entropy estimate and use it for testing exponentiality and normality. We also use the new cdf estimator to estimate the joint entropy of the Type II censored data which we use for some goodness-of-fit tests based on Kullback–Leibler information and show, by simulation, that it compares favorably with the leading competitor.  相似文献

In this article, we estimate the parameters of exponential Pareto II distribution by two new methods. The first one is based on the principle of maximum entropy (POME) and the second is by Kullback–Leibler divergence of survival function (KLS). Monte Carlo simulated data are used to evaluate these methods and compare them with the maximum likelihood method. Finally, we fit this distribution to a set of real data by estimation procedures.  相似文献

In the model of progressive type II censoring, point and interval estimation as well as relations for single and product moments are considered. Based on two-parameter exponential distributions, maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs), uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimators (UMVUEs) and best linear unbiased estimators (BLUEs) are derived for both location and scale parameters. Some properties of these estimators are shown. Moreover, results for single and product moments of progressive type II censored order statistics are presented to obtain recurrence relations from exponential and truncated exponential distributions. These relations may then be used to compute all the means, variances and covariances of progressive type II censored order statistics based on exponential distributions for arbitrary censoring schemes. The presented recurrence relations simplify those given by Aggarwala and Balakrishnan (1996)  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of constant partially accelerated life tests when the lifetime follows the generalized exponential distribution is considered. Based on progressive type-II censoring scheme, the maximum likelihood and Bayes methods of estimation are used for estimating the distribution parameters and acceleration factor. A Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of the obtained estimates.  相似文献
