Quadruplets Gather in Shanghai

MAYBE even rarer than an Elvis sighting in Beijing, eleven sets of quadruplets from eight cities, provinces and autonomous regions gathered together for the first time in Shanghai in May of 1997. Entitled "Let Affection Fill China--Reunion of Chinese Quadruplets," the sets of four came from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Shandong, Ningxia and Hebei. Shanghai Hosts UN Global Compact Summit: China 联合国全球契约中国峰会在上海举行 With the theme of "Building Alliances for a Sustainable Global Economy," the UN Global Compact Summit: China was held in Shanghai on November 30 and December 1,2005. The conference was sponsored by UN Global Compact and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. More than 400 participants-representing various Chinese enterprises, transnational firms, UN organizations and nongovernmental agencies-attended. Representatives from the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) also attended the summit. Cui Yu, Director of ACWF's Development Department, delivered a speech, entitled "Creating Favorable Circumstances Together, Promoting Women's Equal Employment," during the forum on workplace diversity and equality. The speech provided participants with the current situation regarding Chinese women's employment (see the following).

Shanghai Women's Federation in 2021 released a document that clarified the goals and direction for the work of women’s federations,at all levels in Shanghai,especially related to marriage and family dispute prevention and mediation.At the end of the year,the federation invited members of the commission of politics and law of the municipal Party committee,and officials from public security departments,procuratorates and courts,and judicial organs,to help evaluate its grassroots family-dispute-mediation work.

At the First International Symposium on the Issue of Chinese "Comfort Women" held in Shanghai this April, it was declared that the wartime habit of taking "comfort women" was paramount to military sex slavery. Carried out by the Japanese government and armies before and during World Ⅱ, in its colonies and occupied land, it was a heinous war crime, which severely infringed women's human rights. And yet this period of history and the crimes that were committed have been deliberately "fortotten" by the Japanese.     

印度妇女组织联合代表团访华

Invited by the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, a six-member delegation of Indian women, headed by Mrs. Gomathi Nair, President of the All India Women＇s Conference, visited Beijing and Shanghai from July 25-31, 2010. It was the first time that the ACWF had invited a non- governmental women＇s delegation from India to visit. During the visit, Meng Xiaosi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women＇s Federation, met members of the delegation. In Beijing, the delegation visited Wuzhou Women＇s Hospital and the grass-roots women＇s federation at Shijia Hutong, in Dongcheng District. In Shanghai, the delegation visited the Employment Promotion Center in Baoshan District. The guests also attended a work-experience- exchange meeting with Baoshan District Women＇s Federation, and they visited a pear orchard, the Shanghai Lilan Fashion Accessories Manufacturing Co., Ltd, and the Expo 2010 Shanghai China.
