The concept of reciprocal coordinate subtangent (RCST) has been used as a useful tool to study the monotone behavior of a continuous density function and for characterizing probability distributions. In this paper, we propose a non-parametric estimator for RCST based on the censored dependent data. Asymptotic properties of the estimator are established under suitable regularity conditions. A simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of the estimator. The usefulness of the estimator is also examined through a real data.  相似文献

We present some unbiased estimators at the population mean in a finite population sample surveys with simple random sampling design where information on an auxiliary variance x positively correlated with the main variate y is available. Exact variance and unbiased estimate of the variance are computed for any sample size. These estimators are compared for their precision with the mean per unit and the ratio estimators. Modifications of the estimators are suggested to make them more precise than the mean per unit estimator or the ratio estimator regardless of the value of the population correlation coefficient between the variates x and y. Asymptotic distribution of our estimators and confidnece intervals for the population mean are also obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new efficient estimator namely Optimal Generalized Logistic Estimator (OGLE) for estimating the parameter in a logistic regression model when there exists multicollinearity among explanatory variables. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator are also derived. The performance of the proposed estimator over the other existing estimators in respect of Scalar Mean Square Error criterion is examined by conducting a Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

In this article large sample pooling procedures for reliability functions of an exponential life testing model is considered. Asymptotic properties of shrinkage estimation procedure subsequent to preliminary tests are developed. It is shown that the proposed estimator possesses substantially snakker asymptotic mean squared error than the usual estimator in a region of the lparameter space. Relative efficiencies of the purposed estimators to the usual estimators are obtained and recommendations of the level of the preliminary tests are provided. Relative dominance picture of the estimators is presented. It is shown that the proposed estimator provides a wider dominance range over usual estimator than the usual preliminary test estimator. More importantly, the size of the preliminary test is meaningful. Simulation studies is also carried out to appraise the performance of the estimators when samples are small.  相似文献

The product limit or Kaplan‐Meier (KM) estimator is commonly used to estimate the survival function in the presence of incomplete time to event. Application of this method assumes inherently that the occurrence of an event is known with certainty. However, the clinical diagnosis of an event is often subject to misclassification due to assay error or adjudication error, by which the event is assessed with some uncertainty. In the presence of such errors, the true distribution of the time to first event would not be estimated accurately using the KM method. We develop a method to estimate the true survival distribution by incorporating negative predictive values and positive predictive values, into a KM‐like method of estimation. This allows us to quantify the bias in the KM survival estimates due to the presence of misclassified events in the observed data. We present an unbiased estimator of the true survival function and its variance. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are provided, and these properties are examined through simulations. We demonstrate our methods using data from the Viral Resistance to Antiviral Therapy of Hepatitis C study.  相似文献

Lee et al. in 2016 proposed a nonparametric estimator of the joint distribution of the gap time between transplant and the first infection and the following gap times between consecutive infections. In this article, we propose an alternative estimator based on the inverse-probability weighted (IPW) approach. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator are established . Simulation results indicate that the IPW estimator performs as well as the estimator proposed by Lee et al. We also propose an IPW estimator for estimating the joint distribution function of the gap times between consecutive recurrent events beyond the first episode.  相似文献

Whereas large-sample properties of the estimators of survival distributions using censored data have been studied by many authors, exact results for small samples have been difficult to obtain. In this paper we obtain the exact expression for the ath moment (a > 0) of the Bayes estimator of survival distribution using the censored data under proportional hazard model. Using the exact expression we compute the exact mean, variance and MSE of the Bayes estimator. Also two estimators ofthe mean survival time based on the Kaplan-Meier estimator and the Bayes estimator are compared for small samples under proportional hazards.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the asymptotic properties of estimators obtained for the semiparametric additive accelerated life model proposed by Bagdonavicius & Nikulin (1995). This model generalizes the well known additive hazards model of survival analysis and is close to the general transformation model (see Dabrowska & Doksum, 1988). Asymptotic properties of the estimator of the regression parameter and the estimator of the reliability function are given in the case of right censoring for discretized data and a numerical example illustrates these results.  相似文献

Regression calibration is a simple method for estimating regression models when covariate data are missing for some study subjects. It consists in replacing an unobserved covariate by an estimator of its conditional expectation given available covariates. Regression calibration has recently been investigated in various regression models such as the linear, generalized linear, and proportional hazards models. The aim of this paper is to investigate the appropriateness of this method for estimating the stratified Cox regression model with missing values of the covariate defining the strata. Despite its practical relevance, this problem has not yet been discussed in the literature. Asymptotic distribution theory is developed for the regression calibration estimator in this setting. A simulation study is also conducted to investigate the properties of this estimator.  相似文献

Abstract.  A new kernel distribution function (df) estimator based on a non-parametric transformation of the data is proposed. It is shown that the asymptotic bias and mean squared error of the estimator are considerably smaller than that of the standard kernel df estimator. For the practical implementation of the new estimator a data-based choice of the bandwidth is proposed. Two possible areas of application are the non-parametric smoothed bootstrap and survival analysis. In the latter case new estimators for the survival function and the mean residual life function are derived.  相似文献

Multicollinearity and model misspecification are frequently encountered problems in practice that produce undesirable effects on classical ordinary least squares (OLS) regression estimator. The ridge regression estimator is an important tool to reduce the effects of multicollinearity, but it is still sensitive to a model misspecification of error distribution. Although rank-based statistical inference has desirable robustness properties compared to the OLS procedures, it can be unstable in the presence of multicollinearity. This paper introduces a rank regression estimator for regression parameters and develops tests for general linear hypotheses in a multiple linear regression model. The proposed estimator and the tests have desirable robustness features against the multicollinearity and model misspecification of error distribution. Asymptotic behaviours of the proposed estimator and the test statistics are investigated. Real and simulated data sets are used to demonstrate the feasibility and the performance of the estimator and the tests.  相似文献

A kernel estimator of a derivative of arbitrary order of a nonparametric average population curve is considered for a correlated-errors model with balanced replicate measurements at each design point. Asymptotic expansions of the mean squared error are derived for two classes of correlation functions in the model. Consistency, choice of smoothing parameter, and rates of convergence are examined for the important special cases of estimating the first and second derivatives.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new nonparametric unimodal estimator of a unimodal probability density function, in the case where the mode is known. The classical solution to this problem is the maximum-likelihood estimator under monotonicity constraint, considered by Grenander (1956). Our approach is based on a unimodal rearrangement of the kernel estimator of the density. Asymptotic properties of this estimator are studied, and its small-sample behaviour is examined through simulations.  相似文献

Asymptotic methods are commonly used in statistical inference for unknown parameters in binary data models. These methods are based on large sample theory, a condition which may be in conflict with small sample size and hence leads to poor results in the optimal designs theory. In this paper, we apply the second order expansions of the maximum likelihood estimator and derive a matrix formula for the mean square error (MSE) to obtain more precise optimal designs based on the MSE. Numerical results indicate the new optimal designs are more efficient than the optimal designs based on the information matrix.  相似文献

This article focuses on the estimation of percentile residual life function with left-truncated and right-censored data. Asymptotic normality and a pointwise confidence interval that does not require estimating the unknown underlying distribution function of the proposed empirical estimator are obtained. Some simulation studies and a real data example are used to illustrate our results.  相似文献

Asymptotic bias formulae are obtained for Heckman's two step estimator under misspecification of the single equation Tobit modelj and the two equation sample selection model. Asymptotic biases are also obtained for the ordinary least squares estimator based on uncensored observations only. Omitted variables, errors in variables, and heteroskedasticity are considered as sources of misspecification. The biases are illustrated by numerical examples, in which the Tobit maximum likelihood estimator is also included. Severe consequences for the two step estimator are indicated.  相似文献

Empirical distribution function (EDF) is a commonly used estimator of population cumulative distribution function. Survival function is estimated as the complement of EDF. However, clinical diagnosis of an event is often subjected to misclassification, by which the outcome is given with some uncertainty. In the presence of such errors, the true distribution of the time to first event is unknown. We develop a method to estimate the true survival distribution by incorporating negative predictive values and positive predictive values of the prediction process into a product-limit style construction. This will allow us to quantify the bias of the EDF estimates due to the presence of misclassified events in the observed data. We present an unbiased estimator of the true survival rates and its variance. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are provided and these properties are examined through simulations. We evaluate our methods using data from the VIRAHEP-C study.  相似文献

In survival and reliability studies, panel count data arise when we investigate a recurrent event process and each study subject is observed only at discrete time points. If recurrent events of several types are possible, we obtain panel count data with competing risks. Such data arise frequently from transversal studies on recurrent events in demography, epidemiology and reliability experiments where the individuals cannot be observed continuously. In the present paper, we propose an isotonic regression estimator for the cause specific mean function of the underlying recurrent event process of a competing risks panel count data. Further, a nonparametric test is proposed to compare the cause specific mean functions of the panel count competing risks data. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator and test statistic are studied. A simulation study is conducted to assess the finite sample behaviour of the proposed estimator and test statistic. Finally, the procedures developed are applied to a real data arising from skin cancer chemo prevention trial.  相似文献

The Buckley–James estimator (BJE) is a widely recognized approach in dealing with right-censored linear regression models. There have been a lot of discussions in the literature on the estimation of the BJE as well as its asymptotic distribution. So far, no simulation has been done to directly estimate the asymptotic variance of the BJE. Kong and Yu [Asymptotic distributions of the Buckley–James estimator under nonstandard conditions, Statist. Sinica 17 (2007), pp. 341–360] studied the asymptotic distribution under discontinuous assumptions. Based on their methodology, we recalculate and correct some missing terms in the expression of the asymptotic variance in Theorem 2 of their work. We propose an estimator of the standard deviation of the BJE by using plug-in estimators. The estimator is shown to be consistent. The performance of the estimator is accessed through simulation studies under discrete underline distributions. We further extend our studies to several continuous underline distributions through simulation. The estimator is also applied to a real medical data set. The simulation results suggest that our estimation is a good approximation to the true standard deviation with reference to the empirical standard deviation.  相似文献
