In this paper, we consider a unified approach to stochastic comparisons of random vectors corresponding to two general multivariate mixture models. These stochastic comparisons are made with respect to multivariate hazard rate, reversed hazard rate and likelihood ratio orders. As an application, results are presented for stochastic comparisons of generalized multivariate frailty models.  相似文献

The frailty approach is commonly used in reliability theory and survival analysis to model the dependence between lifetimes of individuals or components subject to common risk factors; according to this model the frailty (an unobservable random vector that describes environmental conditions) acts simultaneously on the hazard functions of the lifetimes. Some interesting conditions for stochastic comparisons between random vectors defined in accordance with these models have been described in the literature; in particular, comparisons between frailty models have been studied by assuming independence for the baseline survival functions and the corresponding environmental parameters. In this paper, a generalization of these models is developed, which assumes conditional dependence between the components of the random vector, and some conditions for stochastic comparisons are provided. Some examples of frailty models satisfying these conditions are also described.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a general frailty model and develop its properties including some results for stochastic comparisons. More specifically, our main results lie in seeing how the well known stochastic orderings between distributions of two frailties translate into the orderings between the corresponding survival functions. These results are used to obtain the properties of the classical multiplicative frailty model and the additive frailty model. Several of the results, in the literature, are obtained as special cases.  相似文献

Abstract

The Dagum distribution has been extensively used to model income data, and its features have been appreciated in economics and financial studies. In this article, we discuss ordering properties of largest order statistics from independent and heterogeneous Dagum populations. We present some sufficient conditions for stochastic comparisons between largest order statistics in terms of the reversed hazard rate order, the usual stochastic order, the convex order, the likelihood ratio order and the dispersive order. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the results established here.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper mainly investigates a general load-sharing parallel system having two units. First, we construct some comparisons among a load standby system, a warm standby system, a hot standby system and a cold standby system. Moreover, some stochastic comparisons between the load-sharing parallel system and one of its two components are obtained in the sense of the usual stochastic order. Finally, the residual life of this system and its properties are examined.  相似文献

Abstract

Frailty models are used in survival analysis to account for unobserved heterogeneity in individual risks to disease and death. To analyze bivariate data on related survival times (e.g., matched pairs experiments, twin, or family data), shared frailty models were suggested. Shared frailty models are frequently used to model heterogeneity in survival analysis. The most common shared frailty model is a model in which hazard function is a product of random factor(frailty) and baseline hazard function which is common to all individuals. There are certain assumptions about the baseline distribution and distribution of frailty. In this paper, we introduce shared gamma frailty models with reversed hazard rate. We introduce Bayesian estimation procedure using Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique to estimate the parameters involved in the model. We present a simulation study to compare the true values of the parameters with the estimated values. Also, we apply the proposed model to the Australian twin data set.  相似文献

The components of a reliability system subjected to a common random environment usually have dependent lifetimes. This paper studies the stochastic properties of such a system with lifetimes of the components following multivariate frailty models and multivariate mixed proportional reversed hazard rate (PRHR) models, respectively. Through doing stochastic comparison, we devote to throwing a new light on how the random environment affects the number of working components of a reliability system and on assessing the performance of a k-out-of-n system.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we first investigate some reliability properties in the proportional mean past lifetimes model. Specifically, some implications of stochastic orders and aging notions between random variables which have proportional mean past lifetimes are discussed. Then, as an extension, mixture model arising from the proportional mean past lifetimes model is introduced and preservation properties of some stochastic orders and aging notions concerning this mixture model are studied. We also study some negative dependence properties in the proposed mixture model.  相似文献

Evolutionary algorithms are heuristic stochastic search and optimization techniques with principles taken from natural genetics. They are procedures mimicking the evolution process of an initial population through genetic transformations. This paper is concerned with the problem of finding A-optimal incomplete block designs for multiple treatment comparisons represented by a matrix of contrasts. An evolutionary algorithm for searching optimal, or nearly optimal, incomplete block designs is described in detail. Various examples regarding the application of the algorithm to some well-known problems illustrate the good performance of the algorithm  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a measure for obtaining the expectation of time between two lower k-records under the condition that the greater one is given. Several properties of the proposed measure are derived. Some characterization results and stochastic comparisons based on the new measure are also provided.  相似文献

Abstract

The transmuted-G model is a useful technique to construct some new distributions by adding a parameter. This paper considers stochastic comparisons in the transmuted-G family with different parameters and different baseline distributions in the sense of the usual stochastic, shifted stochastic, proportional stochastic and shifted proportional stochastic orders. Also, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for existence of the moments of the transmuted-G model and then we obtain some bounds for the survival and aging intensity functions of the transmuted-G model conditioned on its parameter and its baseline distribution.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, we discuss stochastic comparisons of series and parallel systems with independent heterogeneous lower-truncated Weibull components. When a system with possibly different shape and scale parameters and its matrix of parameters changes to another matrix in a certain mathematical sense, we study the hazard rate order of lifetimes of series systems and the usual stochastic order of lifetimes of parallel systems.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we have considered three different shared frailty models under the assumption of generalized Pareto Distribution as baseline distribution. Frailty models have been used in the survival analysis to account for the unobserved heterogeneity in an individual risks to disease and death. These three frailty models are with gamma frailty, inverse Gaussian frailty and positive stable frailty. Then we introduce the Bayesian estimation procedure using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique to estimate the parameters. We applied these three models to a kidney infection data and find the best fitted model for kidney infection data. We present a simulation study to compare true value of the parameters with the estimated values. Model comparison is made using Bayesian model selection criterion and a well-fitted model is suggested for the kidney infection data.  相似文献

Considering alternative models for exchange rates has always been a central issue in applied research. Despite this fact, formal likelihood-based comparisons of competing models are extremely rare. In this paper, we apply the Bayesian marginal likelihood concept to compare GARCH, stable, stable GARCH, stochastic volatility, and a new stable Paretian stochastic volatility model for seven major currencies. Inference is based on combining Monte Carlo methods with Laplace integration. The empirical results show that neither GARCH nor stable models are clear winners, and a GARCH model with stable innovations is the model best supported by the data.  相似文献

Estimation in Semiparametric Marginal Shared Gamma Frailty Models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The semiparametric marginal shared frailty models in survival analysis have the non–parametric hazard functions multiplied by a random frailty in each cluster, and the survival times conditional on frailties are assumed to be independent. In addition, the marginal hazard functions have the same form as in the usual Cox proportional hazard models. In this paper, an approach based on maximum likelihood and expectation–maximization is applied to semiparametric marginal shared gamma frailty models, where the frailties are assumed to be gamma distributed with mean 1 and variance θ. The estimates of the fixed–effect parameters and their standard errors obtained using this approach are compared in terms of both bias and efficiency with those obtained using the extended marginal approach. Similarly, the standard errors of our frailty variance estimates are found to compare favourably with those obtained using other methods. The asymptotic distribution of the frailty variance estimates is shown to be a 50–50 mixture of a point mass at zero and a truncated normal random variable on the positive axis for θ0 = 0. Simulations demonstrate that, for θ0 < 0, it is approximately an x −(100 − x )%, 0 ≤ x ≤ 50, mixture between a point mass at zero and a truncated normal random variable on the positive axis for small samples and small values of θ0; otherwise, it is approximately normal.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a mixture representation for the reliability function of the conditional residual lifetime of a coherent system with n independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) components under double monitoring. We suppose that at time t1, j components have failed while at time t2 the system is still alive. Based on these mixture representation, we then study stochastic comparisons of the conditional residual lifetimes of two coherent systems with independent and identical components.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Lifetime of heterogeneous population can be modeled as mixture of a family of lifetime distributions according to a mixing probability measure. With the help of dynamic mixing measure, the hazard rate of the mixture can also be expressed as the mixture of the hazard rates of the lifetime distributions. Various local stochastic orderings are defined in this article. Applying these local stochastic orderings, we can explore the behavior of the dynamic mixing measures locally and then compare the hazard rates of two heterogeneous populations in both the local and global ways.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we extend the concept of univariate frailty to a bivariate case to quantify and visualize the loss of efficiency of the log-rank test when a dependence structure between failure and censoring times is being ignored. We assume that an unobservable frailty influences the risk of failure and the other affects the risk of censoring, and those two frailties are correlated. Under the model being compared as a benchmark, the dependence structure between failure and censoring times is assumed to be completely observed. Under the model where the log-rank test is constructed without considering the dependency between failure and censoring times, it is assumed that the unobservable dependence structure has been absorbed into the baseline distributions. We note in our particular example that the loss of efficiency is minimal under the proportional hazards model even when the correlation between potential failure and censoring times is strong unless the dependence censorship induces a severe nonproportionality.  相似文献

Abstract

The frailties, representing extra variations due to unobserved measurements, are often assumed to be iid in shared frailty models. In medical applications, however, a speculation can arise that a data set might violate the iid assumption. In this paper we investigate this conjecture through an analysis of the kidney infection data in McGilchrist and Aisbett (McGilchrist, C. A., Aisbett, C. W. (1991). Regression with frailty in survival analysis. Biometrics 47:461–466). As a test procedure, we consider the cusum of squares test which is frequently used for monitoring a variance change in statistical models. Our result strongly sustains the heterogeneity of the frailty distribution.  相似文献

This paper reviews recent developments in the stochastic comparison of order statistics. The results discussed are basically: (l) Stochastic comparisons of linear combinations of order statistics from distributions F and G where G?1 F is convex or starshaped. (2) Stochastic comparisons of individual order statistics and of vectors of order statistics from underlying heterogeneous distributions by the use of majorization and Schur function theory. (3) Stochastic comparison of random processes. Applications to reliability problems are presented illustrating the use and value of the theoretical results described  相似文献
