In this paper, we consider a unified approach to stochastic comparisons of random vectors corresponding to two general multivariate mixture models. These stochastic comparisons are made with respect to multivariate hazard rate, reversed hazard rate and likelihood ratio orders. As an application, results are presented for stochastic comparisons of generalized multivariate frailty models. 相似文献

Ordering properties of largest order statistics from independent and heterogeneous Dagum populations
AbstractThe Dagum distribution has been extensively used to model income data, and its features have been appreciated in economics and financial studies. In this article, we discuss ordering properties of largest order statistics from independent and heterogeneous Dagum populations. We present some sufficient conditions for stochastic comparisons between largest order statistics in terms of the reversed hazard rate order, the usual stochastic order, the convex order, the likelihood ratio order and the dispersive order. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the results established here. 相似文献

In this paper, we study ordering properties of lifetimes of parallel systems with two independent heterogeneous exponential components in terms of the likelihood ratio order (reversed hazard rate order) and the hazard rate order (stochastic order). We establish, among others, that the weakly majorization order between two hazard rate vectors is equivalent to the likelihood ratio order (reversed hazard rate order) between lifetimes of two parallel systems, and that the p-larger order between two hazard rate vectors is equivalent to the hazard rate order (stochastic order) between lifetimes of two parallel systems. Moreover, we extend the results to the proportional hazard rate models. The results derived here strengthen and generalize some of the results known in the literature. 相似文献

Convolutions of independent random variables are usually compared. In this paper, after a synthetic comparison with respect to hazard rate ordering between sums of independent exponential random variables, we focus on the special case where one sum is identically distributed. So, for a given sum of n independent exponential random variables, we deduce the "best" Erlang-n bounds, with respect to each of the usual orderings: mean ordering, stochastic ordering, hazard rate ordering and likelihood ratio ordering. 相似文献

This paper reviews recent developments in the stochastic comparison of order statistics. The results discussed are basically: (l) Stochastic comparisons of linear combinations of order statistics from distributions F and G where G?1 F is convex or starshaped. (2) Stochastic comparisons of individual order statistics and of vectors of order statistics from underlying heterogeneous distributions by the use of majorization and Schur function theory. (3) Stochastic comparison of random processes. Applications to reliability problems are presented illustrating the use and value of the theoretical results described 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate ordering properties of lifetimes of parallel systems with two independent heterogeneous exponential components with respect to likelihood ratio and hazard rate orders. Two sufficient conditions are provided for likelihood ratio and hazard rate orders to hold between the lifetimes of two parallel systems, respectively. Moreover, we extend the results from exponential case to the proportional hazard rate models. The results established here strength some of the results known in the literature. Finally, some numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results derived here as well. 相似文献

Weighted distributions (univariate and bivariate) have received widespread attention over the last two decades because of their flexibility for analyzing skewed data. In this article, we propose an alternative method to construct a new family of bivariate and multivariate weighted distributions. For illustrative purposes, some examples of the proposed method are presented. Several structural properties of the bivariate weighted distributions including marginal distributions together with distributions of the minimum and maximum, evaluation of the reliability parameter, and verification of total positivity of order two are also presented. In addition, we provide some multivariate extensions of the proposed models. A real-life data set is used to show the applicability of these bivariate weighted distributions. 相似文献

In this article, we review some recent results on the stochastic comparison of convolutions from independent and heterogeneous random variables. We highlight the close connections that exist between some classical stochastic orders and majorization-type orders. 相似文献

Multiple comparisons of the effects of several treatments with a control (MCC) has been a central problem in medicine and other areas. Nearly all of existing papers are devoted to comparing means of the effects. To study medical problems more deeply, one needs more information than mean relationship from the given data. It can be expected to get more useful and deeper conclusion by comparing the probability distributions, i.e., by comparison under stochastic orders. This paper presents a likelihood ratio testing procedure to compare effects under stochastic order for MCC problems, controlling the false discovery rate (FDR). Setting a test controlling FDR under stochastic order faces several non trivial problems. These problems are analyzed and solved in this paper. To facilitate the test more easily, the asymptotic p values for the test are used and their distributions are derived. It is shown that controllability of FDR for this comparison procedure can be guaranteed. A real data example is used to illustrate how to apply this testing procedure and what the test can tell. Simulation results show that this testing procedure works quite well, better than some other tests. 相似文献
