The paper introduces a new difference-based Liu estimator β?Ldiff=([Xtilde]′[Xtilde]+I)?1([Xtilde]′[ytilde]+η β?diff) of the regression parameters β in the semiparametric regression model, y=Xβ+f+?. Difference-based estimator, β?diff=([Xtilde]′[Xtilde])?1[Xtilde]′[ytilde] and difference-based Liu estimator are analysed and compared with respect to mean-squared error (mse) criterion. Finally, the performance of the new estimator is evaluated for a real data set. Monte Carlo simulation is given to show the improvement in the scalar mse of the estimator.  相似文献

In nonparametric regression, it is often needed to detect whether there are jump discontinuities in the mean function. In this paper, we revisit the difference-based method in [13] and propose to further improve it. To achieve the goal, we first reveal that their method is less efficient due to the inappropriate choice of the response variable in their linear regression model. We then propose a new regression model for estimating the residual variance and the total amount of discontinuities simultaneously. In both theory and simulation, we show that the proposed variance estimator has a smaller mean-squared error compared to the existing estimator, whereas the estimation efficiency for the total amount of discontinuities remains unchanged. Finally, we construct a new test procedure for detection of discontinuities using the proposed method; and via simulation studies, we demonstrate that our new test procedure outperforms the existing one in most settings.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalized difference-based estimator is introduced for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model when the errors are correlated. A generalized difference-based Liu estimator is defined for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model. Under the linear nonstochastic constraint Rβ=r, the generalized restricted difference-based Liu estimator is given. The risk function for the β?GRD(η) associated with weighted balanced loss function is presented. The performance of the proposed estimators is evaluated by a simulated data set.  相似文献

Difference-based ridge estimator of parameters in partial linear model   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The paper introduces a new difference-based ridge regression estimator [^(b)](k){\hat{\beta}(k)} of the regression parameters β in the partial linear model. Its mean-squared error is compared analytically with the non-ridge version [^(b)](0){\hat{\beta}(0)} . Finally, the performance of the new estimator is evaluated for a real data set.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a commonly used partially linear model. We proposed a restricted difference-based ridge estimator for the vector of parameters β in a partially linear model with one smoothing term when additional linear restrictions on the parameter vector are assumed to hold. The ideas in the paper are illustrated in a real data set and in a Monte Carlo simulation study.  相似文献

This paper deals with parameter estimation in the linear regression model and an almost unbiased two-parameter estimator is introduced. The performance of this new estimator over the ordinary least-squares estimator and the two-parameter estimator [M.R. Özkale and S. Kaçiranlar, The restricted and unrestricted two-parameter estimator, Comm. Statist. Theory Methods 36 (2007), pp. 2707–2725] in terms of scalar mean-squared error criterion is investigated and a simulation study is done.  相似文献

In this article, a generalized restricted difference-based ridge estimator is defined for the vector parameter in a partial linear model when the errors are dependent. It is suspected that some additional linear constraints may hold on to the whole parameter space. The estimator is a generalization of the well-known restricted least-squares estimator and is confined to the (affine) subspace which is generated by the restrictions. The risk functions of the proposed estimators are derived under balanced loss function. Finally, the performance of the new estimators is evaluated by a simulated data set.  相似文献

It is known that when the multicollinearity exists in the logistic regression model, variance of maximum likelihood estimator is unstable. As a remedy, Schaefer et al. presented a ridge estimator in the logistic regression model. Making use of the ridge estimator, when some linear restrictions are also present, we introduce a restricted ridge estimator in the logistic regression model. Statistical properties of this newly defined estimator will be studied and comparisons are done in the simulation study in the sense of mean squared error criterion. A real-data example and a simulation study are introduced to discuss the performance of this estimator.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalized difference-based estimator is introduced for the vector parameter β in partially linear model when the errors are correlated. A generalized-difference-based almost unbiased two-parameter estimator is defined for the vector parameter β. Under the linear stochastic constraint r = Rβ + e, we introduce a new generalized-difference-based weighted mixed almost unbiased two-parameter estimator. The performance of this new estimator over the generalized-difference-based estimator and generalized- difference-based almost unbiased two-parameter estimator in terms of the MSEM criterion is investigated. The efficiency properties of the new estimator is illustrated by a simulation study. Finally, the performance of the new estimator is evaluated for a real dataset.  相似文献

In the presence of collinearity certain biased estimation procedures like ridge regression, generalized inverse estimator, principal component regression, Liu estimator, or improved ridge and Liu estimators are used to improve the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimates in the linear regression model. In this paper new biased estimator (Liu estimator), almost unbiased (improved) Liu estimator and their residuals will be analyzed and compared with OLS residuals in terms of mean-squared error.  相似文献

In this article, a two-parameter estimator is proposed to combat multicollinearity in the negative binomial regression model. The proposed two-parameter estimator is a general estimator which includes the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, the ridge estimator (RE) and the Liu estimator as special cases. Some properties on the asymptotic mean-squared error (MSE) are derived and necessary and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the two-parameter estimator over the ML estimator and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the two-parameter estimator over the RE and the Liu estimator in the asymptotic mean-squared error (MSE) matrix sense are obtained. Furthermore, several methods and three rules for choosing appropriate shrinkage parameters are proposed. Finally, a Monte Carlo simulation study is given to illustrate some of the theoretical results.  相似文献

Özkale and Kaçiranlar introduced the restricted two-parameter estimator (RTPE) to deal with the well-known multicollinearity problem in linear regression model. In this paper, the restricted almost unbiased two-parameter estimator (RAUTPE) based on the RTPE is presented. The quadratic bias and mean-squared error of the proposed estimator is discussed and compared with the corresponding competitors in literatures. Furthermore, a numerical example and a Monte Carlo simulation study are given to explain some of the theoretical results.  相似文献

In 2005 Lipovetsky and Conklin proposed an estimator, the two parameter ridge estimator (TRE), as an alternative to the ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE) and the ordinary ridge estimator (RE) in the presence of multicollinearity, and in 2006 Lipovetsky improved the two parameter model. In this paper, we introduce two new estimators, one of which is the modified two parameter ridge estimator (MTRE) defined by following Swindel's paper of 1976. The other one is the restricted two parameter ridge estimator (RTRE) which is derived by setting additional linear restrictions on the parameter vectors. This estimator is a generalization of the restricted least squares estimator (RLSE) and includes the restricted ridge estimator (RRE) proposed by Groß in 2003. A numerical example is provided and a simulation study is conducted for the comparisons of the RTRE with the OLSE, RLSE, RE, RRE and TRE.  相似文献

In this article, the restricted rk class estimator and restricted rd class estimator are introduced, which are general estimators of the rk class estimator by Baye and Parker [Combining ridge and principal component regression: A money demand illustration, Commun. Stat. Theory Methods 13(2) (1984), pp. 197–205] and the rd class estimator by Kaç?ranlar and Sakall?o?lu [Combining the Liu estimator and the principal component regression estimator, Commun. Stat. Theory Methods 30(12) (2001), pp. 2699–2705], respectively. For the two cases when the restrictions are true and not true, the superiority of the restricted rk class estimator and rd class estimator over the restricted ridge regression estimator by Sarkar [A new estimator combining the ridge regression and the restricted least squares methods of estimation, Commun. Stat. Theory Methods 21 (1992), pp. 1987–2000] and the restricted Liu estimator by Kaç?ranlar et al. [A new biased estimator in linear regression and a detailed analysis of the widely analysed dataset on Portland cement, Sankhya - Indian J. Stat. 61B(3) (1999), pp. 443–459] are discussed with respect to the mean squared error matrix criterion. Furthermore, a Monte Carlo evaluation of the estimators is given to illustrate some of the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a stochastic restricted kd class estimator for the vector of parameters in a linear model when additional linear restrictions on the parameter vector are assumed to hold. The stochastic restricted kd class estimator is a generalization of the ordinary mixed estimator and the kd class estimator. We show that our new biased estimator is superior in the mean squared error matrix sense to the kd class estimator [S. Sakall?o?lu and S. Kaçiranlar, A new biased estimator based on ridge estimation, Statist. Papers 49 (2008), pp. 669–689] and the stochastic restricted Liu estimator [H. Yang and J.W. Xu, An alternative stochastic restricted Liu estimator in linear regression, Statist. Papers 50 (2009), pp. 639–647]. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this article, we study the ridge estimator and Liu estimator with respect to linear equality restriction, and establish some sufficient conditions for the superiority of the restricted ridge estimator over the restricted Liu estimator and the superiority of the restricted Liu estimator over the restricted ridge estimator under mean squared error matrix, respectively. Furthermore, we give a numerical example.  相似文献

The two parameter estimator proposed by Özkale and Kaç?ranlar [The restricted and unrestricted two parameter estimators. Comm Statist Theory Methods. 2007;36(15):2707–2725] is a general estimator which includes the ordinary least squares, the ridge and the Liu estimators as special cases. In the present paper we introduce Almon two parameter estimator based on the two parameter estimation procedure to deal with the problem of multicollinearity for the distiributed lag models. This estimator outperforms the Almon estimator according to the matrix mean square error criterion. Moreover, a numerical example and a Monte Carlo simulation experiment are presented by using different estimators of the biasing parameters.  相似文献

In the context of ridge regression, the estimation of shrinkage parameter plays an important role in analyzing data. Many efforts have been put to develop the computation of risk function in different full-parametric ridge regression approaches using eigenvalues and then bringing an efficient estimator of shrinkage parameter based on them. In this respect, the estimation of shrinkage parameter is neglected for semiparametric regression model. Not restricted, but the main focus of this approach is to develop necessary tools for computing the risk function of regression coefficient based on the eigenvalues of design matrix in semiparametric regression. For this purpose the differencing methodology is applied. We also propose a new estimator for shrinkage parameter which is of harmonic type mean of ridge estimators. It is shown that this estimator performs better than all the existing ones for the regression coefficient. For our proposal, a Monte Carlo simulation study and a real dataset analysis related to housing attributes are conducted to illustrate the efficiency of shrinkage estimators based on the minimum risk and mean squared error criteria.  相似文献
