In this paper, we consider a k-level step-stress accelerated life-testing (ALT) experiment with unequal duration steps τ=(τ1, …, τ k ). Censoring is allowed only at the change-stress point in the final stage. A general log-location-scale lifetime distribution with mean life which is a linear function of stress, along with a cumulative exposure model, is considered as the working model. Under this model, the determination of the optimal choice of τ for both Weibull and lognormal distributions are addressed using the variance–optimality criterion. Numerical results show that for a general log-location-scale distributions, the optimal k-step-stress ALT model with unequal duration steps reduces just to a 2-level step-stress ALT model.  相似文献

By running the life tests at higher stress levels than normal operating conditions, accelerated life testing quickly yields information on the lifetime distribution of a test unit. The lifetime at the design stress is then estimated through extrapolation using a regression model. In constant-stress testing, a unit is tested at a fixed stress level until failure or the termination time point of the test, while step-stress testing allows the experimenter to gradually increase the stress levels at some pre-fixed time points during the test. In this article, the optimal k-level constant-stress and step-stress accelerated life tests are compared for the exponential failure data under Type-I censoring. The objective is to quantify the advantage of using the step-stress testing relative to the constant-stress one. A log-linear relationship between the mean lifetime parameter and stress level is assumed and the cumulative exposure model holds for the effect of changing stress in step-stress testing. The optimal design point is then determined under C-optimality, D-optimality, and A-optimality criteria. The efficiency of step-stress testing compared to constant-stress testing is discussed in terms of the ratio of optimal objective functions based on the information matrix.  相似文献

In this paper, a k  -step-stress accelerated life-testing is considered with an equal step duration ττ. For small to moderate sample sizes, a practical modification is made to the model previously considered by Gouno et al. [2004. Optimal step-stress test under progressive Type-I censoring. IEEE Trans. Reliability 53, 383–393] in order to guarantee a feasible k  -step-stress test under progressive Type-I censoring, and the optimal ττ is determined under this model. Next, we discuss the determination of optimal ττ under the condition that the step-stress test proceeds to the k  -th stress level, and the efficiency of this conditional inference is compared to that of the previous case. In all cases considered, censoring is allowed at each point of stress change (viz., iτiτ, i=1,2,…,ki=1,2,,k). The determination of optimal ττ is discussed under C-optimality, D-optimality, and A-optimality criteria. We investigate in detail the case of progressively Type-I right censored data from an exponential distribution with a single stress variable.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain some results for the asymptotic behavior of the tail probability of a random sum Sτ = ∑τk = 1Xk, where the summands Xk, k = 1, 2, …, are conditionally dependent random variables with a common subexponential distribution F, and the random number τ is a non negative integer-valued random variable, independent of {Xk: k ? 1}.  相似文献

This article considers a k level step-stress accelerated life testing (ALT) on series system products, where independent Weibull-distributed lifetimes are assumed for the components. Due to cost considerations or environmental restrictions, causes of system failures are masked and type-I censored observations might occur in the collected data. Bayesian approach combined with auxiliary variables is developed for estimating the parameters of the model. Further, the reliability and hazard rate functions of the system and components are estimated at a specified time at use stress level. The proposed method is illustrated through a numerical example based on two priors and various masking probabilities.  相似文献

In this article, we focus on the general k-step step-stress accelerated life tests with Type-I censoring for two-parameter Weibull distributions based on the tampered failure rate (TFR) model. We get the optimum design for the tests under the criterion of the minimization of the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimate of the pth percentile of the lifetime under the normal operating conditions. Optimum test plans for the simple step-stress accelerated life tests under Type-I censoring are developed for the Weibull distribution and the exponential distribution in particular. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the proposed design and a sensitivity analysis is conducted to investigate the robustness of the design.  相似文献

The cumulative exposure model (CEM) is a commonly used statistical model utilized to analyze data from a step-stress accelerated life testing which is a special class of accelerated life testing (ALT). In practice, researchers conduct ALT to: (1) determine the effects of extreme levels of stress factors (e.g., temperature) on the life distribution, and (2) to gain information on the parameters of the life distribution more rapidly than under normal operating (or environmental) conditions. In literature, researchers assume that the CEM is from well-known distributions, such as the Weibull family. This study, on the other hand, considers a p-step-stress model with q stress factors from the two-parameter Birnbaum-Saunders distribution when there is a time constraint on the duration of the experiment. In this comparison paper, we consider different frameworks to numerically compute the point estimation for the unknown parameters of the CEM using the maximum likelihood theory. Each framework implements at least one optimization method; therefore, numerical examples and extensive Monte Carlo simulations are considered to compare and numerically examine the performance of the considered estimation frameworks.  相似文献

A method of calculating simultaneous one-sided confidence intervals for all ordered pairwise differences of the treatment effectsji, 1 i < j k, in a one-way model without any distributional assumptions is discussed. When it is known a priori that the treatment effects satisfy the simple ordering1k, these simultaneous confidence intervals offer the experimenter a simple way of determining which treatment effects may be declared to be unequal, and is more powerful than the usual two-sided Steel-Dwass procedure. Some exact critical points required by the confidence intervals are presented for k= 3 and small sample sizes, and other methods of critical point determination such as asymptotic approximation and simulation are discussed.  相似文献

Some traditional life tests result in no or very few failures by the end of test. In such cases, one approach is to do life testing at higher-than-usual stress conditions in order to obtain failures quickly. This paper discusses a k-level step-stress accelerated life test under type I progressive group-censoring with random removals. An exponential failure time distribution with mean life that is a log-linear function of stress and a cumulative exposure model are considered. We derive the maximum likelihood estimators of the model parameters and establish the asymptotic properties of the estimators. We investigate four selection criteria which enable us to obtain the optimum test plans. One is to minimize the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimator of the logarithm of the mean lifetime at use-condition, and the other three criteria are to maximize the determinant, trace and the smallest eigenvalue of Fisher's information matrix. Some numerical studies are discussed to illustrate the proposed criteria.  相似文献

In a one-way fixed effects analysis of variance model, when normal variances are unknown and possibly unequal, a one-sided range test for testing the null hypothesis H 0 : μ 1 = … = μk against an ordered alternative Ha : μ 1 ≤ … ≤ μk by a single-stage and a two-stage procedure, respectively, is proposed. The critical values under H 0 and the power under a specific alternative are calculated. Relation between the one-stage and the two-stage test procedures is discussed. A numerical example to illustrate these procedures is given.  相似文献

A generalized k-out-of-n system consists of N modules in which the i th module is composed of ni components in parallel. The system failswhen at least f components in the whole system or at least k consecutive modules have failed. In this article, we obtain the mean residual life function of such a generalized k-out-of-n system under different conditions, namely, when the number of components in each module is equal or unequal and when the components of the system are independent or exchangeable.  相似文献

Let π1, …, πk be k (? 2) independent populations, where πi denotes the uniform distribution over the interval (0, θi) and θi > 0 (i = 1, …, k) is an unknown scale parameter. The population associated with the largest scale parameter is called the best population. For selecting the best population, We use a selection rule based on the natural estimators of θi, i = 1, …, k, for the case of unequal sample sizes. Consider the problem of estimating the scale parameter θL of the selected uniform population when sample sizes are unequal and the loss is measured by the squared log error (SLE) loss function. We derive the uniformly minimum risk unbiased (UMRU) estimator of θL under the SLE loss function and two natural estimators of θL are also studied. For k = 2, we derive a sufficient condition for inadmissibility of an estimator of θL. Using these condition, we conclude that the UMRU estimator and natural estimator are inadmissible. Finally, the risk functions of various competing estimators of θL are compared through simulation.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Least squares estimator of the stability parameter ? ? |α| + |β| for a spatial unilateral autoregressive process Xk, ? = αXk ? 1, ? + βXk, ? ? 1 + ?k, ? is investigated and asymptotic normality with a scaling factor n5/4 is shown in the unstable case ? = 1. The result is in contrast to the unit root case of the AR(p) model Xk = α1Xk ? 1 + ??? + αpXk ? p + ?k, where the limiting distribution of the least squares estimator of the unit root parameter ? ? α1 + ??? + αp is not normal.  相似文献

We consider the regression model yi = ?(xi ) + ε in which the function ? or its pth derivative ?(p) may have a discontinuity at some unknown point τ. By fitting local polynomials from the left and right, we test the null that ?(p) is continuous against the alternative that ?(p)(τ?) ≠ ?(p)(τ+). We obtain Darling-Erdös type limit theorems for the test statistics under the null hypothesis of no change, as well as their limits in probability under the alternative. Consistency of the related change-point estimators is also established.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Many mathematical and physical problems are led to find a root of a real function f. This kind of equation is an inverse problem and it is difficult to solve it. Especially in engineering sciences, the analytical expression of the function f is unknown to the experimenter, but it can be measured at each point xk with M(xk) as expected value and induced error ξk. The aim is to approximate the unique root θ under some assumptions on the function f and errors ξk. We use a stochastic approximation algorithm that constructs a sequence (xk)k ? 1. We establish the almost complete convergence of the sequence (xk)k to the exact root θ by considering the errors (ξk)k quasi-associated and we illustrate the method by numerical examples to show its efficiency.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In many real life problems one assumes a normal model because the sample histogram looks unimodal, symmetric, and/or the standard tests like the Shapiro-Wilk test favor such a model. However, in reality, the assumption of normality may be misplaced since the normality tests often fail to detect departure from normality (especially for small sample sizes) when the data actually comes from slightly heavier tail symmetric unimodal distributions. For this reason it is important to see how the existing normal variance estimators perform when the actual distribution is a t-distribution with k degrees of freedom (d.f.) (t k -distribution). This note deals with the performance of standard normal variance estimators under the t k -distributions. It is shown that the relative ordering of the estimators is preserved for both the quadratic loss as well as the entropy loss irrespective of the d.f. and the sample size (provided the risks exist).  相似文献

This paper derives the exact confidence intervals for the exponential step-stress accelerated life-testing model as well as the approximate confidence intervals for the k-step exponential step-stress accelerated life-testing model under progressive Type-II censoring. A Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to examine the performance of these confidence intervals. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the proposed procedures.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article, we consider a (k + 1)n-dimensional elliptically contoured random vector (XT1, X2T, …, XTk, ZT)T = (X11, …, X1n, …, Xk1, …, Xkn, Z1, …, Zn)T and derive the distribution of concomitant of multivariate order statistics arising from X1, X2, …, Xk. Specially, we derive a mixture representation for concomitant of bivariate order statistics. The joint distribution of the concomitant of bivariate order statistics is also obtained. Finally, the usefulness of our result is illustrated by a real-life data.  相似文献

Abstract

We study optimal block designs for comparing a set of test treatments with a control treatment. We provide the class of all E-optimal approximate block designs, which is characterized by simple linear constraints. Based on this characterization, we obtain a class of E-optimal exact designs for unequal block sizes. In the studied model, we provide a statistical interpretation for wide classes of E-optimal designs. Moreover, we show that all approximate A-optimal designs and a large class of A-optimal exact designs for treatment-control comparisons are also R-optimal. This reinforces the observation that A-optimal designs perform well even for rectangular confidence regions.  相似文献

Finite mixture models arise in a natural way in that they are modeling unobserved population heterogeneity. It is assumed that the population consists of an unknown number k of subpopulations with parameters λ1, ..., λk receiving weights p1, ..., pk. Because of the irregularity of the parameter space, the log-likelihood-ratio statistic (LRS) does not have a (χ2) limit distribution and therefore it is difficult to use the LRS to test for the number of components. These problems are circumvented by using the nonparametric bootstrap such that the mixture algorithm is applied B times to bootstrap samples obtained from the original sample with replacement. The number of components k is obtained as the mode of the bootstrap distribution of k. This approach is presented using the Times newspaper data and investigated in a simulation study for mixtures of Poisson data.  相似文献
