Extensions of recent results for detection of mean slippage type outliers from i.i.d. multivariate normal and elliptically symmetric distributions are made to symmetric case, that is, when the observations are equicorrelated. The main tool used is Wijsman's (1967) representation theorem. The results obtained can be viewed as a robustness property of the use of Mardia's multivariate kurtosis as a locally optimal test statistic to detect outliers against equicorrelated distributions.  相似文献

In this article we suggest multivariate kurtosis as a statistic for detection of outliers in a multivariate linear regression model. The statistic has some local optimality properties.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, we propose maximum entropy in the mean methods for propensity score matching classification problems. We provide a new methodological approach and estimation algorithms to handle explicitly cases when data is available: (i) in interval form; (ii) with bounded measurement or observational errors; or (iii) both as intervals and with bounded errors. We show that entropy in the mean methods for these three cases generally outperform benchmark error-free approaches.  相似文献

Null as well as alternative distributions of two types of statistics used to test for multiple outliers in exponential samples are obtained. Of these two types one is based on the ratio of sum of the observations suspected to be outliers to sum of the sample observations and the other is Dixon's type. Powers of the tests based on these statistics are compared.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the inference of suitable generally non linear functions in stochastic volatility models. In this context, in order to estimate the variance of the proposed estimators, a moving block bootstrap (MBB) approach is suggested and discussed. Under mild assumptions, we show that the MBB procedure is weakly consistent. Moreover, a methodology to choose the optimal length block in the MBB is proposed. Some examples and simulations on the model are also made to show the performance of the proposed procedure.  相似文献

In this paper, asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) of Wald tests for the Tweedie class of models with log-linear mean, is considered when the aux¬iliary variable is measured with error. Wald test statistics based on the naive maximum likelihood estimator and on a consistent estimator which is obtained by using Nakarnura's (1990) corrected score function approach are defined. As shown analytically, the Wald statistics based on the naive and corrected score function estimators are asymptotically equivalents in terms of ARE. On the other hand, the asymptotic relative efficiency of the naive and corrected Wald statistic with respect to the Wald statistic based on the true covariate equals to the square of the correlation between the unobserved and the observed co-variate. A small scale numerical Monte Carlo study and an example illustrate the small sample size situation.  相似文献

We propose tests for parameter constancy in the time series direction in panel data models. We construct a locally best invariant test based on Tanaka [Time series analysis: nonstationary and noninvertible distribution theory. New York: Wiley; 1996] and an asymptotically point optimal test based on Elliott and Müller [Efficient tests for general persistent time variation in regression coefficients. Rev Econ Stud. 2006;73:907–940]. We derive the limiting distributions of the test statistics as T→∞ while N is fixed, and calculate the critical values by applying numerical integration and response surface regression. Simulation results show that the proposed tests perform well if we apply them appropriately.  相似文献

In regression analysis, a sample selection scheme often applies to the response variable, which results in missing not at random observations on the variable. In this case, a regression analysis using only the selected cases would lead to biased results. This paper proposes a Bayesian methodology to correct this bias based on a semiparametric Bernstein polynomial regression model that incorporates the sample selection scheme into a stochastic monotone trend constraint, variable selection, and robustness against departures from the normality assumption. We present the basic theoretical properties of the proposed model that include its stochastic representation, sample selection bias quantification, and hierarchical model specification to deal with the stochastic monotone trend constraint in the nonparametric component, simple bias corrected estimation, and variable selection for the linear components. We then develop computationally feasible Markov chain Monte Carlo methods for semiparametric Bernstein polynomial functions with stochastically constrained parameter estimation and variable selection procedures. We demonstrate the finite-sample performance of the proposed model compared to existing methods using simulation studies and illustrate its use based on two real data applications.  相似文献

This paper considers the detection problem of variance changes for the time series involving abrupt and/or smooth breaks in mean. Often, in these situations, the tests of choice are based on cumulative sum of squares statistics. We show that the test statistics are not robust in the presence of broken mean and their sizes suffer severe distortions. The adjusted residual-based method is then proposed to eliminate these deficiencies and makes a significant improvement. Finally, simulation results confirm the validity of these modified test statistics, and an empirical data analysis using some stock price series from the Shanghai Stock Exchange is reported.  相似文献

The problem of determining the number of variables to be included in the linear regression model is considered under the assumption that the dependent and independent variables have a joint normal distribution. It is shown that for a given sample size n there exists an optimal number k0 (0 ≤ k0 < n-2) of variables among all independent variables in the model, such that the expectation of the mean squared error corresponding to the prediction equation with k0 variables is minimal.Application of this result to ustepwise procedures is discussed.  相似文献

Exact confidence interval estimation for accelerated life regression models with censored smallest extreme value (or Weibull) data is often impractical. This paper evaluates the accuracy of approximate confidence intervals based on the asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimator, the asymptotic X2distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic, mean and variance correction to the likelihood ratio statistic, and the so-called Bartlett correction to the likelihood ratio statistic. The Monte Carlo evaluations under various degrees of time censoring show that uncorrected likelihood ratio intervals are very accurate in situations with heavy censoring. The benefits of mean and variance correction to the likelihood ratio statistic are only realized with light or no censoring. Bartlett correction tends to result in conservative intervals. Intervals based on the asymptotic normality of maximum likelihood estimators are anticonservative and should be used with much caution.  相似文献

We propose to perform model check for the Cox and Aalen regression models using martingale residual processes grouped after the risk score. Asymptotic distributions of the grouped martingale residual processes are deduced, so both formal and graphical model check can be performed. The method is validated by stochastic simulation. A data example with patients with primary biliary cirrhosis of the liver is discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we extend a variance shift model, previously considered in the linear mixed models, to the linear mixed measurement error models using the corrected likelihood of Nakamura (1990 Nakamura, T. (1990). Corrected score function for errors in variables models: methodology and application to generalized linear models. Biometrika 77:127137.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). This model assumes that a single outlier arises from an observation with inflated variance. We derive the score test and the analogue of the likelihood ratio test, to assess whether the ith observation has inflated variance. A parametric bootstrap procedure is implemented to obtain empirical distributions of the test statistics. Finally, results of a simulation study and an example of real data are presented to illustrate the performance of proposed tests.  相似文献

Wei et al. [B.C. Wei, J.Q. Shi, W.K. Fung, and Y.Q. Hu, Testing for varying dispersion in exponential family nonlinear models, Ann. Inst. Statist. Math. 50 (1998), pp. 277–294.] developed the score diagnostics for varying dispersion in exponential family nonlinear models, such as the normal, inverse Gaussian, and gamma models, and investigated the powers of these tests through Monte Carlo simulations. In this paper, the asymptotic behaviours, including asymptotic chi-square and approximate powers under local alternatives of the score tests, are studied and examined by Monte Carlo simulations. The methods to estimate local powers of the score tests are illustrated with Grass yield data [P. McCullagh, and J.A. Nelder, Generalized Linear Models, Chapman and Hall, London (1989).].  相似文献

Abstract

Fourier methods are proposed for testing the distribution of random effects in classical and robust multivariate mixed effects models. The test statistics involve estimation of the characteristic function of random effects. Theoretical and computational issues are addressed while Monte Carlo results show that the new procedures compare favorably with other methods.  相似文献

This paper proposes tests for equality of intercepts of two simple regression models when non sample prior information is available on the equality of two slopes. For three different scenarios on the values of the slope, namely (i) unknown (unspecified), (ii) known (specified), and (iii) suspected, we derive the unrestricted test (UT), restricted test (RT), and pre-test test (PTT) for testing the equality of intercepts. The test statistics, their sampling distributions, and power functions of the tests are obtained. Comparison of power function and size of the tests reveals that the PTT has a reasonable dominance over the UT and RT.  相似文献

The MINQUE and its modifications are considered for estimating the variances of the balanced one-way random effects model. The effects of the a priori values on the estimators of the variances are examined in detail. The Mean Square Errors of the estimators are compared for variations in the prior values of the unknown variances.  相似文献

In many practical situation the regression analysis with stochastic regressors is used. The estimations of this model are often influenced by a high degree of multicollinearity. For avoidance of this fact a criterion and a procedure for the selection of an optimal subset for regression will be derived on the base of the partition of the moments of the conditional normal distribution of the regressand under the condition of the regressors. Further two stage procedures improving the result of the subset regression. based also on the partition of the conditional moments will be given.  相似文献
