This paper investigates the quantile residual life regression based on semi-competing risk data. Because the terminal event time dependently censors the non-terminal event time, the inference on the non-terminal event time is not available without extra assumption. Therefore, we assume that the non-terminal event time and the terminal event time follow an Archimedean copula. Then, we apply the inverse probability weight technique to construct an estimating equation of quantile residual life regression coefficients. But, the estimating equation may not be continuous in coefficients. Thus, we apply the generalized solution approach to overcome this problem. Since the variance estimation of the proposed estimator is difficult to obtain, we use the bootstrap resampling method to estimate it. From simulations, it shows the performance of the proposed method is well. Finally, we analyze the Bone Marrow Transplant data for illustrations.  相似文献

Semi-competing risks data arise when two types of events, non-terminal and terminal, may be observed. When the terminal event occurs first, it censors the non-terminal event. Otherwise the terminal event is observable after the occurrence of the non-terminal event. In practice, it can be hard to ascertain all terminal event information after the non-terminal event. Yu and Yiannoutsos [(2015), ‘Marginal and Conditional Distribution Estimation from Double-Sampled Semi-Competing Risks Data’, Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, 42, 87–103] considered a setting when the terminal event is ascertained via double sampling from only a subset of patients who experienced the non-terminal event. They discussed estimation for marginal and conditional distributions under this double sampled semi-competing risk data framework. We propose a more efficient estimation method in the same setting by fully utilising the non-terminal event information. The efficiency gain can be substantial as observed in our simulation study.  相似文献

For many forms of cancer, patients will receive the initial regimen of treatments, then experience cancer progression and eventually die of the disease. Understanding the disease process in patients with cancer is essential in clinical, epidemiological and translational research. One challenge in analyzing such data is that death dependently censors cancer progression (e.g., recurrence), whereas progression does not censor death. We deal with the informative censoring by first selecting a suitable copula model through an exploratory diagnostic approach and then developing an inference procedure to simultaneously estimate the marginal survival function of cancer relapse and an association parameter in the copula model. We show that the proposed estimators possess consistency and weak convergence. We use simulation studies to evaluate the finite sample performance of the proposed method, and illustrate it through an application to data from a study of early stage breast cancer.  相似文献

A semi-competing risks setting often arises in biomedical studies, involving both a nonterminal event and a terminal event. Cross quantile residual ratio (Yang and Peng in Biometrics 72:770–779, 2016) offers a flexible and robust perspective to study the dependency between the nonterminal and the terminal events which can shed useful scientific insight. In this paper, we propose a new nonparametric estimator of this dependence measure with left truncated semi-competing risks data. The new estimator overcomes the limitation of the existing estimator that is resulted from demanding a strong assumption on the truncation mechanism. We establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator and develop inference procedures accordingly. Simulation studies suggest good finite-sample performance of the proposed method. Our proposal is illustrated via an application to Denmark diabetes registry data.  相似文献

Medical studies often involve semi-competing risks data, which consist of two types of events, namely terminal event and non-terminal event. Because the non-terminal event may be dependently censored by the terminal event, it is not possible to make inference on the non-terminal event without extra assumptions. Therefore, this study assumes that the dependence structure on the non-terminal event and the terminal event follows a copula model, and lets the marginal regression models of the non-terminal event and the terminal event both follow time-varying effect models. This study uses a conditional likelihood approach to estimate the time-varying coefficient of the non-terminal event, and proves the large sample properties of the proposed estimator. Simulation studies show that the proposed estimator performs well. This study also uses the proposed method to analyze AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG 320).  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the quantile regression analysis for semi-competing risks data in which a non-terminal event may be dependently censored by a terminal event. Due to the dependent censoring, the estimation of quantile regression coefficients on the non-terminal event becomes difficult. In order to handle this problem, we assume Archimedean Copula to specify the dependence of the non-terminal event and the terminal event. Portnoy [Censored regression quantiles. J Amer Statist Assoc. 2003;98:1001–1012] considered the quantile regression model under right-censoring data. We extend his approach to construct a weight function, and then impose the weight function to estimate the quantile regression parameter for the non-terminal event under semi-competing risks data. We also prove the consistency and asymptotic properties for the proposed estimator. According to the simulation studies, the performance of our proposed method is good. We also apply our suggested approach to analyse a real data.  相似文献

Motivated from a colorectal cancer study, we propose a class of frailty semi-competing risks survival models to account for the dependence between disease progression time, survival time, and treatment switching. Properties of the proposed models are examined and an efficient Gibbs sampling algorithm using the collapsed Gibbs technique is developed. A Bayesian procedure for assessing the treatment effect is also proposed. The deviance information criterion (DIC) with an appropriate deviance function and Logarithm of the pseudomarginal likelihood (LPML) are constructed for model comparison. A simulation study is conducted to examine the empirical performance of DIC and LPML and as well as the posterior estimates. The proposed method is further applied to analyze data from a colorectal cancer study.  相似文献

Frailty models for survival data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A frailty model is a random effects model for time variables, where the random effect (the frailty) has a multiplicative effect on the hazard. It can be used for univariate (independent) failure times, i.e. to describe the influence of unobserved covariates in a proportional hazards model. More interesting, however, is to consider multivariate (dependent) failure times generated as conditionally independent times given the frailty. This approach can be used both for survival times for individuals, like twins or family members, and for repeated events for the same individual. The standard assumption is to use a gamma distribution for the frailty, but this is a restriction that implies that the dependence is most important for late events. More generally, the distribution can be stable, inverse Gaussian, or follow a power variance function exponential family. Theoretically, large differences are seen between the choices. In practice, using the largest model makes it possible to allow for more general dependence structures, without making the formulas too complicated. This paper is a revised version of a review, which together with ten papers by the author made up a thesis for a Doctor of Science degree at the University of Copenhagen.  相似文献

In semi-competing risks one considers a terminal event, such as death of a person, and a non-terminal event, such as disease recurrence. We present a model where the time to the terminal event is the first passage time to a fixed level c in a stochastic process, while the time to the non-terminal event is represented by the first passage time of the same process to a stochastic threshold S, assumed to be independent of the stochastic process. In order to be explicit, we let the stochastic process be a gamma process, but other processes with independent increments may alternatively be used. For semi-competing risks this appears to be a new modeling approach, being an alternative to traditional approaches based on illness-death models and copula models. In this paper we consider a fully parametric approach. The likelihood function is derived and statistical inference in the model is illustrated on both simulated and real data.  相似文献

Alternating logistic regressions (ALRs) seem to offer some of the advantages of marginal models estimated via generalized estimating equations (GEE) and generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs). Via simulation study we compared ALRs to marginal models estimated via GEE and subject-specific models estimated via GLMMs, with a focus on estimation of the correlation structure in three-level data sets (e.g. students in classes in schools). Data set size and structure, and amount of correlation in the data sets were varied. For simple correlation structures, ALRs performed well. For three-level correlation structures, all approaches, but especially ALRs, had difficulty assigning the correlation to the correct level, though sample sizes used were small. In addition, ALRs and GEEs had trouble attaching correct inference to the mean effects, though this improved as overall sample size improved. ALRs are a valuable addition to the data analyst's toolkit, though care should be taken when modelling data with three-level structures.  相似文献

In HIV vaccine studies, longitudinal immune response biomarker data are often left-censored due to lower limits of quantification of the employed immunological assays. The censoring information is important for predicting HIV infection, the failure event of interest. We propose two approaches to addressing left censoring in longitudinal data: one that makes no distributional assumptions for the censored data—treating left censored values as a “point mass” subgroup—and the other makes a distributional assumption for a subset of the censored data but not for the remaining subset. We develop these two approaches to handling censoring for joint modelling of longitudinal and survival data via a Cox proportional hazards model fit by h-likelihood. We evaluate the new methods via simulation and analyze an HIV vaccine trial data set, finding that longitudinal characteristics of the immune response biomarkers are highly associated with the risk of HIV infection.

ABSTRACT

Incremental modelling of data streams is of great practical importance, as shown by its applications in advertising and financial data analysis. We propose two incremental covariance matrix decomposition methods for a compositional data type. The first method, exact incremental covariance decomposition of compositional data (C-EICD), gives an exact decomposition result. The second method, covariance-free incremental covariance decomposition of compositional data (C-CICD), is an approximate algorithm that can efficiently compute high-dimensional cases. Based on these two methods, many frequently used compositional statistical models can be incrementally calculated. We take multiple linear regression and principle component analysis as examples to illustrate the utility of the proposed methods via extensive simulation studies.  相似文献

In several applied disciplines, as Economics, Marketing, Business, Sociology, Psychology, Political science, Environmental research and Medicine, it is common to collect data in the form of ordered categorical observations. In this paper, we introduce a class of models based on mixtures of discrete random variables in order to specify a general framework for the statistical analysis of this kind of data. The structure of these models allows the interpretation of the final response as related to feeling, uncertainty and a possible shelter option and the expression of the relationship among these components and subjects’ covariates. Such a model may be effectively estimated by maximum likelihood methods leading to asymptotically efficient inference. We present a simulation experiment and discuss a real case study to check the consistency and the usefulness of the approach. Some final considerations conclude the paper.  相似文献

Multiple-bias modelling for analysis of observational data   总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0
Summary.  Conventional analytic results do not reflect any source of uncertainty other than random error, and as a result readers must rely on informal judgments regarding the effect of possible biases. When standard errors are small these judgments often fail to capture sources of uncertainty and their interactions adequately. Multiple-bias models provide alternatives that allow one systematically to integrate major sources of uncertainty, and thus to provide better input to research planning and policy analysis. Typically, the bias parameters in the model are not identified by the analysis data and so the results depend completely on priors for those parameters. A Bayesian analysis is then natural, but several alternatives based on sensitivity analysis have appeared in the risk assessment and epidemiologic literature. Under some circumstances these methods approximate a Bayesian analysis and can be modified to do so even better. These points are illustrated with a pooled analysis of case–control studies of residential magnetic field exposure and childhood leukaemia, which highlights the diminishing value of conventional studies conducted after the early 1990s. It is argued that multiple-bias modelling should become part of the core training of anyone who will be entrusted with the analysis of observational data, and should become standard procedure when random error is not the only important source of uncertainty (as in meta-analysis and pooled analysis).  相似文献

Interval censoring appears when the event of interest is only known to have occurred within a random time interval. Estimation and hypothesis testing procedures for interval-censored data are surveyed. We distinguish between frequentist and Bayesian approaches. Computational aspects for every proposed method are described and solutions with S-Plus, whenever are feasible, are mentioned. Three real data sets are analyzed.  相似文献

There have been many methodologies developed about zero-inflated data in the field of statistics. However, there is little literature in the data mining fields, even though zero-inflated data could be easily found in real application fields. In fact, there is no decision tree method that is suitable for zero-inflated responses. To analyze continuous target variable with decision trees as one of data mining techniques, we use F-statistics (CHAID) or variance reduction (CART) criteria to find the best split. But these methods are only appropriate to a continuous target variable. If the target variable is rare events or zero-inflated count data, the above criteria could not give a good result because of its attributes. In this paper, we will propose a decision tree for zero-inflated count data, using a maximum of zero-inflated Poisson likelihood as the split criterion. In addition, using well-known data sets we will compare the performance of the split criteria. In the case when the analyst is interested in lower value groups (e.g. no defect areas, customers who do not claim), the suggested ZIP tree would be more efficient.  相似文献

Abstract

The frailties, representing extra variations due to unobserved measurements, are often assumed to be iid in shared frailty models. In medical applications, however, a speculation can arise that a data set might violate the iid assumption. In this paper we investigate this conjecture through an analysis of the kidney infection data in McGilchrist and Aisbett (McGilchrist, C. A., Aisbett, C. W. (1991). Regression with frailty in survival analysis. Biometrics 47:461–466). As a test procedure, we consider the cusum of squares test which is frequently used for monitoring a variance change in statistical models. Our result strongly sustains the heterogeneity of the frailty distribution.  相似文献
