International Women's Day Party Well Received庆"三八"中外妇女招待会受欢迎It was a warm spring day on March 6,2007.On that afternoon,1,500 Chinese and foreign guests gathered in the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing,to celebrate the 97th anniversary of International Women's Day,which was on March 8.The event was organized by the All-China Women's Federation(ACWF).     

Four Outstanding Women Visit Hong Kong

ON March 2, four of the "Ten Outstanding Chinese Women" of 1995, joined the delegation of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) on its visit to Hong Kong, and delivered speeches to more than 500 Hong Kong women. They visited Hong Kong with the ACWF delegation at the invitation of women's organizations in Hong Kong.

On April 13-22, Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), led an eight-member Chinese women's delegation during visits to the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Visit to Japan

BETWEEN November 8 to 17, 1995, the Chinese women's delegation, led by Ms. Kang Ling, member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), visited Gunma Prefecture, Japan, with short stays in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. The visit was at the invitation of the Gunma Prefectural Government and was the twelfth women's delegation to make the journey since the friendly contacts were established between the ACWF and Gunma Prefecture.

Chinese women's grand festival, the Ninth National Women's Congress, will convene in Beijing in August. The congress is held every five years, in accordance with the All-China Women's Federation's (ACWF) regulations. The congress this year willfocus on uniting and mobilizing women nationwide in the struggle to realize comfortable living standards.     

A Grand Gathering in Autumn

On behalf of 600 million Chinese women, over 1,300 deputies came to Beijing to attend the Eighth Chinese Women's National Congress. According to the materials supplied by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), 43.67 percent of the deputies to this congress were engaged in women's work; 56.33 percent were representatives from the fields of industry and agriculture, commerce, trade and finance, science and technology, education, medicine, social welfare, media, law and the army; one percent were from Taiwan; one percent were returned overseas Chinese or the family dependents of overseas Chinese. All 55 ethnicities were represented; ethnic delegates accounted for 15.5 percent of the total. The average age of these deputies was 46.

Jiang Zemin Receives New ACWF Leadership

FOUR days after the adjournment of the 8th Chinese Women's National Congress, President Jiang Zemin received all the newly-elected members of the executive committee and several deputies at Zhongnanhai.
